They make The BEST general tso chicken! I was thoroughly impressed!
Great food! Dumplings, rice, noodles, veggies, it’s all great. We are from out of state and this is the place I compare food to back home. Still haven’t found food that matches. We’ll be back again and again!
Incredible. The pork fried dumplings were so good and survived a lengthy delivery (not the restaurant's fault). Great flavors and menu variety but the dumplings are always going to be the best item
I've never seen a vegan xio long bao before or dan dan noodls. I've not been able to ear pork for a very long time, and xio long bao was one of my favorites and same with dan dan, so happy to have it again! Absolutely delicious! It's so sad this restaurant isn't in Toronto ): . Also, they have a wide variety of bubble tea. I got the lychee, which was also delicious :)
The people who operate this place are so kind, and the food is consistently delicious. The bok choy, as simple as it sounds, is fabulous.
Best soup dumplings I've had since Din Tai Fung in Hong Kong! Cumin beef is fantastic. Selection of slushes and smoothies are worth trying (and inexpensive). Cute decor, clean. Overall prices are a little high but worth it, I think.
Great staff and great food! It's a bit tiny to eat there in person so I like to do delivery and these guys rock! Go for the Dong Jing rice bowl as it's really tasty and the delivery staff are speedy and nice. Love these folks :)
Excellent gyoza and dumplings, also had delicious chicken dishes. The service was great and prices reasonable. Great vibe, would recommend this place as a laid back place for a quick bite to eat if you're in the area
top 5 soup dumplings in manhattan
There are two branches for this restaurant here in Manhattan. One is up on 125th St. and the other is closer to Lincoln Center. They’re both fantastic. The food is delicious. I love the sesame noodles and also the pan fried pork dumplings. This is the kind of place that I’m sure would be fantastic regardless of what you order. I can tell it would all be delicious. They are just great. Also, the service has always been fantastic, too. Really nice people.
Been there twice now. Scallion pancakes are so good. The steamed veggie dumplings are amazing too - the filling is actual greens, no filler, perfectly seasoned. My second visit included the scallions pancakes again (they're that good) and the pork soup dumplings - comparable to what I will get in Chinatown. I'm definitely returning here.
Definitely the best Chinese food in the neighborhood at either branch. Great vegan options as well. Price is a drawback. Definitely not your cheapie takeout place.
I’ve been four times just in the last month! Attentive service, sweet but-not-too-sweet boba, tasty kimichi pork soup dumplings, and the beef scallion pancakes are fantastic. Plus, reasonably priced! This place deserves more stars ✨
This is the most authentic Chinese and Taiwanese-style food outside of Flushing. Just plain delicious. Of course it costs a bit more than cheap takeout- it is cuisine, not fast food! Still incredibly cheap for the phenomenal food you get. There is no tougher critic than my wife, who is from Taiwan and loves it too; our only issue is that we eat too much every time we go!
The best soup dumplings I’ve had in the city. Spicy kimchi and crab are my favorite. I love that the staff is very friendly and Worth a trip to UWS for some of their soup dumplings
I’ve only ever done takeout. But this place is always fantastic. Great dishes both staples and some terrific specialties. Try the rice cakes and pork, the popcorn chicken, and the beef scallion pancake. Lots of great options.
The dumpling room has been a special treat for my family for the past six months. The staff is always very kind and the food is amazing! Don’t miss this little spot hidden under the one train. Great for families where kids can watch the train run by every few minutes. Thanks La Salle Dumpling Room!
Lasalle Dumplings is a brand new restaurant with amazingly scrumptious dumplings ! I visited recently on a Sunday evening and was greeted by Sam the manager and the very pleasant wait staff. The pork & vegetable dumplings, fried rice and general T'so chicken was all freshly prepared and served hot. Highly recommended for couples, groups or families. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and you can view into the kitchen where the meals are prepared. I had the opportunity to meet the lady that preps the dumplings. She speaks very little English and has the most delicate small hands, just right for fine art of tasty dumpling making ! Go there now !!
