What a fabulous experience! We had the Scallops, the Ecuadorian Mahi Mahi special. Started with a beautiful Burrata salad. This is one special place! We used to go to their og location in California, now we can enjoy it here. Lindsey our server was fantastic. Enjoy!
We had the pleasure of having dinner last night at this restaurant. Everything was delicious! Our server, Steve, was the best and did not steer us wrong with his dining suggestions from cocktails to appetizers to entrees! Our experience included the bang bang shrimp, meatballs, butternut squash soup, lobster risotto with sea bass, lamb chops with lobster, and their pork chop! You know food is great when there is humming going around the table! We will definitely be back! Huge shout out to Steve for making it a great experience!
Tries them for the first time … Wawoo Love it and highly recommend this place . The cook and the waiter are 10/10 Thank you
Bang Bang Shrimp & Fish & Chips were fantastic! Lindsey was sweet and prompt with service and proud to work here. And she put up with me!
What a great New Year's Eve experience. The music was phenomenal. The service was superlative. My ribeye was perfect. My wife had the salmon special. It was phenomenal. The meatball appetizer is unique and wonderful. The marinara and pesto together makes it special. The shrimp was the hit of the evening with my wife. Calamari was good. Outstanding evening. Outstanding venue. Outstanding service. What a great place to do New Year's Eve!
I have been here numerous times and we have always experienced great and consistent service and friendly staff. The food has been great too and if not, they have made it right. Great atmosphere as well - low key and not stuffy. Comfortable and nice lighting and bar area.
What a great place. My wife and I went in for a date and had such a great time from the time we stepped in. Sovereign made our night so good. Food was great, place is very comfortable and nice. Amazing overall.
I was told by the waiter that they had the best pork chop in town. I was extremely skeptical as he said even better than Perry’s, Bobs, Rick’s Chophouse. So I took my chances and ordered it. It came to the table served with a couple of thick slices of sweet potato and haricot verts served with a nutty topping. The chop was grilled perfectly and the waiter was right, I have eaten many chops and many very good, but this truly was the best chop I have ever eaten. My wife had the lettuce wraps and loved them. Ended the meal with an order of crème brûlée and it too was excellent!
This place is my new favorite spot! The food is out of this world and tastes so fresh, the atmosphere and service are amazing, and Emilio was an excellent server. This highly exceeded my expectations!
Highly recommend this place, delicious food, good service, and the vibe is calm and relaxing. When sat down, you are greated with a very tidy and clean table, our server was very kind, and respectful. I ordered the Calamari and man it was delicious
Our Neighborhood Women's Bible Study (well, half of us) very much enjoyed our first delightful Fellowship Dinner and absolutely delectable food❣😋😍 HUUUGE THANK YOU David & Jaylene Hall who own this amazing restaurant. If you haven't dined here yet, you are seriously missing out. Fabulous food in a refreshing, unique & comfortable atmosphere, with exceptional service❣❣❣ I had the pan-roasted Chilean sea bass topped with shaved fennel and cucumbers, over a bed of creamy polenta. It was all absolutely scrumptious😍😋 The Chilean sea bass' light and crispy sear on the outside and the tender flakiness on the inside married beautifully with the polenta's delicate creaminess and subtle texture. The fresh fennel and cucumbers were a refreshing touch that added a nice zing to the plate.
Food and service were both excellent. We hadn't been here in a few years and we're very happy on this visit. Will return again.
The Urban Grill and Wine Bar is a gem in the Historic Downtown Mckinney area. The food is soooooo delectable. I swear we've eaten there twice now and it gets better and better. The owners are a delight and are very hands on in this thriving business of theirs. The wife and I highly recommend it.
Wow the food…… the crab cake and ahi poke appetizer amazing so light and flavorful. The filet mignon is top notch steak with amazing sauce, and my lamb chops holy cow to die for…. The service has been amazing every time I come! My new favorite date night restaurant!!!! Literally my only complaint is the chairs hurt my bum!
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. My husband and I came in today for an early dinner with our 2 year old. I have to say, my husband is Italian and we have had fresh pasta from Italy and no lie, this was probably the closest we will get to Italy. Never in a million years did we think we would get pasta like this in Mckinney. The food is AMAZING. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. We ordered my daughter pasta with butter and parmesan cheese, she couldn't stop eating. I ordered the bolognese and my husband ordered the carbonara. The wine list was also very good and we ordered a bottle, a Lodi that was good. The waiter we had (I can't remember his name, young tall guy with curly hair) was very attentive and gave great service. Although our daughter was really good we will definitely be back for an actual date night on a Friday or Saturday night.
