Authentic Korean barbecue with bold, traditional flavors and high-quality meats. The grilling experience at the table makes it interactive and fun, and the banchan selection really completes the meal. Service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere made it a very enjoyable dining experience. I’d definitely come back.

New favorite KBBQ spot in Oakland. I was really impressed with how fresh the meat was, and they have a huge variety to choose from. It’s hard to find a place this good that doesn’t totally wreck your wallet, but the price here is really fair. Definitely coming back with a bigger group next time!

Delicious koren BBQ! I go there for the dol sot bibimbap- it's amazing on a cold night. Yummy dumpling too. Full bar is also nice. It can be very crowded. Try after 7 on a Monday night.

On holiday from Australia, we almost accidentally found this place and pleasantly surprised. The menu was very extensive and the food was genuine and excellent. The service was great. Strongly recommend.

Absolutely amazing!!! I've come here ever since I was a little kid, and it's really good. This restaurant is a truly authentic kbbq, the waiters do speak fluent Korean. Came here recently around lunch and there was no wait! Me and my plus twos were seated rather quickly. We ordered the all you can eat, which is pretty worth it. Keep in mind that you have to finish eating in 2 hours, and that if you have leftover meat you have to pay extra! Anyways, at each table there's two complimentary sauces, one is really salty and another is kind of like soy sauce. Soon, a waiter/waitress will arrive and give you the banchan (side dishes), which are amazing. I highly recommend the fried potatoes. After that, you order and then you.... wait. Usually the wait is five to 15 minutes, it varies a lot because there's rush hour and all the staff members have to cater to all the customers. Once you get your food (aka raw meat and stuff) you just grill it and BOOM! it's delicious. Dipping it in the sauce is great- it kind of cools it down and just adds great flavor. This time we also order some noodles (i forgot the name) that were cold, which actually tasted really good. I'm glad I come here, because the food is just great, if you cook it well haha. But the meat is actually pretty good quality! You can also ask for lettuce to wrap the meat in, and they'll give you a paste as well (not sure if its ssamjang or doenjang, I don't know much about Korean culture but I love it). I highly recommend doing this because it's really good!! I also add some banchan in the wrap which is delicious. Keep in mind the banchan is complimentary and you can always ask for more! Anyways, this restaurant is just awesome. Please come here. You won't regret it. AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT THOSE POTATOES! THEY'RE MY LIFE AND SOUL /lighthearted /half kidding

This review is only for lunch special. This place is currently my favorite spot for galbi with an insanely good price. With the Galbi combo, it’s $24.99 and comes with cold noodles, really tasty banchans (side dishes), soup of choice (I do tofu soup), and galbi. Everything was so delicious and the pricing is great especially in this economy. The restaurant interior isn’t anything crazy but the service is phenomenal! You know it’s good and authentic when Korean grandmas are serving you. Parking is street parking - I’ve never had problem during lunch hour finding street parking but might be different later at night time. Overall, been here twice and it’s been consistently good. Definitely my go-to for cheap galbi and tofu soup! Might give the AYCE Korean bbq a try some time.

Yeah I really like this place. If you’re visiting and trying to find food you can’t get most other places go here. The staff is friendly wonderful and attentive and the food is great. Get the all you can eat and have an amazing time getting meat sweats for around 30 bucks. Other things like soups and kimchi there is also sold. It’s a little divey feeling but in only the best ways. Come here you won’t be disappointed.

This was not my first visit to Jong Ga House, and it is most certainly not my last. I frequent Jong Ga House when I’m craving korean bbq that reminds me of home. I have celebrated several birthdays amongst my friends here because it is perfect for large groups and they even throw in a birthday discount ($22.99 for the birthday person), two scoops of ice cream, and they play happy birthday through the speakers across the restaurant! They never fail to provide excellent, attentive service as well as authentic Korean bbq that keeps you wanting more. This is also one of the more affordable all you can eat (AYCE) kbbq spots in the East Bay. Lunch & happy hour (9pm-11pm) is $29.99/person and dinner is only $32.99. Compared to other spots that charge nearly $50/person and often have slower service or marinades that don’t quite capture traditional Korean flavors, Jong Ga House knocks it out of the park in every category. I especially love that they offer Mul Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy buckwheat noodles) on the AYCE menu. These noodle dishes pair perfectly with freshly grilled Kalbi, so it is always a delight to be able to order one of these with my meal here. Mul Naengmyeon is always served with a side of hot mustard and vinegar to mix in to taste. It is such a refreshing dish that brightens your whole meal, make it as spicy or as sour as you want! Pro Tip: Be sure to cut your noodles into smaller pieces, they are super-duper chewy! Everything here is an absolute hit, but you have to try their Kimchi Pancake, Caramelized Fried potatoes, and, of course, the corn cheese! (Usually I order one of each per 2 people) You don’t have to worry about filling up too fast on the sides—the portion sizes are thoughtful, and you can always let them know if your table wants more or less of a serving. In addition to their banchan (complimentary side dishes that you can refill at most Korean restaurants), they also offer Booricha (roasted barley tea) which helps to cut the grease of some richer meats, like pork belly and intestine. Beyond the food, the stellar service has kept me coming back. During one of my first visits, I came with a party of eight, and one of our friends was vegetarian. The staff kindly let her order from the regular menu while the rest of us enjoyed the AYCE KBBQ + hotpot combo. (FYI: the hotpot add-on is available for parties of 5+ for just $10 more.) It’s the little things that they continue to do that make them my favorite Korean bbq spot in the east bay. Come give this small business a visit and eat your heart out!

Went out for my birthday and love the all you can eat bbq. They charge less for the birthday girl and also give us free ice cream with a surprise of birthday song. The server was amazing and always come out with warm face. Good luck Mr. Jongga. Will deff come back.