Incredible food!! Highlights were Beef Scallion Pancake, Pork Xiao Long Bao, and Dong Jing Rice Bowl. Really nice, calming vibe inside of the restaurant as well. Service is fast too! As a newbie to Asian cuisine, this was an amazing overall food experience! Definitely will be back for some great soup dumplings and rice bowls 🤙🏻
I love going to La Salle Dumpling. My favorite dish is snow cabbage with shredded pork noddle soup. The manager is friendly, the service is good and the ambiance is pleasant. The location is one block south of 125th street subway station on Broadway. Check it out.
Great neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The dumplings & bubble tea are good. The price is average of the city with a dinner for 2 people around $50. There isn’t usually a wait on the weekends and they have pretty quick takeout also.
Great place to check out, my wife and I loved it here! Very clean restaurant on the inside. The chicken lo mein was fantastic and definitely try the pan fried pork dumplings.
I'm proud Harlem has a dumpling house called the dumpling room that can hold it's own weight. You can get burly pork dumplings uptown without the trip to Chinatown or Flushing. The proportions were really good, very filling / flavorful. The fried shell's texture doesnt overpower the filling which is awesome, but the steam dumpling was purfecto . It's not messy, its fresh out the kitchen and it immediately hits the spot. I could go on & on about my Sunday, but the point is, what's the point of going to the dumpling spot if you're not gonna order dumplings?? Will be back for all the dumplings next time!
Fantastic dumpling house. We'd ordered delivery from here before and it was very tasty, but it's a comfy place to eat at... high ceilings and retro-decor. The food obviously here is the star. Dumplings had to be on point and they were. Scallion pancake roll ups were delightful. General Tso was fine. Nothing special, but that's not what you come here for. 5 Dollar beers were a pleasant surprise. Lastly, they were super accommodating to our 3 year old and 20 month old. HOME RUN!!!
I enjoy each time I go there for their always welcoming, friendly and the food is excellent
Yooo this place was like a hazy dream! I went once with my friend, if I’m not mistaken either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, it’s like we appeared there. Food was warm, homey and flavorful. We had filled scallion pancakes, soup dumplings and a soup I need to go back because 🤤🤤🤤🤤
My family loves this restaurant. We eat here almost once a week. The pan fried pork dumplings are my son‘s favorite. We always love the string beans! Fast service, quality, food, fair price. Never disappoints.
My husband is vegetarian / plant-based so we’ve never eaten soup dumplings together. I was blown away by how delicious the plant-based soup dumplings here were. They have an entire menu that is creative Chinese plant-based. We had the Dan Dan and the cold sesame noodles and all hit the spot.
One of my favorite places in the area. Consistent quality!
As a man who has ate in almost every Chinese spot in Manhattan, this restaurant is absolutely quite something else. No ,literally. The restaurant looks absolutely phenomenal, it's amazing how they could build a contemporary yet 100% Chinese styled restaurant in Harlem. The dishes all tastes authentic but also combined with some improvements in them( for Americans of course). Not the biggest menu you might notice, but that is precisely what makes them unique, each dish has been cooked over and over again everyday, saturated with the chef's experiences and techniques. Trust me, it's quite something!!
Tasty soup dumplings (xiao long bao). The scallion pancakes are at a whole other level too. Not sure why their rating is mid. It’s not a high-end but isn’t that the point? Staff are helpful and polite, though matter of fact. After the second visit, we find it comforting. Chow mein and beef with scallions also memorable. Kid friendly.
Dining at La Salle Dumpling Room was an absolute delight from start to finish. If you're a fan of dumplings or looking to explore the world of dumplings, this place is a must-visit. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm and friendly service. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a relaxed family dinner. The star of the show, of course, is the dumplings themselves. Each dumpling is a work of art, with delicate, handcrafted wrappers and flavorful fillings. It's evident that the chefs here take their craft seriously. The flavors were exceptional. Whether you prefer your dumplings steamed, pan-fried, or in a comforting bowl of soup, you won't be disappointed. The dipping sauces provided the perfect balance to enhance the taste without overpowering the natural flavors of the dumplings.
