Torchy's Tacos Georgetown Reviews
I've loved this place since they were in just a food truck! So happy for what they have grown into. If you haven't been in yet, do your mouth a favor and walk into any of the many locations spreading out across our great state, and you will see the reason for their success. It's a finger lickin kick right to your taste buds! Go see for yourself, don't take my word for it! Don't forget the street corn and the queso is something to behold.. You will see!
Torchy’s Taco is always a win. No matter which location you go to, the experience is consistently solid, and that’s hard to find these days. The menu has a great mix of classics and creative tacos, so there’s always something new to try while still being able to fall back on your favorites. Everything comes out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The tacos are the obvious highlight—bold, well-seasoned, and loaded with ingredients that actually complement each other instead of competing. You can tell they don’t cut corners on quality, and the portions are generous enough that you leave satisfied. The queso alone is reason enough to show up; it’s rich, addictive, and easily one of the best around.
Jess, the new bartender, is excellent. No disrespect to the other bar tenders who work here, or have worked here. Jess is focused on providing topnotch service and is not distracted by lengthy conversations with customers. Not something I can say about the others. Now, it is a great and complete restaurant. Matt
Not only is the food always consistent and amazing but so is the staff! Easily my favorite place to bring both family and friends. The bartenders are all incredible! I truly can’t say enough good things.
who is what you need to know before coming to this location clean restrooms for men and women separate with lots of drink options lots of seating lots of sitting at the bar and lots of outboard sitting with covered patio making this a very attractive place with actually decent Wi-Fi speeds and all the usual options you would expect from a torchy's with a couple of flat screen TVs playing sports that you can kick back and watch they also have this kiosk and you can order to pick up to go to skip the line as well as shared parking I would say handicap accessible just keep in mind getting here is half the battle because it's a shared parking area at the new HEB shopping center that they made in this area but I know so many people moving to this area and this is definitely a great spot to grab a quick lunch or dinner to go that torchy's is definitely known for and of course my personal favorite is the secret menu so I got the secret menu Matador which is my personal favorite fried brisket taco with plenty of meat with my favorite day of a little sauce and thankfully they are in my request and we're not skimpy on the diablo sauce with thankfully superb customer service here to make sure I got my ordered and got served in the reasonable amount of time with the catchy little flat drink koozie thing that vibrates once your mail is ready and then have somebody come out and get your meal About the alcoholic options as well as a happy hour margarita and as well even have Red Bull to go orange juice to go which I found Todd but unique about this location and churro desserts inside the bill say the lesson dulce de leche and they have the torch bowls for those that work like a vegetarian option salad option and veggie tacos as well with their famous fried avocado we're highly recommend this location looking for bite to eat and or hang out in this area and don't forget you can also download the app and get for free tips scheduled sauce and more
The shrimp Baja is my go to in this well rounded taco place. Flavor, portion size for the money and quality are standard here. Vets get free queso and chips with purchase. Must show ID denoting your status to qualify, but once they recognize you, that can change, as we have become regulars.
Awesome tacos at a decent price. This location in particular has had its bumps but hey always have done right and helped to fix any errors. Seems to be running very smooth now, and is now a go-to for us when we need a quick pickup or a fun sit down dinner for the family.
A little pricey for a taco shop but the tacos are really good. Big fan of the Republican and the brush fire. There are chips and green chili queso are really good. Half the time I end up with the taco of the month which tends to always be a really good choice. This location serves Coke products and has outdoor seating.
Edit: Everything from my previous review still applies. My wife and I wanted to give a shout out for Darla, whose customer service is consistently AMAZING! Thanks for the wonderful service, kid! Fantastic service and very tasty food! They had jerk chicken tacos ( The Brushfire) for my wife. She loves those! The hatch green chile queso was out of this world amazing! The tacos are a little pricy, but they stuff them full of ingredients and that most important ingredient of them all, vitamin taste. The food came out pretty quick and fresh. Service was polite, professional and efficient. Thank you, Torchys! We'll see you again soon.
My first time at Torchy's and my wife and I were impressed with the service. The food is also very good but the service was incredible! When I received my taco, it had cilantro on it and I don't like it, as I was trying to remove the cilantro, the server told me "don't worry, I will bring you another one without cilantro". And so he did! very quickly I might add! A few minutes later, another server asks me if I would like a beer. I said I would love a beer. And so he brings the beer on a cold glass! I am impressed! Congratulations!
I love eating here with my family! The only complaint I have is they don’t put enough meat in the burritos but other than that, my family and I love it! The establishment is clean, fresh food and for the most part friendly service!
