Consistantly well made dishes. The prime rib isn't what is used to be a couple years ago but the other dishes (and the prime rib) still deserve 5 stars

This is one of a very few restaurants that when I leave, I don't say "The meal was good, but I could make it better at home." Every meal that I have had here exceeded my expectations in quality, taste and presentatio.

"Rachel Ray" has also reviewed this place and one time my family was there we saw her sitting at one of the tables behind us, the only thing I wash is that they wern't just a seasonal place and could keep a larger supply of lobsters available especially the bigger ones, and would consider stuffing the whole lobster like they do their stuffed lobster tail

Despite coming to Lake George for 30 years, we never ate here. One rainy Wednesday in 2022, I decided it was time. I found the reviews intriguingly polarized, so we went to investigate. Pulling up in the parking lot at 5:00 without a reservation seemed safe, but instead there was a Mad, Mad, Mad World rush to get in the door with several elderly people giving me the elbow (hey, they're from NY & NJ so what do you want, you know?). When I informed the hostess I did not have a reservation, I got the eye roll and was expecting trouble. Instead, we had a very sweet waitress and a delicious meal. As a diner, you simply must realize that this is not nouveau cuisine. It isn't even my father's food. It is my grandfather's food and it could not have been better. If you are a finicky eater or vegan, this is the wrong place for you. And make a reservation ;)

My mother turned 92 today, so of course she wanted dinner at Ridge Terrace! We had our favorite server, Anita! She's amazing! Food was excellent, atmosphere rustic and casual, staff always welcoming! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Was there tonite for the second time ever. This place is fabulous. The fra diavolo with huge Gulf shrimp was superb. And the salad was the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant with some unique ingredients The wait staff was courteous professional and prompt. They took us in without reservations. This restaurant is a must-do if you're in the region

50 years ago my parents held their wedding reception here, what better way to celebrate their Golden Anniversary, then to return to where it began! The food and staff were outstanding. Guests are still calling me raving about the food and thanking me for including them in such a wonderful party. A big thank you to the staff for helping us create another wonderful family memory ❤️

Went to the Ridge Terrace on 25 July 2020. Very pleasantly surprised. Had not been here in over 10 years and was somewhat reluctant to go, glad I did. Had the Queen cut Prime Rib and it was outstanding. Cooked perfectly, loaded with flavor and coupled with great service provided by Kristy it was agreat night out. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely perfect dinner. Everything was spot on znd delicious to say the least.simply the best of the best, had the veal a la Raymond and the duck was superb. Even the bread stuffed mushrooms salad drinks.. everything was worth every dollar spent. The wife was extremely pleased also.

D
Debbie McCullough

The food was delicious! Too much dressing on the salads. Next time I'll ask for the dressing to be on the side. As a side note, some wait staff and the bar tender had quite the " loud" discussion about vacation time and their work. Probably should have kept those conversations private.

R

The food was absolutely the best we had while visiting Lake George. The service was nothing less than wonderful. The cocktails were well made and there is a nice selection of wines and beer. We had the baked havarti with raspberry sauce. To say it was amazing is a disservice. Then I moved on to the Shrimp Rockport. My wife had the Filet Cordon Bleu. Both were unbelievably delicious and had great depth. We "forced" ourselves to have dessert. I prefer more savory desserts and the Warm Bread Pudding was wonderful. My wife was completely in love with the cheesecake with Caramel sauce. So as I said the food was fantastic. Throughout the entire meal all of the staff was very attentive and friendly. They took care of everything quickly but did not give you the feeling that they were trying to move you out the door at all. We felt like we were welcome to stay all night if we wanted. To sum it all up I need a sixth star to really rate this experience.

It was my first time going. I would recommend going to the Ridge Terrace restaurant. We were there just about when they opened and of coarse seating immediately. The food was fresh and tasty. Our waitresses were very nice and on top of things. They didn't miss a beat. I would definitely go back.

Absolutely amazing experience. It’s a cozy atmosphere perfect fit in for the Adirondacks. The server we had was wonderful and really cared about our experience. It was our one year anniversary. Every meal we had was delicious and looked beautiful. Highly recommend going.

