Bare East Palo Alto Reviews
The best acai bowls, but there's usually a 15-20min wait on weekends
Holy - regular should be called large. Should have shared Cardinal or gotten the small. Delicioso!!! I'll be back to try "unplugged".
Really good acai bowls. Little expensive but I am not from Palo Alto.
Best acai bowl I have had! Always add extra granola (it is made in-house)
High quality ingredients and attention to detail even if the service is slow. So satisfying. Worth the wait.
Great acai bowls but a bit on the pricey side :/
Best açaí bowls I’ve ever had!
Great healthy find... pricey but so are the ingredients... great blends!
Delicious and lots of options. Powerhouse is great if you like blueberries.
Great food, healthy option. Something that each city has to have so people can have healthy option for snack!
Best Acai place in Palo Alto in terms true to flavor.
Incredible. Would recommend. Good for babies, and other people that can't chew.
I strongly recommend ordering the cardinal bowl it's great
Acai smoothies are amazing here. Can be a long wait.
Best acai bowls - Bondi is my favorite
Alright, you win; acai bowls are actually great. This place finally convinced me.
5 stars for the great customer service of Gabriel. He was kind, attentive, and went above and beyond by himself. He alone deserves a raise!
Love their cardinal acai bowl
Good. Healthy. Try it. 👍 Update :very sugary so be careful if you need to keep your blood sugar low.natural sugars are still sugar.
Lots of vegan options of granola's drenched in cashew/almond smoothies with lots of fruitt. I had the cardinal - acia based smoothie granola. very nice.
Very nice bowls. Best bowls I have had. Doesnt feel like its loaded with sugar.
The small Cardinal Bowl is usually what I order. Delicious. Large windows in the cafe and plenty of seating.
They have a lot of choices for acai bowls. Taste great and they aren't skimping on fresh ingredients!
Always a good spot to stop and get a refreshing Acai bowl. Can be loud inside at times so I wish there was outside seating.
Excellent bowls, very yummy. Nice healthy alternative to ice cream or as a fancy post hike breakfast treat.
The bowls are amazing! I'm always craving them... Trendy place. Helpful and happy employees. Definitely recommended!
Amazing. Everything gluten free. Had the Koa oats porridge and the Trailblazer. Add almonds and almond butter! Could open earlier though please! Everything can be vegan too.
Great spot for breakfast or brunch. The food was amazing! Nice to find a true dairy free, nutritious spot! Thank you Christian for another healthy and delicious breakfast
We love Bare Bowls! Every bowl we've had has been great and we've been coming for years! Especially the Rincon & the Cardinal bowls! Not a cheap place, but quality is great and the food is delicious. It's my favorite spot for Acai bowls in the Bay Area.
I’m not sure what’s going on with the other reviews, while this place is super expensive, they craft their own nut milks and have a very high quality supply chain. The bowls and smoothies are amazing. I’ve always found the staff to be kind and efficient. If you want a $7 sugar smoothie, go to Jamba.
It was my second time coming to Barebowls to grab a smoothie for me and my family after my morning workout. Everything on the menu looked good but what caught my eye was the add ons and the ingredients they used. The add ons included collagen, mct oil, plant protein option, chlorella, and so many other stuff that I rarely see in other acai shops in town. As to their price, it was definitely higher than other places but I think it makes sense because the lady in the front explained to me how they use local vendors and mostly organic stuff. Overall definitely will be back for the acai bowl and smoothie.
