Clean and pleasant atmosphere. Delicious homemade food. I had the brisket gyro and loved it. I ordered the "fire in the mill" ale which has pomegranate and habanero with my meal and it was a real treat! I'll definitely be back. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable of both the food and drink as well as a history of the location and Mill River.
Consistently superb beers (house crafted) and smoked meat entrees. Great little spot to eat in or on the back porch. Take out is available. Brisket is usually our go to here. Specials are often amazing as well. Desserts are always of some maple variety. My favorite is the maple pecan praline pie, the best. It's small but always friendly here. I would say do not pass it by if in the area.
Great food. Very nice wait staff however, needs to seriously improve on faster service. Other than that we will be returning. So...we went for our Daughters Birthday celebration and had a wonderful time! Can not say enough good things about this restaurant. Amazing staff! Accommodated the group! Thank you for a wonderful time! And Thank you for supporting Passion for Paws!.
Wow. If i could give it a 10, i would give it a 11. Met up with some coworkers today and everything was fantastic. The service is the best I've had in the two years i have lived in Franklin county. My coworker ordered a jalapeno marg and the Bartender (Rob) came over to help feel out how spicy she wanted, and did the same thing for the second one. The second my beer was 1/3 left our server would ask how i was feeling and if i wanted another one. The wings were out. of. this. world. the smoked sriacha honey was nuts. the glaze was perfect, not overly saucy and so crispy. Previously i would have placed The Drake as my top place to eat in St. A, and they are fantastic, but Mill River will hands down be my go-to place to eat-in.
Nice experience, great service. I got a salad and my spouse got brisket. We both enjoyed our meals and my spouse enjoyed their Fall-inspired beer as well.
AMAZING food and drink! I'm a southern guy who grew up in Georgia but have also lives in 16 other states. This is simply the best BBQ I have had....and that INCLUDES BBQ I've had in Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, and Georgia. Portions are large (so expect that you'll need a "to go" box. Service is excellent. I'll be back to the Mill River Smokehouse, and I'll be bringing my friends. Thank you for an amazing meal!
We decided to find a place to have takeout on our last night in St Albans, and found Mill River Brewing. We were greeted at our car by Derrick, who I assume is either the manager or owner. He offered us a seat on the outdoor patio, despite having a table available, so we could enjoy a beverage waiting for our takeout. The place was so amazing, and the live band was great, that one drink turned into a couple, and we even got beers to go! The Blackberry Rhubarb Wheat Ale was out of this world, and the food was incredible. THANK YOU for a great last minute and unexpected experience, we can’t wait to come back all the way from Massachusetts!
Loved this place! We sat the bar and had great food, great beer, and great service. It was the perfect cap to our Sunday!! Wish I could bottle this place up and take it home to TN with me!
My husband and I went here for the first time on Friday, 11/15/19. We cannot say enough good things about this place. The beers they had on tap were awesome! Their food was awesome as well. We sat at the bar and Kayla helped us the entire time we were there. She was so pleasant and just great company. We would highly recommend stopping here!!!
Went tonight for dinner, it was wonderful. We ordered several types of beer, all were very good. The food was excellent, highly recommend the brisket tacos, the ribs, and the brisket platter. Be sure to have the corn bread!
This is my 1st published review ever. This place is awesome as my 1st time visiting. I came in from out of town unknowing reservations were typically required but they found room for me anyway. The place was busy with constant flow of people being seated and leaving regularly. The service during the continually busy time was really good. The food was also great from the smoked wings, housemade blue cheese, to the pulled pork sandwich with house fries. House beers were really good - I have nothing negative to say about my experience here at all. The only thing I regret is neglecting to get the names of the people who made this a wonderful visit for me; the gentleman who found a table for me (and kept checking how I was doing throughout the night) to the hostess who seated me, to my wonderful server = EACH AND EVERYONE making my day from driving all the way from Buffalo NY on a business trip. I would come back here in again and again. Thank you!
There literally isn't a single bad thing on this menu! I visited with a large party, everyone ordered something different, and everything was fantastic! Truly fantastic BBQ that one wouldn't expect in Vermont, and great tap list, and excellent service. Plus a really lovely covered patio! The live music is a bit on the loud side; we didn't say anything but perhaps they can turn down the speakers a bit.
