Avis sur Rathskeller Bistro Fredericksburg
Stumbled across this gem in a busy Friday night when we couldn't eat at another restaurant. This was a great surprise, restaurant is downstairs in what we were told is the old morgue for the 19th century hospital that is above it. There are grates outside the windows where you can see people walking at street level. The server Juan was friendly and attentive and the food was very timely and tasty. So glad we stopped here on our trip to Fredericksburg.
This place is a gem in Fredericksburg, it opens back at 5pm for dinner. The food is delicious. The place is located in a basement of an 1800's hospital so space is limited and according to the staff the place has a life of its own. Wait staff are very friendly and courteous. Desserts are good. I'd say.that, being located in a german historic town this place lacks at least a couple of draft beer options to accompany your meal.
This has always been one of my favorite spots in Fredericksburg, and it may always be. Tonight, I had my go-to. A Jagerschnitzel and my wife got the cornmeal fried catfish. As always, it was great and tasted like a traditional schnitzel, and the German potato salad and red cabbage were great. The atmosphere does kinda tricks the mind and makes you feel as if you are in an old German town with the only thing missing is the constant chatter of the German language. The only downside I had was that the waitress forgot my beer, but they are pretty busy tonight, so I'm not going to hold that against them. In all, it's a pretty good experience.
For someone who had never been to Fredricksburg before, Rathskeller has earned its spot as the crown jewel of my trip. Its always great when your hunger optimizes the sensitivity of your nose and it guides you to a restaurant that makes you feel you were meant to find. It was just how I found this little eatery, and finding it was not as easy as you would think. Its very easy for their entrayway and sign to avoid detection as this place is located below street level in the basement of a building with some interesting history to it. As typical of a tourist, I kept scanning the area knowing that they had to be a restaurant nearby given the delicious aromas floating around till I saw their sign with the arrow pointing to a stairway leading into a basement as thier entrance. That was the only thing DOWN about Rathskeller. Everything else about the visit was a total thumbs up. Great and fast service, decent decor, welcoming and warm ambience, the drinks came in quick, recomendations from our waitress was great. The food was plated well, tasted even better, priced fairly and well received by my hungry belly. I would definately recommend Rathskeller as a place to visit when in Fredericksburg.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Fredericksburg TX! The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable!! Huge thanks to our waitress for the recommendations on the food. Can't remember her name at the moment but she was originally from Arizona. We really enjoyed her being so nice and attentive!
We wantes to stop and try something new.The food was beyond amazing. We all tried something different from the German menu it was all fantastic. Our waitress Amilia was super sweet explained each dish to us. Was very kind. The service was absolutely top notch. Food arrived very quickly.
Met all expectations!!! So many delicious breakfast choices!!! Our table of four had four different dishes and all were amazing! We also enjoyed delightful libations with our hearty brunch! Wish we could have gone back to try their lunch and dinner menus!!
Very good place to eat a nice German meal. It's a different location in the basement, but once you go inside l, you get into the atmosphere of a unique place. The server was great. We got our food relatively fast. Fresh and tasty. They were able to accommodate us, although we got there 15 minutes before closing. It's in the hear of Fredericksburg, so why not try a nice German meal 😋
Best German food I’ve had in Fredericksburg! Delicious deserts and very homey atmosphere. I enjoyed the customer service, friendly and attentive people :) Rathskeller you are my new favorite for my day trips to Fredericksburg! This place is also full of history! As strange as that sounds this used to be a hospital in the good old days and the basement where the restaurant is used to be the morgue!
Great place with large portions and tasty food. My husband and I were passing through and loved it. I got the chicken fried chicken with fries and green beans (all amazing) and he got some sort of schnitzel which was also delicious. Would come here again. Very unique and super friendly servers.