A pleasant, quiet spot off the main square in McKinney to enjoy a quality meal, appetizer or drink on the patio. You can watch people, parades go past. Favorites are the spicy Bam-bam shrimp appetizer served on a bed of cole slaw, and many interesting salads with a mixture of vegetables, grilled chicken or salmon. Healthy choices. Accommodating, friendly wait staff.
Urban Grill and Wine Bar in Downtown McKinney is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and outstanding service. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is just as impressive—sophisticated yet inviting, making it the perfect spot for a date night, celebration, or just a great meal with friends. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in McKinney, this is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back!
Excellent food and service! We walked in on a Thursday night and didn't have a wait. Perfectly fine that we didn't have masks on because they understand adults can make decisions for themselves. Our waitress was fun and knew the menu well. The atmosphere was comfortable and it's fun to watch the kitchen staff do their work. We got a cheeseboard and shared a pasta dish which was the perfect portioned dinner.
Amazingly good! The food here is a wonderful experience, our server did an excellent job and despite coming at a busy time with no reservation we were seated immediately and had an all-around excellent experience! I enjoyed the seafood linguine with salmon and my husband got the Australian lamb chops, which he claimed were the best lamb chops he had ever had! If you decide to dine here, you will not regret it 😁
I am super happy I came to this restaurant today. It is in a location of another restaurant I liked so I am happy it is good! This restaurant is more upscale and has a wonderful wine list. Plus a knowledgeable waitress, Ashlee, suggested a Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley that was perfect with my very late lunch. Elk Cove if you’re interested. They were super nice to adjust the menu item I wanted to accommodate my gluten-free issues also without nuts and seeds. I truly appreciate their wonderful attitude about this. Food portion size was large. I ended up taking half of my meal home. I’m sure it will make wonderful leftovers. The temperature in the restaurant was perfect not too cold or too hot. And the manager or owner, whoever he was, stopped by to make sure everything was good at my table. I thought that was a nice touch. Picture attached is their grilled vegetable pasta. I seriously loved the marinated artichoke hearts in this dish.
Great place, good food & service. I really enjoyed tuna cucumber appetizer. Fish was super fresh. We had a party of 5 with 3 kids and the server accommodated us really well. Kids loved pasta and ate all of my seared tuna so that I had to order another app which is how I discovered their delish tuna app! UPDATE: Went again yesterday so I got to take a photo of the Seared Tuna. My kids gobbled it up in 5 min! I had to get them their own plate ❤️. Compliments to the chef on this delish dish. Our group also had sea bass and scallops which were also very good. In terms of wine we had French sov Blanc it was really good. Service was super great just as the first time! By far my favorite place in McKinney!
The McKinney food scene is getting a lot more exciting - thanks to Urban Grill and Wine Bar McKinney! Wonderful service with amazing food! The cocktail menu -along with the wine menu- is very unique. Make sure to try the Stone Sour cocktail! You will be amazed about the dishes but if you can - leave room for the Chocolate Pots De Creme!
Love the location and the quality of thefood is the best! Their menu is creative and unique but with plenty of sea options. Service was attentive and kind. Sadly the first contact, the very young lady at the reception wasn’t trying to get us a table when 70% of the place was empty. Past that hiccup everything was great!
We have been here several times and have always had a great experience and love to bring friends and family here. During our most recent visit, we had the figgie smalls and old fashioned for drinks, the wedge salad as a starter, and the swordfish special and filet for entrees. We would order everything again! All staff members were courteous and helpful. We are excited for our next visit! Update: tried lots of new dishes this weekend and we were impressed as usual!!
OH MY! It was amazing! Our service was exceptional, Alex knew her stuff! She Gave great recommendations from drinks to our dinner. Food came out hot, and I mean steaming! We had the Ribeye and Seafood Linguine. Forgot to take a pic before we devoured it! ☺️Wonderful atmosphere for a great date night! Thank you again Alex! I can truly tell you enjoy your job! So very personable. We will be back, and ask for YOU! And the Mousse was YUMMY 🥰❣️
Great place, great service and food was very good! The bartenders were very helpful in letting me know what was safe to eat for Gluten free. Went there a couple times and both times was great. Will be going back for sure! I tried two different desserts and the mussels. Didn't get picture of mussels.
First time visiting was a great experience. The food, atmosphere and service was exceptional. The owner and manager made sure we were satisfied and made several visits to our table. Our server, Carlos was very attentive, personable and professional. He was also knowledgeable with wine choices and made our evening very enjoyable. The food portions were big and the food was very flavorable and presented well. The desert (white and milk chocolate bread pudding)and wine were my favorite! We will definitely go back. A very nice addition to downtown Mckinney!