I ordered chia pudding bowl and added granola, banana, strawberries with a little honey and the name of my smoothie was PB Dreamin’. It was so delicious and filling. The only thing I wish I brought was my own straw because my paper straw fell apart but I’ll remember to do that next time I go there. ☺️
This place has a sign that gives you ideas of what to do while you wait for your food. Ask the person next to you how their day is going, think of 5 things you're grateful for, text someone you love and tell them why you love them, and read a book. I like that they gave me these ideas. If you plan on going here, I wanted to share a few ideas as well. You can try to touch your nose with your tongue. You can twiddle your thumbs. This one is my favorite, you can enter a thumb and pinkie war with yourself and see if David can beat Goliath. If you decide to do this one, I'd suggest using them both at full strength even if you have a favorite. This can be the toughest part, but you want it to be a fair fight, without the influence of your mind, which may not be possible. Still it's worth trying, imagine if you wanted your pinkie to win and it did! It was somehow able to defy all the odds! I love a good underdog story. Just be careful, it's not worth breaking your pinkie over, trust me. Also if you decide to twiddle your thumbs before the thumb and pinkie war, just remember to twiddle your pinkies before battle as well. Ideally, both of them are equally warmed up before the fight. Anyway, feel free to use any of these ideas to pass the time while you wait for your food here. I got the hippie bowl, it tasted super healthy.
Craving acai bowl for brunch and this place did not disappoint! Fair warning though their menu is very extensive with more options than I needed. Be aware also of the bowls with nuts if you have nut allergy but they do have nut free options. They mix fruit and ingredients into their acai too. Not much space to sit inside. We took ours to go. The larger size is almost $20 but it filled me for lunch and didn't have to feel guilty for overeating. Also there's a sign warning you your order will take a while because they need to make everything. Don't come here if you're in a huge hurry but I saw you can order ahead and come pick up.
Best acai cafe on the Peninsula. Go with the Cardinal + acacia fiber.
First time trying an acai bowl and it was delectable!
Great place! Most option are vegan
Probably the best acai of my life.
The most delicious acai bowls I've ever had! Love how they use natural & local ingredients, and truly care about the community. Beautiful, inviting decor and friendly, knowledgable staff! Get your bowl/blend to go, or hang around and play games or get some work done.
Bare bowls is a great choice for an acai bowl. I like the rincon bowl, no honey. The flavor and consistency of the product gets five stars. Presentation-wise, they could up the flair on the bowl - it's a little plain. Service speed is sometimes hit or miss, even though there seems to be 3 or 4 employees at a time. Usually there's zero or one order ahead of mine, so its ok. Store looks clean and modern. The front door though, may need to work out more, or get a running start, to open it.
I love. Wasn't sure if nut butters belonged in my acai bowl, but ... yes. I've tried the Rincon and the Trailblazer. The first brought me back for more but now the latter is my favorite. A nice treat that feels good, $8 for the small size that is perfect for breakfast or as a sizable snack.
Delicious available bowl but a hot summer day! Ingredients are fresh and kids-approved! Comes in various sizes, a mini is great for the calories conscious folks!
The food was amazing. The new trainer lady was putting protein powder in the wrong bowl, but the bowl was still still flames 🔥. Just kidding about the powder tho
Fresh and delicious! No additives, loved it. I didn't notice they gave me the wrong order until they brought me the correct order. So I received two meals. Excellent service. 🍓🍍🍌🥥🥭 I will definitely return it's close to my work as well.
I've been to many Acai Bowl places over the years and I can HONESTLY say I have yet to find one that is as TRUE to their mission statement as Bare Bowls. The owner's diligence in finding LOCALLY sourced fruits and toppings, that give the bowl authenticity. I've seen many people refer to its pricey cost but it only makes sense for a bowl so prestigious be more than a little pocket change. PLUS doesn't rip you off by using juiced and additives like many other company's do. 5 Star Rate!!
Pricey but healthy and tasty acai bowls!
Awesome food/smoothie, place is very clean and neat, service is great. Only downside is how long the bowls take with others in the store.
Hearty smoothies and bowls for a nutritious snack or....meal replacement. Definitely a filling treat. The Pitayeah smoothie is nice and fruity if you like strawberry.
Over priced honestly, but best tasting and highest quality açaí bowl around. Powerhouse bowl is fantastic.
Good bowls but very expensive and takes a long time.
Definitely over priced, but nevertheless tasty and exquisite flavored bowls - try the trailblazer and ask for extra granola!
Very good acai and pirata bowls!! Too expensive though (but what smoothie place isn't nowadays...)
