Great food, sashimi tastes pretty convincing to the real thing. Good service. Nice ambiance. Would come here again !

Absolutely love this place, it's my favorite vegan sushi. The Crispy rice is perfection and all the baked rolls are divine!! I got the tempura shrimp roll the other day and it tasted and smells so real, I thought I was being punked!!!

I’m a world traveler and have been vegan for 15 years and this is one of the best places I’ve eaten at. Wanted dessert but had no more tummy space! Ordered three dishes and ate it all. 😋

Amazing vegan sushi!!! Visiting here every few weeks and making my way through the menu! Highly recommend the California tempura rolls!! Those are my favorite so far!

This place ROCKS! I found it on Google maps while traveling for work and since my colleague is vegetarian, we thought we would give it a try and I’m so glad we did. The staff were so sweet and so kind. They answered our questions with a smile. I had the match latte and my colleague had a lemonade. Both were refreshing and hers even came with free refills. The sushi rolls themselves were absolutely delicious. The flavors were on-point and the sushi was just as good, if not better, than others I’ve had with real fish! If I were in the area I would absolutely return. 10/10 recommend.

First of all, to the person who only gave Ma-Kin two stars even though they are “good 99% of time” you really need to check your math. That comes across as cruel to lower their average when you said yourself they are 99% good. The only bad thing about this place is how it has ruined other vegan restaurants for my spouse and I. We don’t eat out a lot, and when we do we used to like to change it up, variety is the spice of life. Then we discovered Ma-Kin Sushi and now we are on that Malange spice and can’t move on. Neither of us has been able to convince the other to try some place else on our date nights. Everything here is good. Literally. We have been working our way across the menu and it’s all dope. I leave every time ready to be taken to the next life I’m so full and satisfied. The spicy miso soup is the best miso soup in LA. The pork buns are the best buns I’ve ever had. The rolls are so good that if your carnivore friend says they can tell a difference they prefer the “real thing” then you can tell them you prefer “real friends” and not liars because the food at Ma-Kim is the best. Last time we had the Spicy Miso Mushroom Soup, Pork Buns (so good I almost forgot to take a picture), steamed gyoza (not pictured), volcano roll, California roll, and spicy tempura shrimp roll. Go here and never need to decide where to eat out again. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Wonderful, fully vegan Japanese cuisine. I wanted to try a lot of different parts of the menu so we shared the cucumber sunomono, gyoza (steamed), spicy miso mushroom soup, chicken teriyaki bowl, the sexy lady roll, and the matcha cheesecake. Just about everything was amazing and I'm so glad I discovered this place. The hot green tea was also really nice. A few small complaints, to be a bit nitpicky - the cucumber salad wasn't very flavorful, the gyoza fell apart really easily, and the veg in the teriyaki bowl was pretty oversteamed. Still a wonderful experience overall tho

Cute and quant! Great food! They use mushrooms in a lot of their rolls and it makes for a really good umami flavor. It’s crazy because you honestly forget you’re not eating fish. They really don’t skimp on the flavor! Usually after eating sushi I feel way too full and have a slight stomach ache. I always chopped it up to the rice just expanding or the gluten. But, when I left Makin, I had no stomach ache and felt great! They serve natural sodas as well. The inside is small and clean. The service was fast and personable. Definitely try it out. You’ll be surprised how good it is!

Amazing vegan sushi restaurant with great service, drinks and food. If you’re not vegan, I will admit that the sashimi does not taste like fish. That being said, it’s still delicious and worth a try.

Best plant-based sushi in the area (we traveled from Simi Valley to get it)! I apologize for my dark and somewhat blurry photos. We ordered for pick up and ate in the car on the way home so the lighting wasn't the best. Here's what my husband and I ordered: Veg tempura cut roll Spicy tuna hand roll (not pictured) Valencia California Tempura roll Rock shrimp tempura roll We liked all of them! But our favorite hands down was the Valencia roll. It wasn't too spicy and the sauces on top were perfect. Although there were only 6 rolls in the to-go box, they were big! It took me two bites to eat them. And although they were $19, I'd get them again! My next favorite was the California Tempura. It's such a classic sushi roll I used to get before we went vegan and this had all the flavors I remember! And this roll is totally affordable. I'll order this one again too! If you want something fun, go for the rock shrimp. It was an experience eating it and our favorite bites were when we piled a few pieces of rock shrimp on each roll. I'd get this again if we were eating in the restaurant. But trying to lift this to your mouth while riding in a car is challenging lol. My kids would love the rock shrimp though. I didn't eat the spicy tuna hand roll or the veg tempura cut roll, but my husband did and loved them both. And the prices were good for those too. We have 3 kids but didn't order for them because we wanted to try it out for ourselves first. If you're ordering for kids, go for the California tempura. It's a pretty classic roll and the size is small enough for kids to eat. :) I'd love to return and dine in the restaurant. There's lots more on the menu that I'd like to try. When I do, I'll update my pics and review! Cheers to Ma-Kin though for offering some delicious vegan sushi for those of us in Ventura County!

