Great effort in entertainment and upgrading the bar. Staff are always outstanding in service and friendliness. A great local but also a great destination. Have used it many times for staff outings!

Before this place got redecorated and new management it was the canal bar, I live locally and I despised the canal bar, it was dark and dreary and I was always sick after eating there. Now the lock keeper is my favourite place. I'm there probably about once a week!! I always tip very well because I'm just so happy with the staff and the food. The food is up to such good standards. The chicken wings and beef burger being my favourite things on the menu. They always have a new cocktail specail about every week and everytime it's delicious. Andy the manager is such a lovely and polite man. Always makes us feel very welcome. The bar men are great mixologists and the waitresses have fantastic people skills. Highly reccomend!

My local bar, I love this place. Sport on the TV's, staff is friendly, good vibe, good food and cheap, lots of different beers on draught and cocktails. Seems lively at weekends with music. Perfect for a few day time pints on a nice day, because the canal is gorgeous, if you step outside the front door this is the type of thing you're likely to see

So I like to go for breakfast. The breakfast here is the best in the area by far. Love the mini before a walk. I had to start before I took the photo🤣

Delighted with our choice, popped in for lunch with kids after visit to the Zoo, first time here and quite impressed, delicious food, friendly staff, great value for money, 3 main meals, kids meal, tea, coffee, soft drinks and a dessert for less than 90e. Definitely worth recommending. Free parking in nearby underground car park.

Stopped by on a Sunday for a sweet treat. I had their Sicilian Lemon Cheesecake. I thought it was delicious. Really nice presentation, very quick service. The manager served us and he was very polite, engaged in some good friendly conversation. Nice chilled music playing like Neil Young. It was a nice place to have a conversation. First time there, I'll definitely go back.

Great to have it nearby! Lovely cocktails and alright food. I particularly enjoy the outside terrace overlooking the canal, it's great on a sunny day! Friendly staff.

We went "just for wings" yesterday and we ended up with 3 course menu plus coffees cocktails and couple of whiskey. The service food and drinks was all Superb. Staff very friendly and professional. They had no problem to even make cocktails created by ourselves. Jožko and whole crew. Thank you very much for amazing evening 🥃☕🍔🥂 . Vlad, Alena and Michal. We will be back in December 🌲.

Thanks for all staff to provide such delicious food to us! My friend and I found this restaurant casually in a rainy day, so there’s no word can describe our feelings of drinking a bowl of seafood cream soup when we were such cold weather 🥰

Very nice place in a very calm part of Dublin. Great location, right next to the Royal Canal, with glass walls so people can enjoy the beautiful view. Very stylish, cozy, great background music and very welcoming. The prices are good, the food is tasty, with a wide selection of snacks such as fries, chicken wings, burgers, etc. The staff is very friendly. It's the perfect place for a couple or a drinks with friends.

I had the pleasure of having dinner in The Lock Keeper last night. Their outdoor area is lovely and their heaters manage to keep the space comfortably warm. I could not fault the service, the food and the atmosphere. It was great value for money and I will definitely return there again and again. Well deserved 5 stars from me :o)

We had our first visit back to The Lock Keeper since the new owners took over. The same staff are there which is great as they’ve always been so kind and helpful to us with our toddler. The brunch menu (11am-2pm / Sunday and bank holidays) was perfect. For 3 adults & 1 child, it all came to €45 for food and teas/coffees. Good value overall! Also we were able to walk-in without a booking as it was quite quiet. Definitely will be back again.

I ordered the special of the day and it was the best dish I ever ate at a restaurant in Dublin. And as always lovely drinks. Great place and atmosphere!

It is my favorite pub in Dublin!!!! Staff is amazing; especially if you are regular you will feel like you are at home. Great music selection, great food, even better atmosphere. Highly recommend it to everyone :)

The staff here are absolutely lovely. The food was fresh and well presented, and the cocktails were really nice on a hot day! Best part is the outside area where you can bring your dog. Great spot to stop off while taking a canal walk!

