Mokyo New York Reviews
I come here during the summer for some tacos. The ladies are nice and bring the food to your table. The food is hot and great to order to go as well. Love love love their tacos !!
This is my go-to taco spot when I’m in the area. The servers / folks at the counter are nice, and the food is awesome — it’s so tasty, and you can tell they use quality, fresh ingredients. The place is tight and a little pricey, but neither of those things are uncommon in this neighborhood.
Came in not too long before close with three other people and they were super accommodating, great customer service and amazing food!! Would absolutely come back here again ☺️
Great place for Taco Tuesday - they are tasty and fresh! The margaritas are amazing, 5 bucks all day every day, a bargain. Also very friendly staff! A nice new spot for the EV.
Very nice place small don’t fit a lot of people but they taco, tostada, and bow was really good
Hole in the wall spot, can probably fit about 8 people at once but let me tell you...the food is DELICIOUS. I had the al pastor tacos which were divine and my sister had the enchiladas which were very tasty. Also the service is pretty good. Can't wait to go back!
These are some of the best tacos I’ve had in New York City in a long time. Home made tortillas are wonderful and their sauces, to die for. Their pork meats are very well cooked and seasoned - full of flavor and tender. If you’re up for an adventure try the pozole.
Absolutely delicious tacos! Traditional, fresh and tasty. The fish tostada was a hit!
This place is freaking amazing!!! I have never written a review for any restaurant in the past, but this place deserves it. I got the chicken rice bowl and it was absolutely delicious!!! It's been so hard to find a legit Mexican restaurant since I moved into the city. Also beware of the sauces they provide, one of them tasted amazing and I knew it was spicy but man did it kick my butt (in a good way)!!!
Love love love this. One of my favorite taco joints of the city. Simple and fresh. Definitely worth checking out, they’re super nice too. I love their al pastor and carnitas tacos on a corn tortilla. Bring cash to save 4%
Look, I think that anything I attempt to say about this place will never quite suffice because it's really *that* good. However, I will attempt to explain why I have even told people on more than one occasion that their burrito is akin to a metaphorical food of the gods. This is authentic Mexican food at its finest. It's not laden with salt to make up for a lack of seasoning. It's not generic tex-mex. It's no frills, super tasty (they don't know the meaning of bland) and ultra fulfilling Mexican food done right. Let's talk about their burritos. You get a gargantuan burrito packed with the tastiest rice of its kind around (if you opt for the vegetarian option which is *excellent*), your choice of meat, lettuce, queso fresco (fresh), onions, chopped tomatoes, guacamole and a nice tiny sprinkle of fresh grated cheese and sour cream. If you ask for it 'hot', they really pack a punch with the spice so unless you are ready to commit in that way, you may want to first try it without the super spicy stuff (which, by the way, brings the burrito to a whole other level of awesome if you love hot and spicy food). I can't imagine a world or the East Village without this beloved truck.
I live across the street and this is definitely my go to spot for tacos, burritos and tostadas. They have a really great selection and the portions are always very generous. My favorite is the Beef Tongue (Lengua) and the Goat. Put these meats on your choice of entree and you have one of the best bang for your buck meals in the area.
They have the most tender, delicious softshell fish tacos, that come with lime slices, and I always choose the green sauce cuz it's nice and spicy! The shrimp and chicken tacos are great too! Perfect service and food every time, ya can't beat Morelo's tacos!
Amazing food! The tacos (homemade tortillas) are some of the best I've ever had! Went in on a Monday afternoon - Danny and the rest of the staff were really friendly and made it a fun lunch!
Great customer service. They accidentally gave us someone else’s order and when the owner realized, she sent an order to our apartment free of charge. AMAZING SERVICE!
Open until late, and the tacos are absolutely delicious. Great place to stop by during/after some bar hopping.
Tacos Cuautla Morelos is a true hidden gem that stands out for its authenticity and incredible flavors. From the moment I saw the name, I knew I was in for something special, especially since I have family from Cuautla, Morelos. This small family-run spot really captures the essence of the region’s cuisine, and it does not disappoint. The steak tostada and al pastor taco are both absolutely delicious, with perfectly seasoned meat that’s tender and full of flavor. The green and red sauces are a must-try—each brings its own unique kick that complements the tacos perfectly. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food that feels like a taste of home, Tacos Cuautla Morelos is the place to go. Highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good, honest food!
Fantastic tostadas, especially the coxhinita pibil. Cute space, sweet staff.
this place is excellent. If you are looking for quaint with good food, I’d say this is one of the best mexican spots in a 30 min radius, only bested by a train ride to brooklyn or queens. This is the mom and pop shop. This is a gem of the community if you actually live here and you actually desire good food.
Some of the best tacos ever had. Authentic
The BEST tacos in EV/LES. Made with perfection consistently each time. Lovely staff and smiling faces is a bonus 🌟
Delicious! I had a tasty vegetarian burrito and it really hit the spot. I took it to go and they made my burrito quickly. Inside the decor is very simple, small, and they have a tv too. The guy who took my order was very helpful and nice. When I asked tap water while I waited , he obliged. A vegetarian burrito with tax is 10.83. Most importantly it is cash only inside. Hope this helps!