Great BBQ with very good craft beer options. My wife and I stopped by on our way back from Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge. I had the brisket. It was awesome. I also ordered a flight. My favorite was the Shandy which basically adds lemonade to "Hello My Name is Beer" lager. In addition to very good beer and food, the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely worth checking out when visiting St. Albans.
Really good beer. Great BBQ!
This place was such a perfect find! We arrived with a big party including kids and a dog, and even without any openings, instead of just saying no they went out of their way to accommodate us all - they moved a table outside so we could all sit together. And the service kept going! It was the best service any of us had experienced in a long time. The food was stellar, drinks were excellent, all the staff were so kind - it was just a perfect experience all around. Would recommend 10/10.
First time visiting here. Very impressed! Beers were very good and cover a good range for any person coming in the door (pilsners, wheat, one IPA, red ale, and a porter). The food, phenomenal!!! Started with the rib fries which was an odd sounding combination on paper but really tasty! The brisket Philly was delicious! Fries are really good as well. Staff was very friendly as well and had plenty of knowledge of everything on the menu. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to people looking for a good BBQ place and beers.
I LOVE this place - so glad they're in St. Albans. My favorite appetizer is the wings - so far I have tried chili (made with brisket - great) and a few wing flavors (Asian BBQ - yummy sweet sauce, and VT Buffalo (maybe mapley buffalo?). My favorite main dish is to get a sampler platter where you can get 3 meats and 2 sides - really generous portions and good for sharing. I am not a beer person so can't speak to that. Very friendly service. Definitely stop here if you're in the area.
The food was so delicious and fresh ! Unique combinations of flavors were excellent!
Their recipes and beers are creative and consistently delicious, and the restaurant is spotless. It's clear they take the time to perfect each product before unveiling it. When we order delivery, it arrives fast and hot. You can tell they really take pride in what they do! Always a good decision to eat here.
First time coming in and my husband and I were thrilled with our meal! Place was super clean and cute looking. The staff was super friendly and service was super quick, we got our meal in less than 10 minutes. We got the sampler platter for 2 and loved everything plus we had plenty left over for another meal for each of us. Super sad we had no idea what we were missing out on all this time
My aunt and uncle are getting married today. They had a rehearsal dinner last night too and my goodness. Staff was excellent, food was fantastic, mingling was easy. Definitely recommend if you want a place for the family or just some really good food. Definitely go here before you go to McDonald's. 😂😊
Great selection of local beer. Best smoked ribs EVER had in my life !! Staff very friendly. 10/10 -100 Definitely will be back when in the area.
I have to say upfront I hate smokey flavors with a passion but this place does an amazing job to make them taste great. The food was amazing. The PB and J wings were delicious. The flavours of a classic ob and j sandwich were present in a great way that complimented the chicken. The Rib fries were amazing esp with the cheese sauce. The beer!! It was flawless. Their Summer shandy has reached the top of my list. I've visited more than half of the breweries in the state and this is in my top three breweries.
Best wings I have ever had! We tried them with the VT buffalo sauce. Every single thing we had- brisket, ribs and pulled chicken was delicious! The loaded mashed potatoes - perfection! Fresh brewed beer! 30 mins from home in Colchester, VT and well worth the trip. Will with out a doubt be back! Thank you for a great meal and great service!
This was a nice experience. We were seated inside although they offer outdoor seating as well. The atmosphere was nice. The wait staff were very pleasant. It wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other. And they have a nice selection of beer, wine and mixed drinks. It's important to plan ahead because it's a popular place and a reservation could help you get in.
Super fun spot with great service. Food is very good. The loaded mashed potatoes are the best I've ever had. So many local options offered and definitely a place that puts Vermont pride into action.
Great place. The beer is okay. We had their double IPA and The MRB session ale. The beer is on the lighter and crisp side. The Brisket Philly with their beer cheddar cheese sauce was delicious. Loaded mashed potatoes were great too. My wife had BBQ tacos (2 x chicken and 1 x sweet potato) and she really liked those. We were there on a Saturday night. There was live music and the service was very good. We will go back.
Their Porter beers are excellent. Authentic BBQ, great portions... We left stuffed and happy.
