Nice, romantic, outdoor bar right on 6th st. Drinks are as good as the atmosphere.
A place to start the night when meeting friends! Our go to place especially during the colder nights you sit under those cozy heaters
Cool spot with a patio. Great music and food.
Really cute bar nice happy hour I want to try the nachos from next door
Great drinks, service and and staff! Also had the best Rueben sandwich ever!
Definitely a low KEY place on West 6th to grab a drink. Pretty quiet and great beer selection.
The food truck "little beast sliders" had some awesome chicken nugs. Order the hot honey.
Laid back, good happy hr prices, food truck on site, solid draft beer selection.
When you've gotten to know all the bartenders. I think it is safe to say it deserves a 5 lone star rating.
Love this bar! Great comedy night! The bartender is a babe!
This is a dive bar for people too good for dive bars. Excellent music and atmosphere
Fast service, friendly bar staff, cool setting. This place is quality :)
It is still in this location while others have moved because it is doing something right. Fast service and plenty of room.
This is a great spot to sit and relax with a few friends over some drinks without worrying too much about the craziness of being on 6th
Great outdoor bar and local beer selection. Had excellent bartender. Very helpful. Had us taste lots of beers to make sure we had what we were looking for. Thanks Jen!
Great bar to start off the night. Prices are lower than average compared to other West 6th bars. Also music is low, so you can actually talk!
Music, service, and the vibe was dope, and most importantly our favorite bartender Tatiana always makes the best drinks!!
One of the best local bars in dtown. Excellent service, fair price for drinks, and very good happy hour deals.
Really good chill place. We came to visit from Houston and even though it was corona time the staff was awesome, drinks were good., dood nearby
Awesome local bar. Great seating and open views to 6th and rio grande. Large projector to watch sports on game day.
It's a Tuesday and the service was great, the bands were great, and it was livelier than the other places on 6th that we stopped by.
I love the location. Its open and right on the corner of west 6th. They have great margarita specials and the bartenders are cool people.
This place is my go-to bar when i venture downtown. a huge patio which is seasonally and successfully cooled or heated and great bartenters!
Good daily specials, friendly bar staff. Nice patio and all sports available to watch on the tvs
Loved this place! Great staff and drinks! The only thing I would suggest is a better parking sitch!
Awesome patio bar on west 6th. Amazing atmosphere and great drinks.
The atmosphere here is awsome. I love the way that the place was lit up and decorated. I would definitely reccomend it to a friend
Great chill spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, good drinks, and friendly staff.
Chill bar without the rest of the mostly annoying West 6th crowd. Great spot for your happy hour needs.
Stopped by there and have a couple of drinks me and my wife before we went to meet up with some friends. It's been awhile since I've been to West 6th Street nice patio good drinks happy hour was good. Definitely going to try to make it back
I stopped in by myself for a Monday night game and ran into a nice sized Philly crowd. It was a good time, especially because we won! Definitely worth checking out. Go Eagles! #birdgang
First of all Matt...JP makes the best Bloody Mary in town. Second of all, sorry you were intimidated to say something to the big bad former marine, keyboard cowboy. Third of all, relax and enjoy the day...it’s 80 degrees and sunny out. It’s disappointing that the drink wasn’t made to your palate’s exact specifications. Sounds like you’d be more comfortable down the street. ✌🏼
Chilled outdoors bar with an everlasting bonfire (yes you read that right. There's an actual bonfire all the time). The crowd here tends to be regulars or other bartenders on weekdays and the west 6th party crowd on weekends. They have a small selection of beers on tap (including bud light lol). The bartenders are very friendly, drinks are cheap and in general this is my goto bar if I'm tired/exhausted from West 6th craziness to relax a little bit before heading out again.
This place is awesome! The bartenders are extremely friendly and the beer selection is awesome! Great patio bar to hang out at any time of the day!
We've been here a few times based on it's proximity to three Pokestops in Pokemon Go. The staff is always friendly, last time the firepit was very inviting.
wow I've never reviewed this place and I've been a regular for about a decade. Hello everyone :) This is my favorite place downtown to relax and get a drink. Its outdoors and full of great people.
Lots of fun and close to plenty of other great businesses. Good prices and friendly staff. The sliders over here are great as well. Definitely stop by while in the area!
Whoever their DJ is on Saturday nights is the best I’ve heard….. and I’ve heard a lot. Vibes were immaculate all night
Outstanding time here! Came after kayaking and staff was friendly and fast. Drinks were made by Tommy and he did a great job, one of the best Moscow mules I've had! Will be coming back for sure next time I'm in Austin.