We're regulars and after having quite a lot of things on the menu I have to say you can't really go wrong. I'd say my favorite tacos are the Spicy pork, steak, and chorizo. The tostada was also very good but tbh I sort of had a hard time eating it since it's like a hard shell pizza. But it was still good!
I loved the cemitas. Came here during our weeklong trip to NY. My family and I were on the hunt for authentic Mexican food and we were lucky to come across this place. The customer service is top notch and we left with a smile on our faces alongside a full stomach of good food.
AMAZING! These are absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed every single bite. They are also very big so I think the price is fair! The counter lady was very sweet & the red & green sauce is a must, I would like it to be spicer.
This is a staple weeknight spot in my East Village restaurant rotation. I’m from Texas and pretty critical when it comes to tacos in the city. My favorites are the Spicy Chicken (Tinga) and Al Pastor, both on homemade corn tortillas. Prices are pretty good and the service is fairly speedy.
Legit some of the best tacos I've ever had. The homemade tortillas are to die for, the meat perfectly seasoned and just slightly crispy/crunchy, the avocado sauce light and complimentary. Service was great too.
Good was delicious, the vibes were amazing!. Loved this cute little spot.
Solid steak burrito! Super flavorful and I love that it was toasted after it was wrapped. Slightly crispy on the outside. Will be back
Cheese enchiladas so good. The red sauce was delicious. Loved the three sauces, especially the spicy green one! And they had corn tortillas for quesadillas
I love this place. The tacos are always on point. I love the simplicity of it all. Truly authentic
My favorite place. Fantastic food, not overpriced, and lovely people. Makes my day every time.
Legit. Homemade tortillas. Cochinita Pibil, carnitas, and Enchilada tacos were delicious. Small sized Mexicoke too!
Very small cozy place to get Spanish's/Mexicans cuisine. Very clean bathroom, no parking. For the price, I think they can give more, but I'm not complaining
I go here everytime I'm in NYC. The place is small and cost, staff are nice and quantities are big. Vegetarian friendly and delicious! Be sure to take cash.
VERY VERY GOOD TACOS. Had to give them three stars cause if the prices. 2 tacos came out to $10.19... They have a very solid flavor profile when it comes seasoning the meat. Although they did leave a lot of fat on the meat, that could have been cooked off or trimmed before cooking. Flavor was solid. I always enjoy a homemade tortilla over one that store bought. I will give them credit for that. There are better taco options in New York and lots for a better price. I do understand that rent must be paid, and workers need to be paid a fair wage as well. With that being said, if the tacos weren’t $4.50 + Tax + 4% Card Fee.... I would have maybe given them 4 stars.
This place is a small gem. It's very simple and straightforward. It's a good spot if you want to grab a quick bite. I'm in love with the green enchiladas. The torta was ok. It could be better. This place is good for takeout , and if you want to stay. It only has a few seats available, barely any moving space.
Waited an hour for my burrito bowl, only to not have a plastic fork with my delivery. I ordered to a bar that did not have any utensils, so I just sat there with my mouth watering as my food got cold.
Ordered delievry, so the service was fine, as was the atmosphere. Is it under new management? Did Ai replace cooking staff? Food had 0 flavor. Cheese was the first layer of taco, not sprinkled on top. Watery guac. Asked for no dairy in burrito but it came with. May not have contained chicken. Soupy fajita.
The absolute worst Mexican food Ive ever had. I ordered cheese enchiladas with mole sauce and it came with seasoned rice and beans. The rice was WAY overcooked—so much so that it was literally falling apart on my fork. The entire meal was tasteless except for an occasional hit of hot pepper. To top it off, it was overpriced at $18.
Adequate food, but they recently added a 4% fee for using credit cards. They put up a small sign about a cash discount, but rather than discount the price for cash they just added an automatic fee for the credit card machine. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in the east village. This place isn't nice enough to justify deceptive business practices.
ordered a cemita and there was actually hair all over it, inside both the wrappings and it tasted pretty bad before I noticed the hair. it was expensive too, like 15 bucks.
This “quesadilla” was $13.60 before tip. Way overpriced, terrible food, wouldn’t recommend. Don’t understand how this spot has high reviews They also have a misleading 4% fee for using credit cards. They put up a small sign about a cash discount, but rather than discount the price for cash they just added an automatic fee for credit cards
Not sure why the restaurant thought this was acceptable to give to a customer. I got the quesadilla with pork carnitas… it looks like they didn’t even cook the outside, there’s hardly any meat, and it’s severely lacking in flavor. Majority of filling is bland lettuce. Will not be back.
HORRIBLE customer service is an understatement!!! They intentionally did not serve one person in our party until long after everyone else including a person who arrived later and ordered THE EXACT SAME DISH. They even brought out food for the 3 tables that were seated after us. When confronted the excuse was that it takes time however it would seem to have been racially motivated which is in today's climate is an unfortunate way of life. I'd say the best thing to do would be save yourself the frustration and hunger pains and spend your money somewhere where else.
