McCarthy's Irish Pub San Andrés Reviews
I went here bc nowhere else was open and it was near my hotel. In no which way does this discount the experience. I came alone and the bar was almost full however i was able to find an amazing corner spot. the bartenders were very nice and most were actually irish so it felt like the most authentic irish experience you could get outside of ireland. Regardless of that they were very nice and attentive, and there was even live music which i had been looking for during my short stay. Definitely pop in here if you’re in the area!
During my week long bar hopping escapade in NY, one of my servers during my visit recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. The live music sold me on the place the moment I arrived. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I was all for the vibe and glad I was able to stop by.
Great atmosphere, delicious food & cozy! Service was amazing & the food so many delicious entrees to choose from
My uncle and I stopped in to have a few drinks before heading home to the airport. We both sat at the bar and had Sean as our bartender. He was so amazing and very friendly. Definitely rate our experience a 10/10. When we go back to NYC, McCarthy’s Pub will definitely be on our list !!
Went in for lunch today with friends and had a great experience. Our server was amazing — gave great recommendations and was very attentive. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Even though it was packed, service was quick and friendly. Will definitely be back.
First time in New York and found this bar/restaurant off Times Square. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Great American Irish food shepherd’s pie and fish & chips were top-notch same as the Guinness. Live music added a brilliant vibe to the night. Perfect spot for good food, drinks. Will definitely be back next time I’m in NYC!
The bartenders bring an amazing fun and personal vibe to an area that could otherwise feel very commercial and touristy (Times Square). Madeleine and (later) Cian took great care of us and made sure we never had an empty glass nearby. They added a lot to our night and made it an extremely fun and cozy night out!
Needless to say, this place is an absolute hidden gem in Times Square. I don’t usually drink Guinness to this extent, but when I come here, they go down easy—and the pours are as close to being back in Ireland as you can get. The real standout is Sean, the man himself. He’s a class-A bartender straight from Ireland who knows how to pour a perfect pint, stay attentive, and keep the vibe alive. Honestly, we came back here two nights in a row just because of Sean—he makes everyone feel welcome, whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time. The atmosphere seals the deal. They’ve got that live bar energy that so many places have lost—great music, great conversation, and that feeling you don’t want the night to end. Part of me didn’t want to write this review because some things are better kept secret, but I’d be doing everyone a disservice if I didn’t. So go, ask for Sean, and tell him Reggie the Eagles fan sent you—and make sure to give him some grief since he’s a Ravens fan and a Man United guy. Cheers, mate. 🍻
An absolute hidden gem among the outskirts of times square. Wonderful prompt service. I'll be dreaming of the braised short ribs in that divine red wine reduction sauce for a year until we come back. Id drink it from a pint glass it's so damn delicious. Thank you for a very lovely night out. Can't wait to return august 2026. 🤗
This is our third night here on our New York trip and it’s almost entirely because of the amazing staff but don’t get me wrong the food is really good too! The live music is nice we came on week nights and the atmosphere was great every night! I will definitely be returning on my next trip to New York!
My husband and I are in NYC for the first time and we were walking around Times Square and saw their beautiful decorations. The atmosphere inside is so relaxing and the staff is incredibly kind. It’s the perfect break from the hustle and bustle. They had the best soup and shepherds pie I’ve ever had. The prices were extremely reasonable!
I can vouch that this is a proper Irish-American pub. They got proper Guinness like at home (the pint size however is smaller than Ireland). Poured by a Kerry Man, so we know it is a proper one. 🍻 Staff members are all super duper nice. Good wise, it is mostly American stuffs. They are decent though. Would highly recommed it for anyone who wants to experience Irish pub. Be warned though, the amount of alcohol served in cocktails are way higher than in Ireland. Cocktails are stronger.
I stopped in for dinner one night with a party of 10. Overall the servers did a good job of waiting on us and getting what we need. The food itself was good. For an appetizer, we had the chips with gauc and queso. Then I had the sliders appetizer as my meal. The sliders were good with the chips. The bread that the sliders were in were okay. The bar is nicely appointed and has good bathrooms. My only note was that our food took a really long time. Most of us split a plate and it took almost 45 minutes.
Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was understandably packed. We were sat upstairs. We were there for what we thought was happy hour but our waitress told us that happy hour was over because they "were too busy". My friend ordered a McCarthy lager which was just a Bud Light in a draft glass. We ordered one appetizer and asked to keep our menus so we could continue looking. Our waitress came by three times to ask if we were ready to order more food (totally understandable) each time we said we werent sure yet as we werent and its a bar so we were just trying to enjoy the vibe. On the 4th time she came by and took the menus from us and stated "so just the pretzel bites" didnt pause for us to answer and walked off. Pretzel bites arrived and were horrendous. Clearly Sysco food that was frozen and then microwaved . The cost for 7 pretzel bites was $17!!!! What a rip off - oh my god. There are one million better Irish pubs in NYC and in the area. Go anywhere else. This place is a ripoff.
One of the worst bar experiences I’ve had in Manhattan. From the moment we walked in, there was zero greeting, zero acknowledgment, and zero respect. The service was careless, dismissive, and outright rude. A white male staff member treated us like an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Drinks were slammed onto the table — spilling beer and knocking cream all over the surface — without a single apology. When giving change, he literally shook a wad of cash at us in an aggressive, condescending way, as if we were beneath him. This wasn’t “busy bar energy.” This was unprofessional, sloppy, and disrespectful behavior. A place that can’t manage basic courtesy or clean service doesn’t deserve customers. What should’ve been a simple night out ended up ruining the entire evening. I won’t be back — and I strongly suggest others think twice before spending their money here.
They have signs outside inviting you in for HAPPY HOUR, sadly this is not true on our visit today…… Apparently they are not offering ‘happy hour’!!!!!!! We were told that was for Christmas only but they still have the boards outside saying happy hour? I don’t like to give negative reviews however, I don’t like being lied to as well so for me it’s false advertising!