5 stars I had a little hiccup with my order initially—the delivery driver accidentally took my food to the wrong location. But Sam from La Sally Dumpling went above and beyond. He personally called me to apologize and made sure my food was delivered to the correct address quickly afterward. That level of kindness and commitment to customer service is so rare these days, and I truly appreciated it. And let me tell you—the food was worth the wait and then some. These dumplings are hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life. Perfectly made, full of flavor, and clearly crafted with care. I’m so glad I found this spot, and I hope more people get to experience their incredible food and wonderful service. Highly recommend!
A nice little Chinese spot on the upper west side near Riverside Park. We came here after a 5 mile run along the westside highway. I ordered the spicy and diced chicken, lightly breaded and perfectly spiced. A hefty portion with nice side of rice. Our food came out fast and efficiently, honestly nothing to complain about. The menu is simple but it probably means they take pride in every one of their dishes, it also came with a full vegetarian menu too, which was a welcome surprise to my vegetarian friend.
We've ordered from La Salle Dumpling Room quite a few times over the past year. Food is consistently solid. We really like this spot. Tonight there was a little mess up with our order, and they handled it right away. Highly recommend this spot.
As a Jewish man I order asian food every Christmas. Likely the busiest night of the year for these restaurants. Christmas 2025 I ordered and they sent me the wrong order. I told them and they had me keep the wrong order and re sent the right order. Very good customer service.
Handmade fresh dumplings and Asian fusion dishes. So good. Service is fast and friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Definitely give it a try!
Delicious soup dumplings and chicken fried rice. The spot is cozy and decorative on the inside. I enjoyed the food (not an expert in the cuisine but it left me satisfied). I’m a tad surprised at the comments about the prices. Seemed normal to me. I wouldn’t call it cheap, but it’s definitely not expensive. Maybe for students who live nearby $12 for 6 dumplings is outrageous, but I saw nothing wrong about that. Give this place a try. I thought it was worthwhile.
The original Soup Dumplings were very flavorful and served with dipping sauce with lemon rind slivers was a great start. Next I ordered General Tso’s Chicken which although very simple came with rice and steamed broccoli but only wish there was more sauce… Service was friendly and efficient.
Been here twice so far, the first time I got veggie dumplings based on other reviews and beef pancake wrap-YUM. The second time I ate here I got pan fried dumplings and those blew the veggie dumplings out of the water!! Delish :) great place in Morningside to get dumplings. Looking forward to trying some of their other menu items. Both times food has been hot and fresh.
Chicken Brocolli, General Tso, Pan Friend Dunplings, Pork n Crab soup dumplings and Honeydew Green Tea. First off, tea was decent, but don't expect top shelf tapioca. Chicken Brocolli and the General Tso's (could have been crispier) was well seasoned, a relatively decent upgrade to regular fast food takeout 😋. Pork dumplings however, fell off the cliff unfortunately. High expectation from the first 2 entries really stacked the plate on it but the flavor fell completely flat. The filling had no impact, tasted more of a ginger cabbage mix than juicy ground pork, the balance was off. Dipping sauce was standard fair, soy and vinegar, hint of ginger. Comparable to regular takeout dumplings. Soup dumplings are a solid 4/5, filling was juicy, flavor was pronounced and present unlike the pan fried version. Need to get beef wrapped scallion pancakes before a finalized decision.
Some of the best soup and steamed dumplings in NYC. The quality is fantastic and the staff is friendly. Service is generally fast. It is very clean and and nice atmosphere. Chicken and broccoli is not the best through. There is also not a lot to do in that area after.