I order takeout more than dining in. The food is always excellent
I grew up visiting Saint Albans as a kid but haven’t been back for about 10 years so I was surprised to see a new spot in town. We showed up after a family reunion with about 12 people (others kept joining) and the staff were kind enough to set up tables for us to sit together outside. Food was great and the drinks were awesome but what really put it over the top was the extremely gracious service! So accommodating and kind. Hope I don’t go so long between visits so I can come back again soon!
Beer options very nice! Light your fire had a very unique smoked finish. Food.. Great portions, great flavor! Leaving with plenty of leftovers. Atmosphere, clean smaller space. Bathrooms were very clean. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Would dine again!
Wow, just wow. The beer rivals our favorites in burlington area. And the BBQ - just awesome. We've lived across the country including Texas and Colorado with great bbq, but wow, this place. The brisket was to die for (get the marbled, it is melt in your mouth flavor) and the burnt ends were something special. Everything homemade - from the corn muffins to the sauces to the chili to the creamed corn which had onions, seasoning and peppers, just all unexpectedly delicious. And the owners are lovely. Worth the visit (and the leftovers 100%).
Cozy place, bartender was amazing! The food was all good. It's a bit to get to, but absolutely worth the trip! Not that you need one, but you'll find reasons to drive to St. Albans...just so you can say, "well, since we're in the area..."
Best food by far. The staff is the best, friendly and knowledgeable. And the deserts are fantastic. Something different and delicious. Not too sweet and the portions amazing. Can say enough about the deserts . They always think of something different for the specials because maybe some people don’t like brisket. If you haven’t been there, may a trip, you won’t be disappointed.
My son brought me to lunch for Mother’s Day and what a great experience we had, due to the wonderful server we had. Kayla! She was so knowledgeable and attentive. She checked on us frequently. The food was perfection. The person in charge of the grill knows their business. It was delicious and can’t wait to go back! Kudos to all of you!
Great BBQ, friendly staff and delicious beer! I grew up in the south and have high standards for what BBQ should be. When I moved to Vermont I wasn't so sure I would find anything that came close to what I enjoyed and I was so wrong! Miller River Brewing BBQ had so much flavor and was so tender! We had the rib fries and Brisket Philly and they were incredible. You won't regret stopping here!
Fantastic Food and Drinks/Beer and all the staff was wonderful especially our server Taylor! The smoked wings are just amazing. My wife and I shared one of the sampler platters with the chicken, the brisket and the burnt ends. For sides we had the corn muffins, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, loaded mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Everything we eat was excellent the platter was huge, we took him half of our meal. Again thanks to Taylor for doing a excellent job!
A friend of ours pointed us to this place during our visit to Vermont. If your in the area its a must stop.. you will not be disappointed. The Staff, Owners and Atmospher are fantastic. Indoor and Outdoor seating, and the BBQ.... Wow, the Brisket, pulled pork, and Burnt ends are cooked to perfection. I also Suggest the Spinach Artichoke Fritters... Quite Fankly everything was great. The Drink Selection is also fantastic with the local brews... You cant go wrong here.. We will be back!
Service was super friendly and knowledgeable. All of the different beers we had were great, but we especially loved the jalapeno-lime lager. Food was excellent, Rib Fries and Brisket were out favorites! Super clean restaurant, strictly adhered to covid guidelines which was much appreciated. Also the bathrooms are beautiful. Can't wait to come back and enjoy the outdoor seating!
Our experience was nothing short of memorable! Making a reservation was simple and easy, they were able to answer my questions and provided clear expectations regarding Covid safety protocol. The in person greeting (parked in our vehicle), and host assisted guidance to our table was awesome. Our waitress Lauren was friendly, knowledgeable and provided us with great customer service!! The outdoor seating was comfortable with great ambiance with adequate protection from the elements. As a rain storm passed through it was easy enough to move our tables still within social distancing to stay dry and enjoy out meal. The staff brought out heating and even asked if it was ok to light them! The food, beer and service was phenomenal, we will be back soon for sure!!
