Asahi Syracuse Reviews
Loved it, good service and delish sushi! Hot Sakai!
Food was excellent, well presented and very fresh.
Very elegant atmosphere. Food was very good. Service very friendly.
Great little place. Food was decent.
Great kimchi jigae! And great prices!
Delicious food. Quiet atmosphere.
Great authentic food
Nice portions for the 💰
Absolutely delicious!
I love this place!
Delightful!!!
Delicious sushi
Was slightly concerned looking at the Google reviews after placing an UberEats pickup order. But the sushi tasted great (Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura).
This is my go-to place for sushi even though it is not the closest option for me. I have yet to find another place that is as good for such low prices. Their valentine roll is bangin & I always get an order of gyoza. Love, love, love.. and they are on ubereats! Love some good sushi delivery!
We arrived 5 minutes after they opened and the waiter was very attentive. The food was excellent and it was made quickly. My wife and I will be going back here. There are several items on the menu I would like to try.
Haven't been there in a while, but they have conveyer belt sushi and it is really good. I know that Monday is half price sushi and there is/was another day, but I forgot what day that was. Well worth a trip.
Quick, clean, and friendly. Not to mention taste way better than all other sushi places like Koto.
Half price sushi on Monday was so much less crowded than other places in the area and a great price to fill up on pretty good sushi
the best sushi in Syracuse ...and no one else is even close. You can tell from the scallop sashimi. thank you asahi!
On uber eats the run a buy one get 1 free special on a couple of their appetizers. Their spicy tuna roll, fried gyoza, edamame & chicken fried rice is a go to of mine almost weekly. You cannot dine in the restaurant
I saw several recent reviews that panned Asahi. But, our experience was very pleasant and the food was tastefully presented and was quite good--and, I've eaten sushi at many fine restaurants in NYC. So, I don't know what the problem was for the other patrons who found the food or service less than palatable. Perhaps they sampled sushi from the carousel and did not like that. We ordered through the chef. The restaurant is rather spacious, although it could accommodate more people if arranged differently. We found it comfortable for us on a hot, summer evening.

Ordered on uber eats since the gyoza was buy one get one free and the gyoza and the tofu are both honestly amazing. Totally worth it for the buy one get one. The ramen?? Don’t even get it. It’s okay, the broth is warm and tastes good, but it’s just like soggy noodles, super tough chuck roast chopped up, and broccoli. The tofu is great too, super lightly fried, and great sauces. The ramen is not good though

I love this family owned sushi house. Great food and customer service
Limited menu. Hopefully they have a good resurgence after the university is back in the fall.
Shrimp and spicy tuna sushi was amazing! California roll was average.
We went here because we went to a show at the Westcott. We we're disappointed to see a sign on the door stating they were no longer doing ahalf priced sushi (another main reason for going there). We stayed anyway and the food delicious, staff was very nice and somewhat attentive. We had to ask for more water and they never filled the cup all the way. It would be about 2/3rds full and only one time did we get ice so our water was cool, but not cold. We would probably go back if we we're in the area but it's kind of out of the way for us.
I wish I knew about this place sooner, especially when I was in grad school. It's very affordable and the sushi is good! I spent $11 and got miso soup, California roll and avocado roll (I know, very basic) but it was exactly what I needed and nearby!
The pricing was good , staff friendly , selection plentiful, would go back for the all you can eat again! ( When you go in to eat, you do have to mention the all you can eat option to receive the appropriate menus )
if you love sushi id say give it a try delivered or eating in i haven't been disappointed yet. try the chicken bento box if sushi isn't your thing or your on a budget. can take a little bit to find get checked out but service was very friendly
I'm constantly impressed with this place, a lot more scratch cooking in this place compared to places alike. Food is always fresh and flavorfull. Crab rangoons are the best in town!
I've ordered via DoorDash here three times now and have had good experiences. That said, the salmon don could have a greater fish:rice ratio. The sashimi deluxe had some variation in freshness, but good enough / decently good if you're not too picky. I've really enjoyed the spicy salmon rolls! Thank you. Overall pretty good and will probably get food from here again when convenient.

