Very upscale lovely steak and seafood restaurant. The omakase offering is a variety of their signature and most sort after menu items. They are not small portions by any means, all meticulously crafted by the chef as a beautiful way to explore their menu. Everything from A5+ Wagyu to lobster tail and a dessert selection. I won't tell too much as to give away the experience of being in the chef hands - but I can say they are good hands to be in. Thankyou for this special meal on our 20th wedding anniversary.
Contemporary, but excellent. I've been to dozens of omakases, but this one was super unique, easily in my top 3. Besides sashimi, nigiri, and the usual hot stuff, they had a huge lobster tail, wagyu, and an amazing dessert platter. I was so stuffed I had to take 20% of it home. Definitely recommend this unique experience.
It’s been over 5 yrs that I ‘ve been coming to Roka akor and I have to say they kept a great consistency with the food . Not once I felt a lack of quality or flavor. As for the service it always great.special shout out to our last visit, nothing but a warm welcome from our waiter & team.
Love this place. The Omakase is excellent and very accommodating to everyone’s preference. We had sushi and the A5 Wagu. Very well presented and explained. The staff was also great (thanks Arthur!). The venue is also very nice inside. Love the wood paneling and the unique vertical charcoal grill and kitchen you can sea from your seat. Love watching all the food being prepared.
Great ambiance, great drinks and spectacular food. Every dish is rich in flavor leaving me eager to try more. They have 2 separate dining areas, upper level being bright and perfect for families with the lower level having their bar with dim lighting and plenty of seating; if you are interested in their Happy Hour then you must dine downstairs as it is not applicable to the upstairs dining room. Depending on when you go, there can be long wait times but overall food still seemed to come out fairly quickly after ordering. Of my times of dining, I do prefer getting multiple small dishes and sharing to really take advantage and enjoy more of the menu. Personal favorites of mine will be any Lychee cocktail of theirs, the dessert platter to endulge in a variety of sweets and their 6oz Wagyu Beef with Bone Marrow. My boyfriend and I will now make any excuse to come as it has climbed the list of one of our favorite spots in the city. Parking in the area is very limited, alot extra time for it.
Outstanding service and amazing modern robatayaki style japanese food. shouts out caesar on the grill - your charcoal grilled presentation was amazing and so tasty ! nate — sushi was amazing - fish temperature was on point, the shari was delectable tanner - thank you for the hospitality, kindness and laughters and lastly Jeff — our server , you were truly on point the whole night from beginning till end. Much appreciated team Roka .. ill definitely be back . @Agohiza on IG :)
Absolutely an amazing experience. Andrew was our server and he was great. His knowledge and helpfulness was great and made our night that much better . A5 Wagyu , uni and uni on bluefin as well as spotted prawns with uni and caviar. Bone marrow and all. Absolutely an amazing experience. Would recommend it to anyone . I’ve never bought a Japanese A5 steak before . I finally did it and it melted in my mouth . Worth it especially as Christmas gift to myself .
Pros: the food was well prepared and promptly delivered. We sat in the downstairs area that was giving speakeasy vibes and I really enjoyed it. If you are sensitive to sound though, you may not like it during prime time because when it fills up, it is very loud in there. I didn’t mind it, but I know some people like a more peaceful surrounding in which case the upstairs would’ve probably been better. As you can see from the photos, we had a good variety of food and I particularly like my dessert to come out with my supper and they delivered on that request properly. The coffee machine was broken, which was a disappointment so I ended up having green tea with my dessert, but was still enjoyable. The crispy Brussels were perfect, and the dessert was the perfect amount of rich and flavorful. I do believe the dessert was a bit overpriced, but it was a work dinner that a client paid for so I can’t complain too much. Cons: nothing significant. Our server was great and even got us a complementary hot plate to try. We only got delayed slightly with my tea, but it didn’t ruin the experience.
Roka Akor is truly one of my favorite restaurants. I’ve always loved Japanese cuisine, and this place is definitely among the best I’ve ever been to. Everything here is prepared with such care and creativity — from their perfectly grilled steaks to the sweet and smoky corn, and of course, their incredible desserts. Every dish is beautifully presented, which makes dining here not just a meal but an experience. I come to Roka Akor quite often, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, the service is attentive, and the food is consistently outstanding. Whether you’re visiting for a casual dinner or a special occasion, it’s the perfect spot. Without a doubt, I give Roka Akor a full five stars. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine and appreciates top-quality dining.
