Ever since I discovered the pork belly at Z&J subs I have not been able to stop raving about it; I love the boba smoothies but oh man is that pork belly the best. Joe knows me from how much I talk about his pork belly which I’m not ashamed of hehe. Keep doing your thing, we love you all at Z&J!

I love their pork belly sub! I try to get one everytime I'm in town. That bread. Mmmm drooling! Good prices and great service. Check out their menu

Delicious subs, awesome boba tea and unique smoothies. Boba has great taste, not too sweet and lots of different flavors! Sandwiches have BBQ type sauce but also carrots and cilantro. Bread is really good, and everything I have had here is well worth the price! Drive through can be a but wonky and you may have a bit of a wait, since everything is made fresh they aren't as fast as fast food. I love the smoker outside and it always smells amazing :)

Awesome family run business with GREAT food. You have to try the pulled pork and pork belly. Great recommendation is to do the pulled pork sub with the pork belly, spicy, and all the veggies. To die for!! Great concept too… banh mi meets southern smoked meats.

I’m vegetarian; their tofu sub is always satisfying and delicious. I love their baguettes! I grew up in San Jose (with a significant Vietnamese population) and then moved to San Francisco (shoutout to Saigon Sandwiches) and this is the closest approximation I can get in beautiful Humboldt County. Their service is always friendly. They will serve folks on foot. I love them!!!

Very good subs. I like the chicken extra spicy. The pickled veggies are fantastic and mellow out the spiciness. Also the only place i know of with boba tea. It's drive through only so don't plan to eat there but the waterfront is a short drive away.

This place has the best smoothies in Humboldt county, no where else even comes close. The staff and owners are friendly and efficient and fast. The subs are amazing as is the southern style BBQ sandwich. This is one of my favorite places in town.

We love this place! Owners were very friendly and gave a little history of their shop. We had the prime rib sandwich, a chicken rice bowl, boba tea and a strawberry smoothie. Everything was very very good. Sandwich was amazing! Tender meat, tons of veggies, and great perfectly spicy asian flavor. The smoothie is perfect. Lots of fresh fruit flavor, frothy, satisfying, and pretty too! We love the fact that they use fresh ingredients, and no high fructose corn syrup. Definitely recommend taking the time to stop by!

One of top three places to get a Sammich! Love the Pork Belly! Joe and his wife are amazing. The medium sauce i can't get enough of!

This place is awsome my favorite is the honeydew Boba tea and it is delicious tastes very fresh and just the right amount of sweetness I would 100% recommend

The meat is great, the bread is good and whatever his wife makes out of veggies is sauce really brings it together. I recommend you order the sandwiches as they come and enjoy. The smoothies are good too!

Great sandwiches at great prices! Some of the best pulled pork, albacore tuna sandwiches, chicken sands and more, that you'll find in Humboldt. Boba tea and other beverages. Been loving this place for years.

They have great sandwiches and rice bowls with fine cut meats. It's the only place to buy boba tea and smoothies, which they have over 30 flavors to choose from. Great family run business, easy drive thru, quick and delicious, a must go. They even have the best doggie bags for a buck for fido!

The pork sub (medium spice) and boba smoothies here are bomb! I don’t know why it took me so long to try this place. Staff is always really friendly and helpful too.

The bbq & boba drinks are incredibly good. They have rib day on Friday, and pork belly served all week. You can get a whole pork belly tray for around $10, and admit it... it will be the best thing you did that day.

Vietnamese Bánh mì meets American barbeque! Loved this contactless food option (order/pay online and pick up in drive thru) while visiting the redwoods from LA. Not only was the owner super friendly with local tips but the food was super tasty as well. I got a barbecue pork Asian sub... which was like a barbecue pulled pork sandwich but with the traditional Bánh mì bread, toppings, and an Asian spice to the western BBQ sauce. Portion sizes were large. My wife is vegetarian and she really enjoyed the marinated tofu based option as well. We got some vanilla and almond boba to drink with the subs and they were both really good too.

Great sandwiches with amazing flavor. They have just started making ribs, and the are some of the best I've ever had - tender, juicy, falling off the bone. Such good food.

Best pulled pork sandwich within 550 miles !!!! Spicy is the way to get it and your choice of gourmet cheeses ! Must try ! Same price as the garbage pile with a side of grease you could get from the local fast food. Yuck! Fresh veggies on the sandwich and exquisite smoked pork ! Best food in humboldt !

