Great Hong Kong local 燒味 experience, hot tea on cold day, quick service, broccoli and beef slice stir fry was on point with soft onion, very homey and cosy for the belly. Highly recommended, don't let the rating fool you 😀

My experience here wasn’t bad. I read the reviews and this looks like a place that must be skipped. But I think they made some great food for me and it was fresh. They did take like 15 minutes to make it but I really liked it. I liked their fried rice, it’s probably the best I have ever had. Tips: they don’t take cards nor do they speak english. I just grabbed a menu and pointed out the things I wanted. Would recommend their fried rice 👌🏼 Btw, I got my stuff to go and it was still hot after almost two hours of being packed. I will be going again.

Super friendly English speaking staff and awesome food. My family and I have been getting roast pork and duck from here for years and it never disappoints! The roast duck is wonderfully tender and fatty with delicious skin. I always get it with some ginger and soy sauce. Pro tip: order with rice during the lunch special for a perfect meal on a budget. The same can be said about the roast pork which has the crispiest skin I’ve had from Chinatown. Ming Kee Kitchen is a gem amongst the many other restaurants in Chinatown. Come here if you want delicious and affordable duck and pork to take home or dine in. Don’t forget dessert with the many bakeries and boba shops nearby!

You cannot come here and expect Michelin style service. This is a old school local restaurant in Chinatown and is a good spot for a quick lunch or affordable dinner. I am a millennial but I frequent this restaurant because it is important to me to keep these local restaurants open for the benefit of the community. Their lunch specials are $8.50 everyday and there is a huge selection of dishes you can choose from. You can get walnut shrimp for dinner for around $20 whereas every other restaurant in the neighborhood charges $30 now.

Ming Kee Kitchen is a casual old school Chinatown restaurant. interior is well-maintained, but maintains a gritty feel. roast meats (pork belly, duck, roast pig, etc) over rice are handled at the order counter where the meats are on display. beyond the order counter is a bunch of tables for in-restaurant dining. it’s very much a value casual restaurant when you’re in the mood for familiar Chinese dishes. was in the mood for veggies and ordered the eggplant in garlic sauce over rice for takeout. my food took a little bit of time to make but i didn’t mind the wait as it was worth the wait. the food was piping hot. serving was ample—you’ll definitely have leftovers. the eggplant was sautéed and seasoned well. the rice soaked up the sauces. savory and tasty meatless comfort food. my expectations weren’t high when i ordered but i was impressed by the quality and value of this dish. eggplant in garlic sauce over rice, $7 + tip. staff were nice and seemed genuinely. helpful with other customers. cash only and possibly zelle/venmo.

Walked into Ming Kee kitchen today accidentally with starving belly when landed hours late in NYC. A hot pot of welcome tea right after seating, thankful in a cold and damp day! The noodle soup with shredded duck meat is typical Cantonese flavor, and the salty fish pellets sauted chicken is authentic. The diced barbecue pork fried rice is a disappointment, felt like soy sauce over-poured, and over-fried smell. Well, felt this is a place for most of work bees to get a homemade dishes quickly regularly with a very fair price in NYC, very decent owner. I was commenting it's even less expensive than the similar dish in Dallas nowadays (Chinese restaurants in Dallas generally are crazily over priced without significant quality upgrade). Found an interesting thing, a white pipe standing next to the wood wall in the restaurant. Guess what the function is?😁

I had the Sauteed Eggplant with garlic sauce, because one of reviews had written that it was good, it was not for my taste. I also had the Egg noodle soup with wonton and roasted duck, the wonton is average at best, but the duck was good. I had a big appetite since this is my brunch. Their prices for the food are cheaper than a regular chinese resto in the DMV area, cash only basis, you often get what you pay for, a classic adage.

I ordered a lunch special diced chicken with pepper and peanuts tonight. When I picked up my order, I asked the male cashier if the diced chicken with pepper was too spicy. (If it was too spicy, then I wanted to order extra food.) The male cashier answered my question with attitude. He said, "No, not too spicy. But I don't have time to explain it to you. If I explain it to you with details, I don't have time to get off from work." Come on!!! I didn't ask him to explain anything to me. My question was a simple and closed question. The answer is only "yes" or "no". With this bad service, I didn't want to order anything else. I don't think he is the boss. I used to often buy food from this place. The boss was nicer. Please train your staff to have better customer service. Chinatown has a lot of restaurants. Customers have a lot of choices.

I don’t recommend this place if you are looking to eat a freshly cooked meal. I ordered a dish with pork & onions over rice and by far it was the worst I’ve ever had. I ordered the dish and not even 5 minutes had passed and the waiter served it to me. The rice was soaked in a sauce which was way to oily. Also the pork chop was mostly all fat no matter where I took a bite. To let you know I’m also Asian so I’ve had a fair share of Chinese food. Lastly, during my meal the waiter put the bill on my table while I haven’t even finished my meal yet. The service was alright but other than that I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

The plates were dirty and the duck had little meat, mostly bones. They also demanded a tip dispite the terrible customer service. Would not return or recommend.

April 2025 - This review is a warning for anyone visiting Chinatown. The "CASH ONLY" policy is rampant, but what is worse is the shady behavior regarding change. I was intentionally short-changed here. Ming Kee Kitchen Inc on Grand Street needs to be watched closely. They are experts at identifying customers who aren't paying attention or tourists who won't argue over a few dollars. Don't let them take advantage of you. Count your change immediately at the counter before you walk away, or better yet, avoid these places that treat customers with such dishonesty. I have noticed similar tactics at Sun Sai Gai on Canal street as well.

Will give zero star if I could. Roast Duck is stone cold. When asked, they heat it up in the microwave. Black Pepper Beef Rib is RAW and the meat is spoiled. Server is rude and slow. They have the guts to ask for tips. They don’t deserve any :) Please avoid.

Will not be returning due to the RUDE and RACIAL woman behind the counter. Told me to wait in line and allowed all the other Chinese people to order before me… then proceeded to bad talk me after I told her I don’t want the duck, just an order pork. Got my order, and I kindly asked her for another sauce (only gave me 1 for a whole 2lb of pork). To which she told me no, get out. Get out. She also short me on my change, so that’s the cherry on top. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE RACIAL TO NON ASIANS CANT EVEN GIVE PROPER CHANGE BACK.

visited this restaurant recently with my coworkers, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The first couple of bites were okay, but as we kept eating, the taste started to change and reminded us of the unpleasant smell you’d encounter at a live poultry market. It was hard to enjoy the meal after that. To make matters worse, my coworker and I both ended up with stomach problems soon after eating here. We even had to call out of work the next day because of it. This was my second time eating here, and the first visit was perfectly fine, so I’m not sure what went wrong this time. I’m willing to believe this was just a fluke, but once I get stomach issues from a place, that’s a red flag I can’t ignore. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

I wouldn't recommend this place, especially for groups and people that don’t speak Mandarin nor Cantonese. My friends and I waited 15 minutes without being given a menu, so we had to go get one ourselves. Despite speaking Chinese, other customers who arrived after us were treated with more care. The server was rude, slamming the food on our table with an angry expression. We ordered roasted pork, but were given char siu instead. When we pointed it out, they insisted char siu was the same. The food was oily, tasted like frozen meat, and the duck smelled bad. We won't be coming back ever again.
