Read Shop Dallas Reviews
Read Shop is the cutest spot! They have tons of books and nicknacks for sale, but mainly a lot of coffee table books. The reviews are correct, unfortunately they do not have a lot of seating. Just a few tiny bar-top tables and stools upstairs, but nothing comfy to sit and read or work in. The coffee was pretty good! I got a honey latte and it was on the sweeter side, but many people like that. I think it would’ve been better if I got it half sweet, so just be conscious of that if you don’t like super sweet coffee. I’m excited to visit again and try more coffee!
We are excited to welcome Read Shop to our neighborhood and the community at large! What a gem of a place—everything looks and feels just right in this place that is certain to become a popular hangout. Friendly and engaging service from the coffee bar staff, and a wide variety of beautiful books to peruse (and buy!) while sipping the coffee. There is something for everyone in the assortment of this very thoughtfully merchandised shop. We especially love the charming plush toys from Jellycat. So glad that we can just walk across the street from our house to this cool new place!
This spot is SUCH A GEM!!!! I drive by all the time on auto pilot. This week; I was dire for a coffee & thought ‘why not’. Immediately I was greeted warmly by the barista behind the bar. There might be cool stuff in the menu but I knew what I wanted. My head was turned by all the cool stuff in the room!!!!! I asked for extra time to look at post cards. I added post card to my order. Walking out; she mention more stuff upstairs. Bet your bottom dollar- I set my stuff down & walked up those stairs. Jaw drop. I don’t know how long I was up there. I walked down the stairs with my arms full & starting a ‘next time’ list. Please support this incredible gem!! Coffee. Books. Good vibes!
Such a hidden gem! I stopped by Read Shop and instantly fell in love with the cozy, inviting vibe. It’s the perfect mix of a charming bookstore and a relaxing coffee shop. I tried their matcha and it was so good 😊 smooth, not too sweet, and perfectly made. It’s a great spot to read, work, or just unwind with a good drink. Can’t wait to go back! 💚📚
I loved the vanilla oat milk latte and almond croissant! It wasn't too sweet. All recommendation from the nicest barista I've ever met, Gigi!! It's so pretty inside and book selections are great.
Read Shop is such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The patio & 2nd level truly is what makes this coffee shop my personal favorite. Perfect for Zoom Meetings, etc. The staff truly embodies southern hospitality & their Jasmine tea is AMAZING. Def worth checking out!
Read Shop in Dallas, TX, offers a cozy blend of bookstore and coffee shop vibes. Their unique book selection is perfect for book lovers looking for something special, and the coffee is top-notch. It’s a great spot to relax, browse, and enjoy a cup while diving into a good read. Definitely worth a visit!
A little gem on Henderson. Gorgeous, unique coffee table books, awesome popcorn (try Poppy Handcrafted dark chocolate raspberry) and fabulous coffee. So happy can get the same brand in Dallas that I enjoy when in Seaside! They also have pastries to enjoy with your coffee.
Amazing atmosphere, lovely selection of books! Got the 16oz Iced Latte, and it was so good. Definitely coming back again!

Read Shop is an absolute staple of the Knox Henderson neighborhood/ community. It is always clean. The novelty of the items for purchase are so satisfying and curated beautifully. You are guaranteed a delicious coffee and pastry every time, prepared by who I am convinced, some of the friendliest faces in all of Dallas. Gigi especially is 100% sure to make my day. With the privilege of being surrounded by the most welcoming atmosphere around, Read Shop is a place to relax, study, meet up with friends, swing by on a walk, etc. You’ll have my business forever!
The women that work here are so sweet! The shop itself is a great place to pick up a little gift- great coffee table books, notebooks, and novelties. I hope that eventually they will get a few healthy breakfast options to go with my morning coffee, but Read Shop has been such a good addition to this neighborhood!
I absolutely love this coffee shop, it is my favorite in the area, I go here multiple times each week and am a HUGE fan. The coffee is delicious, the croissants are heavenly, and above all else, the staff is incredible and frequently goes above and beyond for their customers!!! Every time I come in, I hear them warmly greeting all the new guests as well as the regulars, who they know on a first name basis and remember their orders!!! It is truly difficult to find good customer service these days, and somehow the staff here strike the perfect balance of delivering a decadent, consistent high quality product and making you feel like you are at home in your own living room. I'm a foam snob, and I have to say their foam on all their drinks is that perfect, thick, frothy foam that they clearly take the time/energy to perfect for every drink, and not the thin/bubbly foam that most coffee shops quickly churn out. I have only one recommendation for management- I am wondering if maybe management could splurge a little on furniture for the patio? I think a little patio refresh, with some more comfortable/padded seating, a plant or two, and maybe some umbrellas would really enhance the patio experience and would offer strong competition to some other coffee shops in the area who boast decorative/comfortable patios. I think this would help enhance the vibe of people wanting to stay for several hours and read and hang out. After all, people want to stay and read at The Read Shop, let's help make this into a neighborhood vibe where people can read/work and relax!!! I know some days are windy, but I think the staff could totally exercise their judgment when it's best to keep the umbrellas down. Thanks for considering!!!

Great new independent coffee shop/book store in the Knox Henderson neighborhood. Excellent quality latte, friendly staff, beautiful decor. I echo what others have said about the distinct lack of seating, which tbh, makes no sense. Upstairs, there are stand up ledges which are a waste of space. The shop has plenty of square footage to add some comfy chairs and a cafe table or two. I like loitering over a great book and coffee, but here it seems like I’m supposed to buy and leave quickly. Hopefully they listen to the feedback and adjust accordingly.
Beautiful new coffee shop in the Knox/Henderson area of Dallas! They have great options for coffee and matcha! The service was great too. It is more of a book store than a library, so don’t expect to find a cozy place to read. There is very limited seating, at the moment, but it looks like they will add some patio furniture soon. The second floor features mostly coffee table books (photography, recipes, etc). There’s also a children’s section, but I don’t recommend indoctrinating your child with this selection of books (see photos) Overall, I would say it’s a fun landmark for a quick outing, but not a coffee shop I would stay for an extended period of time or visit often.
I am not the biggest fan of stumptown so I can only give this cafe so much credit, it's focused a lot more on aesthetics which makes me a little sad since there aren't many places to sit and read the tons of books that line the walls. A cute spot to visit and enjoy if you live in the area.
Went for the books, stayed for the coffee! Nice selection and variety of drinks, had many stickers and cute things for your pups(: Only took off one star since the seating was limited and the book selection is limited with some books being overpriced. Would definitely go again to keep trying the rest of the menu, but enjoyed the atmosphere that was calm and cozy.

Good coffee and nice staff. I will say this is more like a stop in and grab your coffee and go. It’s not really a cozy vibe coffee shop. They did add some additional seating upstairs and a few people were reading when I went. The book selection is severely lacking imo. It’s basically all coffee table books. Good if you want to stop in and grab a gift pretty much. Not really the cozy bookstore/coffee shop I was hoping for.
Cute shop, great coffee. Not the coziest vibe to make you want to hang out but nice variety of unique finds. Not typical popular selections if that’s what you’re looking for.
A cute coffee shop with other offerings (table books, cards, stickers, etc). They use stumptown beans and the space is bright and big. The espresso was well extracted and I enjoyed my latte. I visited as they were just opening- hoping they bring additional seating to the space as that’s what many people are hoping for in a coffee shop experience. They have a patio as well but unsure if they allow dogs.

Pretty coffee table books, good coffee, but quite literally no seating at all. You order your coffee or tea, walk around to look at books. But there’s no place to sit and have a conversation over that cup of coffee. Sadly, I think it’s a missed opportunity.