Loved it. Super easy reservation system, very friendly host, beautiful table and interiors, excellent server, and delicious food. We got a wine flight, beer, the urban wedge salad, ratatouille, seafood linguine, and a chicken stirfry and it was all phenomonal- presentation and taste. Loved the loud, casual, but still upscale atmosphere in amlovely location just off the square. Will definitely be making this our new date spot.
Upon entering Urban Grill and Wine Bar for the first time, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff immediately greeted and seated me. The server's attentiveness stood out, as she not only took my order promptly but also offered valuable menu suggestions. After some contemplation, I opted for the Fish and fries. The dish was nicely prepared and certainly enjoyable, though it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. That said, the menu's vast selection piques my interest, and I'm eager to return and sample something new, hoping to uncover a dish that resonates more with my tasting. In conclusion, while the food was good, it's the overall dining experience - the ambiance, the service, and the promise of more culinary adventures - that compels me to give a 5-star rating. I look forward to my next visit and the chance to delve deeper into their menu.
I was at this beautiful restaurant yesterday afternoon for lunch with my two friends. Lindsey, our server, was absolutely amazing! She answered all of our questions about the menu and was wonderful. She is a definite asset to this restaurant! The fabulous drinks and food were also very much appreciated! I definitely recommend this one!
One of the better meals I have had in Mckinney. We had the Sea Bass which was terrific and the Lobster and seafood risotto and it was amazing! The tuna starter was a small portion but very good. The Apple fritter for dessert was good but I think we would choose something else next time we go there. Excellent service and dining experience.
Delicious brunch/lunch here! We ordered the Turkey club and Avocado toast brunch entree. We had lunch on the patio and it was really nice shade and a great spot for observing the downtown McKinney scene🤩 our server, Lindsey, was great and attentive! Will be back…love the vibe and service here.
Without question, one of my favorite restaurants in McKinney. The food has the influence of west coast...a bit lighter, grilled vs fried. Last week, their coho salmon w watermelon gazpacho special was extraordinary. Tonight, the hallibut was perfect. Try the peach capresse salad. Honestly, if you are lucky enough to be served by Steve, its a perfect restaurant experience. Do it!! You'll be happy happy happy.
Randomly picked whilst visiting McKinney's downtown on a late afternoon weekend day. They quickly cleaned a patio table for us. All servers were attentive and helpful. We ordered burrata as an appetizer. Ribeye and seafood linguine as an entree. The pasta was al dente, the scallops were the best part. It was an interesting experience, but a little too pricey.
Omg the bang bang shrimp was to die for!!! So so good. This was our first time here and it was nothing but great. Robin was or awesome waitress who made sure the wine glasses were never empty and we were well fed. We had the lamb and pasta as our mains and we can recommend anting better. The lamb was cooked to perfection... over all just an amazing great experience
Found this place with a random search and was not disappointed. Came in with no wait. The server was On It from the go! Ordered an Old Fashion and it was Amazing! When my friend arrived she was familiar with this place but it had been a while. Atmosphere was really nice, subtle romance feel. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff from the servers recommendation, and she had the Lamb. Both dishes Amazing. I would definitely come back. Oh yeah, it's a little pricey but it's worth it.
Service and atmosphere were amazing. Had the filet mignon it was excellent just missing a little seasoning but it was almost there and still very very good. . My wife loved the halibut. We were really surprised as the service was amazing and the interior stylish (It doesn't look good from the outside).
Our overall experience was fantastic here. We came on a Friday around lunch time and ordered wine/apps. The bang bang shrimp was delicious; it was spicy, creamy, and delectably crispy. Their wine list was insane, so it looks like there’s something for every taste. Plus their cocktail menu looked rather long for the non-wine drinkers. The burgers and salads we saw walk by looked good as well. Will definitely be trying some of those on our next trip in. Great atmosphere and great service.
First time at Urban Grill and Wine Bar, and we loved it! Great food and great staff in a really nice space. We started with the bang bang shrimp, and it was delicious! It was crunchy and sweet with just the right amount of heat! My fiancé had the sea bass which was cooked perfectly over a yummy cauliflower puree. I had the seafood risotto with scallop, shrimp, and sea bass- it was really good! We shared the apple fritters for dessert. They were really good along with vanilla gelato and some Carmel sauce. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
I've visited this venue on 3 separate occasions and have decided a hightop table in the bar area overlooking the street is a perfect spot to enjoy wine, dinner and people-watching. Seafood pasta is one of my favorite dishes. Urban Grill's version includes shrimp, mussels, fish and too much pasta. Admittedly, most restaurants in Texas serving seafood pasta will lack in protein. You'll have to visit Cape Cod for seafood pasta with more seafood than pasta! Urban Grill is a good option for locals that boasts a nice decor with good wine selection.