The place gets 10 stars in my book! My Mom and Dad went there for years, Dad passed 13yrs ago and we still go to this place this very day! Yes today! You can't help but love this place. You order a salad, it's cold and crisp as it should be! The food always cooked to perfection but also taste the pride they put into their food. And with care! Will not be disappointed. And fun to watch the perfection of the servers. Such a great place! So "thank you" so much.

Haven't been here in probably more than a decade. Was hesitant because I saw some negative reviews but decided to give it a shot, for nostalgia, if not for anything else. We started with tossed salad which came with the meals. I had the dill dressing which was fantastic and my wife had the raspberry vinaigrette which she also loved. Our side salads were potato salad and kidney beans and the dressing they used in those were as tasty as I had. For an app we had the escargot. The butter it came in was great and the snails although chewy had great flavor. For dinner I had the Veal Raymond which was stuffed with crabmeat and topped with hollandaise, amazing. My wife had the seafood au gratin which she loved and I also thought was great. If I had to give a critique it would be for the rice. Said to be seasoned, it tasted like rice packet seasoning which didn't make the meal any less enjoyable. That with a bottle of wine and our meal barely came to 100 dollars. Pretty fair for how much we ate and how good it was. I wish they were open year round, but maybe I'll make it back before they close down for the season.

M
Matthew Saunders

Made a reservation but got there early and they were able to seat us. The waitress was above great! The appetizers, crab stuffed mushrooms and the French onion soup were above expectation. The mini loaf of warm bread was excellent. The starter salad was good as well. The entree was hard to choose because they all sounded great. We both decided on the seafood au gratin. Great choice it tasted awesome as did all the food. Compliments to all who work here. We'll be back!

My family and I visit Lake George yearly and make it a point to go to dinner at least once at Ridge Terrace. Their chateaubriand is, hands-down, my favorite meal at any restaurant anywhere. We live about 3 hours away and I would make the drive just for this dish. It's that good. The waitstaff, ambiance, and other items on the menu are also terrific. Can't wait to go back!

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. It was our 1st there. Made a reservation a week earlier. Busy place. Great log cabin look inside. Friendly staff. Our waitress Daniel was great. Good menu. Lots to pick from. It is expensive but the the dishes are of quality.

An old school restaurant and tavern that has been operating for over 60 years! The decor hasn't changed in years but they make up for it in amazing food. The Clams Casino and Baked Havarti are excellent starters. The provided bread is like a mini loaf of Parker House Rolls. I highly recommend the Veal Elder. An wonderfully rich meal without being heavy. All entries comes with a potato side, a side salad, as well as a relish side.

The Ridge Terrace is hands down my favorite restaurant of all time. I've been enjoying meals there since my first trip to Lake George in 2011 and I've never not made room in the trip for a dinner at the Terrace ... once I went twice on a long weekend trip to the area. I haven't strayed far from the first thing I ever tried there in 2011, but that's because I've never found it served anywhere else and it's that damn good, that being the Filet Mignon Cordon Bleu Au Champignon. Incredible. The Kidney Bean Salad and a Caesar salad to start the meal round out my favorite meal around. As a pretty talented home chef myself, I've worked out how I could go about replicating the meal in my own kitchen, but I just can't bring myself to do it, I'll leave it to the pros at The Ridge Terrace, it makes the meal that much more special every time I get to have it again.

The Ridge Terrace is a family owned and operated restaurant just South of beautiful Lake George NY. Excellent food, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient staff and gorgeous Adirondack log architecture. The Rios family is well known and highly regarded in the region for their craft and for their ability to make even first time guests feel like family. An absolute must when visiting the Adirondacks/Lake George area!!

I had a lovely dinner with my partner here when we were visiting from out of town. The log cabin atmosphere was cozy, but still classy. We both ordered the chateaubriand, and we were not disappointed! We also had a bottle of wine, which the restaurant was able to reseal for us to take home when we didn't finish it. The location is certainly a bit out of the way, but it was worth the journey, and I still had enough cell signal to get an Uber back after dinner.