Wow. I've been here twice now, and nothing that we have ordered has been less than outstanding. They have a nice variety of beers, their Crawl It Off IPA is very good, and I also really enjoyed the Demon Hop Cutter. The BBQ is off the wall. Places back home wish they were half as good as Mill River. Burnt ends are to die for, smoky and caramelized without being cloyingly sweet. Pulled pork is super tender and juicy without a dry bit to be found. The sides are also extremely impressive. The baked beans are smoky and savory without being syrupy, and the Cajun corn is just fantastic. You have to try the maple corn muffins, so good. I can't recommend this place enough. Thought the first experience may have been a fluke, but they knocked it out of the park again. Eat here.
This is a nice place to gather for the beer enthusiast. You can have a nice cold beer as well as some tasty food. Just come hungry because the portion sizes are filling. I got the brisket taco and pulled pork taco. They have a nice taste to them. If the lobster bisque is available I recommend it. We also had the apple dumpling maple cake with maple bacon ice cream. It was warm and velvetly taste. I would definitely save room for this dessert.
Very pleasant place to visit. We went near closing, so some of the food was sold out, but the food was great. The staff was amazing with my son, they had a dance competition with him to make him feel welcomed. He has a lot of energy and they handled his energy with grace. Very pleased with every aspect of this establishment. Some times kids are energetic and I wish every place held a standard to understand that 👏
Food was absolutely wonderful. I got the brisket tacos and highly recommend them. My companion got the brisket plate and ate every last bite. The atmosphere is down to earth and so friendly. We were there for lunch and enjoyed the outdoor seating! The waitress was super sweet and attentive. Go enjoy the food and atmosphere. Bring friends and have a great time out!
This place can sometimes get really busy so plan for a little wait at times. The food was absolutely fantastic and they accommodated my gluten free and dairy free needs. On the night we arrived there was a singer (the jukeboxjake) in the outdoor tent. We had a great time with friends at a great location.
We stopped into Mill River Brewing after a hike and were treated to excellent food and even better service. I had a brisket sandwich and fries and they were just what this weary hiker needed to refuel. The staff was very attentive and took great care of us. I'll be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by the BBQ here! I'm no snob or leading authority on BBQ, but you never know what to expect when you're way up in Vermont. I got the pulled pork platter with mac and cheese and a lite lunch beer. The pulled pork was juicy, fatty in the best way, and had plenty of bark to add flavor. The mac and cheese was exceptionally creamy and flavorful, and the lite lunch was a standard light beer but that's just what I was looking for. If I wasn't driving, I may have tried one of their more adventurous-sounding beers as well. The corn muffin the pork came with was ok, but I still appreciated them including it. The nachos we got were not that exciting, but I'm not going to be mad at a BBQ place for not serving amazing nachos. I'd try another appetizer instead. I'd definitely come back here if I'm ever in the area again!
We’ve ordered food here, today was our first time dining in. As always food was good. We had the smokehouse wings with VT buffalo sauce, taco tots and BLT wrap. All were good and the wings never disappoint. The only issue we had was that they were suppose to give us water but we never got it and slow on the soda drink refill. Just need those drinks if you’re eating something spicy. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Good atmosphere and the servers were nice and had a smile on.
Very nice. The service was perfect. Large selection of beers. There is the tap house with outdoor seating and the smoke house who also has outdoor seating. The food menu is different. We chose the Smoke house. We had pull pork tacos and the burnt ends platter. The food was very good. Suggest to make reservation, we had to sit at the bar it was the only option without reservation. At the Tap House you can get pizza.
‘Twas a stormy summer’s eve when stumble upon a succulent and saucy surprise in St. Albans, VT did I. As if these smoked wings were not sultry and seductive enough they are subsequently fried and sealed betwixt a bodacious batter. No longer the apocope of the bird, these wings earned their place in menu-Valhalla, upon the entree list. 9/10 Siracha hot honey 8/10 Buffalo 8/10 sage maple dry rub @millriverbrewing Btw Becky the bartender is great too.
Excellent service, delicious food, and a warm cheerful "Vermonty" atmosphere. Lots of beers on tap to taste and enjoy! We got the brisket and shepherds pie. The shepherds pie was a real winner and would highly recommend! Brisket was tender, flavorful, and delightfully smoky. Loved the mustard sauce it was served with! Thanks for a great experience! ♥️
We were a party of 10. Meals and cocktails. One of our party got a side with their meal that was heavily seasoned so he asked if he could substitute it with cole slaw. Manager wanted to charge for it! $300+ bill and couldn't accommodate us with a substituted side. A little disappointed with that. Server was fantastic the entire visit though, but clearly embarrassed by managers decision. Great food. Kudos to the kitchen!
