Great donuts and very friendly staff

The best donuts in the Bay Area! It might just seem like a humble shop, but their quality really is unmatched. I especially love their blueberry, which is the best of any place I’ve ever tried. And the family has been so friendly and nice to us for years and years. I can heartily recommend going here, even if you have to drive for a half hour like I did lol

Hands down the best donuts in the area! We've tried everything around, from Walnut Creek to Danville to Lafayette, nothing even compares. The texture of these donuts are amazing and just melt in your mouth. Pair them with some coffee and it's a match made in heaven. I go at least once a weekend and get a whole bunch. They're always best the first day of course, but they're also great later days especially if you heat them up a little. The owners are so sweet and it feels like such a family environment. Highly highly recommend!

I love this place so much and have been coming here since forever. I have such fun memories of when I was little and my parents letting me come to school late so I could grab a donut!! :) The people are so sweet and the donuts are so addicting & heavenlyyyy!! Highly recommend!!

Great job of carrying on the tradition of the previous owners! The family who bought the shop are so sweet, and after a couple of visits, they remembered what we like! Their donuts are delicious, and they added some new tastes, like the maple with bacon.. yum!! Plenty of filling in their maple bars also, to my partner’s delight! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Welcome to Alamo💖💖

I just ate the best donut of my life here and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same person again. This place doesn’t need fancy toppings to be good. That glazed donut was the freshest and softest thing I’ve ever eaten

I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. 16 years later it’s still my favorite donut shop and by far the best donuts i’ve ever had. I’ve literally had dreams about this place. Every time i come to town this is a mandatory stop. i love this place with my whole heart. i’m getting emotional writing this. this place slaps!

Hands down the BEST donuts around. I’ve been coming here since they opened. I moved away nearly 20 years and still make it a point to stop in for a few donuts when I come back to Alamo to visit. The custard filled chocolate bar is my favorite!

I have to agree with others, with the new owners this quality went down BUT it’s still decent or good even. I just wish the previous owners had handed them their recipe.

I don’t like to give average reviews… but I totally agree with the most recent reviewer’s disappointment. I absolutely loved this place as “Great Donuts”, but the new ownership’s donuts are unbelievably forgettable. Apparently the old owners retired. Which is wonderful news for them.. but I beg you to please come back and teach the new owners how to make your fluffy donuts 🍩 🙏🏻.

Great donuts. Bagels are very chewy. Ordered soup. Was served cold. Attendant tried to reheat via microwave, no luck. Took it home and reheated it. I'll stick to donuts which are very good.

When this was great donuts it was the best donut chain in the east bay. Now that they have changed ownership to Dainty Donuts, the quality and taste of the donuts have gone down hill while the prices have increased. If you’re expecting the same donut quality as great donuts be prepared to be disappointed.

New owners took over and this place has changed completely and definitely not for the better. Donuts are not as light and fluffy as they used to be and the quality has decreased yet the prices have increased. If you expect the same quality and hospitality as the old Great Donuts, prepare to be disappointed
