San Jose Classic!! Can't go wrong with bag of cheeseburgers and bag of tacos!!! They do offer order ahead that helps because it does get busy there on the weekends and evenings. The foods always fresh and made to order. Never disappointed when we come here. Takes me back to being a kid and my parents picking up bags of cheeseburgers, tacos and an or order of family fries! The strawberry shakes here are so good too! Always a special sweet treat when we come. Keeping the traditions alive with my kids.

This place has been around for decades. My parents were teenagers eating here. They would bring home a few bag full of burgers for my and my bros. Great place to munch down on.

Colossal burger is bomb, and had a great bun; the lettuce, tomato, pickle and onions were all super crispy and fresh...and also loved the fries. The price is totally reasonable and I will be back! Highly recommend when you are in a hurry and want fresh ingredients. Thanks Burger Bar!

I Love this place, my mom use to take us here to eat When I was a little girl. I believe she would pay 2.00 n change for a bag of burgers. Such good memories I have Of this burger bar. I love the root beer floats so much I crave one every now n than. Prices have sky rockette. Does not stop me from eating there foods awesome.

One of the best places to get food around the south bay. I always get a steak sandwich and I'm never dissatisfied. The fry portions are crazy big and worth the price. Parking can get a bit bad sometimes, but other than that this is one of the better places in San Jose.

Been coming here for years. After moving to Sacramento, I make this one of food stops during my visit. I always enjoy having the burgers, the relish and mayo are perfect together. I also get the family fries( extra extra large) lol. Hasn't change a bit since I've been going there. Except the exterior.

Love it! My grandfather ate here as a teenager, and so did my father. Almost like tradition so did I on those weekends we craved some comfort food. For that greasy burger with the extra greasy fries sold by the bag- this place is for you. Best deal is to buy a bag of 5. Also, the fries are ALWAYS that greasy. It's the best. I would recommend taking food to go. Very little seating and if it's at night, the temperature drops quick. Also, if you want the fried chicken- it takes about 15 to 20 minutes. It's good but it takes time to cook.

My husband has been coming here since he was a kid. When we moved back to this area, it is one of the first burger places he brought me to. The burgers are delicious! I also love the 1/2 chicken dinner. It takes 20 mins but is worth the wait. Bring a big appetite!

Been going there since Sam and his wife ran the one on Jackson and Alum Rock. Loved the steak sandwiches since I was a kid and they haven't changed in.all these years. I remember when they were $1.49 compared to the $4 that they cost now...well worth the money, but damn I feel old now. Lol! Anyways, if you want a good steak sandwich at a reasonable price, go check them out and tell them Sam sent you! ;-)

This place has been around since before I was born. My big brother used to take us for a bag of burgers when we were little. Five regular hambers with just relish and mayo for $2.99. Although the price has changed, the burgers are just as I remembered.

Been going to that place for years love the burgers I gave it a five-star only because it's a memorable place that I went to when I was younger but the sign on the outside says 9.99 for five burgers and I didn't notice it until after I took the picture and their menu I paid 1099 with no cheese and for future customers please put a little bit more red relish in mayo on your burgers we had to ask for extra other than that I love bag burgers❤️

Ok, not to sound melodramatic, but... So, like, that's an awesome cheeseburger. It invokes the memory of a McD's cheeseburger from your youth....like the first one you ever had. When you go eat one now at McD's, you're disappointed, and you're like, "That's not what I remember..." THIS cheeseburger is what you REMEMBER, back before burgers were ever ultra processed. Fries are better than In-N-Out, hands down. Is it "the best burger?" No. But if you're looking for nostalgia in the best sense of that word, this is it. It's pretty dang awesome. If you're anywhere near here, stop by and grab some food.

We stopped here on a recent trip to San Jose. We always love to hit up local small businesses whenever we can. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Food was hot and cooked to order. Everyone was happy. The impromptu churros were the best part. We only saw outdoor seating which was a little on the chilly side in November, but it worked for us.

