Beautiful building, food and service was excellent.
Excellent place to stop on the trail for food and drinks
Great food and service. Will be returning

We had great service today and always!
Good food and service. Priced right. Would recommend to all if u in area.
Always a favorite snowmobiling destination! Sara and crew are the greatest!
Great food, reasonable prices and open everyday during snowmobile season. Hope for more snow this season!
This place is worth the drive. Great scenery, great service and very relaxing.
Had the Friday fish fry and riggies and sausage, food delicious and service excellent.
Great place and super friendly staff. Great snowmobile destination.
The food is pretty great! 10/10 will come again.
Loved, the atmosphere and the sandwiches we had,we're outstanding
Sorry they were closed staffing is such a issue anymore I'm sure it's a fine place when it's open
My guess is that if people are complaining about this place, then they are those chronic complainers whose every review is a complaint, usually with the exception of their very first review of whatever, which was glowing.
Great food. Not on "main street" but worth the drive.
Great place anyone who snowmobile in oldforge area knows this place..great food great people..
Awesome spot! Blackened prime rib sandwich was outstanding!
Love this place, the owners are awesome and great food.
Great stop for dinner and drinks. Right no. Snowmobile trail.
So under staff was only able to get a beer
One of the best Philly steak subs around. The large is 16 inches
We just love this place. What a great location on the snowmobile trail. We stop here for lunch on almost very trip. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good.
We had dinner on Sunday night crab night. It was super fresh and Amazing!! The drive is beautiful and the station is so cute with so much history. Loved it!
Great food and very well priced.
A historical restaurant in a peaceful town. The Sunday special stuffed turkey with mash potato was fantastic! One of the most tasty dishes I've ever had in the US. The turkey was so fresh that I thought it may be hunted by the hunter.
Awesome food and great people, a uniquely fine dining experience out in the sticks with a wide variety of options
Great spot! Cool historic building, great service and really good and fresh food. Definitely going back!
Had crab stuffed mushrooms they were delicious.. Chicken Parmesan and Turkey dinners were very yummy.. Excellent job on the drinks.
We love the staff and the food is always good. We look forward to visiting anytime we are in the area.
Really cool place on the snowmobile trail! Great ppl and food!
We go there every year, Everything is very good. The best is the Wiener schnitel. I hope they get the train ride from Thendara up and running. Then we could go every day.
Nice to find a great place for dinner while your on a trip. Will definitely go there again when in that area, thanks.
Great place to stop in and warm up while you're out on the snowmobile, they have a good Philly Cheese Steak and they make an AMAZING Apple Cider Hot Toddy!
This is one of the nicer stores in the area. It has recently expanded. Has nice jewelry, linens, furniture, lamps, T-shirts and more.
Fast friendly service. Food tasted home made, not like those other breakfast chains. Highly recommend
This place is epic!!! I love the food, the staff and the ambiance. I can’t wait to go back to the station!!
Best prime rib of my entire life! Shame I couldn't get up to there this year☹ but I'll be looking forward to my next visit!
Excellent dinner. Great food. Friendly, prompt service. Wonderful experience.
The owners are the nicest people! Great steak sandwiches you cant find anywhere else!
This place was a short drive from where my daughter and I were staying. We chose to dine on the porch as we weren’t dressed for the dining room. It was very cozy and comfortable. The staff were all super friendly. The food came out quick and was absolutely perfect. If we’re in this neck of the woods again, I’d definitely choose Big Moose Station for dinner. Thank you!
We stopped in on a Friday afternoon, wasn't to busy there. Service was friendly an fast, nice atmosphere as well. Menu has a wide variety to choose from. The old time look is nice to see,as this was a train stop for the Railroad. The Adirondacks Railroad still passes this station. You will find this a good stop while visiting this area. They also host snowmobiling in the winter time.
Sometimes you get to your vacation destination and look at what food you brought, and immediately check for nearby restaurants haha. Very happy we found Big Moose Station for takeout! Great chicken sandwiches, topped with crisp, fresh vegetables. Not a peep out of the kids other than "I wish all French fries tasted like these!" Win win. Very cool place that we will return to, dining in this time.
An awesome stop for drivers and snowmobilers alike, the service is unmatched and the food is everything I could've wanted. They helped us put out the fire in the parking lot, and then they extinguished our fiery hunger.
We have been stopping here while snowmobiling in the area for quite a few years. Have never had a bad experience. Food is to die for--margarieta salmon is out of this world. This year we arrived for dinner on the early side, but were served anyway. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. The Station is very nicely restored and enjoy looking at the old photos. Take say enough good times about this restaurant!!!