Nice place. Decent food. Friendly service and probably the best coleslaw you'll ever eat. It is included as a free appetizer by the way along with potatoes salad and a bean salad as well. The wine list could be much better. But it's a nice Adirondack Log building.

I have been coming here since 1987 and I have to say this was my worse experience. I took my wife here to celebrate orur anniversary. I like this place so much that we had our rehearsal dinner here. Tonights Salmon was very salty. I said something to waitress and they said sorry and then reported to hostess and she said I will tell the kitchen. Very disappointed as I feel my personal experience did not matter.

N
Nancy Van Voast

Our waitress was extremely rude. I have great respect for waiters and waitresses, it's a challenging job. However, this woman should find other work. It made for an unpleasant evening and, quite honestly, I won't be in any hurry to eat there again.

This was our second time here. Loved it the first time, but not so much this time. The food was not as good. My stuffed mushrooms were excellent. I ordered the veal parm and it was horrible. The sauce was burnt and loaded with sugar. The chef definitely doesn't know how to make sauce. My husband had veal and shrimp with a mushroom and bernaise sauce which was not on point. We felt very rushed this time by our waitress. Not her fault. The owner was trying to turn tables over as fast as she could. Not sure if we will ever go back. We were hoping it would be a great place to eat every time.

Had Dinner last night for the first time and was disappointed. I had the clam's cassino they were ok but extremely oily, but you can't go wrong with bacon. The misses had the Chicken Fromage the chicken was bone dry, and the sauce was disgusting jar sauce would have been better it was that bad. The plate was nuclear hot draw your own conclusions. I had the rock port shrimp with was equally gross, how do you shrimp, and stuffing wrapped in bacon and have the shrimp dry and rubbery. precook them and warm them up to order, I guess. The salad and bread was the high light of our meal it was fresh no brown leaves. Potatoe and coleslaw was back to the gross side extremely heavy on the heavy mayo.

J

My wife and i went there on 8/19/2020 for our 31 year anniversary and i ordered the clams casino and the escargo for our appatizer and what a disappointment, the escargo had no flavor and the clams casino was floating in butter with a piece of bacon on it and only tasted like bacon. My main course was shrimp scampi alfredo and it actually was good but not worth $29 for the size (a $5-$8 dish given the amount of shrimp and pasta) considering my wife ordered the fillet mignon cordon blue which was delicious and was only $26 lol. Not sure when the price of pasta inflated but ok. Service was ok. I had heard that it was an impressive place to eat but i unfortunate wasn't impressed to say the least BUT to each their own but i would say don't go there with high expectations. I like to honest so others don't have a bad experience and wish they spent their $103 elsewhere. Needless to say i won't be back due to the lack of taste and portion however the atmosphere was nice.

Beautiful, unparalleled Adirondack atmosphere. The old-school continental menu is loaded with old favorites. The problem where the food is concerned is, I think the kitchen staff has jaded tastebuds where salt levels are concerned. PLEASE, Ridge Terrace, consider some serious desalination of your food - and I'm a person who ADORES salty food. The stuffed mushrooms were wonderfully presented and would have been superb if not for the extreme saltiness, I could barely taste the nuances of the mushrooms and beautiful tufts of seafood stuffing. Our entrees of stuffed shrimp and crab-stuffing-topped scallops were equally salty and ruined the enjoyment of what should have been a divine dining experience. Speaking of which, some of the waitresses are a little rough around the edges - and I'm being polite. Very brusque and phoned-in style. Oh well, at least I didn't get hit. Hope this longtime favorite destination makes a few changes - we would love to love it again.