Funky retro place. Aluminum umbrellas, cute metal tables, inexpensive food. Standard fare hamburgers, fries, milkshakes. LOTS of parking. Crispy onion rings.

Burger bar is my latest obsession. Bacon cheeseburger and a side of onion rings is my go-to order. The fried chicken is absolutely delicious, but you have to be patient because it takes about 15-20 to make. Definitely worth the wait. Fries are always limp, I like my fries crispy. Never really thought about asking for extra crispy until this moment, but will try next time for sure.

I ordered the colossal burger with bacon, jalapeno, mayonnaise, mustard, and all the fixings. It was an old-fashioned, delicious burger. A massive portion of fries came with the meal. If I had to say anything negative, it would be nice if the onion rings were hand-battered on location instead of coming from a bag. That's just a personal thing; freshly hand-battered onion rings are amazing, especially if they're not overly sweet, so I didn't try them here.

10/10. This is such a cute place. I love the outdoor walk up windows. We actually got quite a bit of food and ate all of it! I would for sure come back here. The day we came it really rained so we were able to get a good rainbow pic!!!

I've coming here over 30 years. I used to live le than a block away, but now that I live over 70 miles away it's definitely a go to whenever I'm in San Jose. Classic dive restaurant that never disappoints!

I stop by the spot regardless if I’m hungry or not I love there homestyle big bacon cheeseburger definitely a must try. I’ve recently started opting out of the combo meal and getting a side of chili and cheese fries with the burger. Area is not the best but they keep it well maintained and the outside seating area is kept clean. Not to mention that the filled and original churros are to die for 🤤.

It is clear that the fries are made fresh with the potato bags visible from the front. The employees are polite and attentive and the prices are great and the food tastes pretty good to me! There are tables with awnings present too for convenience which is nice, I definitely recommend stopping by

Pretty darn good value these days. Got the standard marquee burger bag, 5 hamburgers for $10.93 after tax. They're pretty plain, but have mayo and relish in them. Kind of tastes like a hot dog, but with a patty. They're about 4" in size and the bun is toasted. No frills as the other reviews say, and a great place. They're also definitely fresh as I saw them toss the patties down after I ordered.

This place has been around since i was a kid. On Fridays my family would stop here before going to the drive ins . Pick up a bag of juicy burgers for cheap. And very delicious. I like the steak burgers the best with the family fries. Mom. Service is great the people there are very nice and always get my order rite.

Hidden gem! Better than a lot of the fancy burger places we visited in the area. The thin cut, skin-on, soggy/soft fries are addicting and some of the best I’ve ever had. The burgers are no-frills and decent (I get it without the mayo) and the sweet relish on it reminds me of childhood. Will 100% be back. 100% will be back.

The classic Burger Bar. There's not too many other places that put relish on their burgers and let me tell you it is a delicious difference. The fries are also some of the best I've ever had. I love the outdoor seating... Most of the year. The rest of the year they have a big parking lot for you to sit and enjoy your food in the warmth of your car. This is a must for any and all in San Jose.

Good food, had a cheeseburger, it was good. Reminded me of a home style type of cheeseburger that I would cook at home. Wasn't a fan of the skinny fries. They were a bit on the oily side and limp personally I like them crunchy. Also had a plain churro. They sell a good variety of other food aswell.

Since we've moved I've missed eating there. But so far when we're in town and I'm wanting the Fried Chicken dinner- they're out of chicken?! This has happened 4 times under this new ownership. Never has it happened in The 50 years under the previous owner.

I mean my dad told me before I went that I'd get what I pay for. And honestly he was right. I give this place 4 stars because it was as I expected. You get 5 plain burgers with mayo and relish for $9. (Mcdouble sized) You really can't beat that price when eating out. That being said I wouldn't go out of my way to save a buck. Well worth it and the fries were so delicious. Even tried the steak sandwhich and that was great. But I'd really only go there if I was in the area. Great experience overall and I recommend if your in the area.

