The service here is amazing. Our server at the bar gave great dish recommendations and everything was incredible. The cocktails are definitely worth coming for— I recommend the cilantro gimlet. We loved the pork belly carnitas tacos and Zarandeado.
I loved everything about this restaurant — the vibe, the food, the cocktails, everything! Guillermo who was behind the bar is SO warm and friendly, and makes the best margaritas in NYC. The Michelin star is well deserved 👏
El restuarante esta muy deliciso y purrrfecto! We were looking for a bite after the Nat History museum and so the location was just a short walk around the block. Teresa welcomed us and we chose the corner sidewalk view which was ideal. I’m from Texas, and the food was better than we can usually find. Ask for Terese and enjoy this restaurant near the American Museum of Natural History.
Mexican restaurant on UWS on the Michelin guide, pretty self explanatory! Saturday afternoon quite busy, lots of reservations and walk ins. Portions were generous and flavours top tier. The guac had a chilli oil on it that was immense and homemade tortillas. Homemade lemonade was gorgeous! Sometimes they can be a little tart but this was perfectly sweet and lemony. Birria quesadilla was a highlight, birria not too spicy which was great for me but my partner would’ve rathered more fire. The chipotle shrimp taco was lovely and had the spice missing from the birria. Pork taco spot on. Overall excellent meal!!
I wandered around the Natural History Museum and happened to find this restaurant, which was rated Michelin 2025. The food was amazing. I ordered fish tacos and chilaquiles rojos, both very authentic, spicy, layered, and full of flavor. Sergio is also incredibly nice, and he introduced the restaurant’s signature dishes and even shared stories about his hometown. Now I really want to go to South America this year.
Stopped by Covacha after a day at The Museum. What a wonderful restaurant. Decor and vibe was very appealing and service was great. Mescal-Rita was tasty as was house red wine. Food, appetizers, entrees and dessert were delicious. I also liked the no pressure vibe. Had a 2 hour dinner with my family and enjoyed every minute. I definitely recommend and will return when in New York City.
This is a cute Mexican place right at the edge of Central Park. Even the bathroom is decorated colorfully. We just happened upon this spot and were thankful we found it! They have nice lunch specials that allowed us to try a few different things including really tasty shrimp tacos and black beans. Their sauces are really good too! We will come back to this place.
I visited Covacha on a late Friday evening. Parking around the premises was surprisingly easy. Truly enjoyed the food. The Tacos were spectacular, so was the Guacamole. The staff was friendly, authentic and attentive. Great choice if your are looking for a elevated Mexican cuisine. 🇲🇽
Stopped here for happy hour on a Tuesday and was seated quickly. They had some seating outside, but it’s right on the sidewalk so we ate inside instead. The air conditioning was working great! I got the Spicy Reaper mocktail - honestly, best and cheapest mocktail I’ve ever had. Didn’t taste like sweet juice, had a nice kick to it, and only $8! Chicken flautas were tasty, had the perfect crunch, and a yummy green sauce. My shrimp taco was filled to the brim and tasted really fresh. My favorite had to be the queso fundido with chorizo - sooooo good, it was perfect. The only things I will say are the happy hour portions are on the smaller side (as expected) and the prices aren’t amazing for HH. The waitstaff was nice and we got served all our food at once, about 10ish minutes or so after we ordered. Would definitely come back again to try their brunch or regular dinner!
Had a great experience at Covacha! The food was delicious - fresh, flavorful, and with great vegetarian options. Good music in the background - a perfect night out with friends was icing on the cake. Shout out to Gloria, our friendly and attentive server, and to Nicholas, who kept everything running smoothly. We felt well taken care of. Highly recommend Covacha - you won’t be disappointed!
Absolutely loved my experience at Covacha! The pulled pork tacos were packed with flavor—perfectly tender and topped with just the right amount of fresh garnish. The chicken flauta was beautifully presented and tasted incredible, with the vibrant sauces adding a delicious touch. The margaritas were spot on—balanced, refreshing, and the ideal complement to the meal. Service was solid throughout, attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for elevated Mexican cuisine in a fun, colorful setting. Will definitely be back!

This place was excellent from start to finish. The four of us called in a brunch reservation from nearby Central Park and we walked right to a seat upon arrival. We started with three unusual, beau…
My birthday luncheon! I was welcomed and promptly seated as a walk-in. I was fortunate to have Alexia as my server, knowledgeable, smiling face, prompt and attentive to my food tastes. She was very helpful with her suggestive dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit. Great ambiance and the restaurant is full of energy. Seemed like a smooth flow auto run place. I had a list of a few IG’s dishes that I realllllllllly wanted to try Chef Lilly’s specialties, but none were available- I guess seasonal. I had a mental palate to try’em all, but was disheartened…maybe another time. Kudos to the team for a very well run operation. 👏😋🫶‼️ Ty Alexia for friendly service.
delivers! All of the food was outstanding. The guacamole ashes looked beautiful and was a little different. The quesadilla negra was exceptional. The sauce and the crema worked so well together, lots of texture. The barbaco tapatia was perfectly cooked, crispy outer layer, rich and tender beef. The tortillas were well made. I thought the rice and the beans could use more flavor. The service was fast.
We had a nice morning in the American Museum of Natural history and got caught in a storm on the way out. Took shelter in this mexican restaurant which ended up being a nice surprice. Good portions and quality plates. Al pastor tacos were banging and the chicken burrito was plentiful, we also had this filled pepper that was on the specials and was really good.

The empanada appetizer was really yummy although a bit small. The quesabirria beef tacos were actually very flavorful and overall the beef was good. Service was a bit weird. Did like the ambiance.
The food, drinks and desert are great! Nice neighborhood spot to visit. I recommend the Buñuelo dessert.
We dropped in for a late lunch after a day at the Natural History Museum, which Covacha is located just behind. We were treated to delectable mexican cuisine cooked to perfection.
We had dinner Saturday night in this extremely noisy place. It took 1/2 hour for our waiter to take our order and another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. I was disappointed in my margarita .…
Came here with a few colleagues on a Monday night. The immediate impression was good. The restaurant had a warm pleasant vibe. The food, alas, was a little underwhelming. I generally enjoy fish tacos, but these were slightly bland. And the tortilla soup was too salty for me. The other dishes were alright, but alas these two were the only ones memorable, but not in a positive way.
Is just ok nothing special I got a black quesadilla super simple with beans I meant very fancy decorate but is just. Una quesadilla con frijoles!! Not worth for the price
Everything we ordered was very tasty. I do think it was a bit overpriced ($200 for 1 guacamole, 1 margarita, & 3 entrees). The portions are small to average size. You should know that they have tap…

Save your money, it’s not worth the bib gourmand. The food looks nice but flavor wise.. it’s seriously lacking. Mexican cuisine should be full of flavor making you salivate but the food here? It was hard to finish because of how bland it was. Maybe they forgot the salt? The enchilada sauce was watered down which made the tortilla soggy and unappetizing. At least the chicken was some what seasoned. Sadly, I won’t be coming back here. Very disappointed with the food and even more so with the automatic 18% gratuity for lunch service. All they did was fill my water and bring my food, nothing special or worthy of 18%. Edit: the restaurant responded saying the 18% goes to paying THEIR workers a fair wage. I don’t see how that’s a customers problem. Also, after waiting 7 minutes when I asked for something, I saw the waitress laughing with her coworkers in that floor below, and had to flag her down again. So what’s the 18% going towards?
Horrible service , they do no like kids with special needs. Very rude people with not customer care at all.
