Playa Betty’s is such a fun and lively spot! The food is fresh and flavorful — the tacos are delicious CHICKEN TINGA ENCHILADA , the chips and Austin style queso are a must. Churros is delicious too The vibe is casual and upbeat, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. A great place to hang out with friends and enjoy good Mexican food!

Mikayla and Al did a fantastic job and made our evening at Playa Betty’s really special. They were kind enough to treat us to a horchata rice pudding, which was super delicious. The fish tacos and shrimp tacos are a must try and tasted incredibly fresh. The chips were warm and perfect and the drinks were delicious. Thank you Mikayla and Al for the great service and a wonderful experience.

I had the loveliest experience! Came here before a show and our server, Souleymane was so lovely - The service was exceptional! We told him we had a time crunch, and he brought our food and drinks out within minutes. $4 tacos on taco Tuesday too! Such nice people, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere.

Sharlene was excellent. I got a restaurant often and I hardly ever see the amount of service and attention to detail like I saw at your restaurant. She deserves a raise. I don’t think Reyes would do her justice. Just make her a manager because I think everybody at your restaurant should move and act like she does. She is well trained, and I appreciate her greatly

Let me tell you about Playa Betty’s- being someone from San Diego.. it’s the one place you can count on authentic Cali vibes. Anthi specifically was INCREDIBLE. She just brought the best energy and was so nice! I love this place!! (The spicy marg is also UNMATCHED)

Really solid tacos. I was a bit worried that the Taco Dinner would be too much food, but two tacos left me wanting a bit more. My friend also said that this is one of the few places that she can get real Austin-style queso.

The vibes is really nice, people are super friendly and food exquisite. I got 3 tacos mushrooms, al pastor and the best Birria. I was so full to have more food but I’ll back to try more. This is the pelase that you never get tired of eat.

Fantastic food, atmosphere, and service that works for a family dinner or night out with friends. We ate here after a long day at the Natural History museum. With 3 hungry young boys and 1 tired baby we made our way through the front door. Usually, our crew is met with a deep breath as the restaurant knows there is a 50/50 chance that our table will be rowdy, BUT not Playa Betty. We were met with a huge "Hello and Welcome!" and every family member received a fist bump from one of the waiters. Once seated, Craig greeted our table and informed us of happy hour, which I took part in. He quickly came back to tell me that the keg was being changed so it would take a few more minutes but I didnt mind trying the other beer instead. After receiving my beer, Craig returned with a sample of my original order now that the keg was changed, and he said, "I didn't want you to miss out on what you originally wanted!" Craig was an incredible server, acknowledging all of the kids that ranged from 1.5 to 12 years old. The whole restaurant catered to our kids and made them feel welcomed and appreciated. Only one of my kids got a kids meal which came with an ice cream at the end. Since this restaurant knows kid dynamics they voluntarily brought out ice cream for the other 3 free of charge. The atmosphere was absolutely incredible and would work for any occasion from family dinner to night out with friends after work. The food was out of this world good and the family could not get enough of the street corn. I highly recommend this place and will absolutely be going back!

6/28/25 finally had time to get here for happy hour(every day 3-6pm). Me and D sat outside, good people watching. Good service. The happy hour drinks are good and the food is good too. Great California style Mexican food! The queso with chorizo was a standout, as well as the chicken enchiladas. Their frozen Palomas are also great, maybe a little strong!

Everyone was so friendly and the food came out fast. Food is expensive for the portion size but it was tasty. The Coca Cola short rib tacos were excellent. On the small side but the meat was super flavorful and sweet from the cola, very tender. The fish tacos were okay, pretty soggy and not very crispy. Def get the cola taco if you come here! Nice to go to before or after a show at the beacon theater. I also like how they give complimentary chips, and the chips were very good, salty but not too salty.

Maybe I experienced this place during a very understaffed weekday lunchtime. My waiter seemed to be waiting tables and working the bar, with only one other waitperson. My tacos came out almost concerningly fast. The fish taco seemed possibly a little undercooked, but I was so hungry I had eaten too much before inspecting. Hoping it’s not related, but I now have an upset stomach. The mushroom, fish and egg/cheese tacos each tasted ok, a little expensive for what they are. But I also ordered a margarita, and they never brought it. I ended up going to the bar to pay and ask to have the margarita taken off my check, because I had to head out. Surprising because it would have made my bill higher and therefore his tip. But maybe he was spread too thin- maybe the nice weather caused them to be busier than they expected. But I did not experience especially tasty food or friendly attentive service, as the Google/AI summary suggests. The waiter never made eye contact or really spoke to me exactly, but stared at his ordering tablet held up infront of his face each time.. Again, maybe this is because he was very busy, but I felt like I was struggling to speak with a texting teenager or something. I wouldn’t eat here again, especially considering the indigestion. It just wasn’t good.

It took five minutes to be seated and another 8 minutes for the sever to come to the table. We arrived at 6:45P for the Happy Hour special. It was cutting it close to the cut off time but the hostess informed us we could still order before 7P. The server came at 6:58P for the order and put in burgers and Paloma’s. The burger was not like the picture in the other review. It was missing meat. It was burnt and it lacked any flavor or taste. It was very disappointing. The server never came to ask how it was. I asked another server for the manager and when no one came I decided to go to the hostess stand and mention that I won’t be ordering more food as I was left with a poor taste in my mouth from a burned burger. We were starving and wanted to order more food but we left and ate a neighboring restaurant. The staff wanted us to come back next time rather than handling the issue on this same visit. It was a very unpleasant experience. The picture I have doesn’t show the burnt meat but it does show that the cheese was burnt black. It was all lettuce and bread and very little meat. I think it does show that its size is small and it is like a mini slider with nothing but bread and lettuce.