Good starters and mains selection. I've got a buttermilk chicken burger which looked great but chicken itself was unfortunately tastless.. I love their desserts- rhubarb apple crumble and crème brulé- delicious! Great coffee! Would recommend to have some alternative milk in offer as many people don't tolerate cow milk. Thank you to the waitress who managed to get us oat cappucino though! Overall, great lunch experience! 👍

Have been here a few times, the food has ranged from very tasty to ok. The woman serving was very nice, all the staff have been great when I visited before. The only gripe I'd have is the pub sized, warm, 200ml mixer bottles of soft drinks they serve with your meal. Keeping the bottles in the fridge as you would a beer wouldn't hurt.

Food is pretty good for a bar. Some decent options for drink, great promotions. They currently do a quiz night on Wednesdays at 8pm (as of Feb 2025) which is free and excellently organised. Lots of seating, well decorated. Staff are pleasant and there's table service as well as bar.

I had the braised beef for a mains and it was very good. Shared the chicken wings for starters and while also very good the portion was a little bit light for sharing. Finished with a banoffe desert, nice but just so. Service was excellent with pleasant and attentive staff. Decor is a bit dated but overall it is really good value for the prices and well worth a return visit.

Good food and amazing atmosphere and the terrace seats with heating is just perfect. We had to wait a long while for the food but that's understandable as they were busy.

Food was great - really good veggie burger and the chocolate cake was delicious We had a few issues with getting drinks delivered to the table - I think there was a lot of new staff However, a woman working there (I think she was a manager as not in uniform) noticed the issue and then was very attentive to our table which was great and we had no issues from then on! Nice atmosphere in the place. I really liked the high seats we were on as they have a good foot rest under the table so your feet aren’t dangling! It was also my friends birthday and all the staff were willing to sing happy birthday which was also a touch!

The bar is amazing and the barman did load of beautiful drinks. Beautiful restaurant! They we're very kind to show us the South African Rugby match. This would not be the case during other sport times as they only have one Sky licence. We we're there during slow time, low staff.

Lovely calm and charming beer garden at the canal. When sunny is an amazing place to stay for hours.

Very pleasant evening with friends for dinner. Food was OK, served nicely. New Zealand wine was delicious and a good recommendation from our very friendly waiter. Service was really good, nothing was a problem. The menu is not exciting but it has something for everyone.

First time in on a recommendation - had Ceasar salad, Lasagne and Banoffee sundae to finish - Can’t fault the salad, hard to get wrong, the lasagne was nice, but lacked tomato or bechmel sauce, it was - bit dry, but not horrible - The banoffee sundae was a bit of a letdown - way too much biscuit crumb just made it dry, even with the ice cream. Friends had a mixture of ribs, wings, burgers and pasta - could have been a bit more sauce with the ribs, but overall mostly good. Presentation was very good, can’t fault that - Server was very friendly. Cocktails looked amazing, some of us were driving so said we would come back when we weren’t and give them a try. Overall an enjoyable evening with friends, good music and not overbearing loud, we will 100% be back, just tiny food thoughts.

Friendly staff, great ambience, and good food. The food came out quickly but we waited a while on drinks and had to remind the server of our drinks orders a couple times. They originally brought the wrong food, brought over another table’s drinks, and then the wrong drink entirely. They also brought the table next to ours the wrong drink at one point. We’d give it another try but it seems like the drink service was a bit disorganized.

Ordered risotto which was nice but got a small size portion because it was lunch time and it was TINY. It wouldn't feed a 5 year old. Ended up ordering a soup to fill me up and that took about 15-20 mins to come because the kitchen was "backed up" (but soup is already made and ready to go?) the sandwichee were decently filled and cottage pie was a decent portion too. Coffee was bad, very bitter. Service too slow even though it wasn't busy and I'm pretty sure they forgot about my soup twice

It was a Tuesday evening when a group of 7 of us went here for a meal and drinks, it being nearest to where my visitors were staying. TBH, There's really not a lot you can say about The Lock Keeper. It's a big barn style pub, nothing too fancy. The food is OK, again nothing outstanding. Prices are 'Dublin average' for drinks and a meal. The waiter was a nice guy, friendly and accommodating, and we got our food and drinks in good time. There weren't many people there on the night, but I'd say the weekend would most likely be lively, 3 stars all round.

Tempura 🍤 prawns a rip off beef in black bean sauce edible but staff were so so rude a waitress let tray fall and food plus broken plate went all over my daughters clothes “ no sorry no clean up till I asked then waited 10 mins for assistance very disappointed ☹️

We were there last Friday. Waitress was not customer friendly 2/10 I got tea with sour milk , a colleague got the smallest portion of risotto you could serve Rip off and terrible services. Unlikely to go back and we were regular.

