Bahn Mi King San Francisco Reviews
Blazing 5*! ONLY GOOD ° 5 spice chicken was moist, flavorful, balanced. ° Shrimp Spring roll freshly made. Not stiff at all (like premade) - sauce is flavorful; although I do like it a little more peanut heavy. ° LOVE the window so you can see fresh, vibrant, and beautiful ingredients. ° Ladies making and taking the order seem very kind and nice. ° It's a short walk to have lunch while looking at the Bay Bridge. Highly recommend! It was a great experience overall.
Banh Mi King brought me back to the first Banh Mi I ever had…10 years ago in San Francisco at a place that’s no longer in business. This one was great with the crispy bread; it was very fresh.
This review is based on my one time eating Banh Mi here. I had the five spice chicken Banh Mi. The meat was delicious, cilantro was very fresh and the pickled carrots were perfect. The baguette was a miss, the cucumber was not fresh and limp. I’m coming back to try again and to give the rest of the menu a look. Still left with a happy tummy ☀️
First time I order from banh mi king and actually order a banh mi. I highly recommend, I ordered a banh mi, teriyaki tofu bowl and fresh rolls. All the items totally hit the sport. The tofu bowl was slightly crunchy with the crispy onions which matched perfectly with the softness of the tofu. Fresh rolls were delicious, good portion of shrimps with a tasty peanut sauce.
Pretty solid place for banh mi in FiDi. Got the 5 spice chicken and the meat is fattier. Sandwich was $10.16. Sauce adds more flavor and there’s a small kick to it. The pho smelled really good and would probably try that next. Viet coffee seemed a bit pricey—$5.75. Two spring rolls for $8.75
Food was great, very authentic flavors as a Vietnamese person who loves banh mi
Very good sandwiches. Ingredients fresh, bread is just perfectly toasted, and pork is tender, not gristly or too fat. Service is also pretty quick, took less than a minute to get my sandwich at noon on a Monday.
Quick, delicious, and fresh! Highly recommend the pork banh mi. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, which definitely shows the bread was made that day. There was so much meat in my banh mi too! It costs about $9.25 plus tax, definitely on the more expensive side but that’s Rincon Hill for you. Worth the price for the convenience and taste. The interior is also very clean and following local Covid-19 protocol. Will be back again!
solid lunch for the area. 18 bucks gets you a coke zero and duck banh mi. many Srirachas to choose from!
When I tried the food it made my taste buds explode in Vietnamese flavor

Great lunch spot! I had their banh mi and crab paste soup and both were really yummy. The service is fast, friendly, and pleasant!
I’m obsessed with their combination banh mi. And this is coming from someone that usually doesn’t like non-traditional banh mi. The meats are perfectly tender and seasoned perfectly. Love the pate. 10/10 sandwich and very reasonably priced.
Simple walk-in FiDi Vietnamese lunch spot with the best pho, banh mí, bowls, rolls and salads. Love having this place 1 block from work, Ferry Building, and South Park. Fyi table seating can be a bit hit or miss.

It was a good banh mi but the bread could have been a little softer. This is probably because I got mine at the end of the day. The portion was good. I got it to go. Would I go back? No. Tell you why. Chicken banh mi was $11.75 but came out to be $14.23! This didn’t include a tip. That’s nut. I understand sales tax and maybe even the 4% health mandate surcharge but that should have been $1.50 extra tops but almost a dollar on top of that? Go to Freshroll Vietnamese or Viet Duong on Bush St. Freshroll charges $9.75 for their banh mi and it’s about the same size and quality as Banh Mi King. I had always wanted to try Banh Mi King but the pricing was silly.
A good take on a Banh Mi…but when did Banh Mi come with jalapeños (Spanish chilli/capsicum)? We had the pork and 5 spice chicken Banh Mi with an iced Vietnamese coffee. The pork Banh Mi was good, the 5 spiced chicken Banh Mi lacked the 5 spiced flavor’s. The Vietnamese iced coffee was 5/5. I would have given a 5 if they had the proper chillies, a proper 5 spiced chicken and the fact that we had to clear & clean our own table. I do highly recommended…..better food than Chinatown and probably the best Banh Mi you will find in San Fran.
Had the five spice chicken bowl as well as the traditional Banh mi. The chicken bowl was perfectly fine. The chicken was cooked and tasty and all the other ingredients were good. Usually when I have this dish, once you add the fish sauce and mix everything it creates a spectacular mix of flavors. Weirdly that didn’t happen today. Not to say that it was bad per se but it was just okay. The traditional banh mi was FIRE. Reallllly good. The cold cuts and pate were on point. SOLID banh mi. Would come here all the time but the price of one banh mi here is closer to what 2 would cost out in the suburbs. Guess that’s the cost of operating in the city in a prime location. Still worth it though in my opinion. Check out this spot if you’re looking for a good banh mi!
Fresh rolls are really good! The employees are super friendly. Meat in the banh me had too many fatty pieces for my taste.

While the food was fresh, the sandwiches and spring rolls are made right in front of you, and the Vietnamese coffee was delicious, the price was very expensive ($11.25) for a standard banh mi sandwich with no sides. Three drinks, a few sandwiches and rolls to go cost us close to $100. Beware of the peanut sauce served with the spring rolls, it is served extremely thin and watered down like brown water and therefore lacks taste. Are they trying to cut costs by watering down their sauces? Even the fish sauce was watery. The lady taking our order didn’t speak a word of English so we were using Google translate to communicate and clarify our order. Finally someone else came to help. Next time we’ll stick with og places like Saigon Sandwich on Larkin.

Serving banh mi with unseasoned uncooked tofu should be illegal. It looks like they only microwaved the tofu as it was warm, I really didn’t enjoy it. :-(
I've been coming here for years and the staff is super nice, but the food quality has been slipping. Today my usual pork banh mi only had a small piece of meat, and along with a small ice coffee, my bill was nearly $20 including tip. I realize everyone is struggling with inflation and supply chain issues, but there are better banh mi places nearby.