Bahn mi is perfect. Every. Single. Time. I could eat on every day. Don't call them, though-- you'll have to wait in line anyway. They're pretty fast, though! The only time I have ever waited a while is when the people in front of me bought, like, five sandwiches and a few smoothies.

I LOVE that this is a healthy and so quick of a stop for lunch! Might go to is the chicken rice bowl with avocado! Fresh shredded chicken on top of steamed white rice with a hefty serving of fresh steamed vegetables. In a drive-through.!?!? YES PLEASE. Of course I always have to get a fresh fruit smoothie with Boba because treat yourself. 5 stars.

Drive-thru specializing in smoked meat, located right next to Target. Ordered a pork belly sub on a baguette (you may know this as a banh mi). Comes wrapped, but when we opened it, it was absolutely loaded with meat and vegetables. A perfect amount of sauce gives a fantastic tang to go with the carrots and cilantro. The smoked pork belly is a unique add to it but 1000% recommend.

So good. They smoke all their own meats and have really fresh ingredients. The combination of the spicy pulled pork and the pickled vegetables on a crusty roll is immaculate. I like the pulled pork the best, but both the bbq beef and the pork belly are solid choices as well. And for the vegetarians, my wife says the tofu sandwich is good. Drive through only, but I've shown up in my car, on bike, on foot. Quick service. Do yourself a favor and stop here, I'm usually here at least once a week.

I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! Found this place on a Google search traveling through Eureka and were not disappointed. We tried three different meats (BBQ Beef was my favorite) with all the spice levels and we loved all of them. Service was excellent, and he was super patient as we made our choices. 10/10 would recommend.

Best boba in town!! So many flavor options. The tea has black tea and the smoothies are milk or cream based. I go back and forth depending on if I'm getting it for a snack or a pick me up. The sandwiches are tasty but I haven't tried anything else here, even though it always smells so good!! The family is super friendly and always 100 with customer service.

This is one of my favorite places to come and enjoy lunch. They're reasonably priced and they always provide quality meals. The albacore tuna sandwich is excellent. They are always giving out samples of smoothies and are very pleasant people.

The drive thru can take a while but that means they are making food as ordered. Very fresh. Liked the BBQ pulled pork round bun sandwich better than the pork belly (had to take off way too many marinated carrots). First time having a boba smoothie, it was absolutely delicious, especially the popping bobas. We'll be back to explore menu items for sure!

Excellent service! The subs are great. I'll note the avocado melts are not a ton of food even with the pork belly, but the subs are perfect. Ordered the avocado melt added pork belly and it was so creamy and delicious. Loved the spicy mayo. Also order the pulled pork spicy sub which was also good and the spicy is actually spicy. All the produce was crispy and fresh gave the sandwich a nice crunch. Service was great and food didn't take too long.

Tiny little drive-up, but delicious sandwich and bubble tea! We split a prime rib sandwich with avocado and I got a honeydew bubble tea. If you're eating on the road, the carrots get a bit messy and can fall all over you. One sandwich was enough to split between 2 people, especially with a bubble tea on the side. A little pricey for a sandwich, but very fresh and loaded with veggies. I'd definitely visit again.

J

These are pretty tasty sub sandwiches! A little on the pricey side with the addition of avocado and cheese. Their smoothies with added boba are delicious and so fresh! I usually get the added banana and fresh whipped cream!

Smoothie is fantastic. No seating drive up window ...with the rain here its prob best to occupy the parking with seating and umbrellas*** Sandwhiches are stuffed with an overwhelming amount of carrots but still taste amazing. Loved every pop of flavor . I got a sub with cilantro onion chicken cucumber and mild sauce is zesty with a sweet after taste. Def a good sub shop and very different from anything I've had before.I got a free sample of a banana strawberry smoothie it was made to perfection I give four stars bc as this place is meant for quickness I'd like to sit and eat there as so I don't have to carry food home ..

I go here a lot and get the same Thai tea with Boba. For some reason I got one that just didn’t taste good. When I went back to get it remade they wanted to charge me for a new one. Not good customer service.

D

Drive through only, there is no seating. Only get a half sandwich, unless you are really really really hungry. I liked the pulled pork better than the BBQ beef but neither was profound. The carrots are pretty heavy on vinegar and sugar - not my favorite. The mango peach banana smoothie with boba was middle of the road. It was fast. The meat was tender. The people working were really nice. The flavor a just off for me.