Bar area is nice and open and has comfortable seating and lots of TV screens for the sports fans.
Bar tenders are nice and the open air is nice too. Clientele usually sucks once the sun goes down.
Love the fire pit, but the vibe has gone downhill recently. Still, not too expensive and a nice cozy space
One of my favorite places to meet up with friends on West 6th. Great staff good service
Pretty chill atmosphere. Happy hour margaritas are $3.75!!
It's cool place to chill and watch people walk by when it's not 100 degrees outside.
Decent beer selection, good outdoor after work crowd
Nothing but patio to hang out at, decent prices, love that they give you coozies!
Not bad. Very typical w 6th bar. Easy to overlook and nothing really stands out. A little to upscale to be a dive, but too downscale to be much else.
Met some friends here for happy hour. I ordered a margarita and was pleastantly suprised when the bartender said "$3" ! Very laid backed outdoor atomsphere.
Nice live music and an outdoor venue. Great for a nice day orwarm night. Drinks were average.
Love the fire place. It's my favorite bar on W 6th (due to the fireplace). Bar tenders are sometimes rude.
I've only been here once during SXSW. But I had a bunch of fun. I'd totally go back if I went out more.
Very chill. Going here for sunday funday or to watch a game is fun. They usually have a band playing outside.
I don't know what's changed in the past couple of years but Key Bar used to be absolutely dead all the time even when all the other bars on 6th street were packed and busy! Music is fun and lively and it's a super fun spot now.
I was here once, and the staff was very friendly and very accomodating. Drinks were reasonably priced, and beyond that- who am I to complain about who I'm standing next to? It's not like anyone is forcing each other to be friends. When some dude talked to me that I thought was "douchey" I smiled, made a comment as politely as I could and walked away. I have a feeling that if one were to go during happy hour, the drinks would be even more affordable and the people a little more appealing.
One of the best happy hours (all day Monday-Tuesday, and till 9:00 pm Wednesday-Friday) I have found in downtown Austin. Love the outdoor vibe they have going on but it is not fun in the colder months. They don't serve food but the drinks are great. Good chill vibe to have a drink with some friends.
This place probably has one of the best margaritas in Austin, not all syrupy sweet and straight out of a machine like other places. You can also buy shakers, which make 3 drinks. And they have a nice extended happy hour that makes the normal margs only $3! We like to have group socials in their back room, which you're able to reserve for free; there's even a bar back there. Maybe it's a little lucky that this place is hard to find- It gets crowded like any other bar but still feels a bit like a hidden gem to me!
Every single time I'm in Austin I stop by this bar. It's super chill, great drinks and a more mature crowd then the bars at 6th street. Love sitting at their patio enjoying a drink plus is dog friendly
Very friendly/helpful bartender with a good selection of beers. Menu was out of date.. asked for two different beers on the beer list and was told that they didn't have them. But I was helped to pick out one I wanted, given tastes of a few.
My host bro in Buda is a Washington State University Alumni, with the rest of us University of Washington Alumni. Yet we set out to find a Cougar-friendly bar, take that however you want, for the game on Saturday, October 12th. The Key Bar was advertised as WSU host bar. So ... we rolled up there to support the other Washington University. The bar had a separate attached room for us which was nice for everyone as I assumed every other patron was a Texas fan of some sort. The service was pleasant. I drank Shiner all damn day... when in Texas, ya know. The $5 chili cheese hotdog was sufficient to keep me from avoiding a complete liquid diet. The bartenders were super chill, efficient, and friendly - props to them.
West 6th is the place where bar culture goes you die, but Key Bar keeps it alive. I especially enjoy the fire pit when it's cold out. Nowhere on West 6th has a cheap pour, but at least Key has a generous one with a great bar staff.
Good place for night time drinking. Gets way too hot when the sun is beating in the summer. Great in the fall next to its fire pit with a nice mixed drink in hand.
We came here while on my friends bach party and had a great time. It did get EXTREMLY packed on Fridays and Saturdays (a given but it was hard to stand without getting hit by people walking by). The bouncers were pretty good, very attentive. The bathrooms were dirty (also a given since it was packed). The bussers were very good at picking up trash on the floor people threw down, etc. The DJ......I do not know his name but this he was the BEST DJ I have ever heard at a bar. He blended songs perfectly and the transitions were seamless. He knew how to read the room and change up the vibe if no-one was feeling it. Drinks were standard pricing $8 for a beer, etc. We defiantly had a blast here and came back the next day for a few hours.
This place was a pleasant surprise. We were heading to a different bar and ended going here instead because it caught our eye. I am only giving them four stars because I did not try their cocktails and tried the local beers on tap. The bar tender was really awesome and gave us tips on where to eat as we were visiting from out of town.