Great breakfast!!! My wife and I go to Fredericksburg every few weeks and always try new things! We were walking down the street and ran into this Hospital/Morgue turned restaurant/bar!! We got there right when they opened, around 9am and were seated and served right away! We got a carafe of mimosas. They certainly did not skimp on the champagne!! I think it was 80% champagne 20% OJ!!! I had the duck hash with poached eggs and my wife had an omelet!! My only gripe is that I seemed to not get any hollandaise sauce!! I even showed our server, she went back to the kitchen and the chef said he put it on there!! I might not know alot, but I think I know what hollandaise sauce looks like lol!!! I had to pay extra for more hollandaise!! Anyway, besides that, everything was great!! The bread they offer is awesome, reminiscent of my grandmother's bread I ate as a child. Overall, well worth it!! Will definitely come back!!
My mom and I went here because we saw the menu outside on the street and the mushroom and Swiss burger looked really good. The atmosphere is so cool being in a basement. Our server, a young guy with cool hair, was very nice and laughed at our bad jokes. And I would assume the manager/owner was very kind to us and she asked us if we needed anything and we chatted a bit too. Overall super great service and staff. The burger was the *perfect* mushroom and Swiss burger. Didn’t fall apart, and the brioche bun was a spectacular choice to help balance the heartiness of the mushrooms and burger. Next time we visit Fredericksburg we’ll stop by for sure.
This place is the only way to go when coming here! Spinach soup to start, a wonderful Texas Syrah, Veal Schnitzel w mushroom gravy was the final decision however the menu special board like this it was hard to decide. And do not miss the peach bread pudding w Carmel sauce! A signature dish! Don’t look anywhere else this is your spot!
Hubs and I have been coming to Fredericksburg every year for our anniversary and we try something different every time. We were slightly apprehensive with Rathskeller as the name in old English means “vicious skull”. Let me ease your minds… this place is DELICIOUS and though small or as we call “intimate”, it’s absolutely perfect. We started off with spinach artichoke dip which did not disappoint. Dinner was just as yummy with us getting chicken fried steak and fried catfish. Our sides were cheesy mashed potatoes and green beans(hubs had coleslaw). We always try something new each year but we’ve decided to come back here again next anniversary so that we can try more if their specials. We couldn’t make it to the dessert as we were FULL but we eyed the peach bread pudding which looked equally tasty, maybe next time. Enjoy!!
This restaurant is serious about the food. We had a nice sparkling champagne toast for our anniversary, with a tasty creative avocado/crab dip. We chose a superb fresh redfish filet over creamy red pepper sauce, and stuffed salmon with sun-dried tomato/basil sauce. Friendly service and excellent value to boot. A cellar treasure! A wonderful 3-year Anniversary celebration dinner.
The chicken parm was outlandish! I will dream about it for the rest of my life and wake up drooling all over my pillow. Super cool place, really gives German atmosphere.
We had our 4th visit and celebrated our 44th Anniversary and the food is delicious. Stuffed Eggplant is the bomb and the Pork Chop special with Cherry Jalepno was delicious. Always a favorite.
This place is top notch! We can here after being turned away at another place since they weren’t able to accommodate even with reservations! We were a party of 10 and everyone was seated promptly and we were all able to order food came out quick and hot! Everything was delish! Everything ate everything! Here are pics of the country crepes and the chicken fried steak! Amazing service and amazing food! Thank you for having us!
Had a great time coming in, the weiner schnitzel was amazing and so was the hamburgers. Great place to stop in and enjoy the food at any time, the service was great as well. We had a very attentive waiter and they were very hospitable.
I thought the food was solid. I was surprised they didn’t have higher ratings. Definitely recommend the bacon wrapped filet, the sausage plate is alright. But the cheddar mashed potato and green beans were phenomenal…like WOW. And the staff were cheerful and kind despite being super busy
Special eclipse menu for dinner and brunch (see pics) and quick, friendly service, local beers and wines, and delicious food made for a lovely dinner. Opa’s German Sausage Sample was perfect and I’m already craving more peach bread pudding (that cream!). The Jaeger schnitzel was very good too. Appreciated the local beer and wine options too. Great customer service!
Pleasant surprise. I'd never heard of Bavarian Schnitzel before, but it was pretty good. It comes smothered with vegetables and cheese instead of gravy or sauce. I also never heard of peach bread pudding before, but it's delicious. If you like peach cobbler, there's a good chance you will like this.