I was in the mood for sushi so this place came up on my list and gave them a shot. I wasn’t very crazy for it, probably one of the driest and flavorless sushi I’ve had. I didn’t even finish it as I felt I was getting sick from it. I also ordered teriyaki beef and chicken. The beef was super tough and the chicken was ok. Can’t say I would recommend this place but I know I would never go back.

We've been going to the Monday half-price night. My family and I like the conveyor belt and sit at the bar. When we first went, there seemed to be an endless selection coming round, but lately we have been struggling to find things to eat. Monotony. The service is alright, but it's difficult to get the check sometimes. It's a good place, but it could easily slip into being less. I hope they will strive for more.
The sushi was pretty mediocre. The wait time was very long. It was just us (2) in the restaurant and then GrubHub orders being made. It was $25 for my two rolls and then they added a service charge, and then with tip, I paid about $30 for two rolls. I don't think it was worth it.
Nope. Nada. This place used to be really good. Not sure what happened.
Staff wasn't friendly, slightly condescending. Food was mediocre at best.
Some if not all of their seafood was previously frozen which creates a very fishy flavor. Sushi was not worthwhile unfortunately
Went there twice, several months in between. On both occasions, the men's room was out of soap. How do I wash my hands? Or more importantly, how do the COOKS wash their hands? That several months had passed in between visits made me ponder whether washing hands is ever in their list of priorities.
I just went to the doctor after feeling nauseous and throwing up. They said I have food poisoning! This is the first time ever in my life I’ve had this issue. It’s ruined my day off. Don’t come here !
Don’t order on doordash. Just spent $45 and got 3 tiny rolls. Sushi was ok portions were tiny.
I ordered pickup, I got the Godzilla and another roll I forgot the name to. Anyways this was the first time I’ve tried this restaurant, I went In and there were 4 workers it looked like laughing and having a good time sitting down at a table. One came to me and gave me my order for $23. I asked for chopsticks and they said they were in there even after I looked In the bag for them. I got home and saw that they gave me literally 2 small ginger slices, no chopsticks and just a small trap of not appetizing sushi. I tasted both and the only thing you can taste is the sauce….. I won’t come back here again. 2 stars is even over rated. Good luck to this restaurant.

Ordered a bento box and 2 different rolls for take out. The beef in the bento box was incredibly hard to chew, the rice they used for the rolls felt stale and wasn't great at all. And on top of that the prices were pretty hight for the quality offered.
ordered via Uber Eats. Ordered a lunch special spicy tuna crunch, spicy salmon crunch and spicy yellow tail with a salad. All rolls were the same, no spicy mayo and the salad was frozen, partially thawed and frozen lettuce is not good. The roll tasted ok, salad but certainly not what I ordered and salad inedible, for how much I spent could have just done Wegmans.
Ordered from Uber eats last night, and tonight went to finish the leftover chicken udon (which was sealed and refrigerated overnight) and was horrified to find a living maggot in the soup. This is inexcusable, horrific, and more than enough to make me tell everyone I know writhing a 100 mile radius to never go to this place. The food tasted fine but I guess it was the seasoning of actual parasites. I'm shocked that I haven't gotten ill (yet). Sickened that they serve mostly students to students who might not be able to afford a hospital visit from food poisoning. This place should be shut down, as this isn't an honest mistake of one little insect jumping in during the delivery but rather at least one or more ingredient is rotting in the repulsive kitchen. Truly disturbing, and not worth it by any means. Would give 0 stars if I could
Stopped by and tried to eat here twice one weekend, but they only offered take-out. But Alto Cinco and Recess Coffee were open for business and we went there instead.