As of July 2023, the giant sign says "5 BURGERS FOR $10" - which is true! The size of those burgers are equal to the value menu at fast food burger chains, so a good deal. They also have ¼ and ½ pound burgers, if you're looking for something more substantial. The fries are incredible, shoestring with the perfect amount of crisp and mush to them, well-salted and lightly peppered. Real crushed pineapple in the milkshake. No indoor seating, patio only, but one side is usually in shade at a given point in the day. Entrance is from Story Rd only, no 1st St access to/from parking lot.

I'm probably hyping the food up but if you don't mind probably the greasiest fries you ever ate then don't be afraid to try it out. You can get it without any salt. The service is ok. Sometimes it's young folks but for the most part they are pretty chill. The atmosphere is iconic. Mostly cause people like myself have been going there since I was a kid. One of those generational places your family has gone to for many years. We've already lost several iconic restaurants in San Jose. The burgers are ok very limited on toppings. I recommend you guys to at least try it once and if you'd enjoy your meal then please keep coming back for more.

Decent place to eat, the chicken sandwich tasted very fishy, so that is why 4 of 5 stars. The jalapeno poppers were tasty, but be very careful they come piping-hot and you will most likely burn your mouth if you eat them right away. Please note that this is not a lunch spot, it does take a while to make the food because it's made fresh. That's a good thing, but when you're on a time restraint not the best. I would try this location again, hopefully the chicken has a better taste next time.

When I need a blast from the past, this is the place to go. Growing up we use to call this place "Bad o' Burgers" because for a small price you can get a bag filled with burgers. I was presently surprised that they still have that special. It's now 5 burgers for $9.99. Hahaha, I can remember when the price per bag of burgers was under $4.00. 😁

This place is interesting, it’s a really good value but you have to like relish on your burgers. The chili cheese fries were a bit underwhelming but at the price point it hit the mark. Good spot for cheap classic staples.

Cheap late night burgers that drunk college students love. Definitely the place to go after having a drink or two. Super cheap yummy burgers for a good price that you can split amongst your friends. Don’t be surprised if some random comes and talks to you while you wait for your food. Definitely a great local spot.

It is an old school burger joint I discovered in San Jose on my way somewhere else. Their prices, considering they're in San Jose, is relatively on the low end. They have all kinds of burgers, as well as chicken sandwiches, chicken piece meals, and other goodies.

U can get a bag of either 5 cheeseburgers or 5 regular & fries & a soda & finish off with an apple turnover 4 less than 20$ ,their toasted cheese isn't 2 bad either

The Burger Bar/Burger Corner is a one-of-a-kind place for excellent old fashioned hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and other goodies. The hamburgers and cheeseburgers have sweet relish and mayonnaise so that might be an odd combination for some. Purchasing a bag of burgers is relatively inexpensive (as of writing $9.99 for five burgers or $12.99 for five cheeseburgers) although other additions add up a bit more. A few small complaints: Similar to La Vic's (owned by the same family) drink refills are $0.60, which is a bit uncommon nowadays. There are no public restrooms, which is unfortunate. Additionally, (similar to La Vic's) the customer service is reasonable, and one gentleman working there is very friendly but some of the other cashiers could probably be a bit more friendly and courteous. The customer service is by no means hostile or horrible, but friendlier customer service is always appreciated and noticed. The intersection of 1st & Keyes is quite busy, so the atmosphere is a bit loud and bustling with many cars blasting by. This section of San Jose is somewhat gritty, so I'd be cautious about your surroundings, especially if you are there at night. The Burger Bar is by no means responsible for any of these matters, but I think it is worth mentioning. Overall, I would highly recommend the Burger Bar for their classic burgers, milkshakes, and other treats. There are improvements the business could make, but I think the food itself is worth the trip. They started in 1953, and I hope they'll continue on a whole lot longer, especially since the Burger Pit is gone now... Here's to the Burger Bar!