Roka Akor absolutely delivers when it comes to food and atmosphere. The sushi was fresh, creative, and beautifully presented—easily some of the best I’ve had. The entire menu felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors were spot on. You can tell the chefs here really know what they’re doing. We ordered multiple appetizers and entrees to share as well as all the desserts. I wouldn't choose any dessert again as they were pretty mediocre The ambiance is also top-tier. Sleek, modern, and upscale, but still warm and comfortable. It's the kind of place that feels special without being stuffy. Add to that an excellent spirits list with rare whiskies, great sake options, and inventive cocktails—it’s a dream for anyone who appreciates a good drink with their meal. Only downside? The timing between courses was off. The brought our food to soon, making our business party of 6 feel overly rushed which threw off the rhythm of the evening. And unfortunately, the restroom was in poor shape—not what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. All in all, Roku Akor is still 100% worth a visit for the food and vibe alone. Just hoping they tighten up service timing and take better care of the facilities next time. If they do, it’s easily a 5-star spot!
The food is amazing! We dropped by without an appointment on a Friday night and they were able to get us 4 seated in the bar & lounge area downstairs. They do have a main floor as soon as you enter which is large and roomy, but I’m really glad we got seated in the bar area. Totally different vibe - cool, dark interiors, with a very intimate feel. Love the decor. Service was on point. Cocktails were okay, but the sake was incredible! For appetisers we tried the beef kimchi dumplings (so good!), beet and burrata salad (delicious) and eggplant tempura (must try!). All the three rolls were fantastic but my favorite was the dragon roll. I’d highly recommend. We tried the cod which was good, but not something I’d get against. The presentation of the dish was beautiful. One dish I would definitely recommend is the mushroom and rice hot pot - we all loved it! Simple and delicious. Overall just an awesome experience
I went here Saturday for a birthday dinner. The staff all around was EXCEPTIONAL. The host was super pleasant and made sure we had a cute table at a booth. She also took pictures of me and my date. The server recommended the most incredible dishes and was really pleasant. The food was tasty and fresh. The ambience was really nice also. The staff really went above and beyond to make the birthday special. I can’t wait to return for the yummy cuisine!
Stunning grilled meats and fish. The black cod was melt in your mouth, with slightly charred sweet ends. Wagyu beef was fatty with a fragrant oily mouthfeel that was excellent. All the sushi dishes were great, and service was very accommodating to provide the right amount of pieces to fit the number of diners on the table.
pleasant atmosphere, attentive servers that are easy to get the attention of, and good food. our reservation was for 8pm and the server kindly informed us that the kitchen closed at 9 so ordering any extra food before then was acceptable. we first ordered the sashimi platter, dry aged ribeye, wagyu tartare, fresh oysters, and bone marrow. around halfway through our meal we also ordered the corn, more oysters, and a bowl of rice. the staff were very accomodating when we asked for plain rice around 9pm, didnt expect them to accept that order but they managed to fulfill it. one issue we had was how long it took for the corn, dry aged rib eye, and bone marrow to arrive to our table. the sashimi, tartare, and oysters were quick, but the other three took much longer and didnt arrive until the 44 minute mark of the hour. otherwise, amazing service. the oysters and bone marrow were our favorites, everything else was okay. the wasabi was textured and different from every other place we have dined at on the east and qest coast! truly wonder how roka akor prepares the wasabi. the corn was good but what they dont tell you is that its corn on the cob halved. it's a little messy and personally i think cutting them lengthwise into quarters or thinner would ensure for a less messy experience for the customer so that customers can still use their chopsticks for the corn on the cob.
this place is fun! i came for a birthday dinner and got the omakase menu. the dishes are good, but the fish is not excellent. the best dish (which was exceptional!!) was the black cod. the staff was wonderful and extremely accommodating of dietary restrictions. the presentations were also stunning!
*BEWARE WHEN USING CREDIT CARDS FOR RESERVATION* I dined here February 13 with my wife, the food was great, service was not. Our drink didnt come until after our second entree was delivered. Worst of all i found that i was charged 100.00 seperately from my dinner bill. I waited several days to see if i would be refunded on my credit card, i was not. I reached out to the restaurant and the assistant manager told me it was a no show fee because we booked through opentable (50$ fee per person for missing reservation) after confirming that i was infact there she said she would let the acounting department know and get back to me. I asked about a week later for a status update, she said she was gonna check on it and let me know. Its now been 3 weeks to the day, i paid the credit card bill, i have not been refunded, and this restaurant stole $100 from me. I understand mistakes get made, If this was addressed the first day i brought it to the restraunts attention i would be on here giving praise to them for taking care of the issue. But 3weeks later and im disgusted that this restaurant stole my money and has made no clear effort to give it back. My next step is getting the Better Buisness Bureau involved.
