When 8 guys roll through Bishop CA in an RV where do you think they are going? They are going to Schat’s Roadhouse. And let me tell you, this place is The Schat!!!! Wings - very good, juicy and large Burgers - super tasty and thick Turkey sandwich - super good flavor Rueben - sauerkraut wash fresh not from a can Fries - beer battered and crispy The staff was super friendly and helpful and was actually not upset 8 guys came in with 20 minutes to closing. If you ever find yourself in Bishop CA you must stop at Aaron Schat’s Roadhouse.

Got the Walker burger. Its was delicious. Also they have a drink in the soda fountain called "double sweet soda." Also delicious. I have been waiting a while to go there and it was way better than I thought it would be!

Wonderful place to have lunch. I don't eat meat and asked for a Reuben sandwich without pastrami and a veggie patty on the side. Not only was it delicious but the chef chopped the patty and made it part of the sandwich. This was such a nice gesture and made my experience here even better. On top of it the restaurant is clean, staff is polite and friendly and the food came out quick. Highly recommended!

Garlic Parm fries with their Garlic Mayo dip = 🔥 I’d argue this is one of the best restaurants in town and price is more than reasonable for what you get. I’ve yet to eat something here I didn’t like. FYI they close on Wednesday. They also have Mammoth Brewery Beers on tap. (Yes they have Golden Trout!) Customer service is always on point too and they get your food out pretty quickly. I always look forward to stopping here for a bite to eat.

Recommended to me. Stopped by. Easy location right off the Main Street. Plenty of sitting inside and outside. Ordered the Walker Texas Ranger burger. Was made to order and you choose your level of rare or cooked. Added a side of fries. Burger was delicious. And fries was quite tasty. They have a house sauce that must be tried.

It’s a pay first then sit down kind of place. The wait to the register was about 10 minutes and worth every second! It’s our second time here since 2020 when we passed by on a road trip and it was great to be back l. The prime was tender and flavorful and still delicious the next day heated up in the hotel microwave the day 🤣🤣. The wings were just ok I would not order them again but i would come back and try more things hands down.

Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious. The ribeye was fantastic! Tasty, tender, cooked perfectly. The misters on the patio were wonderful. Loved that our dogs were welcome to join us outside. Definitely a must stop for a great meal!

This place is AMAZING. As a former line/traveling cook of 8 years, this place has it going on. Food and atmosphere is chill, lots of locals coming in to eat shows that it's also loved by the local community. Food and Service was top tier for sure. Wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the service was top notch. Burgers, ribs,, and beer battered french fries all got in my belly. Yes was a bit hungry after a big hike that day. Washed it all down with a beer or two 😊. Good selection of beer on tap. Finish the night with some soft served ice cream and live entertainment. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the burgers are a must if you're in. Bishop.

Delicious burgers and nice beer selection. A must try. We ordered the Shot Gun Burger and split it. Bad choice. I wanted one all for myself. LOL. We also ordered a couple of beers and an order of garlic parmesean fries. Yummy! The burger was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and juicy. They know how to make a burger! The beers were nice and cold. Refreshing. The Garlic Parmesean Fries good but maybe a bit too much garlic, a bit spicy even. But worth a try. We beat the lunch rush, as we were already eating when about 20 people started streaming in. The place got full quick so make sure you get there early. Definitely worth checking it out when you are in Bishop.

DO NOT ORDER your food from this place UNLESS you want to hate every other burger you had in your life!!! We had the INYO MOUTH BURGER! It was so juicy that with every bit I had to go for more napkins. I recommend adding the fries to your order since the saltiness of the fries goes REALLY WELL with the burger! The mixture of the special sauce and the juice from the burger was such a combination that you can only imagine until you actually have this burger and experience it yourself! I’m so sad that I live too far from this place and can’t come here more often. We also had a salad but it’s not even close to this burger! Definitely the best burger I had! The place has plenty of parking and also huge TV inside to watch games.

Great food and service. You order at the counter which sometimes can be a wait but the food comes out quickly. Great burgers and Parmesan fries are amazing. My only complaint is the lighting can be a bit darker in the main area and there are a few fixtures where it appears the lights don’t work. Hopefully they can get that fixed soon. Overall it’s a great place for food and good value considering everything else is going up.

