Devout Coffee Fremont Reviews
I’ve had hundreds of coffee drinks around the world and this one is in the top three. The Guatemalan bean espresso had notes of blueberry and malted grape candy, and the frothed oat milk was perfectly silky, cozy, and delicious. I grabbed some freshly roasted beans, too, to carry back home. I also ate the salmon toast which was divine. Succulent ribbons of smoked salmon on a smear of cream cheese, thinly sliced cucumber, and tart pickled onion, topped with dill and crunchy onion straws, all on top of thick-crusted pillowy sourdough toasted to perfection. I don’t how this place doesn’t have 5 stars other than you do have to wait for good coffee, but it is totally worth it!
I love this coffee shop. The coffee is really well made, and everyone is always friendly and nice. Very chill vibe. The wait can be a bit long when they're busy but that's because they take their time to make the coffee well. I love that Niles has a little independently owned coffee shop like this, and will always visit when I'm in town
Devout Coffee is such an important part of my morning ritual--and honestly, my happiness. I love dropping by to pick up my almond milk latte and a chocolate chip cookie, and every time, it brings me a sense of comfort. It is reassuring to know that Devout is still going strong. Walking in and the staff always greets warmly, I see locals stop by often so it seems like the place to be. Warm staff and ones that make really beautiful latte designs if I say so myself. The coffee? Hands down, amazing. The espresso is smooth, rich, and feels like a warm hug before a long, hectic workday. Devout's chocolate chip cookie is hands down THE best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had, to say I am addicted is an understatement. I dream about this cookie. It is warm, the chocolate-to-dough ratio is perfection, and the sprinkle of salt on top takes it to another level. 100/10. The space itself is minimal and chic--black and wood interiors with limited but cozy seating, perfect for a quick stay. Parking is mostly street, but there's a big garage right across the street which makes it super convenient. Old Town Niles has such a calm, charming vibe in the mornings. Just being there helps calm the mind--and starting it off with Devout makes it even better.
This coffee shop offers great espresso ☕️ made from freshly roasted beans, and many happy customers attest to its service. Although we were just passing through this area, we will definitely stop by again some other day. The shop is located in a charming historic downtown area that feels like a step back by the century.
I have nothing but good things to say about this Devout Coffee. Everywhere I go, I recommend this place to others. Yes the cafe is a little small so I wouldn’t say it’s the best for sitting down and the line can get long( but rightfully so because this place is so good!) They change their espresso every once in a while and it never changes in quality no matter which roast they use. Their pastries I believe are baked goods from a Filipino bakery nearby and they taste unbelievable. I don’t like putting sugar in my coffee and their high quality coffee doesn’t need it either. Having the sweet pastry with the coffee( I get a cappuccino), is the perfect mix between the flavors. They have coffee for everyone and even tea, kombucha(canned in the fridge), hot chocolate, and they do it with love every single time. I’m from San Jose so I make the trip every other Sunday just to make sure I get this coffee. I also buy their coffee beans and I grind them at home and it tastes just as good as in the cafe. If I could give more stars I would. Glad to have such a great coffee in the Bay Area. Also a plus is that it is located in a cozy strip full of antique shops, tea, silent film museums, farmers markets, and occasional vintage car shows during the weekend. The only downside would be parking sometimes is hard to find but I don’t mind walking because the area is so nice. TLDR; great coffee, small place, Filipino baked goods, everything is made with love and high quality
Devout coffee provides the best coffee with excellent craftsmanship and service. They truly seem to demonstrate a devotion to each part of the coffee experience. Whether it’s a cup of drip coffee or a shot of espresso or a special seasonal drink, each one is prepared with careful attention. I love the fact that it was founded and is owned by local Fremont natives. I think it’s the best coffee in Fremont if not the whole east bay.
So impressed! Everyone was very attentive and friendly. I’m the type of customer that when I see a high rating I trust that it means the establishment means quality and stands behind it. So I invariably end up having some questions! They handled them graciously and the coffee and banana bread were both divine. First time to Niles and loved the historic feel, esp with the backdrop of the mountains. Wow! 🤩
Cute place on Niles downtown, with very good coffee. Parking spot nearby at a lot (free) with ample space. They’ve got some good beans, and also breakfast sandwiches. Got the avocado toast, and enjoyed it. Wish they had a little more indoor space to work, but there’s lots of outdoor space to sit and sip. Overall really liked the vibe.