We had 9 people celebrating a milestone birthday. The food was good, exceptional steak. A few of us had different versions and all love it. The variety on the menu was very nice. Everyone found something. Even with one of our party having significant dietary restrictions the kitchen offered modifications to make the necessary accommodations. Where the rating falls short is the service. The only reason the rating has two stars, not one, is because one of the staff was exceptional. Kind patient and willing to answer the questions we had. The other staff was quite the opposite. Short with answers, which would be ok, until the end where she was flat out rude and inappropriate to customers. More detail below. Though questions were answered they were often short. Having been in food service before I know people have different approaches and days. The last straw was when we were informed there are other people waiting for our table. Again fine, not the best approach, but sometimes needed. Howeve. we were not all done with our dessert. When politely menntioend to the staff member that it wasn't a necessary comment, I was told " you were done eating". Which I politely corrected and said I was still eating. The follow up was "I saw your plate was empty". Regardless of it was or was not (which it wasn't I was enjoying the last two bites at our tdimmly lit table), that type of behavior to anycustomer is not appropriate. I will NOT be going back, which is sad as the food was very good.

We consider ourselves seasonal locals and have been to The Ridge Terrace many times. Unfortunately, after last evening, I doubt we will be back. It started when we told the hostess we had a reservation and she said “ right this way” then said, “ you wanted that table over there, right?” I said “ “ yes” and she said “ menus are on the table “ and walked away. We stood there in the main aisle thinking maybe she would come back and escort us to the table but realized quickly, she wasn’t coming back and to seat ourselves. The waitress, with little to no personality, took our order quick enough and unfortunately we were told “ we just sold the last Prime Rib”. My husband substituted with a NY strip that was hardly a substitute and mediocre. Then there was my meal. When we ordered, I clearly said to the waitress “ We will start with the stuffed mushrooms and I will have the Seafood Au Gratin”. The waitress then asked if I wanted kidney beans or coleslaw, dressing for my salad , and baked potato or fries. Now it is important to note Seafood AuGratin is listed twice on their menu, as an appetizer and as a dinner. Since I was offered the salad, coleslaw and potato, it was quite clear to me I was ordering Seafood AuGratin as dinner, not to mention I said “ we will start with the stuffed mushrooms “. Dinner begins to come out and she brings the baked potato and says “ I was told the potato does not come with your dinner and I will have to charge you”. I was a bit confused and told her to take it away. Then the Seafood AuGratin comes out and it is so tiny I could eat it in 4 bites at most. I then realized it was the Seafood AuGratin APPETIZER. I did eat it. But when the waitress came back , I asked her “ was that the Seafood AuGratin Appetizer” ? And she told me it was and that was what I ordered??? I told her that I was angry and I know what and how I ordered it ( as above)and we were there to celebrate our anniversary. She put down the check and walked away after saying “ sorry, but I fixed it to charge you as an appetizer “. I have no idea where the mistake was made, the waitress or the kitchen, but it is unacceptable. I was brought the salad and the coleslaw, but then all of a sudden the potato is an extra charge and Seafood AuGratin became an appetizer. Extremely disappointed in what use to be our favorite Lake George restaurant. I guess I shouldn’t set my expectations so high, as when you do, you clearly can get disappointed

The most disgusting food with the absolute most terrible service! This place came highly recommended while I was visiting the area. I disagree and would never recommend such a place

M

We have been there quite a few times this was first time I was very disappointed in the visit...service was not up to its usual standard...and just overall not happy with our dinner there tonite..after being sat ..we waited over 15 minutes and I had to ask for a waitress...she seemed very flustered and they were not busy compared to most nights...once I got my meal and expressed my dislike of the taste she made no attempt to replace ..offer something else or take it off the bill..even seeing I didnt eat it ...as everyone else at my table was eating dinner...I was quite shocked ...as were my quests...her response was next time maybe try something else...as if after this experience or her response I would consider a next time...lol...so I patiently sat through dinner and paid my over 200 dollar bill and left...still quite baffled as never have I had such a bad experience at the Ridge Terrace...

This place is nice but the waitress we had was so rude and disrespectful to us the entire time we were there. When we were leaveing she followed us and mandated us to give her a bigger tip.(our tip was a dollar less then 10%) she told us to give her more. The food was not the best either.we were rushed and our food was taken before we were even finished . This was our first and last time there.

