Beans Cat Cafe New Paltz Reviews
We were visiting the area from New Jersey for a camping trip and just happened to stumble upon Beans Cat Cafe—and what a hidden gem! As someone who’s always dreamed of opening a cat cafe, this visit was such a treat. The space is cozy and welcoming, the menu was fun and unique (we loved the creative drink names!), and the cats were clearly so well cared for and content. After chatting with the owner, I left feeling even more inspired to open a cat cafe of my own someday. You can tell there’s a lot of love poured into this place. Wish we lived closer—we’d be regulars for sure!
This place is wonderful! I had an amazing chai and got to cuddle so many cats! I attended a craft night and it was such a great experience. Super nice staff!
Had a fabulous time visiting with some most-precious kitties who are lucky enough to call Beans home, if only temporarily. Adoptable cats chilling in roomy and bright space with seating, toys and a 25¢ treat dispenser to persuade maximum interaction. Coffee and treats available as well as knick knacks including mugs, shirts, plushies, pins and bags. Very friendly staff and laid back vibe. Can't wait to go back!
I’ve always been wary of cafes that use animals as an attraction like the ones in Thailand but this Cafe treats the cute kitties with respect. Their main goal is to find people to adopt the cats. They have strict rules about engaging the cats like no picking them up and no handling of the cats. You can play with the cats using the toys they have provided. It’s a great establishment that is looking out for the well-being of the abandoned cats. You can choose to book a 30 minute or an hour slot into the lounge.
Visited New Paltz after some time and was so ecstatic to find that they had opened up a cat café — I wish they had it when I was a student at SUNY, I would definitely have been there all the time! I adored spending time with the cats. Staff seem to really care about them. Love the lavender latte! There was a cute mural in the café section, alongside some cute cat merchandise. I came back another day to participate in cat yoga which was such a fun, yet therapeutic experience (thank you to Victoria from Stellar Yoga!). Thanks for making my little day trips to New Paltz memorable, and thanks for caring for the cats! 🐾♡
Lovely place for coffee, snack and some cuddles. The barista was very friendly and made a delicious chai. Wonderful way to spend an hour, highly recommend. Though be aware that they charge to spend time in the car room, $7.50 for 30 min & 12.50 for 60 min.
Cats were so big and sweet! Loved playing and hanging out with them. Great vibes, great tea, would hang again
Went for the cats more than the food. Got a muffin, lots of chips! Kitty cats so cute!!! Some were resting, some playful. Nice cat cafe. Spacious. Would recommend and return.
A cute little cat cafe with lots of adorable cats! All the cats were wonderful but Lil Jon the orange cat is especially a heart throb. The cat sessions need to be reserved in advance (which you can do in person) and you can set up 30 minute or 60 minute sessions.
Such a cute place! The people working were very nice and the cats are so cute! Love!!

Visited the cat Cafe a few weeks back and loved it! We pass by every week at night just to see what cats are there. We got to hang out for our allotted time slot and grabbed some coffee and cocoa and had an amazing time!
Visited this cafe last week, and I already miss hanging out with the cats and coffee! The staff are super friendly and sweet. I loved spending time with the cats - really cute and unique experience. I wish I could take all of them home! 🥹
Everyone should support these babies and possible adopt one! Such a fun time and everyone that was in the room with us was just a delight. The cashier and barista were very nice and welcoming! Go play with some kitties! You deserve it.
Loved it here. Loved meeting Olivia, and wish we could have taken her home. Such sweet cats!
Delicious drinks. Courteous staff. The cats are adorable. Parking stinks. It's New Paltz. Park in the municipal lot & walk
Was very inclusive and diverse. Cats are friendly - most of them. Good quite place for a quick cat love moment.

We were visiting family from Michigan, walking around the little downtown area of New Paltz, when I just happened to look down a side street and see "Cat Cafe". My daughter is a huge "cat lover" and I said, "oh my gosh, they have a cat cafe, do you want to go look in the window?" - we lasted all of 4 seconds before we were entering the front door, looking at spending some time with the sweet babies. My daughter and I each got a drink; we were told the ground rules (nothing surprising) and were advised to wash our hands upon entering. Immediately, I had the sweetest cats at my feet, rubbing my legs, looking for all the pets and love. My daughter had so much fun, and we both enjoyed our experience. if we didn't have a 10-hour drive and 2 cats at home, we would have applied to take one home. The kittens were so cute and playful. None of the cats were aggressive or ill tempered. My tiramisu cold brew was fantastic, and my daughter had a vanilla steamer. I found this place to be fairly priced and the cats seemed very well taken care of. The staff was friendly and told us all about the cats and where they came from and their stories. My ONLY issue with the cafe, as SOON as they opened the door to where all the cats were, the smell was awful. You can tell they really do try to mask or hide the smell and with that many cats, I'd imagine it's hard to do. But I couldn't even see litter boxes and the cat urine smell was fairly strong. All in all, if you love cats and want to enjoy 30 or so minutes of feline company and a tasty coffee, check out Beans! Took home a sweatshirt to remember my fun adventure with my girl.
I’ve been here a couple times and I enjoy it. The drinks are very good. Keep in mind that many of the cats do not want to be pet, which is normal for cats interacting with strangers. Getting treats from the treat dispenser definitely increases the chances of one interacting with you. Last time I went in the cat room it smelled strongly of cat pee. I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Hopefully it clears up. I also wish there was an age restriction, as I observed a little girl repeatedly petting a provoked cat that was clearly upset and eventually attempted to scratch her. I worry that kids are not good in this environment.

Loved the cat Cafe but I adopted a cat that I thought would be good with my daughter but she doesn't seem to like people much. My daughters an only child and she definitely isn't much of a cuddly cat at all even though her info said she was good with kids.
It was pretty neat. The lady was really patient with the cats. You could tell she really likes animals. The cats really varied in personality, and they were all rescues. It seems like a great environment for them, and they seem to warm up to people pretty quickly. It's a nice business model and a great second chance for some unfortunate older cats. Somebody found a way to keep them out of cages and make some money in the process. I like it.