Everything here starts off with Acai and other fruits. Then they add delicious, healthy toppings. You could die from this much "health". 😃😎
I don’t know if Bare Bowls is closing early or if the posted hours are incorrect but I have tried to to stop in twice around 3pm and the store has been closed. The owner should update the hours on Google and the door if they are incorrect.(edited since management replied they change hours due to staffing issues)
This was my first visit to bare bowls, but it won't be my last. The service is fast and friendly, the produce is delicious, and the menu names are fanciful. What more could you want from a custom fresh-fruit meal? My only complaint was the expense, a little over $50 for 3 people, one item each. Still and all, it is delicious and worth the money. And I will definitely be back. Thanks folks! (Wild Violet is not on the list to recommend, but I definitely recommend it!)
Undecided if I like these better than vitality bowls but once I decide one of them will get 5 stars. I like the rincon bowl here and my wife likes the bdoml bowl. The stanford bowl is good. The staff seems friendly but also a bit cold or maybe forced? Compared to the warm service feeling you'd want in a restaurant. That being said I did feel a bit more comfortable inside of vitality bowls, so for now they would be my preference.
Nice healthy options that not only look nice but taste great too
I really enjoy the food here. A bit pricey but about on par with what would be expected of downtown Palo Alto. Staff is friendly and the interior is always well decorated. Unfortunately, it is not always the most pleasant place to hang around and eat inside because the blenders they use to make the bowls are extremely loud
Good healthy alternative to the ice cream and boba tea shops in the area. Really good products. The music in the shop gets a little monotonous. Mostly junk hip hop. Otherwise not a bad place to hang away from the usual weekend crowds.
Great açaí bowls! Shockingly the only place I’ve had in the Bay Area with the correct serving bowls (most put them inside frozen yogurt cups… which make a mess).
Nice bowls, but too pricey. I'd make my own.
overpriced and the small size is verrry small. takes longer than expected even when the line is short
Good food but 50 min wait is very common around lunchtime, while the app’s estimate is only 20 min. I’d appreciate more accurate wait time.
Meh, I’d give it more of a 3.5 stars, nothing was wrong just wasn’t impressed. We had a pretty long wait to order and get our bowls (maybe they were short staffed) and the bowls themselves were good but not a favorite. I also personally didn’t enjoy their granola topping as it was quite cinnamony (couldn’t quite put my tastebuds on the exact flavor, but it was relatively strong in seasoning for granola) some people may like that but personally I just didn’t find that it went well with the rest of the bowl and just took over.
Tastes good, but too expensive at $10+ per bowl.
Bowls were tasty and there's a lot of choice of extras. The service could definitely be improved. The person taking orders sure didn't quite seem to know what she was doing. Maybe I just got unlucky, who knows.
(Update: as of 2/22/22 staff is not great. Hopefully just a few bad apples, but this morning not great service. Unfortunate - really questioning if i will return to store😓). Paleo heaven! Paleo bread here is amazing! (Misfit Bakery in Palo Alto) Service is great❤ Food and drink so good (advocado toast and tumeric "coffee" my fav!)Clean eating at its best. Love. Love. Love❤😍
Very expensive. And the matcha was strange… it had weird chunks in it and didn’t taste anything like matcha.
45 min wait time when there were not that many people in the store.
Wow this place has gone downhill. Their prices are criminal. I lived in NY and LA, no açaí bowl was this expensive with fresh ingredients. I remember when they first opened - great service and the best açaí bowls I had ever had. Now, the service is bad, I’ve gone a number of times during operating hours where they are closed. The quality is NOT the same - I do not know if they don’t know how to make certain menu items or what the deal is. I’m convinced it’s new ownership. Sad, but all good things do come to an end.
Not good $18 bowl Super slow Acai is too creamy, can't really taste the berry No parking
Great tasting and great selection of "boosts" that I didn't even know existed. However, pay very close attention to what you order. I "assumed" I was ordering a bowl as it's the title of this place, but was handed a smoothie. When I asked if they'd be willing to remake my order as a bowl, the girl made her disdain VERY clear. It seemed like she took it very personally and was extremely rude to me the rest of my time there. I think the menu should be more clear about this bowl v smoothie issue. Plus, my company has tried to order for our office twice, and Bare Bowls cancelled our order for no given reason and gave us zero notice, so everyone that was counting on the food - and very excited for it - was left waiting and eventually, disappointed. I'd give this place 5 stars easily if they impeoved their customer service.
