My partner and I ended up here after a previously planned restaurant did not work out and wow, what a blessing in disguise! This place was fantastic. The service was perfect, no notes. My partner got the Basil Beef and she loved it, while I got the Pasteur’s Signature Beef Steak and thought it was just absolutely fantastic (cooked medium.) Unfortunately our food was so good I forgot to even grab pictures of it. Was able to grab a picture of the Ginger Pear Martini (10/10) as well as the again extremely good pistachio cake. We will be back for sure.

We had a lovely time at Pasteur. The seating was comfortable and the food was delicious. Everyone shared some excellent appetizers, including the coconut shrimp which was my favorite! Their duck curry was great and I devoured my fried rice. It's a really nice spot and they took our party of 7 quickly even though we were a little early to our reservation.

This place is beautiful and the food is outstanding. Lisa was our server and was very sweet and accommodating. Started off with Spring Rolls that did not disappoint along with the the Vietnamese Crepe with Shrimp, so yummy. We all enjoyed our meals, my Chicken Curry was delicious and so was the Ginger Chicken and the Pho with Chicken. For dessert we had Banana Bread Pudding with Carmel Sauce and there really are no words to describe how scrumptious it was. My birthday dinner was amazing. Wine selection is a bit limited but you will enjoy every last morsel of the food. I plan on going back soon.

My younger daughter wanted to go here for her birthday dinner ... It was delightful.

Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. I had Pho and it was on point, not too salty not too fragrant, it was delicious. The duck on a red curry sauce was amazing. You gotta try Vietnamese coffee and their banana pudding Mmm. Price is appropriate, service is great. Clean, spacious, and very tastefully decorated. I liked the background music and patio atmosphere. I am very interested in the history of the restaurant and background of the chef.

I am seriously dreaming about going back. We went a few nights ago and had an excellent meal. I had the duck curry and Vietnamese spring rolls. My mom loved the clay pot catfish. The outdoor patio is gorgeous and so is the dining room. Great place to wash away all your stress. You will feel like you are on a very nice vacation.

Really delicious! I visited Vietnam last year and got hooked on the amazing pho and other food there; Simply It brings back great memories with its deliciousness.

So good! Went here with my friends and I on a Saturday night and it was great. Authentic, fresh Vietnamese food at such a low price! They leave everyone a fresh tea to begin with. Service is great: they’re fast and the restaurant itself isn’t super loud. Great for a meal for two or a group. Highly, highly recommend the beef spring rolls, chicken puff pastry, crispy egg rolls, and their chicken pho. They even had food for a picky friend who doesn’t like a ton of foods and she loved their pan-fried dumplings. Recommend this place to all!!!!!!

This place is perfect for a date night. Every item on the menu was spot on authentic using the freshest ingredients. Wait staff were very solicitous, courteous and congenial.

We enjoyed an appetizer of dumplings while awaiting preparation of Cochinchin & Ginger Chicken, and from their Christmas Eve's special menu, Curry Shrimp, & fresh Tilapia. Our server Lisa & another woman (maybe Kim the owner), kept water filled & table cleared, as needed. Compliments to the chef & entire operation!

This was the cutest spot! Vietnamese cuisine in the most delightful, bright atmosphere. Outdoor seating area is large and white table cloths present inside and out for a cohesive decor. Had the fried chicken dumplings, the shrimp spring rolls, and the filet mignon on a bed of greens with white rice. Do not sleep on the Pear Ginger martini! Of all the positives here, I have to mention the service and staff were incredible! They genuinely care about your experience, are happy to make suggestions or accomodate allergies. I will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone!

A MUST VISIT! For Bahn Mi and amazing Pho.. Authentic cuisine and charming staff The only thing better than the food is the service. The extensive menu has something for every palette, and the prices are far too low for the portions and amazing ingredients!

Was there for Mother's day. Had the seafood birds nest dish.it was really good. Loved the crunchy noodles and the sauce. For dessert had the matcha affogato which was also good. The service here is always friendly and fast. Explained dishes to the older generation. Very comfortable atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.

Great meal on the spacious outdoor patio at Simply Pasteur. Highly recommend the great ambience on the patio paired with great service and excellent Vietnamese food. 5 stars all the way. Staff all wore masks and tables were appropriately spaced out.

Simply the best Vietnamese restaurant in Chicago. Uncle Tuan, the owner, is also extremely generous and kind to us customers.