Indulging in the culinary delights at this restaurant is truly an experience beyond compare. The beignets are a heavenly delight, and the German sausage is a savory symphony of flavors. The friendly service adds a warm touch, making you feel right at home. Tula, the owner, takes pride in sharing dishes inspired by her grandmother, infusing each bite with a sense of tradition and love. A visit to this place is a culinary journey where history meets gastronomy, and I recommend delving into the building's rich history for an extra layer of appreciation. It's a must-visit gem!
Friendly and attentive staff! The German food was fantastic.. We enjoyed the lunch Jageer and Weiner Schnitzel made with Veal (the way we prefer) instead of pork. An added bonus was you had to go down stairs to enter the restaurant which on a 100 degree day was nice and cool. Went back for the same meal for dinner approximately 2 months later and see ice and food were not up to the standard we got at lunch.. Still enjoyed the meal, but some items weren't done the same and cooked as well 😔
This is our second time to visit this hidden gem. The food here is always amazing. Tonight our party started with the most amazing spinach artichoke dip and followed with artichoke chicken, Greek salad, and Rathskeller salad. The portions are huge and the flavors are fresh. The atmosphere is perfect for dinner or lunch. Highly recommend this local gem.
Our first stop to eat here in Fredericksburg and it was a really good one. Amazing German food but plenty of other choices as well. A quiet, almost hidden location directly on main Street yet 1 floor below the sidewalk. It has a neat speakeasy almost secret feel about it. The desserts are also delicious and made fresh daily. And of course, plenty of wine choice to accompany the food.
First time dining here. It was a plan B pick actually but had an A experience. Served quickly with a kind server. Cool little basement space that's bigger than you'd think from the outside front. My daily special 14 oz pork chop was fantastic. The cherry chipotle sauce is delicious. Spot on kraut and tasty bacon green beans. I didn't try my wife's dish but she finished it all so I assume it was good! She said it was very different then other pasta dishes but in a good way so consider that. We will be back here again for sure.
We wanted to try out some of the German food while we were in town because its not very common where we live. The food was really good just seemed a little underseasoned, I'm not sure if that's just how authentic German food is or not though so it was really more of a personal preference. The restaurant, like most places in this area, was super unique. It was pretty quiet while we were there and me and my husband really enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic! Such a fun, cute atmosphere- you walk downstairs to the little bistro that has a very simple southern charm decoration to it. We were promptly seated and the service was attentive, timely, and friendly. I ordered the veggie omelette - it surpassed even my most positive of expectations. Very well cooked and loaded with fresh veggies. The mozzarella was delicious on top. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked. And the biscuit was light a crumbly. Best omelette I may have ever had. The menu has a lot of great looking options as well. Everything was priced so well. You get a huge, delicious breakfast at a very reasonable price! I would definitely come again!
Love the ppl & the place! Oh!! The food is great, too!! We hear every time we visit Fredricksburg, TEXAS!!

This restaurant is in the basement. The meals were prepared quickly, service was attentive, price was good for portions. Our server was good in every way
Everyone was so nice! Favorite place I've been so far and food was amazing. Even bought a coffee mug to remember this place.

Stopped in during our visit to Fredericksburg. Nice little place we ate the dish with the Snitzel and bratwurst with a sausage, red cabbage and sauerkraut with a super friendly atmosphere. Great service loved the owner. We definitely recommend this as a stop on your time in Fredricksburg. They had other options not just German as well. So if the family is not all sold on German cuisine and you want other options this is a good choice. The wurst was good but not the best I've had here in Fredricksburg. Overall a solid place worth a stop. The red cabbage though is on point. I could eat that with every meal.
Food was excellent. Chicken Fried Chicken was thick and mosit. Schnitzel was thick too. Biggest complaint most places make them paper thin. Service was a little lacking though had to track down a waitress for refills as they didn't check back on us as much as I'd like. Otherwise it would have been five stars. Very romantic restraunt overall though with the basement location and small dining area.