Schat's Roadhouse is the best casual dining in Bishop. The burgers are always served hot and juicy with super fresh ingredients. Make sure you try dipping your fries in the Tessa Sauce, it's AMAZING!!!

A must stop. Order the cajon fries. The best I've ever tasted. Super friendly service and the sandwiches are second to none. Came in for dinner with friends. I ordered the rib eye steak, it was outstanding. Comes with baked potato, broccoli and wonderful garlic bread, very good. My friend ordered the ribs, came with two sides, he said they were very good, the meal was too much for one person, he took half of them home for another meal.

I got the walker texas ranger and its the best bbq sauce i ever had. 5 out of 5 the bugar was amazing. Also the baffalow wings and aloha chicken with sweet potato fries. Again i had to buy some bbq sauce to take home. Staff is amazing 10 out of 10

Such a great burger place. I would say it’s the best burger I’ve ever had! As an Asian, I’m not a big fan of burger, but I came to this place in two consecutive days (Only staying in Bishop for 3 days). Patty is really juicy. Buns are toasted with cheese, really tasty! Sauce selection is also great! Everything is so harmonic in the burgers. Also love the fries! First time having Garlic Parmesan fries, really unique flavor, definitely a thumb up. Absolutely amazing! My partner got the Rueben with potato salad, I got the shot gun burger (subbed for the impossible patty) with garlic parmesan fries. We both got a 25oz Epic IPA. The food and drinks came out quickly, and was served by very friendly staff! The restaurant was very clean, and had a cute atmosphere. We opted to eat outside on the patio and there was plenty of seating. They had misters and fans going, and there were dog bowls available for water, which I thought was all a nice touch. All of our food was absolutely amazing! My partner said it was the best Rueben he has ever had! My burger was so delicious, juicy, and full of flavor, definitely in the top 3 for best burger I’ve ever had. The garlic parmesan fries were SO FREAKIN GOOD, soft yet crispy, and doused in flavor. The portion sizes were better than I expected as well, they really jam packed our sandwich/burger! Great prices, quality food, and wonderful staff! We stopped here on our way home, and let me tell you that this will be a staple for us anytime we drive through town.

Took a trip to Bishop, CA and wanted to try something different. This was definitely something different then the usual burger you get in Southern California. The Burgers were juicy and flavorful and the sandwich was fresh and full of meat with awesome fries. I recommend trying this restaurant if you are passing through or visiting.

We stopped here for lunch on at the last minute because the local popular deli was slammed. The restaurant has an old west rustic feel. The food was amazing in the service equally as good! I have the Walker Texas Ranger burger with fries. The burger was anything, but typical it was juicy and flavorful and the fries were great. I also shared onion rings that were tasty as well.! Highly recommend. Parking was easy as they have a big parking lot. Will definitely consider again when I’m in the area..

Staying in Bishop for a few days and was looking for someplace I could get vegetarian and decided to try their Unburger. Had it without the bun, with fries and a garden salad. Service was quick, the place was clean and the food was great.

Came during lent Friday, so I had to get the Fish and Chips. Food was delicious, atmosphere was amazing. It looked like they were gonna have a live band, but I didn’t stay long enough for it.

Loved it! The burgers and fries are amazing. I ordered the jalapeno burger with parmesan garlic fries. The burgers had much less kick than I had hoped, but was delicious nonetheless. The fries were perfectly fried with a nice crispy shell 😋

Most folks don’t leave reviews unless something is exceptionally good, or bad. Thankfully I am leaving this review because of an excellent experience. I went in for dinner on a Friday night. Ordered the 8oz sirloin, baked potato, and salad. The steak was cooked exactly as I ordered, had a great crust, and the quality of the meat had to be choice or prime. The baked potato was as expected, and the salad was crisp and fresh. The service was good, and the restaurant appeared to be relatively clean for an active dining area, and more importantly to me I didn’t see any dust anywhere. I hope others have the same experience I had.

The food at this location consistently impresses. I love the hamburgers and fries. The brewed Ice tea is usually great also. The line to order can get a little long but it is hard to beat the quality of food served here. If your passing through Bishop and need a good burger this place is likely the best bet.