We've been here 4-5 times. Tonight, we had the sampler plate for 2, which is a good deal. There is really enough food for 3, unless you're really hungry. We had the burnt ends, sausage, and ribs. The ribs are always my favorite of the meat we get. The rub is good. I dont think we've had dry or overly done ribs. The burnt ends are not my favorite. However, my wife really likes them. I prefer mine with no sauce, as usually burnt ends have a bunch of flavor from the rub on 3 sides. I think the sauce they use is too sweet and too much of it. The sausage was sausage. Nobody goes to a bbq joint just for their sausage. The sides maple glazed carrots, and loaded mashed potates were good sides for a bbq place. We didn't get the pulled pork or the brisket. Im not sure we have ever had the pulled pork, so there's no opinion there. We had the brisket before. The one thing I really dislike about it is how thick they slice it. Brisket should be sliced like 3/8" thick, not thick like pot roast. It also always needs to be sliced perpendicular to the grain. The people next to us ordered a sandwich, and it was still way too thick. I think the rub is okay. The brisket is a bit inconsistent, though as I've had some that was dry. Overall, it's a fairly solid place to eat if you want something a bit different.
The beer wasn't my style but I can't imagine anyone having difficulty finding something to enjoy with their offerings. This place is easy to find, clean and staff is welcoming. The food delicious! They have lots of specials throughout the week and prices are very reasonable. I got there on a day burnt ends were available and I was in heaven! The Cuban egg rolls are outstanding! I could have just eaten four orders of those alone!
Found this by way of Google on our drive of the Champlain Islands and detoured here for dinner. Worth it. Food was excellent. Their New England IPA was decent. Hubs ranked it a 3.4 out of 5 and he’s a certified beer judge. If you are a grumpy about 10 oz pour vs a 16 oz pint, you might want to order something other than a beer - they don’t serve full pints. That notwithstanding, Folks are super friendly and we enjoyed our dinner. Definitely recommend.
BBQ is not bad, I'm used to Texas bbq. The pizza next door was very good. A thick airy crust with very high quality mozzarella cheese and various toppings. Pizza was a great price. Would recommend a cost to try it and some of their beers.
The food was good. Not stellar. But good. Have been there in the past and have had some of their smoked meat, burnt ends and pulled pork. Those were great. Haven't had any of their burgers yet. Local beef on those. But, my wife likes the burgers. I don't drink. So can't rate the brews. Service has always been great.
Good portions, excellent food. The wings were possibly best i have had and i like my wings. Lite lunch beer was tasty and took some to go. Atmosphere is a little lacking but service good. Would recommend.
Two years ago, I went to Mill River three times - first, second, and third strike. The beers were watery, the food was okay, but it's a brewery, so I was counting the beers as half of the experience. I hadn't returned after the third strike. When they started canning, I knew a new brewer was in place at that point, so I opted to try the cans. They were definitely better than the first experiences. Last weekend, we opted to give the restaurant a try again. What a world of difference. I can't say the beers are the best I've ever had, but they're pretty damn good given the area. Definitely strong contenders for my top 20. The Strawberry Bubblegum IPA, I never in a million years would have thought that would be my favorite of the day. I hate bubble gum, but this was so fruity, floral, and fragrant that I loved it. To hear it will be in cans soon made my day. The burger I had was exceptional. I worry about ordering rare because so many places mess that up. It was perfect. The duck fat fries that we shared in lieu of normal fries were a bit salty for my preference, but they were crisp and satisfying. The coleslaw was in my top five. I love that they do vinegar-based over mayo-based. Our waiter was excellent. He didn't hover, but he didn't ignore us. The bartender came over and talked to us for a bit, which is how I got insight into the upcoming canning. I appreciate that touch. It makes you feel like part of the restaurant's family and not just a patron. We'll definitely be back based on this latest experience.
We moved here from Texas, so we are used to the best bbq in the country. Mill River bbq stands up very nicely. Certainly the best we have had since moving north. We will definitely be regulars here.
Service was great. I think the offered sides are not really the best. Cornbread is always best served warm with butter. Food is okay, but hot or miss. Brews are always great. Fried chicken offering was not good at all.