Downstairs into a cramped kitchen seating that makes you feel like a large family at Thanksgiving in a 1,200 sft house. Noisy, but encourages you getting to know your neighbors. Best to make reservations. The menu is good but limited. The wine and beer selections are adequate with enough variety. I had the chicken fried steak. You can't take the Texan out of the boy. My wife had the pork chop. Both were very good. Personally did not care for the green beans that were a bit too much vinegar forward. The dessert was very good and the recommendation of the server.
We were intrigued by the concept, a restaurant in the basement of an old hospital/morgue. The décor outside was much better than inside. But we did like sitting at the window where you could look up and see people passing over us. I am a vegan and had the Pasta Crudo. Very delicious. My husband had the Weiner Schnitzel. It was good, but not great.
The food is overpriced for what it is, but you come for the atmosphere and Fredericksburg, so that is not a surprise. My husband enjoyed his German food plate, and I'll take his word for it since I am not a fan of that particular cuisine. I had the seafood stuffed eggplant. The entree was good, but I was disappointed by the portion size especially for dinner.
This place was highly recommended by a few people we know. The food was interesting (I got the crepes & the other 3 got the Brautwurst Dog). Mine tasted like lasagna. The crepe was more like a big noodle. The other 3 said their Brat dog was good. Only 1 bathroom. Where we were sitting was in the back by the exit. Every time the door opened, the heat from outside (100° outside) came inside. Quaint little place. We were told by locals, the breakfast is what its all about. Now, they tell us.
We've been wanting to try this unique basement restaurant. I'm bummed to say, once and done for us personally. While it has a unique history, the restaurant itself is lacking a bit in table service attentiveness, dish flavor, and ambiance. Nothing to complain about, but no real reason to be drawn back. Still glad to have visited. Another FBG restaurant tried out and checked off on our list.
Good Texas style German food. Not exactly authentic but good enough. The location is in the basement and looks very cool. The staff is friendly and did a great job. I had a side salad that was very fresh and tasty. I had Weiner schnitzel, potatoes and red cabbage which was nicely cooked. The lady has Jager schnitzel with a gravy sauce that she liked. I tried a chilled Grape Creek rouge which I very much enjoyed, so I bought two bottles across the street at the wine shop. We finished with a shared apple strudel which was nice. BTW, we got there at 5pm without a reservation. Five minutes later the tables were full. We had a good time. This was our third visit over the years.
The meal was great. Service was a little slow but that's mainly because our server was in the weeds, so I'll excuse that. She was great though. The only reason I gave four stars was simply because it was so loud, we could hardly talk to one another. Again, that might be due to how packed the place was. They really can't do anything about the sound since they are in a basement and the sound can't be absorbed by anything. Overall, a great experience. I will definitely come back.
The place (as it was named) is located in the basement.. we nearly missed it as the entrance is at the side of the building, which is an old hospital. There was a long line when we arrived (dinner time). It is not wheelchair accessible. You will have to negotiate stairs with at least 7 steps. The place is different from what a typical resto looks like; it seems like a place that has been preserved/retained and no change in structure has been made since. (And that's what an original rustic place is)! So, the seating, decor and overall orientation are kind of different. Took a while for the server to come to us, cause it was busy. However, the food was served fast. The food is okay, my nephew and niece liked it. We ordered mostly the German specialties. Before coming in, we read reviews of the place; apparently, there are some award winning dishes. The price is fair considering. The ambience is not to my liking though. Overall, an okay place to experience and taste German food while in Fredericksburg.
This is a quaint bistro tucked away in the basement area of an old hospital. It's a little crowded because of the limited space. The walls are mostly stone, so it gets pretty loud even when the restaurant isn't full. The food selection is nice; although, I would expect more German food with a name like Rathskeller. Our food was good but not great. My wife commented that the red cabbage tasted like the brand she usually buys at the store. The prices are high, but they fit in with the rest of the restaurants in town. The server was helpful and attentive.