I think the dumpling here is good. The hand made dumpling with the fresh pork and scallion is a homesick food for me. The beef noodle I had was good as well, the authentic Cantonese style beef noodle soup. But the price was high compared to other Chinese restaurants. But considering its quality I think this place worth a try.
Went here pre dinner rush hour on a weekend and quite liked it! We really liked the soup dumplings. They were flavorful and the dough was a medium thickness which I like. Scallion pancake, however, was a bit meh, considering the $8.50 price. We also had the hot diced chicken, which was also a bit disappointing. Not hot at all (the slightest hint of spice) and definitely too salty. Service was prompt and courteous.
Decent sized place can usually get a seat without a problem. The dumplings are good but not a huge range considering they’re named dumpling room. The other offerings are good but it’s not my favorite Chinese place in the area. That said we still go fairly regularly, it’s not bad.
Stopped by La Salle Dumpling Room and loved the cozy vibe and impressively quick service. The pork belly ramen soup was solid—warm, flavorful, and very good. But the absolute must-try is the chicken dumplings in spicy vinaigrette. They were excellent and the clear standout of the meal. Highly recommend checking it out, especially for those dumplings!
I had the Dan Dan noodles. They are tasty but not at all authentic. I also wish it had a little more veggies! But the atmosphere was nice and quiet, cool and relaxing, great for a chat with a friend.
La Salle Dumpling Room Layout/atmosphere *Eighteen tables inside; black & white photos of people and scenery from China on one wall; blue floral plates on another wall; tables on elevated deck on sidewalk under awnings Food/drink *Steamed Pork Dumplings (with soy sauce) - Good *Hot & Spicy Diced Chicken (with white rice) - good; some heat but salty *Thai Ice Tea - OK; sweet, milky almost coffee ish taste
Saw the spot on seamless forever, was walking by a decided to drop in for a meal. The place is clean with interesting decoration, old photographs adorn the walls. Server was friendly and quick. The steam dumplings were large but bland, needs seasoning in the filling, dipping sauce only helped a little. Beef chili noodle soup was flavorful, tender beef, peppers and noodle in a delicious light broth.
Had the pork dumplings and cold sesame noodles. I’ve been looking for noodles like this for a long time! They are so delicious and have the perfect amount of sauce on them. The dumplings tasted very home made in the best meaning of the word! They tasted so fresh. I was served very quickly and got my food quickly. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. I’ll be back to try the other dishes for sure. Note: I spent about $20 on both the noodles and the dumplings, and it made me quite full.
Ordered pork dumplings with crabmeat and coconut milk bubble tea. Dumplings were so good had to order another round but with shrimp. 5/5 Bubble tea was great, too, not too sweet. It was very quiet for Sunday afternoon, waitresses was very attentive, overall good experience, would like to come back to try pan fried dumplings and specials.
Dan dan noodles were kind of plain, but not bad. Soup dumplings were good. Small portions. There's a lot of better places downtown, but if you're really craving dumplings, it's good enough for a fix.
Nice Chinese place for delicious dumplings, along Broadway. I have tried almost all dumplings on their menu & my favorite is the Chicken Dumplings with Spicy Vinaigrette. Shrimp is great too. Taro milkshake is luscious & inviting. Moderately priced & Best for group dining.
Food was kinda boring. Soup dumplings were decent nothing crazy. Bok choy was good. Vegetarian General Tsos was really boring, no love in it at all.
A great place to visit and hang out with friends. Dumplings are very good but not if you want the traditional ones. The decor is beautiful and modern. They adapted the food for a more younger crowd with a trendy twist.
The dumplings are good. I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for six years. It’s convenient and probably the best affordable Chinese in the area. I’ve been rushed out of the restaurant a couple of times after paying the check. This is unnecessary and quite rude. Dropping the check at a table and saying “closed” is not nice. There are other ways of politely asking customers to leave.