I usually like to stop there and I was many times ,but this time I am giving the lowest possible review for food that was served to me fish chowder with literally two muscles inside and two tiny slices of bread .Please see yourself and let me know if anyone would pay 14 euro for this .Service is good ,the place is a nice and quiet location, but I suggest better caution with food since it's not important just visual ,Aldo portions are also small and tiny and there is no value in that meal at all . Disappointment today..Please see the attached photo of what I was served and what I got .I ordered fish chowder and one beer total cost of 21 euro and was left disappointed with the food completely .

Went in this evening , after work for a minute to check out the place. Wanted to bring my wife for dinner and drinks. When I came out two male staff ran after me and accused me of stealing. What ? Coasters from the empty tables?. I asked them if they want to search me or call the Garda,I wish they would, two r.....rds, trying to be Christmas heros, will contact solicitors regarding this, maybe staff were drunk. A disgrace, it was embarrassing, my son was beside me and he was shocked. Shame! Hope management will have the decency to apologise at least

Went from being decent to bad. The portion sizes went really small, and the flavors were no good. Guinness was mediocre. Avoid.

I was there tonight and the electricity went so I was told that the fan was broken in the kitchen and they couldn't get my friend and I some hot wings . So I said that was understandable, but a few minutes later they started serving food. When I asked what was going on I was told to see the management. They told me the kitchen do what they want .... I will never go back.

Google says is open... the bar lady says we close because is not busy... 20 mins before actually closing time.

Avoid this place. The food was subpar, and we waited 25 minutes at our table before anyone came to take our order. We requested a final drink, which they forgot to serve but still charged us for, refusing to issue a refund. Despite advertising live music, there was none. Staff appeared unprofessional, often on their phones or drinking their own beverages. Disappointing experience overall.

Absolutely shocking, was asked can we change one tv to formula 1 as the football was showing on all 5 television. Politely asked to change the channel and the staff said we cannot because the manager was in having food with his family and refused to even change the channel on 1 television to accommodate the people who wanted to watch f1. CUSTOMERS DONT MATTER ONLY THE MANAGER AND STAFF DO. I posed this question to the staff memeber and he agreed. Disgraceful place who don’t care about the customers, will take hundreds from a booking of 8 people but can’t change the channel. Avoid at all costs.

We called ahead to book a table and asked if we could bring a dog with us, to which we were told that’s no problem if we sit in the outdoor area. We asked if there was cover and heating and were told that there is, so we said great and the person on the phone then booked us a table outside. We travelled across the city with my mother and my sister’s children, only to be told when we arrived that dogs can’t come in to the heated outdoor area and we would have to sit in the dark uncovered smoking area where there were no tables available. The manager told us we were wrong and that the staff member on the phone had not told us we could bring the dog (despite me having proof of the booking that he had made for us in this area after the discussion about the dog). The staff we spoke to were rude and dismissive and we had to go find somewhere else to have dinner at short notice, despite the area they’d booked for us being virtually empty. We wouldn’t have brought the dog with us if we’d been given correct information! The worst part was the attitude of the staff member and the manager who would not admit their mistake and kept saying “mm don’t think so” despite showing proof of the booking made by his employee for us. Won’t be back

Not a family friendly place with rude staff. Today after 5pm my husband and I with our baby stopped there for a drink. The place got busy and the waiter asked us to leave the table so he could offer it to some young pretty females. My husband still had half of his pint left! I found the behaviour of the waiter discriminatory and unacceptable. I do not recommend that place.

I went to the lock keeper last night , had a great night, I had a few drinks in me , ordered a round brought some drinks to the table and said I’ll be back up for the rest and to pay. I went to the toilet and forgot all about it. The bar man came down to me with the card machine , I apologized and paid. Later on when I went to the bar I was accused of not paying for drinks and refused service. I have over €200 of transactions to the lock keeper on my bank account and over €100 worth of receipts that I paid cash. So I think it’s fair to say I paid for my drink I’ve never been so embarrassed Aswell as being refused service the Barman also told some of my colleagues that I didn’t pay for drinks. I’ve been to to the lock keeper on many occasions and it’s a really good spot but I don’t think I be going back anytime soon.