Cool place to people watch thanks to the large patio situated on a busy corner. Especially love going here on Halloween. Gotta try the popsicle drinks! I like the fact they have cider. Bartenders are friendly. Great place to go without young college kids around.
I really really like this place. It has the energy of the younger patrons and is totally welcoming to an old hippie chick like me. I'll be back when I can stay longer to hang out and indulge in some people watching from their covered deck. The staff is awesome; and the drinks are superb.
The key bar was alright. The bar tender screw up my order a couple of times.
Hard to find place, didn't see a sign. But they had a few beers on tap I liked
It's a decent bar, but it gets too crowded and frattastic on weekends.
Music is loud, but this is definitely a place to see and be seen. Everyone who has just come out of college or into their 30s are in here. Lots to look at, but music is really loud. Good luck remember his/her name!
Fun outdoor bar that has been here for years. They have a fun fire pit too that's nice in the evenings.
A little crowded during SXSW, but usually a good place to meet friends. Great music acts during SX.
The prices were pretty good for happy hour drinks. However, I ordered a margarita and it tasted if you poured a handle of tequila into the ocean and then scooped out water and put it in a cup. Could hardly taste the tequila and the margarita "mix" was non-existent. I'll be back, but won't be getting a margarita.
After only drinking here on one occasion during a pub crawl, I can say that it's over due that I stop in and give it another go. Our group were the only patrons there, so we did get great service and it's a nice and clean little happy-hour/late night spot.
I was a tad disappointed that the bartenders did not know what a Tom Colins is...for being strictly a bar. The space is nice, the staff is friendly, but every time I ordered I had to say the recipe of a standard drink... Biggest plus, they have an incredibly clean restroom
A place to stop by on west 6th. Their signature "popsicle" cocktails is a must try. They serve variety of cocktails with a popsicle stirrer! It's so much fun on a hot summer day. They also have a camp-style fire place outside where it's great for the fall. It's just a cute place where you can chat with your friends without the loud music blaring in the background.
One of my favorite bars in Austin, very much outdoor, cool giant fire pit, great people watching since it is right on the corner of W 6th, crazy popsicle drinks are tasty too. Check out the street view on Google maps to actually "walk around" the interior.
This is one of the douchiest bars I've been to. Men talking about how big their penises are, and how they managed to convince Girl X to boink them the night before. Couple of my friends and I went on a photo scavenger hunt a few weeks ago, and one photo we had to get was "having a drink with a douche bag". I suggested we go here, and the first guy we spotted was the epitome of douche baggery.
Place looked okay, but they don’t take legal state issued licenses from outside Texas. Our group was all 24 to 32 years old so that was a little disappointing
Djs at night are absolutely horrid. Have no sense of music rythem or how to mix properly. This dude tonight sounds like a newbie. Jumping from song to song, genre to genre, super slow to super fast with 0 mixing abilities. Sounds like a tiktok dj that was ordered off temu. Made the experience horrible. Had to leave after a bit because the music was that bad
Horrible service, unprofessional check-ins and rude attitude. It was horrible, don’t even bother coming here. You will lose your hype just by lining up. Good luck to you!
Good patio, quick snacks, poor bartender. Ordered a Bloody Mary from J.P. which, besides from taking 20 minutes to make on a slow Sunday, was solid ice all the way from the bottom of the glass to top. I took one sip from the straw and it went below half way. I explained the situation and asked him if he wouldn't mind remaking it with a lot less ice. He said sure. He then insisted I pay for the remade drink. So I did and left both at the bar untouched. Needless to say myself and my group of people I came with will not be returning to be ripped off again
I have never once written a bad review on here, but this one took the cake. One of our party had gum at the bottom of his glass. We were not being rude, but wanted them to know so it wouldn't happen to the next guest. A female bartender with blond curly hair (I believe her name was Amanda or Mandy) said, "I don't care. What do you want me to do about it?" I looked at her blankly and said, "Did you just say that?" She said, "Yes." This went back and forth a few times before she walked away after telling me she was the manager. Another bartender offered to yell at her, but honestly by that point, I didn't care. He offered a drink, but I didn't want that, I just wanted to let them know. The problem is, if some of their staff doesn't care about such things, why would customers want to visit this establishment? None of us were asking for handouts, we were doing a nice thing. I suggest if this bar wants to stay in business, they should have a conversation with the staff members about behavior toward it's customers. I live in Austin and entertain a large number of out of town guests, and this bar lost our business.
