Big Moose Station Restaurant is a popular spot known for its delicious food, friendly staff (especially Sarah), and charming atmosphere in an old train station. Prime rib and rack of lamb are highly recommended. Some experienced slow service or menu availability issues.

Great staff!! Mattie, Robert, Emma and Sara were awesome!!
stopped in here today on the snowmobile. I had a buffalo pulled pork sandwich. It was excellent, great service, friendly staff, and a cool historic location.
This was an excellent place to eat off the snowmobile trail. It had the best burgers and fries. The chicken fingers were juicy and some food can be prepared for those that need a gluten-free option. The food is reasonably priced as well. However, all the restaurants in the area all have a credit card fee, so I recommend bringing extra cash if you don't want to pay it. This is a must try if you are in the area.
We recently dined here on a Saturday evening for the prime rib special. Two of us ordered the prime rib. It was excellent. Two of us ordered the rack of lamb. It was absolutely amazing. The best rack of lamb I’ve ever had. Do not judge the restaurant by the outside. It is definitely worth the trip
Love this spot. Excellent lunch. Always great to see Rick and Sara. Fantastic French onion soup and Greek salad with grilled chicken.
We had a wonderful dinner. We arrived later than we expected to. But only waited 30 minutes for a table. Food was delicious. I had the Rib Eye, my wife had the PHILLY STEAK SANDWICH. Our daughter had the veal parm. Everything was delicious.
Stopped here with my dad to have a beer and fries (elite combo). We chatted with the bartender Sarah, who is so cool and such a gem. We hung out for an hour or two, and just admired the antiques on the wall such at the train wheel mold which was used years ago to make molds for the steel wheels on the trains tracks. Loved this place because it reveals some of the history of the region :))
We (three ladies) came in after hiking Sunday afternoon and had a great meal. The staff was super friendly, the food delious and fresh. Thank you!! We'll definitely go back when in the area.
As for the atmosphere, it's a very comfortable place that kept the original charm of a train station. The food is quite tasty with lots of attention paid to flavor. We enjoy the complete package including the friendly staff. It's on our list of places to eat when we are in the area.
Stopped in for a quick drink and a snack. The Woodchuck cider was crisp and not too sweet, just as the bartender said it would be, and a small salad with peppercorn dressing that was really quite a nice little work of art and absolutely delicious. Wonderful atmosphere, food, and service. Can't wait to get back for a full meal.
A little out of the way restaurant you don't want to miss. The staff is very friendly and the menu is large. Lamb, pork, Prime rib, steak, fish, chicken, pasta..... I had a difficult time choosing! The salads were great as was the bread. The entrees delicious. (BTW the ladies room was very clean.)
Food is absolutely delicious. Between the chicken Marsala and the Weinerschnitzel we couldn’t decide which was better on last night’s meal. The sides are always cooked to perfection (I’m thinking homemade mashed potatoes and veggies) Rick is an amazing chef and Sarah is a great manager. Christian is an upbeat and friendly bartender. Just a great warm and happy atmosphere for us all the way around (especially in the bar😉) If there’s any restaurant that could get us out of camp and off Big Moose lake it’s The Station. Highly recommend
Ambiance - 5/5 Place is as rustic Adirondack as it gets. An old train station with lots of rural charm. Service - 4/5 Was a bit slow to seat, but it looked like they were really short staffed. Server was attentive and friendly, we enjoyed her conversation. Food - 4/5 I had the ribeye and my wife had the salmon. Ribeye was juicy and tender, a nice cut and decent weight. Salmon was a bit on the dry side. Only downside is that fries don't come with the meals as a starch. Overall this joint was awesome and we will certainly be back next year.
This was our first try at this local establishment and unfortunately our last. We were greeted at the door and added our name to list and was told it would be 25 mins but we can wait at the bar. We sat at the bar for 20 min with no acknowledgement from anyone to place a drink order but mean while the waitress/bartender was handing out refills to others already sitting there. The most sad thing about this was where we were sitting the chef which I would only assume is the owner had a unobstructed view of all of us the whole time trying to put in a drink order while patiently waiting for a table. I understand its hard to find staff but unfortunately the young lady seemed to go out of her way not to even acknowledge our presence and even seem to turn her back to us evertime she wandered to our end of the bar. With a party of 9 I'm sure the food and drink bill would have been well over $600. Its just sad to see a business fumble so bad especially when the owner is physically on site to manage.
We have been coming here for several years. The pasta portions were not worth the amount of money they cost. Some of our dishes were cold. We were asked if we wanted drinks while we waited for our table, we got 1 soda each and cashed our bill out before we got to the table. We were told if we wanted more to drink we would have had to pay again. We never got our salads until after our meals were brought out. We didn’t think it was very polite to blame that on the cook. One table of our large party did not receive bread until we asked for it. The larger table of our party did not receive enough bread for each guest. Overall we were very disappointed. This has always been one of our favorites places to eat. We brought three new people with us and we bragged about the food and service. Needless to say, we were embarrassed. They were out of lamb chops, ribs, fried chicken, and chicken and biscuits. This was at 5:30. It was a very off night.
Horrible experience. Got there at 4:45pm. They gave us a lunch menu. We ate burgers. We finished at 5:10pm. The people next to us order the prime rib. Which we came here for but they didn’t have….at 4:45pm. After they say you came in early. We don’t serve til 5pm. Had you told us we would have waited. Needless to say they told us to leave and never come back. Bartender, owner, the cook, the other owner and the lunch cook all scream at us to leave and never come back!!!! My response to the owners response. The one who told me get out and never come back!!!!! Your unprofessional response just proved my review is 100% accurate. Take my constructive criticism as help. Welcome to Big Moose!! Will you be eating during your visit? Great, we are currently on the lunch menu but if you’re looking for dinner we start serving in 20 minutes at 5pm if you’d like to wait? Sure, can we see both menus and decide? I wonder if we came in at 4:55pm we would still be offered the lunch menu?
