We stayed at Cioccolocanda during the Christmas holidays, taking advantage of the "Chocolate Contamination" package. It was a truly pleasant experience. The inn is a truly simple and dated place, but very welcoming. All the staff were kind, helpful, and welcoming. The museum tour was very enjoyable, accompanied by tastings of various chocolates and more. Mr. Bessone proved to be very knowledgeable, and the chocolate cake-making class was very interesting. The chef's willingness to lead the class, despite the minimum number of participants, was noteworthy. This kindness was truly appreciated. The dinner was truly hearty and tasty. The cocoa pairings of the various dishes were much appreciated. The Cioccobagno, an immersion in chocolate, was wonderful. A truly unforgettable 360° sensory experience! To conclude the stay, a generous sweet breakfast with various types of cakes and pastries. A true treat. An experience definitely worth repeating.
I think it would be a mistake to visit the town of Vicoforte in Piedmont and enjoy the local sights without having lunch with master chocolatier Silvio Bessone. Silvio Bessone is a pastry chef and chocolatier: he is more than just a master – he is a true explorer of the world of cocoa. The heart of his business is his chocolate factory, a place where magic is born: here is his chocolate museum and a small restaurant, where we were fortunate enough to enjoy his creations.
I visited the museum and had lunch at the restaurant. IT WAS UNFORGETTABLE. A wonderful lunch and a very interesting tour. I was the guide and will definitely return with other groups.
To celebrate my parents' 55th wedding anniversary, I wanted something worthy of their story. The Emotional Menu was exactly that: a complete experience, designed to amaze, engage, and leave a lasting impression. Every dish was a surprise: original yet harmonious pairings, a clever use of cocoa, and courses presented as a mini sensory journey. All in a refined, welcoming setting, where you could feel a true passion for cooking and the guest experience. After lunch, it was impossible not to stop by their pastry shop: cocoa pasta, Monregalesi pastries, artisanal chocolates... all irresistible, all to take home to prolong the magic. We left with full hearts and smiles in our eyes. A place worth experiencing, even just to remember that food can truly move us.
We visited this place with a coupon they gave us that included a visit to the museum, a tasting, and a lunch featuring cocoa. Everything was excellent, excellent quality. The staff were friendly and professional. Perfect service. We'll definitely be back.
We had lunch at this place (so no overnight stay) and really appreciated the owners' passion for processing cocoa (which they personally select in the producing countries, incredible!), which has also led to the creation of a small museum, and their commitment to the quality of their products. We were very satisfied with the visit, the explanations about the cocoa plants, the harvesting, and the subsequent processing of their fruit. I think this experience, combined with the excellent lunch, is recommended for everyone and allows us to learn useful information about an area we perhaps know too little about. Moreover, it's just 100 meters from the beautiful Sanctuary of Vicoforte! Two more than valid reasons to perhaps travel a few more kilometers... I can't comment on the cost because the voucher for the museum visit + lunch was a gift (much appreciated).
A wonderful experience, highly recommended. 1. Chocolate bath (wooden tub and edible chocolate) 2. Visit to the chocolate museum with tasting and cultural enrichment through an incisive presentation that introduces you to the world of chocolate. 3. A short course to learn the secrets of making an excellent chocolate cake with a soft center. 4. Dinner with a very interesting menu centered around chocolate, including various wines paired with each course. 5. Go shopping. There are tons of chocolate treats, all strictly homemade, such as chocolate tagliolini, chocolate beer, chocolate-roasted beans, chocolate from all over the world, bonbons, etc.
This is our second time here, this time with our children. It was a wonderful experience, just as I remembered. We hadn't had the chance to see the museum before, but it was really interesting to see the entire chocolate-making process. The food is good, varied, and in just the right quantities. I hope to return soon, because you never get tired of chocolate.
I visited with a group. After a hearty breakfast, they showed us, using a video, how the Bessone family, especially Mr. Silvio, sourced the world's finest cocoa for their lab. We tasted several varieties of chocolate. What I didn't know was the existence of cocoa beer, which I purchased. At lunch, we ate wonderfully, traditional dishes expertly blended with fine cocoa. Just steps from the basilica. I highly recommend it!
Wonderful experience! I had the pleasure of trying the cocoa-infused lunch with a visit to the chocolate museum. I must say, everything was perfect, even better than expected. The kindness and professionalism were evident from the first emails we exchanged; I was completely thrilled! The visit to the chocolate museum, which included a tasting, was very interesting and enjoyable. The lunch was so exceptional that I highly recommend it; the description couldn't quite describe it. A truly sensory experience worth repeating!