How could it be less than 5 stars! The atmosphere and environment is so inviting. The staff are all so helpful and friendly, very good at conversation and polite. The food...some of the best sushi ever! Every roll was so freaking good and delicious. My wife and I over ate, no regrets!

Friendly atmosphere, rolls are very tasty and popular, sexy lady was mind blowing with wasabi sauce, rice wine was great, soup was good , 👍🏻 over all highly recommended

Such a wonderful restaurant! I had to be careful how much I ordered, because it was easy to want to try everything on the menu. But everything I tried was great, and the staff were so nice! Even gave me a free tote bag as I checked out. Will be back when in the area again.

Hands down the best vegan sushi. I have taken a ton of non vegans here and they absolutely love it too. Favorite roll is the Jerry run home. The waiters are the best, kind, patient but efficient and very happy. Me and my family come here for all special occasions and it’s my kids favorite spot!

The entire menu is actually vegan. It is convincing enough for a meat eater and a surprising delight for any vegan looking for something truly delicious. I’m from Chicago and was visiting LA. This was well-worth the journey outside of the city.

They use a separate fryer, which is what I need. I am a huge sushi lover, but my brother is vegan. This combines the best of both worlds! I cannot tell that it is vegan sushi. 🍣 Great dive place!

Not having animals in my food is wonderful and to have a whole vegan sushi menu is really amazing. They also have a soy paper option in case someone isn’t crazy about the fishy taste of seaweed! These things don’t exist where I live. I have come to realize I live in the wrong state. 🤣 I get to visit, at least. The chicken plates we got were pretty good; service was friendly.

The atmosphere is nice and the staff was kind as well. The menu has clearly marked allergen warning as well, something helpful for nut/gluten intolerant diners. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone in the area!

Took my non vegan son and he said if he didnt know it wasn't fish he wouldn't have known. Everything tasted do good and looked really pretty.

The "salmon skin' (tempura seaweed) salad was especially divine. The rainbow roll was really big and a great way to try a little of everything. The green tea was perfect. Great service, too. Overall, a true delight.

I got the fried vegetable tempura and it didn't taste like it was fried in 10-year-old oil... It actually tasted fresh! The produce was fresh and delicious. I could go on and on about how good this food was! The orange chicken was fluffy and a good ratio of breading to "meat." To the owners: you're doing a great job! Thank you for providing this delicious food!

The food is unbelievable! Everything I've tried has been so good! Definitely get the crispy rice spicy tuna starter and you cant go wrong with the baked rolls. The service is friendly, and hit and miss for wait times on food but the restaurant is usually quite busy. Thank god for vegan sushi done right! I tell everyone about this place.

Excellent vegan sushi and Japanese vegan faire. I started off with the miso soup which is ALWAYS a must as well as tempura, gyoza & sake. I am definitely a fan of the tempura. The real hi-light of this place is of course, the sushi.. there are so many options!! All of the ones we selected were a hit, unfortunately I have no idea what any of them were called. No worries.. next time I’ll just order something different. Service was a little lacking the night I came in. I waited around to get the check for over 20 mins. I eventually resigned myself and had to ask someone else for the bill. I didn’t get my desert either.

As good vegan is difficult to find, Ma-Kin delivered a splendid meal. I usually avoid get any imitation item, but over at Ma-Kin I had to try the sushi, bun buns, katsu curry, and the sweet egg cut roll. I can see for people who are used to heavy flavors, the meal could be slight underwhelming as there are delicate flavors. My guest needed bolder flavors as for me, I was enjoying it. We started with a agedashi tofu, which was elegant. And then came out the bun bun, and it was amazing. I could literally eat a whole tray of these-the soft bun, the crispy protein, and the spicy mayo sauce. I think they may have forgotten the cucumber in it, but it was still good. For the sushi we did get the hell Fire Roll, which wasn't as spicy as we were expecting. The sweet egg cut roll was delicate and with the remaining dashi, it was amazing. Then we had the king mushroom cut roll which was nice. The chicken katsu curry had heavy curry seasoning. Being from Southern Asia, we was reminding me of a curried samosa. Note that I haven't ever tried real katsu curry. As we were walking out the other tables orange chicken caught my eye and honestly, there will be a next time. The staff was nice and the seating was comfortable. Also, there is ample parking.

That vegan place is absolutely worth it, as a non vegan person I like to come to this place with my friends and to be amazed every time how it’s so close with texture and flavor to a non-vegan sushi. The fried gyoza is absolutely delicious, the sushi is great and all the in between.