First time there and loved the place. They were out of a number of things but it was in the afternoon so not a typical time for coffee. I had the Ethiopia pour over and it was good. It’s very well located but street parking can be challenging—there is a parking lot not far away so not an issue. There is ample seating both indoors and outside.
First time here and I am quite impressed with this nice little coffee shop. I like the mood and tone, the shop is well decorated and styled. Staffs are nice and will help you with order. I think this spot is popular as well, there are a few people here. However, I think the drink is so so, I got myself an iced mocha. It's good, but not stellar. The price is reasonable. I would stop by again if I want a drink.
Nilei is a cool little town, and this coffee shop is a must-stop! The style totally fits the old-school vibe, which I loved. Coffee was good, though that Tonic + Espresso is a bit different. Awesome latte art and a great open space to chill. Friendly folks working there, good atmosphere – just a heads up, it can get a little noisy with the biker shop next door. Still, I'll be back for sure
Devout coffee is a nice spot to grab a latte. They have a pretty chill space, friendly staff, and some food, too. It’s not the most convenient place to park near, but it’s usually not a big walk from wherever you find to park on the street. My main complaint is that they don’t really offer any flavor options for their lattes. That said, their plain latte is quite good for what it is. So, if you’re more of a coffee purist, you likely will very much enjoy their drinks. I personally like a bit of a sweeter flavored drink.
Devout Coffee is a pretty chill spot tucked away in Niles, Fremont. The vibe here is relaxed and perfect for anyone looking to enjoy quality coffee in a peaceful setting. Their coffee beans are top-notch, and the latte I had was incredibly smooth—a real treat for coffee lovers. That said, there are a few downsides. The inside seating is very limited, which might be a drawback if you’re hoping to hang out or work indoors. They also don’t offer flavored syrups or add-ons for their coffee, so if you enjoy a touch of sweetness or variety in your cup, you might need to adjust your expectations. Additionally, the baristas seemed a little unwelcoming, which took away from the overall experience. Another thing to note is that it’s slightly expensive. We ordered two lattes, one butter croissant, and one almond croissant, and our total came to $26 plus tip. While the quality is undeniable, the pricing might feel a bit steep for what you get. Overall, it’s a great place for coffee purists who appreciate well-crafted beverages, but the service, setup, and pricing could use a little improvement.
Used to be a 5 star a week before the transition started , I’m a regular customer, they got no interest to make coffee. Look at the shape , milk is not at all good it is not boiled or foamed . Actual barista and management changed I guess . No more going to Devout . It’s just another gas station coffee ..
Whenever we’re in town, we always stop by Devout coffee. They used to have the best espresso & tonic. We tried to come here twice and they kept saying they don’t have them. So I ordered matcha. Ehhh. I don’t think this coffee shop is worth to go anymore.
When I bought my bag of beans I thought their bags felt lighter/ smaller than a typical 12 oz bag, but still bought it for $24. Disappointed to find when I got home, that my intuition was correct and that their 12oz/340g bags are actually under filled, weighing in at 330g including the weight of the bag. (Edit: weighed the bag itself which weights 15.7g, so really the effective weight of the beans is 315g.) I love supporting local coffee shops but can’t get behind this kind of business practice. :(
I was visiting the area with a friend and ended up visiting this place after reading the reviews . Easy to find with plenty of parking around. Coffee indeed was good . We ordered a cortado and cold brew . The person who took our order seemed too tired to work but the employees were very friendly with customers in front of us . Was too busy talking to them and the rest of the orders were being delayed. The patio is nice to sit if the weather allows it . Few sweet pastries are available at site too. It’s a good spot but probably famous because of the lack of other good coffee shops . 2nd visit was even more disappointing. No food or coffee packs to buy . I ordered a cortado which they have a different name . Coffee was cold and when I informed the staff , he said ‘ it’s as warm as I can make ‘ . Then he made another one which was so hot that you can burn your mouth . Horrible barista skills . I recently went to philz coffee too and they were amazing compared to this place .
