Petra Sacramento Reviews
I’ve been coming here for over a year, and the consistency never fails. The staff know my name and treat me like family. The food is always fresh, from the crisp horiatiki salad to the perfectly seasoned souvlaki. The ambiance is a mix of comfort and tradition, with familiar faces and warm service. It’s more than a restaurant—it feels like part of the neighborhood, a place I can count on every time.
This Greek restaurant in Midtown Sacramento offered a wonderfully comforting experience. The lamb gyro was tender and full of flavor, and the tzatziki tasted incredibly fresh with just the right tang. The staff were warm and attentive, creating a relaxed atmosphere that felt genuine rather than forced. It’s the kind of place where you slow down, enjoy every bite, and feel completely at home.
Great food and fast service for something made to order. The menu is straight forward and complete with anything you'd want from a Greek restaurant for comfort food. The place is cozy and it feels like someone has put thought and care into their business while being conscious about cost and the clientele it serves. The portions are generous and delicious. You might be inclined to order to go but consider eating in. It's a cozy and great experience.
The food was excellent, and the service was top notch. It’s one of my favorite places to come to in the downtown area. The lamb Gyros are absolutely delicious, and when Maggie is behind the counter I always get great service with a smile. Can’t reined this place enough!
Our favorite Greek restaurant! We drive 45 mins to come here for special occasions. Food is excellent and well seasoned. I got the chicken souvlaki plate with full side salad and hummus. My husband got the gyro plate with fries and tzatziki sauce. This place never disappoints! Their fry sauce that they have near the soda machine station is delicious as well.
Wow. This was probably one of the best gyros I've ever had. A generous serving of meat served with a fantastic tzatziki sauce, tomato, and topped with French fries. For this one, I even added feta cheese crumbles. The meat was full of flavor and and the sauce complimented it perfectly. The service is fast and friendly, and I'm sad I'll have to wait another year for the annual CTE conference to come here again.
This is a nice low key spot to have great food. The food is fresh and well seasoned. The portions are amazing for the cost. The Petra crew are all awesome. I've been here like five times and no matter what I order, I am completely satisfied. In fact, this restaurant is in my top 3 suggestions to family and friends. Parking can be a challenge. However it's downtown so it's not a surprise. And trust me, this food is amazing!!!
First time going to this place. I went for lunch and bought a Gyro. Gyro was good. In my opinion I think the meat needed more flavor. However, the price is reasonable for the amount of meat you get on your Gyro. Also, the staff are friendly, helpful and respectful. The restaurant also offers a 10% discount for law enforcement, military, and fireman.
Their beef/lamp gyro was quite tasty. I was hoping it would came out warmer. Cold made made tasty meat not super tasty. Greek salad was fresh with tasty dressing, though I was hoping for more green. Pitta bread was alright as well. Dolmades was quite flavorful as well. The rice and grape leaves were well cooked, just a little too sour for my taste.
Grabbed a quick lunch here on a busy day. Best choice ever! The service is fast and friendly, the portions are more than ample, the food is delicious. The lamb gyro was fresh, hot and tasty and the baklava was out of this world delicious! It changed baklava for me forever! It is the best!
Decent lamb and beef gyro meat. Not dry like nearly every gyro place in Sacramento. Not incredible, but good. Soft bread. Súper friendly and fast service. Outrageous prices: $14 sandwich, $17.50 gyro salad, $26 meat platter and soda, $36+ for lamb chop. When the decor is like a 90s Subway Sandwich shop, I felt some kind of way paying that much at lunchtime, but the food will not disappoint if that makes sense.
Food was delicious. Lamb was great. Over all it took quite some time to have the food brought out. (30 minutes for any chicken dishes) but the meals were absolutely over priced. I get it, it's in the city, but when you're paying over $20+ for a $6 Gyro with a few French fries and a fountain drink,... hard pass. You can drive to any other gyro spot for a cheaper meal that tastes just as good. The city restaraunts are dying, not becuase no one goes there anymore, it's because no one wants to spend 2x-3x the price of something they can get 15 minutes away cheaper with better (and free) parking. TLDR; food good, service slow, price IS WAY out of line with comparable places. 15 minutes away.
Service and atmosphere were great for the available space. High chairs are available. Food was okay. I would order again if I were in the area with no other options. I ordered the lamb with fries. Each lamb was cooked to a different temperature. The fries and the fry sauce were perfect. The tzatziki sauce and the hummus was really thick. I was unable to scoop any hummus with my pita bread. Food presentation is great. Food quality is on par with a diner. I think the food was fairly priced. 3 stars
For customers who order takeout, they don't even pay attention to you. I waited 20 minutes, they prepared my order and put it on the shelf, and I waited another 5 minutes, although before that I approached the employee and asked if my order was ready twice. In the end, I waited 25 minutes and they didn't even apologize.