I'm so excited to share my review of Cioccolocanda (Via Francesco Gallo, 19, 12080 Vicoforte, CN)! I had the opportunity to try their "Cacao Contaminations" lunch menu and was completely captivated by the experience. The high-quality cocoa was the undisputed star of every dish. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and aroma that made me feel like I was savoring a piece of paradise. The variety of dishes presented was simply astonishing, and their abundance left me satisfied beyond my wildest dreams. What made this experience even more special were the people! The welcoming and highly knowledgeable staff gave us an initial explanation of the chocolate making process, from cultivation to drying. It was a fascinating journey through the history and passion behind this wonderful ingredient. It's clear that the Cioccolocanda team has deep knowledge and a genuine dedication to the world of chocolate. In short, lunch at Cioccolocanda was an exceptional culinary experience that exceeded my every expectation. I highly recommend all chocolate and food lovers to visit Cioccolocanda and enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience.
My experience at Bessone's? I found courtesy, patience, and great satisfaction with our requests, the magnificent attention to detail in the plating, the tactile sensations of the palate, a harmonious and refined flavor, all surrounded by the fusion of cocoa butter and the very same toasted cocoa beans in the bread, the salami, and, of course, not just a fusion but a good illness, of chocolate that even coats the beer they serve in the place with joy. It's obvious that, given all the one-star reviews, if you're not prepared to welcome guests with sensitivity, it's best to go buy chocolate at the supermarket and make your own hot chocolate at home with a stale sachet from the pantry. A must-see on any trip.
Dreamy short stay. A little gem in Piedmont. The atmosphere is very welcoming, especially due to the love and passion the owners put into their work. We stayed for one night with a Smartbox gift and were treated just like any other guest. The museum tour was lovely, giving you a better understanding of all the work and dedication that goes into the establishment. We also tried the chocolate bath, and it was a real surprise to find real, pure chocolate instead of "chocolate mixed with water." The attention to detail was also excellent, with guests receiving a very helpful experience kit. The price was well-founded and the experience was unforgettable. The chocolate massage was also performed with extreme professionalism, with the masseuse paying close attention to each guest's needs. It leaves an indescribable scent on the skin. The cuisine was excellent, impeccable quality. It's a shame the establishment is a bit "dated," which doesn't do justice to the work, the quality of the services, and the professionalism. The atmosphere, however, is very welcoming and leaves a feeling of home. We will definitely return in the future to see the improvements! In the meantime, I'll continue to order products from their website because they're truly spectacular, especially the cocoa herbal tea! One word: WOW, an unforgettable weekend.

Personale molto gentile. Cibo buonissimo. Camere accoglienti. Colazione molto particolare e invitante.
Consigliato!
My friend (a pastry chef) was thrilled to see the place and wanted to come in. I'm sorry, but I was quite disappointed. The pralines didn't taste like the filling advertised, and the chocolate almost tasted stale. I would have preferred them to be served on a tray with tongs rather than by hand.
I stayed here with my boyfriend for his birthday present! If I had to give an overall rating, I'd give the experience a 6! Some things would have been better, like the excellent food quality and the very nice bathtub. But for other things, unfortunately, I have to say terrible! The bedrooms were this old, not even in the Paleolithic era, the miniature television didn't even work, the bathroom left much to be desired, the only thing was that the room was warm, thankfully! In summary, for the price this experience costs, I would have expected much more. They simply tell you they serve chocolate fondue in your room, but there was none, or that they made a cake, but it was made in 5 minutes by Bessone! Too bad, I had high expectations.
To review this place, we must first discuss the chocolate and where it comes from. This aspect is well illustrated with documentaries and tastings of cocoa beans and the various stages of processing until they become chocolate. The dinner offered is the same for everyone, with no choice because it's part of the chocolate experience. Overall, it was pleasant, although the wait between sitting down and enjoying the three courses exceeded two hours, but the staff was very kind and helpful. We then moved on to the inn. We were assigned a freezing, small room with a leaky toilet, a clogged sink, and a shower drain in the floor. At least a mat to dry our feet outside the shower was needed. The room doors were shaped like chocolate bars, as was the headboard. It could have been better.
The food below avarige, service so so and the location 👎 not looking after from long time.
An experience to forget... Check-in directly at the pastry shop 🤦🏼 As for the rooms, everything is shocking (I can be so presumptuous as to write this because I'm an interior designer). Upon arrival, it was freezing. Reason... why hadn't the boiler clock gone off?!? Too bad it was 3:00 pm!!! 🤦🏼 Chocolate cake lesson (not good, because it's made with olive oil, and I think we all know that lighter oils should be used in desserts)... a mind-blowing bore, peppered with endless self-praise (20 degrees, 15,000 trips around the world, books written at night), I thought I was Leonardo da Vinci reincarnated! 😂 Let's forget about the chocolate museum... Lunch and dinner were nothing special, culinary dishes that can also be made at home, for someone familiar with the kitchen. When I'm looking for a holiday location, I never aim for chic and refined locations, but I believe there is one rule... cleanliness, as a form of respect for one's customers!