M
Meagan

Ordered a pork sub, bbq beef rice bowl, and a milk boba for $35, a bit expensive. The boba didn’t have enough milk product so it was not as creamy as I like. The sauce on the sub was unlike any Vietnamese sandwich I have ever had. It was not bad tasting but it wasn’t an authentic flavor, more of a curry.

K
Katherine Ratliff

Ordered online and signed up to receive order update messages. After 30 minutes of waiting, got in line for the drive thru where they THEN made the sandwiches. BBQ flavor was overpowering, no mayo to be discerned on either sandwich, and the temperature was spotty at best (which is disappointing for a toasted sub). Overall, I can see this being a great experience for some people's preferred flavor profiles, or when not understaffed.... but I think I'll check out the rice bowl if I even come back.

L
Lailani Sheffield

Had the pork belly sandwich and the trip tip, as far as bahn mi subs I've had much better. I found the dressings a little to sweet and I got medium spicy and found there to be very little heat if any. I wish I had tried something else on the menu. Also it was pretty expensive. Maybe choose something else.

E

Don’t get the popping boba. I ordered brown sugar popping boba and they were rotten. Tasted and smelled like fermented recycling bin water. It ruined what would have been a good drink.

J

The albacore tasted old, not fresh. They didn't give much meat.. the bread was too heavy... Need some lighter bread or something. The spicy sauce was lacking. It has some heat but sugar isn't necessary it actually takes away from the taste that I like. I've had much better sandwiches. Very disappointed. Also I paid $23 for a sub and boba tea yes I added avocado and had a large, but that's what too expensive..... I won't be returning.

R

I wanted to like that sub so much because I spent $20 on a sub and a small smoothie. I thought I was giving myself a treat. I got the pulled pork sub medium spice. The things that were good with the sub were the bread and the cucumber. The meat, although it was fairly generous, did not have any flavor and was a really bad texture. Mushy. The sauce they put on the sub tasted like really really vinegar ketchup with maybe something else mixed in that was hard to pinpoint. I kept eating the sub trying to make it taste good but it didn’t work. Like I said, I really wanted to like this sub. And then to add insult to injury, the sandwich is wrapped in paper, which I really like because it’s environmentally sound. I bought the sandwich and drink for my car trip, so I was eating it while I’m driving. The paper wasn’t wrapped very well around the end of the sub. And like I said it’s paper. so when I took a bite the sauce which they put a little too much of just gushed out the bottom of the sub and all over my pants. I was going to visit family and had to go with that all over my clothes. Also, they somehow wrapped the paper into the sandwich like in between the bread and the stuff inside and no matter how hard I tried to pull it out while I was driving, I was eating paper. Some of the time when I thought I was eating paper. And in some of the time it wasn’t the paper it was just the really poorly textured pork that felt like paper in my mouth and didn’t have a flavor. Like I said, I really wanted to like this sandwich and kept eating it. After a while, I just gave up because I kept having to pull stuff out of my mouth that was either paper or tasted like paper. The cilantro was not chopped. It was left in whole pieces, so there were these branches of cilantro that would pull out of the sandwich while trying to get a bite. And then after about an hour or so my stomach started really hurting. I think it’s because there was so much vinegar in the sauce

I am 63 years old and this is the first review I have ever written. I am doing so because the food was horrible. My hubby ordered BBQ Beef Sub, it should be called shredded carrot Sub as that is the main ingredient. He actually scraped away the tons of carrot to locate some beef as he really thought they had forgot to put any on. Beef tasted gross and hubby did not eat and said it was the worst sub he ever had in his life.I ordered pulled pork sub. The bread and sauce was good but pork tasted old and veggies did not impress. Also ordered small Chinese chicken salad and it was the worst I ever had. I suspect it was made in advance as it was soggy and had very heavy onion flavor. My total was $27.25. I felt totally ripped off and will never return.

I was visiting town from Reno NV for work, I didn't have a pleasant experience with the employee at the drive through. I asked if I could order a Thai milk tea and blatantly told me there is no such thing as a Thai milk tea, that there are Thai teas, in short I didn't order the teas from here because he couldn't answer my question. These teas are from Selma, CA. I think the teas from this location are from a powder rather than like the one's the pictures below where they brew the tea and add almond milk or coconut milk to the tea along with the tapioca. The pulled pork sandwich from Z&J asian subs were okay compared to other food I ate in this town.
