Small plates. Big flavor. Flawless service. Elegant and flavorful dishes in a dim lit, modern setting that is undeniably expensive : but you can taste exactly where your money went 🙂 Bar seating available and comfortable. But In this case, making a reservation is worth it to get a proper table or booth. I would do that differently in the future. Worth it? If you appreciate craftsmanship over portion size, absolutely. Not for the frugal. You can choose a preset 8 course "experience" or pick at plenty of colorful dishes of your choosing. We chose to pick ourselves and it was worth while. My only small critique: the music was too loud and sounded like it was on loop , distracting from the otherwise refinded background.

What a cute place with friendly staff and most importantly, fresh sushi. Coming from California where we have really good sushi, I didn't have high hopes. But I'm glad i was wrong and taken by surprise. We had the omakase and many different nigiris and handrolls. The fish melts in your mouth and everything was so delicious! Highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar and enjoying the sushi chefs and watching their skills.

Best Sushi I’ve had not only in Miami but probably ever. The level of perfection of each and every dish is something you see only in Japan or at Fancy Omakase restaurants. They use the freshest fish and have the best quality ingredients you can find. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, welcoming and the chef is a superstar. From the moment you enter Hikari, a Kosher Japanese establishment in Surfside FL, the friendly and inviting staff, beautiful interior design, pumping music all make the vibe of this place really great. We had two of the experiences on the menu, (photo) twilight and the Hikari Experience. The Fish was fresh and all the dishes were tasty and delicious. They are only in the second week of being open so our experience was impressive. Great drinks. We opted for straight top shelf Tequila. We found out after they have Saki.... next time. Definitely will be coming back soon. Awesome. 5 stars.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to love the drinks as much as I did. The cocktail menu is incredible—each drink was balanced, creative, and full of flavor. You can tell the bar team knows what they’re doing and brings real passion to their craft. The staff overall was warm, attentive, and made the entire experience feel seamless. And major props to the chef—every detail on the menu reflects skill, precision, and a deep understanding of flavor.

What a refreshing new kosher restaurant! Service was great, everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food did not disappoint, great flavors, nice plating. We didn't do the experience menu, but might go back to try that. The steak was a good med rare, nice sear on the short ribs, the lamb and salmon was moist and delish. I would have liked more alcohol in my drinks, but there is a learning curve to all new restaurants. Overall was a great meal!

Had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Hikari Japanese Restaurant. The ambiance is stunning and the design of the space is truly one-of-a-kind. Every dish we tried was incredible—from the tuna tataki and hamachi crudo to the sashimi platter featuring five types of ultra-fresh fish. The lamb chops and wagyu steak were perfectly cooked and melted in our mouths. And the cocktails? Next level. I had the spicy passionfruit and arak fig—both were exceptional. i dinned in at hikari and when I say it deserves 5 stars i ain’t lying. Starting with its magnificent quality and varieties in meat and fish. We ordered the Omakase 6 pieces nigiri that was delicious and we also ordered the smoked toro special which is off the menu and our mouths were watering for how good it was. Our waitress Seda. Who showed off giving us an excellent service and always attentive in case we needed something. She recommended us to try the 14 oz Rib eye steak and Lamb chops that was OUT OF THIS WORLD. With its side of vegetables and puree. We were so full that we couldn't take more and we ordered the rest to go. That's crazy, isn't it? Finally, Seda guided us through the different types of desserts they have on the menu and we fell in love with the peanut butter cake. With strawberries on top and strawberry puree. So so good. I truly recommend this place and I would come back very soon. Thank you to all the staff too!!!

Sushi is a must, and anything with fresh fish just trust me and try it, you can thank me later. AND the decor!?!? Wow, how is it possible that a kosher place looks like this! This is the only full 5 star restaurant I ever reviewed, and the only one that really deserves it so far. Try the alcohol drinks, so worth it! Come here for a business meeting, night out with friends or partner, or for a first date! Reserve a place and plan a head, this place will play with a bunch of your senses, a total experience! BTW, something incredible here is that it might be open for shabbos, but regardless it makes great shabbos food.

Topped with avocado, kosho aioli, and a slice of serrano, it was the kind of bite that makes you pause and smile. Each course that followed kept building on that high. There are many great kosher restaurants here BUT Hikari is ABOVE AND BEYOND any other restaurant I have pretty much ever gone to. From their sushi to starters to their ribeye steak. Unreal. Hikari in Surfside, Florida is truly a unique and beautiful place to dine and experience exceptional Japanese cuisine. Most dishes felt small for the price. The king salmon was just okay. The Chilean seabass was disappointing. It was a very small piece, not very tasty and not prepared the way you would expect at this price point. The biggest problem is the cost. Insane. Our dinner for four came to $500 USD with no alcohol and no dessert. A mandatory 20 percent service charge was added as well. The pricing is far above similar spots. The fact that it is kosher does not justify the crazy jump in cost. Overall, it was a decent experience but not worth the price. If they revisit their pricing, I would consider coming back.

Most dishes felt small for the price. The king salmon was just okay. The Chilean seabass was disappointing. It was a very small piece, not very tasty and not prepared the way you would expect at this price point. The biggest problem is the cost. Insane. Our dinner for four came to $500 USD with no alcohol and no dessert. A mandatory 20 percent service charge was added as well. The pricing is far above similar spots. The fact that it is kosher does not justify the crazy jump in cost. Overall, it was a decent experience but not worth the price. If they revisit their pricing, I would consider coming back.

