Great value, hospitable welcoming staff, and delicious food very ample in quantity! We got the congee which we loved the consistency of. Chicken was well seasoned. The garlic A Choy vegetable dish was also splendidly flavorful. Beef skewers had a juicy rich chewy texture. Highly recommend and we will be back!

When it lights up at night , it looks like the square lanterns - Fabio’s a- we lit up in Bombay during Diwali . This place has brought color and light to a street that was non-descript; now we have form and function ; I love the form and have to try out the function , and see how delicious it is

We were warmly welcomed and offered tea. We enjoyed a delicious meal of chicken noodles, and the portions were generous.

The 3.5 star Chinese restaurant rule only works if you know the star dishes and don’t care for the ambiance / service (though it was nice.) This place specializes in their clay pot rice (didn’t bother trying anything else). The quality of the rice, the crispy burnt rice and flavor of the meats were on point. You must also mix in the sweet soy sauce to get the ultimate umami flavor. I got the sparerib clay pot and added Chinese sausage. Hard to find this quality of a clay pot rice at this price point that doesn’t skimp on the meat.

Great food and big portions. San Francisco dining can be overly expensive, this was a breath of fresh air to see good dishes between 10-15$.

first time eating peking duck - an instant hit! the buns were amazing too. another highlight was the taishan fried noodle, i had to wrestle my way through to get the last bite! good service, chill atmosphere - usually open late and the owners are kind. will definitely be back for some more 🦆 and perhaps the popular clay pot rice!

The restaurant was full at lunch time today (Sunday). However I wonder if it may have been because a restaurant around the corner was closed. We were seated quickly since a party had just finished eating. I remember now that the host/server/busser didn’t really clean the tables before letting us sit down. She had her hands full having to serve the entire restaurant. She handed us the menus and we noticed that drinks weren’t on the menu so we didn’t order them. We were given a teapot which I like since I drink a lot of liquids as I eat. The portions were large; both of us didn’t finish our noodle soups. I was surprised that my wonton noodles were instant ramen and not egg noodles. I found a strand of hair when I was nearly done eating. I asked the server for the bill but either she didn’t hear me or she was just too busy. We had to get up from the table to go to the register and wait for her to come back to pay. To summarize, the food isn’t anything to come back for in particular. Also, if it’s busy, don’t expect much service.

We tried to like this place but everything fell short of expectations. If you are not familiar with the dishes, they could be passable but unfortunately this was quite different that we left as quickly as we came. I appreciated the cleanliness and quickness of the staff and restaurant though.

Be aware the final price includes 16% tips, plus the tips is after the tax. So it is more than 16%. You have to do your math if you wanted to pay different tips amount.

We ordered wanton soup and sausage spareribs clay pot. The wanton soup only has 10 very very tiny wanton with cabbage, no meat or seafood , a bit bland. The clay pot is tasteless. The waitress never checks on the table and still includes 16% tips in the bill. I am not recommend this place and never return.

Summary: don't bother. Ordered the mushroom and chicken clay pot rice. There were only two slices of mushroom and if I'm being generous, maybe a chicken neck worth of meat in the dish. The bones all fit in a small take out sauce container. Rice was undercooked but crispy. Considering the dreary atmosphere, price and abundance of other options nearby, I won't go back.

We usually eat noodle soup across the street but this time they were closed so give a shot at this place. And I really wish I didn't. I live in the neighborhood, I have lived in China few years for work. Just so tasteless.. like it doesn't tast like anything. I don't write reviews but I just had to write to save some people's time and money...

Just don't go here. I absolutely hate to say this, but this place has no reason for being. The McDonalds down the street serves better food than this place. And at least at McDonalds the staff really really cares about your dining experience (in comparison). Unlike this place. I do not like giving bad reviews, but I had to since this was by far the worst dining experience we've had in 30 years anywhere in the world. We had ordered a few dishes, including some of their 'specialty' pot dishes, but only their frozen Costco dumplings came close to being edible. Their speciality Pots were just absolute garbage: undercooked/raw rice with 6 pieces about 1/4 inch in size of meat on top. Why did we not complain you ask? Good question. For one, we were too flabber-ghasted as to how awful the food was. But the service was just as absent as any modicum of flavor or ingredients in the food that was, eventually (took like 45 minutes) served by a completely disinterested server (co-owner?!). We really didn't have much of a chance to complain. We lived in China for almost 5 years. I've been to Taishan. it's a lovely place, in spite of the fact it's a tourist trap. But even there you could not find food this bad. The citizens of Taishan would gather and come down to San Francisco and burn down this place to the ground, to erase this horrible insult to their local culture. All I can say is: DON'T GO HERE! Burger King is two stars higher than this place. Just don't

Waited a long time for defrosted dim sum, a minuscule amount of tasteless meat on badly cooked rice. No explanation on delay. They also forgot a dish.