In my experience, one thing has always shone above the rest; As it implies in the name, the tacos are "damn" good. From the sweet and juicy baja shrimp to the mouth wrenchingly spicy creeper, all of the options here are delicous and simply beatiful. What brings my rating down to a four is the noisy atmosphere. It is simply packed and the acoustics do not help with sound travel. In the end, I would highly reccomend a visit. My personal order is one baja shrimp and one green chili pork, with a fountain drink of course.
A welcome addition to the restaurant scene in this area. My family has already added this new Torchy’s as one of our “go-to” spots for a quick dinner. Food has always come out quickly for us. I love the queso and margaritas. The tacos are huge with plenty of variety on the menu. Nothing fancy but overall a nice spot for families.
Normally a solid choice. Not crowded. Food took forever. And when we inquired, the food came out right away. Cold. Flavors were good, just clear out order was forgotten about given the food temperature
I always enjoy eating at Torchy's Tacos. The food is consistently delicious, and the variety of tacos and sides keeps me coming back. That said, I’ve noticed a pretty big difference in portion sizes when you dine in versus ordering takeout. When we eat at the restaurant, the portions are noticeably larger, which always leaves me feeling more satisfied. On the other hand, takeout portions seem a little on the lighter side, which can be disappointing, especially when you’re paying the same price. Sometimes to avoid the rush, we’ll order takeout but still sit down to eat inside the restaurant—kind of the best of both worlds. One thing I always appreciate about Torchy's is the atmosphere. The vibe is upbeat, the music is great, and the restaurant is always clean and well-kept. The staff is super friendly, and they do a great job of creating a welcoming experience. Whether it’s your first time there or your hundredth, the energy of the place makes the food taste even better. Now, something I wish they would change: the tipping process for takeout orders. When you place an order through the app, it automatically prompts you to tip, with default options like 10% or 15%. Personally, I don’t see why this is necessary for takeout. What are they doing differently from fast food workers at places like McDonald’s? I’ve never thought to tip at a fast-food spot unless someone went above and beyond, and it feels like tipping has become too normalized in situations where it doesn’t really make sense. Plus, you’re tipping before you even get your food, which feels awkward because if something goes wrong—like an incorrect order—you’ve already tipped. I’d honestly rather pay a bit more for my food upfront and know the staff is being paid well instead of feeling pressured to tip. Speaking of mistakes, I don’t know if the kitchen staff can see whether or not a customer tipped, but sometimes it feels like orders come out wrong more often when I don’t tip. Maybe that’s just a coincidence, but it’s crossed my mind a few times. Either way, I think there’s room for improvement here because it would be better if tipping wasn’t expected for takeout in the first place. Despite that, I still love Torchy’s and eat there probably once a week. The food is always fresh, and I’m obsessed with their Chipotle Ranch and Diablo Sauce—they’re the perfect complements to just about everything on the menu. I’d also recommend trying the Tractor drinks. The Strawberry Fields flavor is my favorite, but the lemonade is also fantastic. Plus, free refills on those are a nice bonus! If you’re ordering takeout, I recommend using the iPhone or Android app because it can save you a lot of time waiting. The only thing I’d suggest improving is making the portion sizes for takeout the same as what you get when dining in. It would be interesting to actually go in with a scale one day and weigh the portions to confirm the difference—I’m tempted to do it! Overall, Torchy's is a great spot with amazing food and a fun atmosphere. While there are a few things I’d tweak, it’s still a place I highly recommend, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout.
Everything was good until the food. I ordered the steak fajitas taco and the first bite I was chewing for a hot minute. I couldn’t swallow it and even if I did (which I tried) I choked. It was tasteless even the veggies had no flavor. Even my girlfriend taco which also had steak had trouble eating it. She basically just threw it away. Maybe I’ll just stick with my OG Baja shrimp tacos from now.