Mill River is great! Very good size menu with lots of options. I am not a beer drinker, but others have told me their brewed in house beers are some of the best around.
Great outdoor covered seating area, service was very good. Brisket and ribs were really good, sampler came with pulled chicken, not our fav. overall, we'd recommend and return when back in the area!
Salade is very basic, frittes was okay, not special, pulled pork was very good, and pay the $6 extra for the loaded fries it worth, brisket is good and also pay the $6 for duck fat fries, it was good, sausage is okay, not very special, just, beer is not very special, in total it is a good place
My second time there. The first time maybe year or so ago service and food were great! Yesterday food was just ok and service was really not good. One young woman walking around fixing her hair and carrying a phone that never rang helping no one, a cook kept coming out of the kitchen to talk to his girlfriend and child who were eating, our server was not attentive, chatting up the table next to that she wasn’t the server for while we waited way too long for food that was just ok. There were many to go orders getting picked up while we were there. Maybe that got the kitchen backed up, but the waitstaff needs to let people know before they even sit down, that the kitchen is running a little slow. The staff was nice enough just not tuned in or attentive.
On Thursday, September 18th, 2024, my wife and I placed a to go order. When getting home ready to go and eat, I opened up the pulled chicken there wasn't any sauce on it and there wasn't any sauce containers placed on the side. It was inedible tasted like straw, and dry couldn't even describe it. We call the restaurant and let them know, but unfortunately we paid for the meal in cash, will not do that again. With speaking with the manager she was to call us back the next day as she was going to contact the owner. To date never have received a call. It is very upsetting and frustrating when you order a meal to go and you arrive at home to far to go back and really don't want to take the trip again, because your are home with your family on vacation. We return each year to st. Albans, and will never go there again and will never recommend this place. They do not make good on what they promise, it is really a shame. This day and age no one takes responsibility anymore. Update the owner called and made good on the meal which was a wonderful surprise and shows how she really cares. She was extremely nice and apologetic and we will be returning to the establishment. It was incredible to receive the call and thankful for it.
This was my second time at this restaurant. I gave it a 3 star because my brother really liked his wings and the beer is good. Our server hardly checked on us. We were charged for things we didn't ordered and it wasn't worth the effort to have it corrected since it took so long to get the bill. The food. As mentioned, the wings and beer are good, but it really does stop there. Our fries came out cold, our bread on our sandwiches was soggy and couldn't even be eaten as a sandwich. The meat was dry and flavorless and certainly not worth the $16 - $18 price tag. Be prepared to douse it in sauce (that you will get charged for mind you.) Stick to the beer and wings if visiting.
Coming from the south this may be a harsh ranking, but nothing from the food stood out except for the barbecue sauce which was terrific. Service was great for my takeout order and the inside while I didn’t spend much time looked like a great place to go and have a drink and eat
First the good. The two beers I tried were great. I had the light beer which was crisp and refreshing. I tried the sour and enjoyed it greatly. No the bad. I need to preference this with I was just in Florida and I had some of the best BBQ of my life there. I would be willing to bet this places stuff is amazing if it was fresh. I am pretty sure my burnt ends were cooked yesterday. Some of them were juicy but about a third were dried out like they had been sitting out or under a heat lamp for hours. I had to send the fries back because they had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. The corn muffin tasted like it was baked yesterday and kept in the fridge overnight. It had that kind of dryness to it. Disappointed. Which is a shame because I liked the beer and would go back to try more, but the food is going to keep me away.
Neat tidy, excellent serving staff, they go overboard to please, unfortunately the beer is terrible. I would rate it a minus 1 and I tried all they had. It was watery, lacked body and flavor almost unpleasant to drink, they MUST improve this, use more hops and taste what you sell! Food! appetizers were spinach and cheese balls with non descript sauce again lacking flavor in the sauce, pity, the balls were good. Main courses I had BBQ Brisket Platter (lean) this was mediocre, very fatty and French fries DELICIOUS FF. Sauces are again poorly done, My Wife and son had St Louis rib platter they reported it was ok but portions were small and meat did not fall off the bone, another guest had salmon which she reported was good. The two ladies had desert with sampler spoons, I tasted a butterscotch marshmallow/ice cream combo it was good, the guests had deserts which were also good . I think the they need to taste better and the bill for dinner for 4 people including drinks and tip was $168.00 and we used a $20 Jump on it discount coupon. For what we had it was by no stretch of the imagination a good deal I would not recommend at this point.