Tried the Ridge Terrace 3 times.... If you like food they serve in a nursing home your in luck(salty foods and un-needed sauces). 30mins to get drinks from the bar, 40 mins to get salads/soup/bread/and this weird "relish plater", an hour and a half to get our appetizer. After all that we still waited 40 more mins to get our dinners. Prime rib was good, salmon was dry, pasta sauce was very watery. During all this our server as super busy, but it seemed like the "hosts" had time to chat with a table of friends and have some sangria with them. This is not the first time we have "dined" here and every time we have been disappointed(we are locals). They seem to be plugging along on just their name and nostalgia.

L
Laurie Pelczynski

The food is just okay. When I didn't eat my meal (because it was not edible) the waitress was nice enough to offer to comp that portion of our meal...only to have the owner's daughter bring the meal back to the table and demand to know why I didn't like it and told us that she would not comp the meal and walked away, leaving the uneaten meal at the table. Very disappointing. Will not be back.

B
Bob Ericksen

My Wife and I were looking forward to a dinner tonight at Ridge Terrace. I checked Google to be sure they would be open, and yes it said that they would be open. A check of their Web Home Page, which did not give any information about restricted hours. So we drove from Bolton Landing around the lake to find they were DARK.

We have been coming to this restaurant every year for the past 5 years that we’ve been coming up to Lake George, never again. It started with the waitress explaining why our service would take longer, but she would do us the favor of taking the order anyway. Then serviced our drinks, but no refills cause they ran out of lemonade, and still charged us full price. Don’t try to share a dish, their is an extra charge for that. Don’t ask for any extra sauce cause you are told they will try but not allowed. Finally if you want the cute doggie bag keep an eye on your food they leave the food on a back table unattended for a while before it’s packaged. And if this isn’t enough if you leave a tip in accordance to the service you received, the waitress will chase you down the parking lot and question your reason for giving a less than 20% tip.

Appetizers were delicious. Dinner was okay just not to our palette but service was horrible. Everyone was extremely rude. Left a 10% tip which they were lucky to get and chased us outside to ask why. We told them our reasons and they apologized and suggested next time we should raise our hand to get their attention to get better service… or they could just do their job in the first place.

Awful meal. Never going back. Salad had been made ahead & water had collected under the vegetables. Grocery store bread. Baked potato baked in FOIL?? That makes boiled potatoes. Yuck. Coleslaw tasted like coconut. Never of us could eat it. My husband told the waitress it was terrible and she laughed! Meat was good but the horseradish sauce with my prime rib had no horseradish. $96 for good meat is not an fun evening out to us.

Never coming back. Worst service I have ever received. My family and I went out to get belittled for 125$. Server had a chip on her shoulder and was very slow to bring us drinks. 20 mins for a beer... than the food. Never order anything from that kitchen. Cooks look dirty and the food tastes similar. For 28 dollars for chicken parm I would expect to enjoy it, but when we told them that both chicken Parms tasted bad they told us that is how they have done them for 47 years and wouldn’t do anything about it other than remind us how long they have been serving this horrid food. I hope the little witch that talked to us reads this. I would love to see them loss business for the terrible attitudes. I understand bad food, remake it or offer something else, but the looks and comments we got from the server and manager killed us. Never going back and letting everyone know that they are horrible people.

Extremely rude & dissapointing waitress ruined our entire evening. And the tip of the iceburg that really ended our relationship with this restaurant, after we asked if we could PAY for a substituion for something they were out of that was part of a meal for a special needs child with food sensitivity, the waitress yelled and belittled us for even asking. We sat in silence shocked at her horrible, disgusting behavior. We will NEVER be going back there again. I have never been to a restaurant where we have been treated so badly. If you're looking for an expensive restaurant where you can get yelled it, this is the place to be!

Horrible! I’ll start by saying that I never write reviews. My family of 7 just went for dinner and each one of us agreed that the food is really really bad. I had the chicken Alfredo and it was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever eaten. On top of that our waitress was extremely rude and should choose a different profession. She literally fought with me over a discrepancy with the check, ripped it out of my hands. Trust me, STAY AWAY!!