TLDR: My first visit to Torchy's Tacos was marred by poor cleanliness, unprofessional service (tacos delivered with thumbs in the food), and overpriced portions that didn't match their size. While the tacos were decent and the menu creative, the overall experience left much to be desired. Unless they improve hygiene and service, I'm hesitant to give them another shot. Torchy's Tacos gave me a first impression I won't soon forget — though I wish I could. Walking in for the first time, I was greeted not by the aroma of sizzling tacos but by an overwhelming sense that cleanliness wasn't high on the day's to-do list. Sticky floors, unkempt tables, and a trash bin overflowing like an ill-timed piñata were enough to give pause. Still, I decided to soldier on, lured by the promise of their "damn good tacos." Things went from questionable to downright appalling when the manager emerged with my order. Rather than a tray, my tacos were hand-delivered — literally. The man carried the baskets with his thumbs prominently placed in my food. If this was Torchy's idea of "hands-on service," I'd like a refund on that experience. As someone who had never eaten here before, I began to wonder if this was just their quirky style or a health code violation in the making. The tacos themselves? They were…fine. Certainly not good enough to salvage the rest of the experience but adequate in a "if you’re already here, you might as well eat" sort of way. The real sting came when I realized the serving sizes didn't quite justify the hefty price tag. I'm all for premium tacos, but at these prices, I expected to leave full, not debating whether to hit a drive-thru on the way home. In all fairness, Torchy's has a reputation for bold flavors, and I did appreciate the creativity of their menu. But no amount of Diablo Sauce can mask poor hygiene and unprofessional service. Perhaps it was an off day, but when your first impression involves tacos served with a side of thumbprint, it's hard to justify a second chance. In the end, Torchy's might be "damn good" to some, but for me, it was just damn disappointing. Here's hoping they clean up their act — literally and figuratively — because there's potential here, buried somewhere under the grime.
Came for lunch at 1pm. No bartender to be seen. No manager either. 6 people walked out at the same time as us because no one acknowledged any of us. Do better. Geeze. It wasn’t even busy in there.
Last night my wife and I ordered dinner through Uber Eats, and it was the worst experience I've ever had at Torchy's Taco. We ordered chips and cheese, and to our dismay, the chips were OLD—absolutely OLD and inedible. They must have been there since the day before. It was annoying and disgusting to even try them, and obviously, the person who put them on my order KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. The employees there know what's old, bad, or inedible. We also ordered four Baja Shrimp Tacos, and all four were ABSOLUTELY INEDIBLE. The tortillas were 100% soggy, almost falling apart, and cold (taken from a refrigerator). The shrimp inside the tacos was cold and felt like chewing gum, indicating that the tacos were also old and had been prepared and stored for a long time. As I said, the employee who put that on my order knew what they were doing; it was 100% intentional. So I DO NOT RECOMMEND eating in or ordering takeout from that place.
My last visit to the Torchy's on Ronald Reagan was dissatisfying and frustrating. The employee who took our order miskeyed in our number, causing us to wait for 45 minutes to get our food because they did not know which table to bring it to nor what the correct order was. We are patient and understanding people, and noticed it was busy. But after checking on it 3 times, it finally arrived with no apology or compensation. The couple sitting near us even noticed how long we had waited because they came in after us, got their food, and finished before our order came out wrong and cold. She even went and spoke to the manager on our behalf. My husband asked to be comped a beer, and after waiting 12 more minutes the manager came out and gave us two free taco vouchers.
In my opinion the worst location, there has been several times where me or my wife go to this location and online order and have to wait an hour or more past the “ready time”. Today I ordered our food online for pick up at 5:50 it said it would be ready at 6:30. When it was close to the time for my order to be ready I asked for an update and the worker seemed to not be able to find my order so she went to the back and said yea I’m not sure when they are going to be done with your order sorry . I’m ok to wait as long as I have a reasonable time frame but not to wait indefinitely. So I just asked for my order to be cancelled. Extremely frustrating cause I love Torchys but they have been letting us down a lot lately.
It pains me to write this review, as we usually really like this location. Today we ordered two fajita combo plates( chicken and beef ) to go. Both meals tasted like shrimp/fish and our stomachs hurt a bit after eating. ( neither of us are fish people ) Are you all not cleaning the cooking area when making different types of meat? We used a giftcard that was a Christmas gift so it feels even more bad that it was spent on this meal.
They do not honor your pickup time. It was over 20 minutes backed up on orders, so much for the convenience of timed pickups. They put orders on the shelf behind the pickup window so you can't pick it up. Then they also have a sign by the pickup window asking you to take to a team member for your order but they only have one cashier so you have to wait in line with the dine in folks. Or try to run down other staff who don't want to be around. Seems like maybe they're badly understaffed and disorganized. Damn good tacos, damn bad service and organization. Damn Shame.
Not worth it. I remember when Torchy’s served you Tacos that were stuffed, overloaded even, with tons of ingredients. Hadn’t been in some time and apparently that’s changed. The Tacos we got today were severely lacking. Ordered Migas tacos which were $5 per taco! 😳 And there was hardly even any egg inside of it. Tortilla was a weird consistency seemed like an old Tortilla. Just so disappointing. It was not worth the money we paid, I wish we had gone and supported a local place instead. Now we know.