Super polite, clean, healthy Vietnamese spot. I ate my pho, so the picture is useless, other than I ate it really quickly. Really good veggie pho! Excellent Vietnamese food in the heart of DePaul/Lincoln park.

We had a fabulous dinner on the patio, which is just beautiful. We have been to Pasteur several times and loved it, but the experience of eating outdoors elevated the experience. Highly recommend the mango salad and the cochinchin.

Wow Wow. This Vietnamese restaurant was so delicious and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. The cochinchin was amazing. A pad Thai type dish but less sweet and way better. Wonderful salmon, great ginger chicken. I highly recommend this restaurant

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m so glad I chose to overlook the one-star reviews because my experience couldn’t have been more different. While I respect others’ opinions, I definitely don’t share their sentiments. From the moment I arrived, the ambiance was perfect—inviting and comfortable, with a beautiful patio seating area that made for a delightful dining experience. The service was top-notch: attentive, friendly, and efficient. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality offered, and the appetizers and desserts truly stood out—each one a little masterpiece of flavor and presentation. We ordered the duck curry and shrimp in lobster sauce for our entrées. While the flavors didn’t fully come together as I’d hoped, they were still enjoyable. That said, the overall experience was nothing short of amazing. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting, and I’ll be returning soon to explore more of their incredible menu.

The coconut tofu stew was exceptional! Considerate, above and beyond service!

The Vietnamese fusion food was delicious and the staff AMAZING and always super accommodating. The owner basically lives there to greet and say thank you as you leave. He's an adorable, short Asian worth knowing. I recommend going for their lunch special Tu-Sun 11 am til 3 pm). You receive bottomless squeezed lemonade or iced tea, a small salad, tofu soup, your entree, rice (except with noodle dishes) and dessert fruit. I always get either their sweet tilapia with tomato/pineapple sauce or beef pasta-Bun Bo Xao (although if you don't like fish, ask for it without the fish oil which always comes on the side). The egg roll you get is also some of the best, like a spring roll yet fried. If you like to drink, it's BYOB with no corkage fee. Also, CLOSED MONDAYS!

Great decor and very classy ambiance. The food was amazing. Every dish was fresh, seasoned well and satisfying. I would highly recommend them. The noodles were delicious.

This place gave my sister and I a wonderful time for our birthday celebration! It is beautifully designed. The waiter was charming, as well as the owner. Warm and friendly. The food was extraordinarily good. The best Vietnamese cuisine we have ever had. Dessert was simply delicious as well. Will visit this place every time I am in Chicago.

We threw a bridal shower here and have to say, it was just the most beautiful place to do it. It accommodated a large crowd, the food was unique and satisfying, and the ambiance was exquisite. Plus, it was affordably priced. A place of great memories for us and would absolutely recommend it should you need a place to host an event or gathering.

The food tastes fresh and delicious. I love the value of the sandwiches (4$). The duck sandwich was great but the beef was a bit salty. Their soups in general are delicious and taste like vege broth and pepper (not just salty). Unfortunately the dining environment is mediocre since they don't turn on AC during hot summer days.

Seating quick. Ordering quick. Service fast. Copious amounts of cilantro, basil, bean sprouts and lime for the Pho soup along with sauces on the side for the soup. Not to mention fresh sliced jalapeno. The complementary tea was tasty. Tastes like a mild black tea with ginger added as a kick. It's probably good for the soul. And like all good restaurants, a cold glass of filtered ice water is also complimentary. As far as taste. It was good, but! There's a but. It had a taste of sugar that I'm not accustomed to. The flavor is there but not too overwhelming. And needed a little more 5 spice or star anise or whatever gives it that extra kick. Asked not to put tripe in soup. Don't know if they do but rather safe than sorry. But, I will be back from time to time as it's ranks high overall. The portion was humongous. Think it was a quart bowl filled to the top. All menu items reasonably priced. Just expect to pay $2 per hour for parking. $9.95 for Pho soup plus tax, totaling $11.09. A tip and your looking at $15 for lunch plus parking. Not bad!😋

Had a delicious Vietnamese dinner before a play at the Greenhouse Theater right next door (which was super handy!). Started out with yummy spring rolls for an appetizer, moving to the lemon pepper chicken with asparagus and rice (see picture). In the menu it said it was spicy, but unfortunately that was only true if you are the jalapenos whole. I figured the sauce would be a bit spicy. Finally, staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Cute little place! Perfect for date night! Has beautiful back patio with tons of plants. Food was good but a bit pricey. Lychee Martini is great!