Not only is their food average, but they are unable to listen to a simple vegetarian order and unwilling to compensate me, so I’m now throwing money and meat in the trash.
The sushi was far from fresh and tasted disgusting. Stay far away.
I’ve never had katsu with bones in it I nearly chocked to death .
Being a negative attitude towards me. No delivery on time
Sushi were not fresh.
Very small portions
Overpriced. Food is just okay. Better when they first opened. Service is attentive but extremely slow, even when the place is almost empty. There is no reason to wait so long when you are the only one there. Delivery is a whole other sad story. It is usually an incredibly long wait, the portions are way smaller than when you eat in, and def not worth what you are spending. This is referring to multiple visits, not just one time. Have not been back.
Please don’t order from here the sushi was disgusting. The fish was bad and the rice hard as rocks. The dumplings came completely cold and covered in grease. I became extremely ill 4 hours after eating take out from here.
Bland and flavorless. I tried four rolls. I'd categorize the first three rolls as comparable to fast-food or grocery store sushi, and the fourth to something you'd find at the state fair. The ingredients weren't fresh, including the seafood. The salmon had little taste and a flaccid texture. I spent ~$60. Full disclosure: I ordered through GrubHub, and don't know if the experience would be any different in-person (though I doubt it).
ordered delivery - food arrived on time. WORST SUSHI I've ever eaten. Sushi was old and dry. THe rolls were mishapen. You get a thin sliver of eel rolls. Save your money or take it to sakana-ya or Oishi. Horrible
They get very angry at customers and have zero understanding of the fact their business is based off nature, yet continue to use tons of useless plastic. Its such a shame so many restaurants ignore the impacts of plastic pollution.
My food arrived spoiled, it was raw fish. I am very disappointed, it seems you only get good food if you pick up, but using third party they don't seem to care about their quality.
This restaurant has terrible awareness of customer satisfaction. They are also incredibly wasteful after I asked countless time with my order to have no soy sauce satchets and plastic cutlery that will just go straight to landfill. Very poor service
Only customers in here and the service is almost none existent. Took a half hour to be cashed out. Sushi was fine but anything you expect cooked was done in a microwave.
The food was not good and not fresh at all. Dried up sushi and condiments. When I called to let them know they didn't seem to care and didn't take care of their mistake. Will not order from them again.
It was just terrible. I had to throw it out. I’m upset I spent money on it. Spicy tuna was mostly soggy crunch, the yellowtail jalapeño was PICKLED jalapeño. No soy sauce, Kani salad was so small. It just tasted bad. I went there years ago and was very happy with it. Really unfortunate.
My food was delivered at 8:10pm and I already have diarrhea at 10:10. You’re welcome for the donation as I will never order from your restaurant again. Thank you for the upcoming night on the toilet!
This place would have had a better rating if their staff weren't so rude. They ignored us until we finally flagged someone down to order. They only do take out which is fine but their site says they close at 9pm. Some girls walked in at 8:20 and they said they were closed. They ignored us after we ordered, the girl working the sushi had great skills, but gave us rotten looks the whole time. Its just not enjoyable to get food in a place where it feels like you're a bother. Food was alright. Good enough. Not something to rave about.
I've ordered countless times from this place and 70% of the time their chicken is uncooked.. I stopped ordering from them for 6 months and one day had nothing to order. Thought I would give them a shot again and literally the next two orders were uncooked! You ask them to cook the chicken well done and their response is "it's always cooked well done" NO it's not. They are good when they actually cook it but I'm telling you they do not cook their chicken properly and take offense when you bring it up!
Served my husband spicy tuna roll that immediately made him vonit fish was bad
I've ordered food from here before and it was okay. I went in today to talk about something and order food. But the lady who said she was the owner was really rude and condescending as well as dismissive to my presence. In short I talked about what I had to say, then left to order food from Gangnam Style whose customer service and attitude is designed for hospitality. I wouldn't order food from a place who treats the people who walk through their doors with such disgust and disregard. If thats how they talk to people in front of them, imagine how they make people's food- most likely with the same lack of care and consideration. Will not order from here again.
Believe the reviews, my food was inedible. I ordered a shrimp teriyaki bento box. The shrimp were fried with little sauce, the vegetables were not cooked, it says it comes with a California roll which wasn’t there, and even the rice was bad. I wish I read the reviews before ordering. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
Ordered a bento box. The Gyoza had mold on it. The vegetables and salmon did not taste fresh and the sauce tasted weird. The worst bento box I have ordered in my life, threw everything out . Do not recommend.
I never leave reviews but the food at this restaurant made me violently ill 2 hours after I ate it. That is a remarkably short turnaround. It’s almost impressive. Don’t reccomend unless you need to lose a couple pounds on short notice.
Does not prepare delivery orders on-time for scheduled pickup by driver. Wastes your time without compensation. You can tell by the 2 large deep freezers in the restaurant they are making sushi with frozen fish instead of fresh, which means it's not sushi-grade. They have converted most of the restaurant into their living space. Real awkward.