Coming from Los Angeles, only a 5hr drive, it kinda makes me wanna come back just for this. I got the Texas Ranger Burger: BOMB! Very juicy and full of flavor. Whoever doesn’t like this place is wrong. One of the best burgers I’ve had! The Inyo Mouth Burger was smooth and juicy with the pastrami. The Hot Shot Burger was so meaty with the extra pulled pork. And the beer batter fries on the side.. wooow! 1 side was good for both of us. The music was perfect for a restaurant like this.. and service was lovely. 15/10 for this burger joint!!

I like the vibe of this restaurant. It kinda has an older laid back feel, yet warm and inviting. The food here is great. Walk up to order, line moves pretty fast, and food is delivered to your table or ready for pick-up shortly after. They have live music often which is enjoyable when dining in.

This is a great family restaurant with a lively atmosphere. You order at the counter, find sitting, and enjoy. The line may appear long, but the service is great and quick. Menu has a variety of options, prices are reasonable but can quickly add up for large families. Drinks are not included. Would definitely recommend as a "must" when here.

Stopped in based on the reviews and was happy we did. Menus are at the front door and you make your selection as you approached the order window. Once your order is placed you take a seat in the open and spacious dining area I ordered the Shot Gun Burger, i loved the large patty protruding from the smaller than usual bun. I had to eat the meat around the edges before I could get to the bun. Burger was tasty and very juicy even when cooked well. The Danny Raymond was delicious, and the 2/2 sandwich was huge. Fries were crispy and the portions was large. The potato salad id July 4th worthy. We were there for dinner during the live music and it was great! Highly recommend!

Had an awesome experience at Aaron Schat’s Roadhouse. The building was big and had a great atmosphere. There happened to be an entertainer the night I was there so that was definitely an extra. The food was amazing, everything had a great and unique but also classic flavor. I enjoyed some of their house made soda. I would definitely return here and recommend anyone to visit this restaurant, especially if you’re traveling through looking for a special treat for a meal!

Dang this is a good palace. Good value and great staff. It’s an order at the counter sort of place and the food comes out really fast. I got the Walker Texas Ranger Burger with Parmesan Garlic Fries and wow, just wow. A little confused on how the restaurant was set up when we first walked in, but was able to finally figure it out. Great variety on the menu. Ordered the rib/chicken combo, the knuckle sandwich and a side of sweet potato fries. The bread on the sandwich was super soft and wonderful. Was able to enjoy every ingredient on the sandwich and…..it was huge!! Highly recommend it. The ribs were yummy as was the chicken. All the sides, potato salad, ranch beans and slaw were really good. Stopped in here during a camping trip and the food was just what I needed. The barbecue meats are amazing especially for a small town. I tried one of the salads and they really loaded it up with meat and cheese so that it was really enough to feed two people. I like the counter service set up which makes it easy to pay separately when you are in a group.

The jalapeños burger and fries were delicious... would give 5 star, but after visiting the bathroom well... you can see paper towels all over the floor in the man's bathroom that had the door open and the women's wasn't much better either... although the food is good it will be a while before I go back... hope the bathrooms receive more attention... like a lot more... it wasn't just one Customers fault but neglected bathrooms...

Decent burger. Fries are an add-on for $2.95. I got a bluecheese burger, not the best bluecheese burger i've had but it's decent. Burgers are not very big but i enjoy the convenience of this place, queue to order, sit with your number card and folks at aaron schat's will bring your order to you.

They only serve steak after 5pm so I don't know if I'd consider this a steakhouse/roadhouse. Also, they're closed on Wednesday. The food was good but they put TONS of lettuce on both of our burgers/sandwiches. So much that I made a separate salad with it. The parmasean garlic fries were good as well.

Ordered the Shot Gun burger with bacon added. I requested no Onion or Pickles. Well, while the burger was excellent the bacon was limp and it had plenty of onions and pickles. The fries were nice and crispy.

Go for the burgers, is what their known for. You get 1/3 lb and they ground their own meet. Personally I ordered the roast beef and I want entirely impressed. My boyfriend got the jalapeno burger and that was pretty delicious.

I had to give a four for the wait. They need more people taking orders as we had to stand in line for 30 minutes. That’s too long for people traveling through town and can be solved with better ordering system. Food was fabulous and we definitely needed a hand wipe after which is always a great sign of a juicy burger with great sauce. Their homemade bbq sauce should be bottled up and sold. It was delicious. Plus they have live music and which was awesome!