We randomly came across this place while walking the streets and so glad we did! Off the Main Street you take the stairs to the basement to enter. Felt very European. We had the Chicken Artichoke and the German Sampler. Both were great! And the bourbon pecan pie for dessert. Would definitely order them all again! I give it 4 stars because this is one of the loudest restaurants I’ve been in. With stone walls and concrete floors and a tiny enclosed space, don’t expect a quiet meal. Not that I want a quiet meal, but I at least want to hear the people I’m with without having to yell. You can easily hear the conversations of everyone in the restaurant and that’s not something I want. The food almost makes up for it, though!
We ordered the combo plate to share. The portion was so big we didn't eat all of it. T was ok, but not great. Also, had a side of German potato salad. It was good. We followed with a large slice of German chocolate cake that we shared. Again, I would rate it as good. Service was great . Atmosphere was the highlight. No outside seating. Restaurant is located down a flight of stairs.
We were visiting Fredericksburg for the very first time in order to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Being of German background we wanted a place that catered to German food. The Rathskeller was one of the few open restaurants during this time of the week. In order to get the food for a particular time, I called in my order. I ordered Jaegerschnitzel and my wife ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with a side order of Sweet Potato Fries. The food was OUTSTANDING. I was very pleased with the quality and taste as well as the price. We would definitely visit this place again. They had my food ready when I arrived and when I got back to the room the food was still hot. Very enjoyable! Just a note - Watch the stairs, they are very steep; but such is the nature of "Kellers".
went in with a group of 10 at lunch time and was sat immediately in a practically private dining room, only shared with one other table for two, (poor couple). seemed like everyone enjoyed their food. We got spinach and artichoke dip that tasted great, and the chips had a great crunch. I got the Twisted Caesar Salad. The chicken was flavorful, the veggies were fresh, the avocado was perfectly ripe, and the dressing wasnt fishy (iykyk).
This is a small bistro under street level near the Albert Hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff was attentive. Our lunch included chicken fried chicken and a Cajun style red beans and rice and jalapeño and cheese sausage dish. My companion didn’t like the chicken much, but we both loved the sausage and red beans and rice. I might try it again, but even if I don’t, it was a nice lunch.
While visiting I noticed the menu had shrimp. Me not in the mood for German food decided something else would have to tickle my fancy. The restaurant from the main street is located down some stairs underground, which intrigued me and created mystery as I walked down. Once inside it was pretty basic with limited seating especially for large groups. You can also peer into the kitchen from most seating as it is close by leaving you hearing the cook staff. I ordered the Texas Gulf shrimp plate, priced reasonably for what it is and being Fredericksburg. The creamy cole slaw was delicious if you are into that sort of thing. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, and both the fries and shrimp were yummy dipped in the Creole sauce. However, beware if you would need to get another sauce because I was charged a dollar for an additional to dip my Shrimp and fries into. After lunch I was curious about dessert. The waitress recommended the Peach Bread Pudding stating it was the most ordered item amongst patrons. When it arrived I was hopeful, but upon the first bite of peach, bread pudding, and the cool whip or whipped topping I was less delighted. I have had way better Bread pudding in other locations and was not particularly happy with the taste. The wait staff was attentive and courteous upon arrival and during my lunch leaving me no empty glass. Overall, I would come back for the Shrimp, but I would try a different dessert. Happy Travels and Enjoy
This is a cool little spot. Really cool how you enter a cellar to go to this restaurant. One suggestion I have for the cooks is the crab dip should be served cold if possible. It is like a chunky avocado pico mix with crab. It being steaming hot through me off. I do not know if the crab needs to be hot but the hot avocado was not my cup of tea. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious. We were just stopping in for a quick end to the day bite as we were full from walking the Main Street and sampling wines.

Interesting dinning experience. It was different but in a good way. We will comeback. No complaints here. Nice atmosphere. Good food.
We ate lunch here & it was very good. Had the brat lunch & one had the Rueben. We all were happy. german potato salad was very good. We would definitely come back.
Pros: the restaurant was able to accommodate a large party of 11 on a Saturday for lunch without a reservation. Staff was friendly. Cons: We chose the restaurant specifically to have some German food, so it was disappointing that we weren’t able to recommend anything we tried. The schnitzel had a strange texture and wasn't crispy. I ordered the chicken artichoke pasta as the online menu said it was a local favorite. It was fine, but pretty plain - the sauce tasted like it was maybe just olive oil, lemon, capers, and some paprika. The bread did not seem restaurant quality, it seemed like it was from a grocery store. If the quality of the food could be improved, the restaurant is in a nice historic location and could have much more potential!