Loved the decor. Food was good but not as elevated as I expected, very good rolls, make sure to eat them with wrapper in the wonderful lettice that is served with eith them. Good cocktails and drinks.

The decor of this place is fantastic. We sat in the outdoor patio, which is covered and has fire places so that you stay cozy on colder nights. The inside has gorgeous paintings. The food is acceptable, but definitely nothing to write home about. I did like my meal, and so did my dining partners, but we all agreed it was just ok, and not fantastic. They don’t know much about gluten free, as it wasn’t indicated and they waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable about it. But the staff were very kind and good, and so was the service.

Giving three stars because I feel like I was nickel-and-dimed here. I ordered the pho "meal" (X-large) with beef which is listed as $19 on the paper and online menu. Server asked if I wanted meatballs and I said sure. The price on the bill was $22, and when I inquired, my server said there was an additional charge for meatballs. This wasn't listed as a separate line item on the bill, so I wondered if they had discreetly increased prices on their POS system and hoped customers wouldn't notice. Not in this economy, sorry. Put it on the menu as an upcharge or mention it verbally when offering it. Communication is key to excellent customer service. Food was decent but I won't be back because of this.

Food was delicious. The beef steak is fantastic! The place itself looks great as well. Really classy, but also intimate. Now, the problem would be the serving and the kitchen (at least the day we went). There was only one waiter for the whole place, which also was the host at the same time, so the guy from the bar had to go help him sometimes. Also, they took a really long time in taking our order (for this same reason), and after we ordered, it took almost an hour to get our food. We got there at 6:42, got to order at around 7 and got our food at 7:53. Granted the food was delicious, but I don't know if waiting all that time to eat something that took us ten minutes to eat is worth it (we were starving at that point). Whoever is managing that place doesn't seem to want to pay for an appropriate amount of staff, because I am guessing the food took that long (it wasn't even packed, it was rather empty) for the same reason it took us long to even order: not enough employees.

My friend got the bahn mi and I got the beef pho. Service is slow. They’re nice and friendly but the food is only okay. Pho doesn’t really come with bean sprouts until asked. The beef was already cooked and it didn’t come with sauces and again had to ask. Interior was fine. Bahn mi was $6.50 and the bread isn’t crispy. It was tough. I think I’d rather go to Pho 777 or Pho 888 next time.

The dining room is cool. Service was slow (about 1.5hrs waiting for dinner) and the food was expensive for what it was. I ordered the special grilled pork tenderloin which was a medium sized piece of meat and a salad of lettuce and peppers for $25. I got super sick with vomiting later that evening with nobody in my party getting sick that night or subsequently; it could have been anything I suppose but was consistent with food poisoning I think from undercooked pork or the dish being left out too long. I advise the establishment to be cautious with storage and preparation of meat.

The service was not the issue. The ambiance is great. The food was a huge disappointment. The rice was hard and dry-leftover? The shrimp sate had raw flour from the coating- you can see it and taste it. Shrimp did not smell and taste fresh. Even the spring rolls that are hard to mess up lacked flavor. Overall, food quality was not on par with the prices and the ambiance. Go to Argyle street.

Hi, I was having a birthday and there was 6 of us. However, this guy showed up on a date or a meeting probably and asking THE WAITRESSES to tell us to BE QUITE AND SILENT. I mean... come on. Not that I am complaining about the waitresses, but please tell them that THIS IS A COMMON ROOM and if they wanted us to be quiet, just go to grave yard. PLEASE! AND THE WAITRESS at first did not apologized. We did not order our entree because we're just too fed up. Is this their restaurant?! Did they reserve this restaurant all for themselves?

We were excited to try this place and had our food delivered. Way too expensive for barely any food, no flavor & greasy. Extremely disappointed and won't be ordering again.

L
Lesley Ann Concha

They served the food piping hot. The eggroll was warm on the outside but scalding hot inside, causing a burn that made it impossible for me to eat for several days.

S
Stuart Brodsky

Was there for Valentine's Day dinner (we had reservations). Mediocre, expensive food. Mediocre ambience. Horrendous service. The management was absent. Actually the manager was in the kitchen cooking. Had to ask compensation for such a terrible experience. Staff were temporary fill ins. They were completely unprepared for the number of reservations. Took 2 hours to get our food. They forgot our appetizer. Unapologetic. Avoid.

C
Croft Vandervort

The ambiance is uncomfortable and scary. The employee older lady is arrogant and/or seems intoxicated. It feels like a snake pit with all that alcohol at their bar.