Caution dishonest service! Waiter asked what dressing I wanted on the salad that was included with my meal, got the bill and realized I was charged for a salad I didn't even ask for.. I thought it was included?! So when I asked she explained it was 8$ for the dressing, must have been a whole bottle of dressing I guess? dishonest and poor customer service!!! Didn't really care about the salad anyways I just thought it was included, would have been nice to know before ordering! Waiter should be honest when ordering and tell about upcharges!! Won't be coming back..

We had a party of 30 people on 8/12/18..... we have never been so mistreated as we were there.....wait stuff being overheard saying by no means will we accommodate this party...laughing behind our backs. We spent over $1000.00 and had a terrible experience.... they wouldn't split our checks but would take multiple payment methods....does that even make any sense? We made reservations for a family reunion and spent most our time trying to beg the staff to accommodate us with splitting the bill into perhaps just three or four different checks. On top of that they were rude while clearing the table, even hitting one of our family members in the head with a dish....and bringing out the sides after the main course.....it's like serving desert before the steak.... My wife ordered the chicken parm.......please don't make the same mistake.....it was absolutely dreadful. All I tasted was nutmeg.....I think that's what it was. My sister ended up calling the management and complained...sounds like they just yesed her and offered nothing for our bad experience. If I managed or own this establishment, I would find out all who worked last night and fire them on the spot....including their unfriendly homely looking hostess......no questions asked. If I could give negative thumbs down....I would give a -10. There looks like a much better restaurant about 2 miles north of this one.... #terrible #chickenparm

In the middle of nowhere and hasn't been updated in clearly decades including the menu. The only thing they make here that is good. ..and REAL good is the filet surrounded by mashed potatoes. It melts in your mouth. But...considering I'm a vegetarian, I found my meal less than worth going back for. Very dark inside, I'm not that old and I could barely read the menu it was so dark. I'd pass.

If you like wasting money on terrible food then this is the perfect restaurant. It was a terrible experience before we even got there as we called ahead and the person was basically rudely rushing us to get there. When we arrived our waitress took about 20 minutes to come over to our table. Someone at my table order a coke and it was flat. When he tried to talk to the waitress about it she recommended that it goes better with Jack and didn't even offer to get another one. While trying to talk to her about the coke she apparently was getting paged so she left and didn't come back. The appetizers were delicious but the food was awful. I ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo and it was awful. It's like they cooked the chicken and dumped all of the seasoning on it after. The waitress didn't come back until the end of the night to ask if we needed boxes and the check. When asked if she can remove the coke from the bill she said they wouldn't and that it was only $2. We left a 10% tip which she is lucky that any was left at all. As we walked out another waitress ran out behind us to ask why we only left 10%. Definitely will not be returning .

This is a gorgeous restaurant. It is so fitting to Lake George, where my husband's family had a summer home on Assembly Point for 40 years. Going to the Ridge Terrace for dinner was always a special treat. We tried it last summer and hoped it had improved. One dish I recall was kidney beans in cream sauce, as for creamed chicken. No one had ever experienced such s dish. This year, after the rest of the family left, just the two of us went for a drink. The bartender was new (as of several days before), but he told us he had done other bartending. He seemed extremely nervous. It was clear he had no clue how to make our Manhattans, or any other type of a drinks for which the waitresses brought him orders. I am not sure what was put into my drink, but I had a bad reaction to it. We did order food, but took it with us and never ate it. We were concerned about it at that point.

A great place for bad taste. I don't honestly know where to start with this. Four of us went to this fun house for a nice dinner. We should have known what we where in for when the cole slaw came out swinging. Do you like sweet cinnamon sticky buns this cole slaw has you covered raisins and all. Do you like improperly cleaned escargot this place has you. Do you like bland food mixed with overly sweet sticky buns this place has you. Do you like to over pay for quite frankly just terrible food with one note of flavor. Well then come on down to the ridge terrace. The take home bag says it all but I'm sure the dog would put it's tail between it's legs and run. This place was comically bad. So go and waste a good amount of money or save that cash to burn in a fire for more fun.
