This is THE best sushi spot on Long Island. The fish is super fresh and the rice is perfect! The ambiance and the staff are above and beyond. There is no other sushi spot I would recommend! A must try!!! And the drinks are equally as delicious!

We always have an absolutely amazing experience at Nisen Sushi! The staff is very attentive and thoughtful! The food is always on point! From sushi to their yummy Cajun steak! Great ambiance too! Highly recommend it! Matteo at the bar is excellent!

Our first sushi experience in commack. Fresh fish!! We tried the crispy tuna rice which was still warm and freshly cooked. The otoro tartare was smooth and salty. I wish they served it with chips or some rice to balance out the saltiness. Still tasty and would order again regardless. We tried Nisen roll, TNT (our favorite!! The side sauce is delicious) and happy lobster roll. The blood orange margarita was also a delicious cocktail. We were greeted by Jeremiah who checked up on us and was very kind. The servers were all professional and kind. Fast service, we had a great time. Beautiful inside. We will be returning very soon!

Everything was delicious!! The yellowtail jalapeño appetizer and black pepper tuna roll were my favorite! Staff was extremely friendly and attentive! I highly recommend.

Best sushi restaurant hands down!! The sushi is always fresh and of top notch quality! Phenomenal atmosphere and a great vibe! The drinks are tasty and the food is delectable. The owner Tom, always seems to find the time to welcome us and to make sure the meal is to our liking. Great place to grab a drink or sit down for an awesome experience. Highly recommended!!!!

The espresso martinis IMHO are the best on Long Island, provided that they are made by Matteo the bartender. He says that he is a mixologist who was trained in NYC by a prominent bartender. Matteo’s espresso martini is the only one that I drink without Bailey’s. I add Bailey’s to provide robustness to watery espresso martinis made by other Long Island bartenders. TIP: Decaf Espresso Martinis are available, and Remember to ask for Matteo!

Look at the sushi boat picture doesn't do it justice makes you want to have a party and invite all your friends leave the kids home! Lol Raman was good pork fell off in pieces. Great atmosphere clean rare in New York the bathrooms are spotless. The soy sauce dish had a chip in it but that's being picky. Busy but not crowded. The chefs and fresh fish were clean that's what you want in a sushi place.

They have been open for over 2 decades! Ordered delivery today for lunch. Fruit was fresh! Sushi was so good! Salmon had plenty of teriyaki sauce. Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing yummy and it was neatly packed. Did not like shumai wish it was fried or option of gyoza instead.

Any recent reviews praising Nisen must be paid or friends of the owner. I will try and be fair with this review. We would go here with our friends once a week for years and loved it. The change of ownership (maybe 2 years ago?) has put this place in a steady downward spiral. The service is terrible and slow. Most times, there is not even a full time bartender working so the servers must make the drinks. There is a cool lighting fixture above the bar that has not been functional in I don’t know how long??? The food is actually still good but some portions have gotten smaller while the prices have gone up. Did you buy a gift card to Nisen? Yes? Well do not try to use it during Happy Hour. They won’t accept it even though it’s the same as CASH! Make that make sense?! There used to be a nice woman named Ellie who worked there. AMAZING bartender/ server/ human. She no longer works there and now it makes sense. After this week, we will not be back. Trust this review doesn’t fall on deaf ears and ownership listens. I know am not alone on this. People talk.

Awful service. Took about 10 minutes to get a drink and I had to remind the waitress multiple times to bring out my food/drinks. I understand once forgetting an order but this accrued 6 total times throughout my meal. My oysters never even came. This drew the line for me. Atmosphere was overall okay. Water tasted like it was laced with bleach. Overall not a great experience. Would not recommend to anyone, ever.

The girls and I came in specifically for happy hour, but from the moment we sat down, the staff seemed annoyed that we were actually ordering from the happy hour menu. The owner, in particular, was extremely rude. He was pouring shots for everyone at the bar, and when we lightheartedly joked and asked, “What about us?” he looked at us like we were complete outsiders. The food was great, but the service was not. The whole experience felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable — definitely not what you expect when you come in to relax and enjoy happy hour.

See pic. This was $2. It’s a sauce in a half inch container containing mayo and sriracha. I have been to places that don’t charge and occasionally some that charge 50¢. Two dollars for less than a teaspoon of mayonnaise is enough reason for me never to return. If you’re going to exploit your customers, you should make the rest of the food worth it. It’s not.