Awesome visit to this restaurant! We had a fabulous, classic, old school dining experience and we loved it! We had to drive about 20-25 minutes from our hotel in Old Forge, near Enchanted Forest and it was totally worth it! We felt like it was in the middle of nowhere but it was such a peaceful and relaxing drive and the scenery was beautiful. The restaurant is an old train station! The decor and feel was nice. Very clean and proper. The service and food were amazing! Our waitress was CallaLilly and she was very attentive, friendly and knowledgable. The other waitress there that we also interacted with a little bit was very friendly and knowledgable also! The turkey dinner Sunday special was delicious! Others with us also got the strip steak and the chicken Parmesan! And we got jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks! Plus carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberry shortcake for dessert! Everything was homemade and delicious! Very very glad we did some research and took the drive up the mountain to find this restaurant! Highly recommend!
The food and service was great. I just wish the training lunch did not have the same food every time so I can continue to go back if the food was different. I would love to go back there for their dinner it's just a matter of getting there or finding somebody with a car to get there to eat.
My family and I were at Big Moose Station 3 weeks ago and a couple walked in without masks and expected to be seated and served without them. They stated that they drove “all this way” and could they just “pull their shirts up over their mouth and nose.” Sara was so professional and kindly stated that they couldn’t be seated without masks because not only is it the law but also for the safety of others. Apparently this entitled couple felt like they didn’t have to worry about masks up here in the ADK. As a patron, I applaud Sara for her determination with keeping everyone safe during this pandemic. As a bonus, our meals were AMAZING and Bridgid was wonderful, very attentive and accommodating. Prime rib was so tender and the crab legs were huge and meaty. Definitely worth the drive up!!
Cute restaurant in an old train station. Very quaint, owner is the chef. He was also bartender and waiter while we wete there (in between lunch and dinner) Philly cheesesteak 1/2 sandwich was huge, french fries had an excellent seasoning on them. My hubs isnt a big french fry eater, he ate half of mine. Wished we hit dinner time to try prime rib or duck a la'orange. Fish fry special was only $15! We will definitely return!
The building was originally a train station, and it still has that look in the dining room. Enjoyed the food. But if you GPS tries to send you on Independence Rd, don't do it! It is an unpaved logging road.
My uncle and I stopped in at Big Moose Station after a hike. We were greeted by the owner who was wearing a mask. He was very kind and complied with all of the Covid requirements: wear your mask til you are seated, can’t order a drink without food, all employees had masks on. It was overall a great experience and we highly recommend making a stop at the Big Moose Station!
Good food are waitress was awesome. We made a special trip to see our waitress on our snowmobiles. She helped us with our map. It was our first time there and .we are from Pennsylvania.
Great staff!! Mattie, Robert, Emma and Sara were awesome!!
stopped in here today on the snowmobile. I had a buffalo pulled pork sandwich. It was excellent, great service, friendly staff, and a cool historic location.
This was an excellent place to eat off the snowmobile trail. It had the best burgers and fries. The chicken fingers were juicy and some food can be prepared for those that need a gluten-free option. The food is reasonably priced as well. However, all the restaurants in the area all have a credit card fee, so I recommend bringing extra cash if you don't want to pay it. This is a must try if you are in the area.
We recently dined here on a Saturday evening for the prime rib special. Two of us ordered the prime rib. It was excellent. Two of us ordered the rack of lamb. It was absolutely amazing. The best rack of lamb I’ve ever had. Do not judge the restaurant by the outside. It is definitely worth the trip
Love this spot. Excellent lunch. Always great to see Rick and Sara. Fantastic French onion soup and Greek salad with grilled chicken.
We had a wonderful dinner. We arrived later than we expected to. But only waited 30 minutes for a table. Food was delicious. I had the Rib Eye, my wife had the PHILLY STEAK SANDWICH. Our daughter had the veal parm. Everything was delicious.
Stopped here with my dad to have a beer and fries (elite combo). We chatted with the bartender Sarah, who is so cool and such a gem. We hung out for an hour or two, and just admired the antiques on the wall such at the train wheel mold which was used years ago to make molds for the steel wheels on the trains tracks. Loved this place because it reveals some of the history of the region :))
We (three ladies) came in after hiking Sunday afternoon and had a great meal. The staff was super friendly, the food delious and fresh. Thank you!! We'll definitely go back when in the area.
As for the atmosphere, it's a very comfortable place that kept the original charm of a train station. The food is quite tasty with lots of attention paid to flavor. We enjoy the complete package including the friendly staff. It's on our list of places to eat when we are in the area.
Stopped in for a quick drink and a snack. The Woodchuck cider was crisp and not too sweet, just as the bartender said it would be, and a small salad with peppercorn dressing that was really quite a nice little work of art and absolutely delicious. Wonderful atmosphere, food, and service. Can't wait to get back for a full meal.
A little out of the way restaurant you don't want to miss. The staff is very friendly and the menu is large. Lamb, pork, Prime rib, steak, fish, chicken, pasta..... I had a difficult time choosing! The salads were great as was the bread. The entrees delicious. (BTW the ladies room was very clean.)
