Everything about this place was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting, with a stunning view that made the experience even better. The staff were so friendly and attentive — they truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. From start to finish, it was an amazing dining experience. I can’t wait to come back — highly recommend Lol-Ha Restaurant!
The scene is lovely to just hang out with friends/family and munch on some good eats after swimming with the turtles. The portion sizes were really large, great for sharing, but we did not know that and ordered way more than we could eat. We really liked most of what we ordered. The ribs had a flavor I didn't love, but my kids enjoyed them and ate them up fine. None of us loved the pear gorgonzola pizza, but it was okay. I guess it would be great if you really like an extra strong dose of blue cheese, but I was expecting a more subtle blend of the flavors. The gorgonzola was quite ripe and really took over to the point of being too much. I think I would have liked it a lot better with feta. But at least I did like that the menu had some variety. The waiter was friendly, and I guess the service was a little slow as others have commented, but we weren't in a hurry, so it actually felt nice to just chill and not feel like the waiter was pushing us to hurry up and leave (like some restaurants make you feel). So it was great for relaxing.
Good geolocalisation; the only public restaurant access in that zone. Price is normal. Food taste & and service are good. Portion is normal. Direct Beachfront view with access to beach. In this zone beach Accès are difficult to find so need to access to restaurants or services to access the beach. People in the road in Akumal entrance was very annoying, they jumped in front of car for stop car and ask questions juste for sell them services.
Lol-Ha Restaurant is a hidden gem in Akumal! The location is absolutely stunning, right by the beach with breathtaking ocean views. The food is fresh, flavorful, and authentically Mexican, with a great variety of options to choose from. From delicious seafood to traditional dishes, everything is prepared with high-quality ingredients. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a laid-back meal by the water. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Lol-Ha is a must-visit in Akumal!
A few days ago, we visited this restaurant, and I have to say that for a restaurant located right on the oceanfront—and essentially the only dining option on this beach—it truly deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Firstly, the service was incredibly fast, and the staff were very polite. What really surprised me was that, unlike many higher-end restaurants in Tulum with steep price tags where staff often don’t speak English, here the staff were fluent in English, making communication effortless. We ordered a grilled shrimp salad, a kid’s burger for my daughter, beef fajitas for me, and my wife had shrimp tacos wrapped in bacon as well as beef tacos. Every dish was top-notch, absolutely delicious. In terms of price, I think they could charge much more for the quality they offer—it feels a bit underrated. The only downside was the long wait for the bill. After we asked for it, we waited about 25 minutes, sitting at an empty table before I finally had to get up and go to the cashier myself to settle the check. While it wasn’t a major issue, it’s something worth noting. Overall, though, it was a fantastic experience.
I'm so glad I found this spot. I sat here and watched my wife snorkel. I enjoyed me a ice cold Coca-Cola and a SMILE like Mean Joe Green. I ordered some beef empanadas, and they were so good I should have placed a second order to as well. It was a win-win for me. The wife got to snorkeling, and I had a great lunch.
We ate here several times during our recent stay in Akumal. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the food we tried was delicious, and they had the best cocktails. It was so convenient to be able to rent a locker and use their showers/restrooms for beach access. Facilities were very clean. Best way to access Akumal bay for snorkeling without tour.
Had a few meals here. Food and service was consistently very good. Prices are higher compared to similar restaurants within walking distance but not on the beach.

3 star food, 4 star service, and 5 star atmosphere. Ordered chicken flautas, vegetarian fajitas, and horchata. Only knock on service was that requests for no cheese and no sour cream weren’t honored. Large portions—I was particularly positively surprised with my horchata. Veggies in my fajitas could have been sliced thinner and grilled longer to be less crunchy and tortillas weren’t hot. But you can’t beat the view and convenience if you don’t want to leave the beach!
Can’t go wrong with guac! The portion size was generous, but considering we only got that, the coconut shrimp, and some bottled ice tea, the meal was quite pricey. Understandable as most beachfront restaurants are typically beyond the average price. Service was relaxed, but we did have to call down waiters to order, pay etc. Nice atmosphere on a sunny day, and it has a cool local art shop tagged onto it
Beach side view with a very nice breeze coming through which helps you stay cool. Very shaded. Restrooms were very clean. Waiters were very attentive and the food came out somewhat fast. I ordered a Philly cheese steak. It came with fries and a lemonade. The food was fresh however the food wasnt the greatest. The sandwich lacked flavor. They did serve it with beef broth to dip but it still lacked a depth of flavor. Wife ordered shrimp cocktail. She enjoyed it.