My family and I went based on reviews. Totally disappointed. My son and his wife ordered burgers, cooked med, they came out bloody, I had the brisket philley, the meat was dry and cold and the beer cheese sauce was a 1oz portion cup, also cold . Total disappointment! My grandbabies enjoyed their chicken tenders and cold fries. Btw, change the oil! From one chef to another, find just one person to train your staff! Best of luck.
I just had a late lunch, the service and atmosphere was nice, the back patio is spacious and clean, my waitress was young and sweet, and training, but the reason I give this place a only two stars is that the food was horrible. We ordered the Sampler Plate, the meat was over cooked, the sides were just as bad, the mac and cheese was bland and runny, the French fries were wilty, the grease they cooked them in was old.. and absolutely everything was luke warm at best. Me and my husband's lunch wasn't worth the price we paid. We won't be going back..sorry not sorry.
Service was great. Beer was good. Food was cold and unimpressive. Brisket Gyro was served in a "pita" bread that was thick and doughy tasting. Sandwich was unrecognizable as a gyro. The duck fat fries were cold and topped with spoonfuls of gross Chinese chopped garlic from a jar, raw. Can not recommend.
Disappointed with our results after reading all the stellar reviews. The quality of the restaurant speaks volumes as to what time you order your food; we ordered online for takeout as a pick-me-up after a trip to the ER. What's more comforting than BBQ? Ordered at 6 pm on a Sunday, the restaurant closes at 7 pm. We ordered a half rack of ribs with a side of mac n cheese, and the brisket shepherd's pie. Online ordering & pickup was smooth! Hence the extra star. But our food was very dry, especially the brisket shepherd's pie. No gravy?? The ribs were okay but on the dry side as well. The house BBQ sauce had a strong apple butter flavor that overpowered the smoked rib easily. I have to imagine we were victims of the end of the night scraps. The inconsistent quality is a big letdown. Giving 2 stars because the online ordering process was clear and great, otherwise it would be 1 star. Don't plan to go back.
Went to have their country fried which was very oily this was their special also. Like it sat in the deep fryer too long and not even seasoned. Gravy was bland tasted like flour and a hint of pepper. Mash potatoes barely warm seasoned decently. Veggies over powered in garlic no other seasoning. When I told the waitress she said thank you for the feed back and tried something else. Which was good but here’s the bad. When I received the check the special was still on the bill. So I went in to talk to the waitress about it. She informed me that they didn’t charge me for. I said that was great in all but the price difference between both meals. A lot different and she also said that my meal was fine according to the owner. And it was all in preference I said okay that’s fine. I let the waitress known that this puts a different view on how they carry their business. I let the waitress also know that I appreciated her trying her best. In a tough situation and let her know that this doesn’t reflect on her it’s on the owner and how they prepare the food.
I have been to this establishment a handful of times, and I've always had a good experience. Last night was not the case. The service was extremely slow, spanning from the waitstaff to the kitchen, which made me wonder if there was anyone even in the kitchen! No food for the entire seating area came out for 40 minutes. Then, everyone started getting their food one plate after another. It was kind of odd. Overall, we were there over an hour before our nachos starter came out. During said time, out beer glasses sat empty for 30 minutes. We ended up taking our entrée, the classic burger, home with us. Total time spent at restaurant, one hour and 43 minutes. On to the food. The worst nachos ever. We ordered the pulled pork nachos, and the pork was larger chunks, with no sauce. Bland as hell. Dry and the bottom layer were soggy chips from the grease of the pork. Again, there is no additional flavor profile. Pico/salsa, or whatever that was dry and bland. The burger was very greasy and undercooked. The fries had clearly sat in oil for what tasted like all day, then flash fried. Made my stomach hurt. I hate to put them on blast like this because they have good food and I have had good service there. I just hope they hear this and do better. Also, they offered a discount based on how long we waited. On a $70 bill, they took $3.65 off. ??? At the very least, take one round of drinks and comp that! 🙄
We attempted to have dinner here. We approached the host podium and one of the waitstaff said “ I’ll be right with you.” It would make sense to wait if someone ahead of us was being seated. There was only one table with guests. No one waiting to be seated. She had us wait because she wanted to clean tables. So we stood there. Seemed rude. She could have seated us and handed us menus and then cleaned the tables while waiting for us to decide. We decided to leave. On the way out, another server yelled after us “do you have a reservation’? The restaurant was empty. We didn’t know what to say. It was all just weird.