I was really disappointed by this place. The concept is great, and they really seem to stick with high quality ingredients while maintaining reasonable pricing; keep in mind it's a raw organic acai spot and not McDonald's. ..so ine star for quality of ingredients and 1 star if you can eat the items as specified in the menu. Unfortunately, the menu options were limited and their policy of not accepting substitutes in their bases meant there were only 2 things on the menu for me to choose from. They ended up over-blending it, and I received a luke warm smoothie. the first smoothie I've thrown out before finishing.
Don't go out of your way for this place. They have good smoothie bowls. However, they are super expensive AND they are unexpectedly closed all the time. I've driven over to this place twice over the past 8 days, only to find them closed during their business hours. Very frustrating.
Ordered 2 items: 1) Açaí bowl was ok. 2) Avocado toast is a scam. $13 for one slice of bread with half small size avocado with a few chili flakes and few drops of olive oil. No eggs, no vegetables. Ridiculous expensive and doesn’t justify the price.
21 dollars for a bowl they should be 10.99. Ridiculous pricing, not worth it
Took 30 minutes for them to make a small bowl. I don't even understand how because they're not even cooking anything..🙄 there was no long line at all
Their hours state that they close at 4 but they shut down their register 20 minutes before closing time and refused to take other orders
Got a coffee here and saw it pulled out of the microwave and still was cold and watery. It was $6. Very disappointed
Would not make any food substations the man in the back of the store rudely informed me about there lack of flexibility. I will not be returning.
SO SLOW !! & they barely filled up my bowl wouldn’t recommend
They take insanely long to make everyone’s orders. I waited 45 minutes for mine for it to come out. This place is ridiculous how inefficient can a store be??
Drove 30 minutes to Palo Alto to get Acai bowls from Bare Bowls only to find that they closed over an hour early =(
Wow I never leave reviews for anything but this was so exceptionally bad it deserves one! Literally spent $13 for a 2/3 filled bowl that’s more than half just granola! And literally watched the staff remove contents from my bowl while they were making it! Haha! It was actually worth maybe $5.50 at best! Please never buy here, if you’re from the East Coast try to find a Playa Bowls, there’s one by me and it’s actually infinitely better! Never coming back, hope this warning helps others from emptying their wallets on a bowl of mostly granola!
It was one of worst experiences in my life. We waited over 40 min to get our order. On top of whole thing blonde girl said they don't have ingredients for one of dishes we ordered and this after long waiting time. We didn't get any refund for missing dish as well. So yes be aware of this place. Their customer service below of anything. They opened said that they don't care about customers who were waiting.
Had a pretty bad experience here earlier today. After being informed that the base for the bowls can't have substituted ingredients, was told very rudely that taking out banana from my smoothie would make it "not very good." Even after I told them that eating banana would make me very sick, they tried to convince me to add it. It's never been a problem in the past to eliminate banana from my smoothies/acai bowls, so Im not entirely sure what the issue here is.
I thought could stand the açaí bowl here but no.. I love açaí but they used to add salty whole almonds instead of slice your almonds in açaí bowls that hurt my moles when I hardly eat ‘em. Please try sliced almonds like Vitality Bowls!
To sum it up we were essentially refused service because we had food allergies. They were not willing to make any substitutions to the bowls base because they said it ruined the consistency despite the fact that we had food allergies and we were very willing to adjust the consistency so that my daughter could have something to eat. I’ve never dealt with such lack of concern for their patrons. Not to mention that there were no other customers so there was no rushing for anyone. No other smoothie or bowl cafe has ever refused to accommodate.
Horrible experience here. Waited an hour for my order, which the workers did not know how to make. After waiting for 1 hr, they still were unable to tell me the status of my order and hadn’t started making it. They offered to just refund me so they wouldn’t have to make it, but then realized they didn’t know how to refund me. I left with no bowl, and out $13 for no reason. No one here is trained or knows what they’re doing. Bare bowls needs to start training their workers.