Went in for dinner, had about a 20minute wait which wasn’t much of an issue as most restaurants in town have some sort of wait for dinner. Atmosphere is mildly crowded so they can get the tables closer together, it’s pretty decent. The food tho is just average. Ordered the sausage sampler and it came out as what looked like maybe a half sausage of each flavor sliced up with some cubed cheese. A few sautéed veggies under all that but they are barely worth mentioning. The cheese was pretty bland, the mustard made the sausage okay, but nothing but average. The red cabbage was good tho, only ordered it because of another reviewer mentioning it. The peach bread pudding was decent but also pretty doughy. It’s not a bad place but I also don’t think I’ll be coming back.
I liked the vibe of this place (used to be a morgue) so perfect for spooky babes. The older man does not have very good customer service. He kinda just tossed menus at us and seemed to be in a bad mood. We asked for sweet tea, brings us unsweet tea. If you don't have your own sweet tea, maybe let the customer know that so we can get something else. The alfredo was gross, do not order. We ended up having two servers, the younger male we got was much nicer but did not check in with us as frequent as we would have liked. I would consider coming back here if we ever visit this area again. But it just wasn't great.
The restaurant looks cool and has a varied menu. However, the food all came out tasting as if it had been sitting there for a while, in particular the breakfast potatoes and the beignets. The service was very good though. Everyone was friendly and prompt.
This is a cool place for its history. That was our reason for going. The sausage platter was ok. Don't recommend the side salad, leafy springs. Don't recommend the famous blueberry lemonade, and it tasted like the dishwasher. Spinach artichoke dip was really good. The atmosphere was awesome, make sure to walk around.
Hubby and I ate here on 2.19.26 for brunch. We had been looking forward to it based on their menu and reviews. Sad to say that we were disappointed. The man who greeted us and brought our drinks..... his attitude was about as bright as the room. Not friendly to us, at all, but very nice to a table on the other side of the room. Our waiter, Frankie, was the exact opposite..... nice, friendly, helpful. He's the main reason I'm giving 3 stars. Hubby got the omelet loaded with bacon and sausage, fried potatoes and white toast. I got the 2 egg plate with bacon fried potatoes and white toast. Hubby's plate looked amazing.... omelet was huge! My plate..... my heart sank when I saw my sunny side up eggs had a brown ring od crispness that usually means they were cooked too long. I tried the potatoes first and wanted to spit them out. These were not fresh potatoes made up that morning and they weren't frozen. These tasted like they had been in the frig for a few days to serve as needed. They were both dry and rubbery, no crispy exterior and 1had a horrible taste to them. I gave benefit of my doubt and tried a second bite with salt and ketchup. Did not help. Hubby did the same as I..... push the potatoes as far away as possible since they were inedible. My eggs...... tough, bottom cooked too hard and had a very distinctive grease flavor. Bacon.... tough and crispy, like it had been reheated/recooked. Dry toast and water were the only things on my plate that were fresh!! Hubby's omelet.... he said it was great with good size pieces of sausage mixed throughout. I don't like leaving bad reviews and criticizing an establishment but I have been cooking for way too many years and know when I'm not being served fresh food. Considering that most of the pics I see posted are lunch/dinner items, maybe that's what they lean towards and not so much towards their breakfast. Just know I won't eat here when we visit Fredericksburg again
The atmosphere at Rathskeller Bistro was okay—not particularly memorable but comfortable enough for a casual meal. Customer service stood out as a highlight, earning 4 stars thanks to the attentive and friendly staff. The food, however, was a bit underwhelming. While the menu offered variety, the pretzel appetizer left much to be desired, with the dough being too thick and lacking the light, chewy texture you’d hope for. On the brighter side, the dessert was quite good, a satisfying end to an otherwise average dining experience. Overall, Rathskeller Bistro is worth a try for its decent service and desserts, but the food could use some improvement to match the charm of Fredericksburg.