I went for the 5 cheeses burger deal to try them, and decided to get the chillie cheese fries too. The burgers were pretty tasty. They were obviously small, but they tasted like good meat and tasted way better than meat from Mcdonalds or something. Tasted way healthier too. I would give them a 5 for the food but I did not like the chillie cheese fries very much. They were too greasy and the chillie cheese needed more chillie, it seemed more like beans and cheese over greasy fries. I'd come back just for the burger deal though and I'd like to try some of the other sandwiches.

It was good cheap food, I ordered a bag of burgers (five in a bag) for $12. Overall they were better quality than mcdonalds burgers, but did not taste that much better. The milkshake on the other hand was very good and I would totally get that if I go there again. There is some outaide seating, but its a little worn down and old. I would not recommend this place for anything other than their milkshakes.

Have always liked Burger Bar since the 60's. Even under current ownership food still good. However, now had to wait 25 min. for more window order cuz they now give priority to Doordadh, Grub hub, etc. Lousy they don't take care of window orders immediately like they used to. Won't patronize again. Food was cold after getting it!!!

The burgers are okay and not what I expected. The place gives you an old school vibe, which caught my attention. The service was decent, but they didn’t give me napkins. The burger was nothing special, but I liked the fries. I don’t recommend, but it’s better than the corporate fast food chains.

Very tasty, with a taste that reminds me of childhood baseball games. However, the food isn't just a grease bomb, it's a grease power bomb off the top rope.

In A Nutshell: -Burger Bar has been around since 1953. -So after all these years of driving by it whenever I'm on Keyes and 1st St, my buddy and I decided to give it a try. -I remember when the sign used to used say, "5 Burgers for $4.99", obviously it's 2018 and we live in the most expensive county in America and inflation has kicked up the price to $7.99 for 5 burgers. -The burgers were actually a normal size patty, which is a plus. -The negative is all the butter on the buns. -As a matter of fact, we tossed out all the buns and created our own 5 patty burger. -On top of that, the onion rings are LEGIT. -They are the old school big, puffy onion rings, which we added on the super burger we just created. Overall, when you do what we did, the burger is very good. I'm sure once those brand new apartment/condos are finished building right across the street busy may spike back up a bit.

I came on a Friday for lunch, nobody was in line and the Burger was dry. Veggies were crisp and the onion rings were just cooked, but why was the patty completely dry? I've driven past this place for the past 8 years and decided to give it a try. I guess now i know why i had always just driven past. $16 for a dry half pound cheeseburger with onion rings. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Got overcharged. Ordered cheeseburgers and never got cheese. Burgers absolutely lathered in mayo. Super dry, cafeteria like meat. Fries were a heaping oily mess which I struggle to even call "fries". I was expecting more based on reviews. Likely will not go back.

Never had this place and was excited to try it for the first time being born and raised in San Jose . I heard the burgers was good, but I didn’t get that. I got a burrito and was given a Dollar tree burrito that was put in an air fryer so it was hard as rock. 5$ for it btw. Milkshake was all right a little bitter, like milk is about to get bad, but not there yet. On top of everything the girl who took my order was wearing a mask and speaking extremely low. I don’t even know if she was responding back. She didn’t say a single thing whole time ordering or picking up my food. I even said thank you, and she didn’t say anything. I don’t know if she was mad mood but that’s how you don’t get tipped girly

The only good thing me and my family were able to have from this place on the corner were the strawberry and vanilla milk shakes. The family bag of fries were completely soggy and greasy. The burgers were ok, buns seemed a bit stale. Being born n raised in San Jose, I don't think I'll be back for food.

I so disappointed its the worst fried chicken I've ever purchase since being here ,its oily and taste less has no seasoning whatsoever and they fried the chicken in some sort of egg batter which they didnt outlined and I'm highly allergic to eggs I spent over 25 bucks and can't eat it super disgusting 😫