If I could choose zero stars that would be my choice. Decided to bring our family. We were seated and proceeded to watch several tables of people come in after us, and receive their food while we continued to wait for water and have our order taken. The staff didn't even notice when we walked out the door. Only positive was the women who was hired to perform. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Went down the road to the Bayside and had a wonderful family meal. They had great service.
I absolutely enjoy ordering food out for my family of six but on July 12th it all changed. I tried to order online that day but was met with a system error, so I attempted again and had the same error. Being pregnant and hungry I called my order in and paid on arrival. However on July 15th I saw that I was charged 3 times. SO I had to wait until Wednesday to call and let them know what happened. I never got a call back so the following Wednesday I called again and left message for manager, she did call me back and said a refund would be processed within 5-7 business days. I waited and still did not receive the refund in that timeframe. So again I called back to hear she was not there that week and a message would be left. As another week rolls by, I call to find out she is now on vacation. It is July 31st!! I was charged $96.80 three times, one being for my actual food but that leaves them owing me $192. I cant not believe how this has rolled out. I now had to file a dispute with my credit card company to try and get my money back. I will never give this place my business as much as I will miss the food. Mimmo's another local business had forgotten to turn their system off one day they were not open and immediately contacted me the next day to communicate via email and phone that a refund would be processed and left me a gift card for the inconvenience. Time to step it up Mills River.
Food is alright, but definitely on the pricey side for what you get. Won't be coming back. Spent a couple hundred for a meal only to get kicked out by the servers because of a reservation arriving that they were making space for. I've never had that happen to me before. I go out to eat for 2 reasons: for great service, and great food. This restaurant failed at both.
Went there about a month ago with my mother. Everything went fine. They set us outside. Little chilly ordered our food and when they brought my mother‘s green beans out, there was a piece of wire brush in there. What was really crazy they still expected us to pay for the full meal Even though we could’ve swallowed that metal. I would be very careful And probably pass on this place. It’s expensive in the barbecue really isn’t that great either. Anyway, just my experience.
Terrible! Just ordered a split dozen of buffalo and maple and and they made all 12 maple , I also got a brisket Philly with just cheese and they didn’t even put the cheese on so there was just an abundance of tastless meat, not to mention just look how burnt my fries are! Worst 50 sum dollars ever spent!
Abysmal! We had the sampler for two, the brisket was very dry and flavorless, the chicken could be compared to wood shavings. It was so dry And you could barely eat it.The coleslaw had huge chunks of cabbage, I’m pretty sure they chopped it with an ax. The corn muffin was cold and chewy and served without butter. The 2 tablespoons of barbecue sauce we got were mediocre. The falafel we got was actually quite tasty. The other dish was greasy and hard to eat. The waitress came to the table one time and then left us 2 dinner mints for a party of 3. You could not pay me to go back to this place.
I don’t usually leave a review, but feel compelled to do so. Dined with friends, up front asked for separate checks. Checks came & were unbelievably inaccurate. Not just an item or two on the wrong bill. Literally wrote what should be included on each check down for the server. Three checks were present, three checks were incorrect. I was overcharged, but waited so long, I gave up. On top of this, my son’s chicken tenders were inedible. Worst dining experience in a long time. Will never go back.
Orderd, a smokehouse burger was really dry. Just a plain burger for $15 and the fries look like they were reheated. Not very happy with the purchase.
The food itself is not bad. However, it feels extremely misleading for a restaurant to brand itself as a smokehouse and then not actually serve smoked meats. The menu online doesn't reflect what’s actually served, and the food they did offer had nothing to do with BBQ. Wouldn’t have gone if I had known the truth. No chicken wings, brisket, ribs, so don't expect that. This kind of advertising is really disappointing. If you’re looking for actual smoked BBQ, I suggest going somewhere else.