Mid to be honest. Ordered the szechuan tofu and first they made it with soft tofu which I prefer firm and then Secondly the sauce texture and flavor wasn't thick nor rich enough to what I prefer. Also ordered the oickled cabbage noodle which without the soup and pork and tofu instead which wasn't bad, just again low flavor. The service and place/atmosphere was great though! Also prices were really high for what you got. The portions weren't even that big. Just can in deep and wide bowls. They give you like a cup and hald of rice too, very little. Overpriced.
I can offer opinions only on the vegetarian part of the offerings. Steamed dumplings are really good. Thats all l found good. Kimchi fried rice was tolerable. Vegetable noodle soup had vegetables in hot water. At least, the vegetables were well cooked. Some tofu curry had it in a kind of lumpy garlic sauce. Interiors and ceiling are nice. If that is all you have something nice to say about a restaurant,......
La Salle Dumplings was a great spot for me and my friends to eat until today. The women who took my order today was very rude and nasty to me from the minute I walked in and ordered I like to pay ahead and always request it in to go plates as I only have a 30 minute lunch break, I payed with my card but didn't tip on the card because I'd rather tip in cash as I leave based on the service, as I asked for condiments she mentioned next time I should tip, very disrespectful and she rolled her eyes when we asked for a bag as my guest and I left. She targeted my guest and I personally and no one else, so it wasn't a bad day she just maybe prejudiced
Delivery was fast, food was hot and packed well. Kimchi pork dumplings and string beans were good. Hot and Spicy chicken was not good--the flavor and texture seemed really off. The General Tsos chicken was dry and stringy. The cold sesame noodles weren't great. Prices were much to high for the quality.
Vegan soup dumplings were delicious but everything else really lacked flavor. The rice cake was bland and sliced very thin. The dang dang noodles were basically spaghetti with oil, and the chili cauliflower was limp and bland. We didn't receive our tea or scallion pancake so I'm afraid I can't review those items! Passable but won't return.
Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the neighbourhood, the Dumpling Room is certainly a good choice. But unfortunately from my past experiences of ordering and eating there, I am not particularly impressed by either the taste of the food or the quality of ingredients. The dumplings do not taste very fresh and the quality of fried rice is lacking. I would only recommend going there when you really crave Chinese food and do not want to travel the distance to eat at an authentic Chinese restaurant that serves fresh high quality Chinese good.
Really wanted to like this place as it’s the only soup dumpling this part of town. I’m sad to say we were so unhappy with our food we left halfway to get pasta next door. Xiaolongbaos (soup dumplings) here had unbelievably thick and dry skin, the soup inside tasted like MSG, not sure they even qualified as soup dumplings. And the scallion pancake tasted like nan bread from the supermarket. I’m surprised this place lasted for so long but guess there’s no other options around. The decorations and service were good though and I can’t say the food was horrible...it’s just not chinese food.
I did a take out through grubhub. It was the worst noodle soup I’ve ever ate. Pretty sure they used spaghetti in it. The pork was dry and tasted terribly. Never again.
Food was good. Service is okay. Didn’t top because they didn’t go there job correctly and the guy there said he would charge me card 50% tip. Which is illegal. Don’t go here, they are rude and lousy.
Horrible experience! I called to ask for the location. Nobody knew where they were located. I was in a car! I just wanted to know if they were on the east side or west side of the street No one had the patience or respect to tell me! I ordered dumplings had a bite and basically wanted To throw them away, so I did! Don’t waste your time or money
Just bad. Overcooked dry chicken, overcooked dry scallion pancakes, tasteless dumplings. Really a shame to spend far too much on such mediocre food. So much great food in NYC to choose from, so recommend you skip this option.
I placed an order through a delivery app. Since it was running close to two hours late, I gave the restaurant a call and they told me that they don't do delivery in the morning. I asked them if my order can be put through the system now, or if I can do anything about it to get my food or get a refund. She responded "what do you want me to do about it?" This is the worst service I've received over the phone and I don't know what I did to deserve it. Horrible service.