THE BEST service I've ever experienced! Went here with my cousin simply because we saw it from outside and decided to try a new kbbq spot. Let me tell you, I have come to expect long wait times for a table, minimum 10-15min to get our meats out, staff that barely check up on you; from kbbq places. But not this place! I was extremely surprised when we were sat and had our meats and dishes in front of us within FIVE minutes, maybe even less! The food was delicious, great quality, and we never felt ignored or rushed to leave by staff! Our little party of 2 felt just as important as the other families dining. They even blasted happy birthday over the speakers and sang for one of the groups who was there for a birthday, which I thought was super cute! 100% percent will recommend to anyone and 1000% coming here again!!

Oakland and Grand Avenue are a culinary delight. Snuck down here on a time crunch before a college football game and thought I entered a slice of heaven. The restaurant was very busy and the staff attentive and knowledgeable. We chose the all you can eat which we did trying everything we could. Besides the scrumptious flavors, the food didn’t leave you with a heavy feeling. The Bulgogi and the calamari were my favorites. I highly recommend this spot.

This is a must stop. The food is always delicious. Lunch and dinner menu have deals and numerous options. Dishes served with traditional sides. Always the same great quality never disappoints. 4 lunch combos 2 beers 1 diet Coke $95 Very reasonable.

Some of the best kbbq in town. Meat is good quality, veggies are fresh. For being super busy the staff is very attentive and you're never waiting long for more food or drinks. Recommended calling to make a reservation especially during peak dinner hours!

Excellent Korean spot with quality meats and side dishes "banchan". We got the all you can eat and there was a discount for the toddler and baby obviously free. We were served upstairs so it was less smoky but definitely away from the action. Server was courteous, forgot a few things, but overall it was fast service. Definitely come again.

Not as trendy or upscale as the newer Korean restaurants in Alameda, Jong Ga house serves solid traditional Korean fare in old locale on Lakeshore Avenue in oakland. The building and interior is reminiscent of an old restaurant you might see in downtown Seoul. The downstairs is devoted to BBQ with a few tables for other dining. Theres a room upstairs for non BBQ diners. It's an old karaoke room. Food wise, we liked what we ordered with the exception of the fried chicken . The seafood pancake was good with a hefty portion. Pan fried oysters were cooked inside a scrambled egg pocket. Fishy to some, delicious to us. The fried chicken appetizer was not good..soggy on the outside and dry flavorless on the inside. Avoid this one. The short rib beef bone soup was fantastic. Smoky and intensely flavorful, it's delicious. It's pricey though As with most Korean restaurants, everything seems to be made from scratch. Its labor intensive and that probably explains the higher prices. Portions are fairly and Prices are moderate as Korean food can get expensive. They have an all you can eat BBQ offer as well.similar to Gogi time or Gen BBQ. Street parking can be difficult and the neighborhood is a little gritty, especially at night. Jong Ga has been around for a long time. I expect it to be around for many years to come. Give it a try if you find yourself in the area.

1st time here. Side dishes get refilled without request. Very friendly service. Not as much meat selections as GenBBQ but still has plenty of meat selections to get your Korean bbq fix. It has a lot of other dishes that Gen doesn't have and I can't wait to go back and try them! The price is a few dollars more than GenBbq for dinner and lunch. Comparing these two because it's two of my fav KBBQ fixes. Give it a shot and support local businesses. Parking is probably a bit tougher.

We went for the Dakgalbi. The food was good but there were not many chickens in the pan though. The service was ok, the waitress at first didnt pay attention whether they had the stove turned on or not. We had to ask for it. They didnt seem to pay much attention to serve us though. But if you want to try the Dakgalbi, you can still try this place out. The price is fair for this dish.

My family went on a weekday during lunch and had all you can eat for my birthday. We called ahead to ask about parking but the person who answered the call didn’t seem to understand and I thought it was poor connections. We found out after we arrived and started to order that the two waitresses barely understood or spoke English. They didn’t give us the kitchen shear or the tongs so we had to get it ourselves. I saw they had some sauces near the kitchen counter but when I asked about them they couldn’t tell me what they were. Another waitress who was not working that day was having lunch with friends and she was so nice to come over and help us several times. I felt so bad interrupting her lunch multiple times. The food was good and we love the octopus but we are not going to come back again. Every time we need more food we had to point and gesture; not being able to communicate what we want was really frustrating. They should to change the menu to all photos or do something so they it’s easier to order.

Parking is difficult since there's only a few paid street spots. Service was friendly and adequate but got slow when they were busy. Lots of side dishes and cold soup was included which was great! The lunch special seemed like a good deal, including a main, rice and soup. Main dishes were brought out hot but not everything tasted good. Bimbimbap lacked meat and tofu soup wasn't great. Bulgolgi was pretty decent. Overall not a bad experience but not one that would make me want to return.

Food was good but not out of this world for Korean bbq. I give this a 2 star because where I was sat, the bus boy had to get me out of my chair to get thru which was a horrible experience. And this went on at least 3-4 times. Sometime he would just bump me as if I knew to get up from the back. I don't have eyes in the back of my head.

This is our second time, we tried lunch specials bulgogi and kimchi soup and came with rice and some cold noodles soup, but the rice had a smelly smell, we didn’t know until we eat and I think it’s an old rice so we will not come back here again. Even if our first time was not good either

Lingling

Unfortunately, not my spot. The service is incredibly slow, requiring multiple calls for even basic requests. Numerous mix-ups with orders were frustrating. The food quality is mediocre, with only the short rib standing out positively. The pork belly and steak were disappointing. There are better and more affordable options available, and the limited menu adds to the drawbacks.