The lamb chops and cocktails brought this up to three stars, sushi was poor to mid, they need to step up their game, gyoza unremarkable, fried rice terrible, tempura mushrooms mid… Sushi ⭐️ food ⭐️⭐️ Service⭐️⭐️ Ambiance ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will not eat here again

Restaurants interior and food presentation is very nice. The food itself was ok. Sushi fried rice tasted over fried and they forgot to put in the sushi I’ve ordered. AC was freezing.

Absolutely horrible service, is crazy how they force you to pay 20% service charge for mediocre service. We came on a Saturday night and the restaurant was not full at all. The servers would walk right past our table make eye contact and keep on walking. The staff need serious training because this experience was insane. The fish is good but apart from that is a complete waste of time and money. They brought us a flat glass of champagne and a glass that tasted like soap with lychee. I have never been so insulted to dine at a restaurant.

This place was disappointing. beyond belief. Food: First of all, the tuna appetizer was BAD. Was it old fish? Sitting out too long ? It had the worst aftertaste - never had anything of this quality in a fine dining establishment. My husband noticed too. My husband's salmon was dry and overcooked, as well as the asparagus- which was a color I've never seen because it was so over cooked. The amount of vegetables was so so tiny on all the plates. I asked for the extra brocollini - the waiter said I'll try and of course never brought it. My sea bass was good, but came with just a small amount of puree of fennel. Atmosphere: this is dark noisy place on Thursday night - with a dj blaring music. Busy scene. This is Miami, if this is your thing - you will enjoy. It was so hard to talk. Plus, everything took so long dont come hungry. From start to finish, this was a 3.5 hour ordeal which I was so glad when it ended. I dont like writing negative reviews, but this place was not a good experience for us...one of the worst in my history of dining out.

Very underwhelming NYE experience. Service / waiter non existent. $160 worth of food marked up to $225 pre fixe. Short ribs were low quality meat and covered in fat (not in the good way). Very disappointing experience and could not recommend. Waiter non existent that I couldnt even express concern. Was supposed to come with a welcome drink - it never did. Harding Ave is a competitive mkt and if Hikari continues to shortcut low quality meat and small portions plus high prices, it will be hard to compete.

This place is not good. Lamb chops were bad. Ribeye was ok. The maki was below average. The hamachi was the silver lining. For the price, this place is horrendous. Honestly, it does a disservice to the japanese cuisine. The reviews were very good so I decided to try. Did not live up to the hype.

They serve tiny portions for a fortune, spent $900 for 3 couples with tax & tip, we ordered only 4 main dishes a few appetizers and a bottle of wine and 2 desserts. 300 a couple and we left hungry.

Gorgeous space, terrible experience. The fish was low quality, the noise was deafening, and the AC was freezing — even after we asked them to turn it down. Not worth the hype, time, or money.

had a reservation for February 15th at 8:00 PM. I tried to cancel on February 15th at 8:01 PM. The reservation was actually for the following day at 8:00 PM. The restaurant refused to consider the situation, claiming we were within the 24-hour cancellation policy. They charged $25 per person. This shows a clear lack of professionalism, and the manager’s response was disrespectful. I would strongly advise avoiding this type of establishment. They seem more focused on squeezing as much money as possible out of their customers.

Disappointing experience. We had a reservation but had to cancel due to a legitimate medical emergency. We canceled in advance, explained the situation, and were still charged a $50 no-show fee with no flexibility or empathy. I understand policies, but a little human decency goes a long way. Unfortunately, this left a very bad impression.

I had made a reservation and then had an emergency medical incident so I had to cancel the reservation. However, after trying to get through to them they said they cannot refund the $50 of the reservation fee under any circumstance. I am really upset because any normal business has the decency to waive a fee for medical emergencies even an airline does without hesitation.

Called two hours in advance due to an emergency and asked to reschedule, not cancel. Staff ignored my request, hung up multiple times, refused to explain any fees, and then charged $125 without disclosure. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing customer service.

We were seated outside, it started to rain and no server noticed. One of the entrees had not come out yet and we were an hour into the meal. Once the server came out he noticed it was raining and went inside. Left stranded, we carried our plates inside waiting for a table. After holding our plates for 10 minutes we got a table and when we went to complain, the server and manager were making excuses for the lack of service. Overall terrible experience, service and subpar food.

I ordered delivery with Uber eat, I ordered 4 hand rolls, which i wanted to have sushi rolls cut to 8 pcs, instead, I received 4 rolls not cut, size of a finger, not mention, 4 pcs with delivery cost me $71..!!! When I called to complain, the manager told me that this is not the hand roll that cut to 8 pcs, they call it Maki, when I looked at the menu, I was shocked, rolls 8 pcs cost about $30 !! Are you kidding me?? All over the area the most expensive roll is about $18 - $21, maybe its the time we will stop dining and funding those rip off restaurants and other places, this is ridiculous, how much can you be greedier and greedier and take advantage of jewish community. This is an outrage, if i would buy the 4 rolls, I would have paid approximately $140..sound logic to anyone??? Bad, Bad, Bad.
