Nice new place, can't go wrong when the menu has typos :) Mostly good dumplings, the pan fried pork buns were absolutely delicious, and the KungBao chicken were very surprising and flavorful. The hand pulled noodles in the big chicken plate were also delicious. Good XLB. The burger and 3 flavor dumplings were just ok.

Phenomenally delicious braised beef noodle soup! I’m Chinese and just got back last week from a trip to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taiwan. I tried many top spots for braised beef noodle soup in different styles (across the range of clear broth to brown broth). This place honestly bats with the best of them: fragrant, complex, earthy, very rich broth. And the braised beef was so tender too! Surprised you can get such delicious noodle soup in such a large portion for $16 in SF

One of the pork/beef burger is made the authentic way as in China. The best I had in America. (肉夹馍) Noodle and bao are also great. All hand made.

A true gem…the braised beef noodle soup, cucumber salad and lotus root salad, and especially the sichuan wontons are favorites. Service and staff are amazing as well. Same owners as Mini Potstickers further down Irving St, but this spot has even more menu options. A must visit in the sunset!!

The paradigm for a good dumpling place. Delicious food and really friendly owners/employees. Bring a friend and split the sichuan spicy, kung pao, pan fried and pork dumplings. You’ll leave happy!

My litmus test for most Chinese restaurants is trying their Zha Jiang Mian, which is a favorite childhood dish of mine and I have very strong preferences on how it’s served. I was in a hurry so I was only able to grab one dish so I got that one. It was the best I’ve tried so far in the Bay Area. The hostess cautioned me that it might be a bit salty and to spoon the delicious black sauce a little at a time to achieve appropriate saltiness, which I did, but ended up putting everything in, and the saltiness was perfect. The noodles had a very enjoyable chew to it, and the fresh veggies on top were crisp and cool. Exactly how my grandmother used to make it. Except the noodles here were better. I clearly need to check out their other dishes to make my final verdict, but I was thoroughly pleased so far. Looking forward to my next visit.

Jian Bao is finally open!! My girlfriend and I have been salivating at the pictures in their windows for the last few months and we tried it tonight. Everything was so delicious - our favorites were the pan fried pork buns, the spicy Sichuan dumplings, and the Uyghur hand-pulled noodle plate. Jian Bao will definitely be a go-to neighborhood spot from here on out.

Great handmade soup dumplings, and great service. A must try if you are in the neighborhood.

Writing this review from the table. Highly recommend! New spot. Small, unassuming space from the outside but offering delicious dumplings, noodles, bao, meat dishes. A big bonus here is the self serve appetizers - kimchi, egg drop and seaweed soups, tea, mochi balls, and other fermented goodies. A+ come check them out!

We tried this new place today and it was delicious! Everything handmade and super good. They recommended we try the Uighur chicken with noodles and it ended up being our favorite dish. Will definitely come back again!

Been here several times with my family, and it’s a new neighborhood favorite for all of us! They are very sweet with the kids and everything is super flavorful. We’ve gotten the beef noodles soup, dumplings, xlb, braised pork ribs, big chicken plate, and pan fried buns. Highly recommend!

So thrilled Jian Bao has joined the neighborhood. Our favorites are obviously the Jian Bao, which literally explode when you bite into them. Other delicious items include: - Beef or Wonton Noodle soups - Xiao Long Baos - Kalbi Ribs (I know, Korean and not Chinese) The regular dumplings are kind of meh. The frozen one sold in bulk at Yummy Dumplings down the street are in the same ballpark and can be made at home. Anyways, we have already ordered from here like 3 times in the past 6 weeks. Love them!

Great new place in the neighborhood for authentic Chinese food, the Sheng Jian Bao was perfectly crispy on the bottom just like in Shanghai. Knife cut noodles were great too.

The niu rou mian broth had a bit too much clove and vinegar for my taste but generous helping of meat and bok choy. Service was friendly. Will have to try the bao next time.

I didn’t like the food we got but service is really nice - tomato and cheese dumpling was ok but the dough was delicious so I’d imagine their regular dumplings are solid - spicy XLB tasted like hot pot but of just the spice that I don’t like. It kind of reminded me of leftover hot pot not the starting broth - pan fried pork bao, the filling was delicious but the skin was too dry Chili sauce is delicious

Summary: the food was good, but not sure I'd come back. + Their signature pan fried pork baos are delicious - perfectly fried exterior and sizeable filling of pork and soup. My only criticism is the price - at $15.50 it's $2-3 more than other restaurants I've been to. ± The braised beef noodle soup was good, nothing special but the beef was tender and noodles chewy (although a little too soft personally). ± Xiao long baos were okay - wouldn't get them again. They are dim-sum style in aluminum cups, which isn't my preference. - Service was meh - only ever checked on when we ordered and when we wanted the check. The restaurant wasn't even half-filled, but the waitress seemed to be busy talking to customers she was acquainted with. I guess you don't come to a Chinese restaurant for the service, but worth noting. - Tipping: please be aware the custom tip option is in Chinese. The lowest auto-tip option is 18%, which I think is ridiculous considering service was meh.

Food was good but service was poor. Water tasted awful for some reason. Probably won't return because there are places with similar food nearby with kind and friendly staff.