Food is absolutely delicious. Between the chicken Marsala and the Weinerschnitzel we couldn’t decide which was better on last night’s meal. The sides are always cooked to perfection (I’m thinking homemade mashed potatoes and veggies) Rick is an amazing chef and Sarah is a great manager. Christian is an upbeat and friendly bartender. Just a great warm and happy atmosphere for us all the way around (especially in the bar😉) If there’s any restaurant that could get us out of camp and off Big Moose lake it’s The Station. Highly recommend
We been here a couple times we usually don’t come up here too often.
Food is good and old station is fun to visit.
Really good food, a special dinner for our group. Very personable people
Good food, decent pricing & beautiful, historic building on the snowmobile trail system.
Make it a destination stop for lunch while your sledding. A bowl of chili and a beer will warm you up!
Great price. Nice stop along the trail, so I highly recommend it.
Very good food.super nice owners
Nice place, very clean and orderly! Great food. Wait staff needs a little training.
Very good food and nice atmosphere. I try to get over here at least once a season while snowmobiling
Was here a couple weeks ago and had a turkey dinner and I thought it was really good. Turkey was moist. Good gravy. Good mash potatoes. A always love the setting. Love the look and feel of the main dining room (although we sat on the side porch). Looking forward to another visit.
Very long wait to be seated... More than an hour! Make sure you make reservations!!! Food was pretty good with room for improvement. Cook was rude to his staff several times while we waited for our meal.
Ambiance - 5/5 Place is as rustic Adirondack as it gets. An old train station with lots of rural charm. Service - 4/5 Was a bit slow to seat, but it looked like they were really short staffed. Server was attentive and friendly, we enjoyed her conversation. Food - 4/5 I had the ribeye and my wife had the salmon. Ribeye was juicy and tender, a nice cut and decent weight. Salmon was a bit on the dry side. Only downside is that fries don't come with the meals as a starch. Overall this joint was awesome and we will certainly be back next year.
Better than average food and unique ambiance - medium priced dinner in Town of Webb area.
The service and peanut butter pie was good. Very expensive and food was not good.
Luncheon at Big Moose Station purchased with Scenic Adirondack train trip from Thendara train station. We were told the meal was a buffet. It was chicken, pasta, tossed salad, NO rolls, NO bread. Some people were fortunate enough to get a Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich but there weren't enough to go around. No additional plates for a second trip to buffet. Dessert, brownies, were delivered to each table on one plate for table but no plates for each person at the table. The menu should be given and yes, it was served buffet style, but not a real "buffet".
This was our first try at this local establishment and unfortunately our last. We were greeted at the door and added our name to list and was told it would be 25 mins but we can wait at the bar. We sat at the bar for 20 min with no acknowledgement from anyone to place a drink order but mean while the waitress/bartender was handing out refills to others already sitting there. The most sad thing about this was where we were sitting the chef which I would only assume is the owner had a unobstructed view of all of us the whole time trying to put in a drink order while patiently waiting for a table. I understand its hard to find staff but unfortunately the young lady seemed to go out of her way not to even acknowledge our presence and even seem to turn her back to us evertime she wandered to our end of the bar. With a party of 9 I'm sure the food and drink bill would have been well over $600. Its just sad to see a business fumble so bad especially when the owner is physically on site to manage.
Drove 25 minutes out of the way to eat get there realized we forgot masks and couldn't use our shirts as face covering. Guess they didn't need my 100$ dinner. Don't forget your masks if your driving that far in the middle of no where.
We have been coming here for several years. The pasta portions were not worth the amount of money they cost. Some of our dishes were cold. We were asked if we wanted drinks while we waited for our table, we got 1 soda each and cashed our bill out before we got to the table. We were told if we wanted more to drink we would have had to pay again. We never got our salads until after our meals were brought out. We didn’t think it was very polite to blame that on the cook. One table of our large party did not receive bread until we asked for it. The larger table of our party did not receive enough bread for each guest. Overall we were very disappointed. This has always been one of our favorites places to eat. We brought three new people with us and we bragged about the food and service. Needless to say, we were embarrassed. They were out of lamb chops, ribs, fried chicken, and chicken and biscuits. This was at 5:30. It was a very off night.
Horrible experience. Got there at 4:45pm. They gave us a lunch menu. We ate burgers. We finished at 5:10pm. The people next to us order the prime rib. Which we came here for but they didn’t have….at 4:45pm. After they say you came in early. We don’t serve til 5pm. Had you told us we would have waited. Needless to say they told us to leave and never come back. Bartender, owner, the cook, the other owner and the lunch cook all scream at us to leave and never come back!!!! My response to the owners response. The one who told me get out and never come back!!!!! Your unprofessional response just proved my review is 100% accurate. Take my constructive criticism as help. Welcome to Big Moose!! Will you be eating during your visit? Great, we are currently on the lunch menu but if you’re looking for dinner we start serving in 20 minutes at 5pm if you’d like to wait? Sure, can we see both menus and decide? I wonder if we came in at 4:55pm we would still be offered the lunch menu?