We had dinner at Rathskeller Bistro on a Friday night. The feel is ok. Somewhat modern for a German restaurant. Our waiter was nice, but when we got there, someone took our drink orders. He was nic…
We were excited to eat here for the first time. The restaurants is really unique and clean. My stuffed eggplant was good not great. My husband had the jaeger schnitzel and it was only okay. I also …

Ordered the German Gobbler. Menu notes it being a Ruben (German sausage, sauerkraut, cheese, ect) . Wonderful, exactly what I wanted. Received our order, it was ham, bacon and Swiss on Rye. We are finally able to speak with our waitress and she tells us the menu has the item listed incorrectly. That what we have is indeed their version of a Ruben. My husband and I were super confused. She kindly offers to have a brat sandwich made to replace our “Ruben”. New sandwich is pretty awful. Brat has no flavor, nor did the sauerkraut. Very bland. I did enjoy watching the cook kindly eat 1-2 chips from every bag of lays chips he dumped onto everyone’s plates.
Don’t be fooled by the hype…. went in at 7pm and ordered the pork chop special…. The pork chop was reheated, you can tell by how tough it was to cut…. Not to mention the inconsistency in the “fresh” cook through the meat. Not even the special sauce could save this horrible experience. Not worth a dime for the price I paid… might be a great breakfast, horrible dinner. Especially at the price.
Arrived 30 minutes before closing felt very rushed. Patty melt had cheese partially melted to toast, meat was cooked ok but minimal flavor. Bistro burger cooked ok, bun well toasted average flavor, was very nauseous later after eating there. Be careful when going there in rainy weather steps are very slippery.
The restaurant has no real atmosphere at all and whilst the staff is friendly, the food is an insult to German cooking. It also arrived within about 10 minutes after ordering, a clear sign that th…
The 3 females working the front end were extremely rude. We were brought our food and while the waitress kept walking by the table she never actually filled our drinks or checked on us. When we asked for the manager we were told there wasn’t one and then the 2 girls behind the counter just stared at our table whispering to each other. The food was mediocre. But the service is trash
Nope. Never again. Food was greasy, excessively so. My wife got sick from it, not sure if from the grease or actual food poisoning, hard to tell when the results are the same. I question the cleanliness, everything was kinda dirty. I forget what I even had, that's how unimpressive it was. Literally anywhere else in town is a better experience and you have a ton of other choices.
Just bad vibes from this place, as well as meh food. The staff looked like they worked in the back at Walmart, although our server was a nice young man. The food was godawful. My wife and her mother got the "Greek Salad." Instead of a made-up salad in a bowl, it was just scoops of SEPARATE things - lettuce, feta cheese, some strips of chicken, and a little bowl of dressing. I guess customers are supposed to bring a salad bowl and toss it themselves. It also came with ...yuck... hummus. But they deleted that on request, thank goodness. My wife just nibbled on her chicken strips (which were flavorless) and a little lettuce. Her mother didn't eat that much. She's been eating in restaurants with us for 40 years, and said, "that's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant." I got the Reuben sandwich. It was OK, but was NOT like any Reuben I ever ate. It had sourkraut, thin layers of ham and burned turkey, melted cheese and some kind of sauce. No pastrami. It was just "food," and absolutely not a Reuben. Oh, and it came with a scoop of potato chips. Wheeeee. One note from a trip earlier this past summer: this woman on the staff was wiping tables with a rag, using the same rag with no spray or anything. It was a little warm in the place, and a couple of times she would pause and wipe her face and all around her neck with that rag, then continue wiping tables with it. Gag. So this place is off our "go to" list.
Walked in and sat down at a table. Ordered the avocado crab dip it was ok. Noticed water dripping on me and on the food. It was coming from the ac vent nothing new in texas so moved tables to get out of the rain. Ordered the pork chop special and it was to dry to eat. The more you chew the more it grows in your mouth. Potoaes are either instant or theu have to much sour cream in them. The green beans taste like they are cooked in black liquorice. First and last time Here for sure .