Our server was very attentive and provided excellent service. We started out with drinks. My son had the Jamaica margarita, I had the Akumal Bay Splash, and my husband had a Corona. The Akumal Bay Splash was good, but the Jamaica margarita had an odd taste. I just don't think the hibiscus flavor mixed well with tequila. For dinner, I had the al pastor tacos, my son had the Cochinita Pibil sandwich, and my husband had the Chilaquiles (muy bien!!!). Since it was "Happy Hour", we tried a couple more drinks...I had the margarita Patron and my son had a shot of the Don Julio 70. All of my cocktails tasted great, but it didn't pack much of a "punch"...probably because they only put 2oz of liquor into each cocktail. The waterfront views here are AMAZING! I was a little overwhelmed by all of the tourists from USA and Canada at the restaurant for Happy Hour, but I guess that's expected in a popular tourist location. We will definitely be back to Lol-Ha before our time in Akumal is over.🍹🍍🌮
Visited April 2024 - Good beach side restaurant serving a mix of popular Mexican food and other more typical western style food. The food is tasty and cooked very well, the fish and beef burgers are big and filling and then chicken wings are a definite winner. The prices are a bit high for this type of food, but being on a very popular beach and very touristy, it is to be expected. The service was friendly but a bit slow at times and hard to get someone's attention, but overall very good service. I would recommend this place if you're looking for an easy place to relax with good food and drink without any stress.
Stop here after snorkeling like a lot of people and glad we did. Food was great for lunch and very well priced considering the location. Staff polite and welcoming and was a good place to relax for couple of hours while we awaited are transport back to resort. Would definitely return. Best part is the views and location.
Three of us had a delicious late breakfast here. We reserved a table spot when we arrived for 200 pesos each. We went for a long beach walk and returned to eat. It wasn’t crowded, so it wasn’t necessary to reserve . Oh well, we applied the 600 pesos to our bill. Our waiter was professional and attentive. We’d reorder all of these fishes, they were that good.
Pedí cochinita y si me gustó.
The turtles have made this town a lot of money. You can not access the beach on your own for free anymore, locked up. Option 1, pay 140 pesos at the northern gate. Option 2, eat something here for at least 200 pesos per person and you’re good to go. If you snorkel first and eat later they like you to pay 200/person first which will be later deducted from your food bill. Food itself, wafels were huge and 7/10. Fruit was 8/10, yogurt was a tiny tiny cup. Snorkelling was bad if you expect to see reef and fish. If you want to see a turtle you can, just have to stay in the first 20-30mtr before the buoys. After the buoys there are hundreds of people in groups of up to 12 chasing turtles with a ‘guide’. And the guides friends harass you on the beach.
The view is sooooo lovely I almost didn't mind the mediocre food. The palm trees, the water, the chill vibe, it looked like paradise. So many boats and "orange bobbers" (snorkelers lol) to watch while we ate. To find this place, turn right at the OXXO to get "free" parking. You pay 200 pesos a person to be applied to to your food bill. You must pay for either food or the deposit at the restaurant when you arrive. Yes they hunted us down to make us pay as we were not ready to eat yet. Swim first? Pay a deposit. Eat first? Buy food, no deposit needed. We were told we could order our food, swim and then eat when it was ready but we couldn't leave our belongings at the table after we ate... maybe if we kept ordering drinks... I don't know. As a vegetarian we don't often find too many options, but these guys had a number to choose from. I was super excited and was really looking forward to lunch!! I ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas and husband had the Vegan burger. Fajitas get a 5/10. Half the serving of veggies was actually over grilled plantain. I thought, hmmm, that is interesting and I was excited to try the combo of veggies, plantain and even pineappple... but the plantain was simply a mushy addition to my fajitas. I left all of it off to the side. Husband pulled out 7 very thin strips of peppers hoping they were not as overcooked as the zucchini and carrots... they were. The guac, rice and the beans were great. And the 2 tortilla chips that came as "garnish" were light and crispy. Husband ordered the vegan burger. Basically it was quinoa, made very mushy, with chickpeas shaped in a round patty with grill marks. It was not a burger other than they put it on a bun with lettuce and tomato. It was a quinoa mash at the most. He REALLY enjoyed the fries so. He gave his meal a 5/10. It was a good serving size so it made him happy. Luis was a wonderful server. He was patient with my Spanish and even helped me with a couple of words. We went once, we won't do it again. Maybe the other food options would be better I really had hopes for a good fajita in a mexican restaurant.
It's all about the view obviously. We stopped here after our snorkeling tour for some snacks and drinks, but it was still breakfast time. Decided to grab a couple of dishes anyways. The food was okay, not very good, not very bad. We had coffee, chocolate milk, fried eggs (had the photo but deleted by mistake), deluxe pancakes (didn't feel very deluxe - they were dense and not fluffy), Charlene's Benedict (the kids loved it - this was the only item that was good here). There were plenty of coffee refills available. The service was slow which is kinda understandable as this was the only place open in the morning. All in all, very okayish place.
What makes this place is its location. When you're overlooking the beach and having a few drinks, you're going to enjoy it to some degree. The drinks were fine and the only thing I'd ever order from here, however they are over priced. I would stay away from the food. We ordered some cheese quesadillas, which were very bland. The ribs tasted like some precooked frozen food that was reheated. But that was my mistake, I should never have ordered ribs in Mexico. The staff while polite were not friendly and they were slow. Really, just go for the drinks and view.
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!!! They tell you if you eat dinner at the restaurant you then get to snorkel with the turtles…. LIE you have to pay even more to swim with the turtles. This place is scam city and absolutely a money grab. Food wasn’t even worth it. Would much rather be back in playa del Carmen. This place is Tulum is absolutely not worth it.