Would love to give a half star or even a 0 since the bartender charged me 3x in the amount of $30 for what I ordered. I assumed some places leave your tab open, which I didn’t, to make sure you have sufficient funds. However, they swiped my card and even tipped themselves with each transaction! Tried contacting them multiple way via social media and the number they have on don’t work and us always giving the busy signal.
I was inside of key bar on March 1st with my friends during the time of the mass shooting that occurred at Buford’s. My friends and I ran to the back glass room with other groups to hide around 1:57, and by 2AM we were also told by multiple security working at the bar that we had to leave because “they were closed” while there was an active shooter on the street. If there were guests inside until 2:20AM it was not lucky enough to be any of us. We are lucky to be safe and alive even though we had to find our own safety after being kicked out. Very disappointed in how this was handled speaking for at least the group I was with.
extremely disappointed with the way this establishment handled the shooting that happened on march 1st, the shooting started at 1:58am and they had the bouncers KICK us out of the bar at 2, while there was an active shooter out on the street. When we begged the bouncer to let us stay a couple minutes longer he said “sorry we’re closed”. This place obviously doesn’t care for the wellbeing of their customers and i couldn’t be more disgusted.
I was in line like everyone else on 11/02/25 and the plus sized African American door man said he didnt like my look and put his hands on me to throw me out of line . I gave him zero provocation and he told me my " white ass wasn't allowed in". I have been to this bar many times and never been treated this horribly.
It was a cool place, but it gets one star because they literally change the total amount on the receipt that you sign when you tab out. I was there on Friday night, it was the start of my night so I was pretty sober when ordering my two rounds of drinks for my friends. My total amount were not even values so I know for sure I didn’t spend an exact $33.00 and $50.00 for my drinks, because I remember writing down the cent values on the bill. However when I checked my bank statement I see these numbers meaning they upped my tab after I signed it without my permission… which I’m pretty sure is illegal.
I’d give this place 0 stars if I could!!! I used the men’s bathroom because the girl’s line was long and the bartender got SO mad and was banging on the stall door for me to open up the door while I was on the toilet before kicking me out. Absolute pervert.
Only non dog friendly bar I can find on west 6th. Not very clear about their dog policy either, drove down there from Domain area for nothing.
The bar was empty/dead, me and my friend group of 10 people were on an 80s themed bar crawl, all dressed up in bright neon, we went to the bar and started dancing outside when there was no one really dancing and hardly any people, then after 20-30 minutes more and more people kept coming in joining us and the bar got packed. Every 5 minutes dif people were coming in to dance with us complimenting our outfits and asking what we were doing. We had locked our bikes up on the fence outside of the bar, there are NO signs saying not to do that anywhere. While dancing we noticed a lady going up and taking pictures of every single bike, we asked her why she was taking those pictures, she lied and said she was “starting her own bike business.” 5 minutes later we were all asked to move our bikes and that we can’t lock them on the sidewalk/fence. They were not in anyone’s way, we were all by them the entire time, and like I said there was zero signage saying we couldn’t. Every other bar we visited on the crawl (9 other spots) allowed us to lock our bikes up on their fences. It felt like the bar was empty and people kept coming in because we were the first and only group dancing. They were fine with us being there when it was empty, but after we got there and got the party started once it was packed suddenly it wasn’t okay anymore? Also who was that weirdo lady taking the pics of our bikes? We absolutely will never go back and do not recommend in the slightest. Trash atmosphere, trash customer service, and overall weird behavior between that weird lady and the bouncers.
the bartender tipped themself more then i had put down, me and my friends when out to the key bar on the weekend, and we where all paying for each other drinks. My bill was $49 and i gave the a $1 tip to make it $50. the bartender gave himself a $10 tip to make it $59. when my friend had gotten drinks she had gotten a $39 bill, my friend had put a $10, to make it $49. but the bartender put a$30 tip for himself, to make that a $69 bill in total. We had other friends who where putting bigger tips. so he didnt mess with there stuff and put bigger tips. Im just hear to say if you go here make sure to watch your bank accnt. and get a receipt as soon as i tip the tip he took the bill and never gave me my receipt and i didnt think anything of it. so that was on me. i did nt have a bad time there the issue i have is putting a bigger tip on something that wasnt supposed to be big. (in total me and my friends had spend over $100 on drinks, and only two of my friends didnt drink because they wanted to make sure we where okay.)
Nice place, but unfortunately some of the worst cocktails. Couldn't make multiple drinks from the menu because there weren't basic ingredients, which was fine. But ordered two margaritas and one was syrupy sweet while the other was salt water. Tried other peoples' cocktails and they weren't great either.