I'm not sure all the food is bad here, but do not order the Rueben. The corned beef was so rubbery the sandwich broke apart with each bite I tried to take. The onion rings were good, so the food gets two stars instead of one. The atmosphere was okay. Some cool pictures and decorations. But the floors were sticky in the bathroom. The employees were friendly at least. But I'm not in a hurry to go back. That Reuben left a bad memory I would like to forget.

This restaurant is one where you order, then sit down and your food is brought to you. There are no servers to call on if you need something. They want tips upfront when you pay. I ordered a turkey-bacon-avocado sandwich, not realizing all the other things I could have ordered, because the menus are located 5 feet from the register rather than 5 feet inside the door. My sandwich was very good. I ordered it toasted, it came greasy from being browned on the griddle. Had I known... The ribs I saw delivered to other tables, looked great but didn't know they were on the menu. Usually, when walking from parking lot to restaurant, you can smell the smoke of a great BBQ joint. (Think the place in Big Pine, CA, where you can smell it for 1/3 of a mile away.) Finally, as a solo eater, this style of restaurant, sometimes forces a single eater to pick a big table because that is all that is left. This later become awkward when a party of 4 or 6 then arrives looking for a table. What works during the week may not work during busy weekend times as tourists stop for a meal.

Decent food but the wait to order is 2-thumbs down bad. Takes an above average amount of time, standing in line to place food order. As there aren't many other options in Bishop, they have the market locked and can get away with poor service. If you're really hungry and don't want to wait, fond someplace else, like the bowling alley.

My group ordered the Into Mouth Burger and the Chicken Caesar Salad. The burger was initially good, but it unfortunately became greasy in my mouth and dish. The French fries were cooked well but overly salted. The atmosphere is a little dated, but I could definitely see this place hopping in the evening with the stage and live bands playing. One thing that really turned us off was the huge amount of flies in the eating area. And to make it worse, the worker was slapping his cleaning rag trying to kill them across tables and windows! It wasn't exactly the best experience while we were eating lunch. I would definitely come back and try some other stuff; the food looks really good. But the burger we had was far too greasy to try again.

The restaurant is cute, and they had live music on Friday night when we were there so it had a good vibe. You stand in line and place your order at the window, and then they give you a number, you find a table, and they bring you your food. The food was not great. I had the teriyaki burger and onion rings, and the onion rings were really greasy. Not my favorite, but not a bad option when you're in Bishop.

Ordered the 12 oz ribeye medium rare with backed potato and rice . I paid $54 for it. Definitely not worth it by far. It came out medium well, more on the well side. Wasn’t even a decent cut of meat. A steak from Dennys would be considered fine dining compared to the steak I completely over paid for. I do not recommend!

Beer battered fries were great: Shotgun Burger was okay; Dutch Apple Pie was all bad. The pie was slightly warm on the outside and cold in the middle -- it was gooey and not worth the wait. The server checked on the other tables regularly but skipped us over and over again. We had to get up and get our own to-go boxes etc. The picture is after I ate the crust and slid the apple off. Horrible, Horrible, just Horrible. I am sure the original owners served good food. They definitely had a good reputation. Not any more. The ribs were served cold and tough. My husband sent them back, only to be served warm tough ribs. Not to mention the salid was iceberg lettuce which holds the highest concentration of arsenic of all lettuce. They are just serving cheap food and not caring. We will be trying their bakery tomorrow . I hope they are better. Great bbq in Big Pine. The copper top bbq.

I got the ribs. Horrible. Super dry. The sides horrible and there was no alternative offered. My brother got the wings, horrible. Dry. We ate our horrible meals because we each spent $30 and we don’t like to complain in case the remedy is worse than the meal. Will not return. And there was no live music.

I visited yesterday. Had a barbecue chicken salad. Only finished 1/2. Went to obtain a box because you first pay for your meal. Return to my empty table. Salt and pepper shakers, Ketchup laying on my seat. I made a Complaint and said why are your salt and pepper shakers on a dirty seat that people sit on all day long. He said , This is what we always do. I’ve contacted the Health department to make a contact with them and tell them no it is not. The management needs to be retrained. I’ve stopped At their bakery since the 1960’s. Never again will I buy anything from them again.

I used to like this place, but it's not very good now. I ordered half a chicken, it wasn't half a chicken, most of the breast missing and cut into pieces. The worst thing was the coleslaw side stank. The cabbage was almost rotten. I left my food. Terrible
