Lava Island BBQ

Everything is delicious, but I wanted to give a shoutout to the short ribs and bbq pork bao- my favorite! The couple that runs the store is so kind and you can tell how much love they put into the food they make. 10/10!

I really like this place. I have taken friends here and they all like it. The rice bowl or sauce and the meats are really good. The potato macaroni salad and other sides and the sandwhiches. Basically anything on the menu i like. This older asia man i think might be the owner was there more around september or so i havent seen him the past couple times ive been there. He is very friendly and personable. One of the cashiers the past couple times is good but he needs to stop wearing earbuds unless its for a hearing reason. He seems disinterested and always asks to repeat myself. And he is playing video games on his ipad which im not attacking but no one wants to feel like theyre interrupting the workers who are meant to provide service to them and i know this from experience since i have worked in cpunter service before. But im not trying to trash him just giving feedback. Great job guys thank you, it is the best affordable place to eat near saddleback college. Much appreciated in Jesus name.

This is the best Hawaiian food I’ve had in a while!!! Huge portions, great quality food at and excellent price. Above all they have healthy options and you can see them prepare the food. Highly recommend this place. I went there for lunch and got two meat combo, short rib and shrimp.

The best Hawaiian BBQ I have ever had, by far. I had the chicken plate with yakisoba noodles. The chicken is extremely flavorful, and the yakisoba complements it well. The portions are very large, and my sides of cole slaw and egg rolls were excellent also. Highly recommended!

I was very impressed. While their menu is not huge, the quality more than makes up for it. I tried both the pork and chicken egg rolls. They were unique, and amazing. These are not your normal cabbage and carrot filled egg rolls with a bit of meat. No, these are like a Hawaiian version of a Taquito. They also have BBQ Pork as one of the options for their plates and bowls. It is really good. Tender and tasty. While their soda fountian is closed due to the current appocolypse, they have an awesome selection of Hawaiian Sun drink cans.

This place is great. The ambiance is a little lame but they make up for it with the food. The chicken always tastes great! The owner told me they never use frozen chicken and it shows! Check them out.

Food was pretty good here and came with extra sauce on the side. The food came out warm, and could've used a quick heat up on the griddle. Mactato salad they recommended was awesome. I would go back just to order that.

I got the 2 meat combo with beef bbq and chicken katsu. The rice that comes with my meal was a bit hard. The meat was decent beef a bit to chewy. Coslaw and mac/potatoe salad was not good at all.

Okay, first off Im from Hawaii so I have high expectations. Food kinda too dry for me and the sauce didnt taste custom. Expensive too for the amount you get. Now compared to other mainland Hawaiian bbq its right there. Mainlanders will Love this place. Time for kow kow!

This is probably my first review I've ever made. I had ordered the Kalbi plate and let me just say, it was very bland. I've never had Kalbi this tasteless. You could tell it wasn't well marinated long even if it even was miranated. If you are going to charge $20+ for a plate, please be sure it's well-seasoned. I know what Kalbi should taste like and this was not it.

Perhaps the adult could sign something or the price could be one third of the cost if there is some sort of liability. We will not be returning.

Please do not waste your time. Going to this place, it's ridiculous. The portions are for kids, and everything costs extra. I waited 20 minutes for a few dry pieces of chicken. No silverware, no napkins. Everything was cold, dry, and tasteless. Dressing for salad and chicken was half of teaspoon. What a disaster! Servers were casually sitting on stools, talking on the phone. Horrible experience. Will never go back. Alexa

A woman walked in after I did which I assume may or may not be with a delivery service. I was really looking forward to a new experience from the usual. The 5 stars and everyone raving about how great the food is was the reason for my visit. Customer service 101 gentlemen. Take it back to the cutting board and reevaluate why your doors remain open. May you and your staff have continued success during these times.
