Crazy hole in the wall Chinese spot. Amazing TooGoodToGo deal, $4.99 for a seafood plate with two chowders. Limited outdoor seating to eat your meal with a quiet neighborhood.

I'll definitely come back again when I am in this part of town. The service was super quick. The 2 employees are just there to work and get you in and out. Only about 3-4 people can fit inside the restaurant to order. There are 2 wooden tables outside of the restaurant where you can eat. The food is definitely authentic Chinese food. I thought that this place was a bakery because of its name, but no it's not. There is buffet style food where you can pick out what you want. You pick 3 items over rice, but I didn't do that. I got 'too good to go' from the app and the meal I got was chicken with scrambled eggs and tomato over white rice. Congee with chicken and preserved eggs also came with my meal. It was tasty and I want to go back to try some of their other foods.

Had some wonderful dumplings before my bus. Fast service, very cheap, and I was very glad to see that they accept certain payment apps.

Carol’s Bun totally hits the spot when you’re craving something warm and satisfying. The soup dumplings are a standout — thin wrappers, rich broth, and so flavorful. The pan-fried buns have that perfect golden crust, and the noodles are chewy and comforting. Everything feels fresh and made with care. It’s a small, low-key place with big flavor — one of those hidden gems you’ll definitely come back to. 🥟🔥🍜

What an absolute hidden gem. It's been tough finding reasonably priced takeouts of anythig since the pandemic, and Carol's Bun is refreshingly reasonable with prices. Their food is full of wok hei! Their frozen dumplings (for cooking them at home) are awesome and I loved my 乾炒牛河. They even included a bun for my order whcih I'm so appreciative of 💕 If you want an authentic Chinese / Cantonese takeout joint, this is it. Feels just like home!

Very delicious!! UPDATE: keep going back and it remains consistently good and varied by day. I like to eat outside at the cafe table in front for the 'hardcore' experience. :-)

This is a no-frills, hole in the wall takeout spot where you can get a whole combination rice platter and a soup for under $10. The place is called Carol’s Bun, but don’t let the name fool you because they actually sell a variety of traditional Cantonese style dishes for a great value. We got a box of tomato and eggs, pork belly, and a radish tripe beef combination over rice. For their $9 lunch combo, you can choose either rice w/ 3 items or noodles w/ 2 items. The dishes rotate daily, and this is a great place to eat at if you want a variety of food for a low price. The food is fresh, hot, quick, and will for sure leave you with a full stomach! (139 E Broadway, New York, NY 10002) Open Thurs-Tues 9am-7pm (closed Wed) $9 lunch combo - rice w/ 3 items or noodles w/ 2 items

I was starving and their food really hit the spot! They have so many different varieties of sides to go with your rice- that I had trouble picking! The lady behind the counter serving me was able to speak Cantonese.

Great Chanese food, tastes as expected (I was born in the city that 100 miles close to China). I saw some visitors are getting confused by how simple this place look like, but the food and the choice is really awesome, which pushes its review score up.

Highly recommend. No frills, excellent homemade Cantonese food, and a good value. $8.50 lunch special, rice and 3 dishes with a bonus cup of broth. Photos of my lunches below! I arrived just before 12pm Sat and several beautiful freshly hot dishes were ready to be served. I got the pigs feet, soy sauce chicken and steamed fish, great flavors and just like how my parents made them. There were at least 20 dishes that I'll have to come back for! No room for seating, except for a lonely table outside. Seward park is close enough to enjoy!

Carol's Bun is a small Chinese takeout restaurant wedged between Chinatown & the Lower East Side on East Broadway. there's no seating except for a single table out front...the interior is basically the narrow area where you order from the already-prepared hot foods on display OR place an order for the kitchen. most people order from the hot food bar where you can pick and choose whatever is on display and prepared that day. the dishes rotate daily, so it's not the same choices every day. the food, here, is exceedingly good for the price. last time i was here--i got the special which is three sides over rice and got curried chicken and vegetables, fried batter fish, and bokchoy. the serving is ample and you get a lot of each side as well as rice. the rice was fluffy and tasted fresh bc the turnover is high so they constantly have to make more. the chicken curry and veggies was really flavorful. and the fried battered fish was crunchy and savory. definitely a great place to try if you're hungry and want a variety of eats on one plate. the special of three sides over rice is $7.50 + tip. Carol is friendly and patient. i have only been here after the lunch rush and there are a lot of dishes still available.

Carol’s Bun is a nice hole-in-the-wall located in Chinatown. I went there to grab a Too Good To Go order and also ordered their fried shishamo which was delicious. The lady threw in a free soup for me which was really nice. They are cash only but they also take Venmo.

A take out place that offers authentic Cantonese food. I had 猪耳朵, 烤乳鸽,牛杂. All of them taste great. Clean and fresh. There is one small table outside the store no place to sit inside so it's for takeout only.

I'm so glad to discover this place. Don't bother with the menu items, go inside and check out the off the menu dishes already prepared and for you to pick and choose. You can select 3 items and comes with rice and soup for $7. Choices were limited when I got here at 5:00. I got the half braised duck which was packed and heavy for $12! When I get half a duck at other places, they omit the wing and lacking meat. The taste is delicious, almost as good as Bo Ky. I also got an entree size of the Thai sweet chilli fried chicken. The lady gave me all of it since it's close to closing. The flavor is really good, but the skin was no longer crispy. That's was expected, but it's really delicious. Also got the cooked broccoli and bok choy. Everything cost $22 and meals to last for days.

Delicious lunch box express 👍👍 For $9.00 you get 3 cuisine selections over rice. It’s a very simple & flavorful meal. The food is freshest during lunch hours as it comes out from the kitchen and is kept warm over steamed containers. It’s a good variety that will satisfy any palate. Ranging from chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, fish, and wonderful vegetables. I really like the curry chicken with 2 sides of veggies. The cooking reminds me a bit of grandmas. 🙏🏻 11/16/25. $9 lunch box is now 10 bucks

probably very good but ordered congee and they hungup before i could tell them 2nd congee, called again asking for plain congee and they said there is no plain as the congee is already cooking with pork in it.... welp, had to cancel the beef congee initially ordered but apparently thats the secret bomb with stupid people handling food that whats good for them is good for everyone.

Lunch combo of whatever is fresh and hot for $8 is a great deal with lots of diverse flavors. My colleague got this, and I will be sure to get it next time. I had beef brisket over rice which was a generous portion, quick, and delicious. Ate out on the one table on the street. There was a constant and steady line during the 30 min I sat there.

Very tiny old space. I saw people recommend this place for lunch combo or dish to take out. I got fried shishamo 炸多春魚 $8 and 豬耳 pig ears $7.5 Both dish was amazing. Everything is fresh made everyday. The deep fried fish they cook after I order so I wait about 10 mins there. I ate a few right away, Crispy outside, and seasoning was amazing! definitely worth to wait! While I was waiting, people start to line up to get lunch combo. Only $5.75 ! Good place to grab quick and cheap lunch!