I came her for date night. The drinks (I tried grow a pear, and a tequila old fashion) were great, the lobster bisque was soooo good with a little spicy kick to it. And the seafood linguine was just okay in my opinion. i kind of wish i would have gotten something else. But the overall service and atmosphere was amazing. Our serve was Debra and we thought she was great.
First time here, and we really enjoyed it! Our waitress, Elizabeth, was perfect for us! Served us at the speed of a restaurant at this price point should be! Not rushed, but attentive! She also had the smarts to understand sarcasm, so thank you for that! Food: Appetizer was Spicy Bang Bang Shrimp, right amount of heat! Entrée was the Seared Dayboat Scallops on Goat Cheese Polenta. The husband had the Seafood Linguini. It had a scallop, shrimp, mussels, and Chilean sea bass. Both were very good. To elevate the pasta, make it fresh it would really do a lot for the dish!
We had a rough start to our dining experience since we were not seated for 20 minutes after our reservation time due to a mistake made by the hostesses. This was made up by the general manager by covering the cost of our coffees and deserts. The food was excellent, our waiter was very knowledgable and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. We will be back again and I would have given 5 stars if not for the reservation issue.
The chilean sea bass was fantastic. The seafood in the seafood linguine was good, but the pasta itself was just ok. Service was great, I think his name was Steven. We'll go back, but won't order a pasta dish.
First time visit after friend's recommendation for an early dinner. Great ambience and excellent service by Jennifer. Had the following: Calamari - hardly any meat, lots of flour Ahi Poke - well presented. Lamb - soft and juicy Seared Scallops - quite delicious Beet Salad + Shrimp - excellent Apple Fritters - excellent Gin Tonic and Shirley Temple Total bill including tip for a group of 3 = $225 or $75 per person. Too pricey.
Loved the interior, service was excellent. Started with tempora vegetables, came with an excellent sauce. The veggies could have used a little extra tempora coating but the veggies were really good. My husband got the shrimp veggie stir fry he said very good, shrimp were cooked perfectly. I got the Cuban sandwich, it was good, but needed more cheese, pickles and the pickled onion. It came with sweet potato fries which were the bomb. Beautiful bar and awesome drink list.
Revisited February 2026. Fried Calamari, Lamb Chop, Ahi Tuna Tartare and Mussels all delicious. Drinks were good but the bar must be slammed because we got all our food before the first rounds of alcohol. Reviews from multiple visits in 2025. Lamb chops tender and juicy. Burger ok. Fish and chips better than most places. Pork Chop well seasoned and not chewy. Caesar salad fresh and crunchy. Skinny fries weren't golden brown nor crispy, told server, brought us another plate, still not up to par.
UPDATE: 3/27/21 We were there twice this weekend. Continues to do well. Lamb chops were decadent! A must try. Friend had pork chop and greatly enjoyed. 3/20/21 My friend and I enjoyed our experience overall. For only being open a week and a half, the establishment is going to be very promising. Had reservations for 7:15 on Saturday evening. Place was packed but we were given option of high-top table in bar area or a table in dining, so they were prepared for our arrival. We opted for the high-top for the vibe and to keep an eye on college basketball. Service was a little slow and discombobulated. Looks as if there were two bartenders and servers supporting tables in bar area so we don't think they were completely in tune with each other, thus our wait to be greeted, place orders, and receive food/drinks was longer than standard. They were out of ingredients for our first choice of cocktails so we settled on second choice. Believe the bartender/server was situationally aware of our initial slow service as he was extra friendly and chatted with us for an extra minute or two about the opening when he took our order. Completely understood and appreciated. Our chicken lettuce wraps were delightful... delicious but not too filling. Our small plates for the appetizer came when we were about a fourth of the way through eating it. We were uninformed of fish of day or specials prior to placing our order so we inquired upon placing our order, and I changed my decision in the moment without much time to think. The meals were very appealing to the eye when delivered. When asked if we needed anything else, we did ask for a glass of wine to go with dinner but were informed by the server or expediter that she doesn't take orders and that someone would be by soon. The chicken was perfect. Full of flavor. The halibut FOD was tasty and had great potential but in our opinion may have been sitting for a while waiting to be served as it was slightly warm and getting dry. The dirty rice that came with was very delicious and a good pairing, along with the crispy asparagus and the sauce was a pleasant surprise. By the time we had an opportunity to order wine, we were close to finishing our meals, so opted to not. The extra wait for our dessert was worthwhile as it was chocolate decadence. Overall pleasant experience with room for improvements. I live on the square so would expect to return. Hoping to have another exceptional go-to option in the neighborhood to bring and meet up with family and friends! Keep up the hard work!
First timer here! I've walked this street so many times and completely missed Urban Grill & Wine Bar. I was invited to a birthday dinner here and was excited to try it. The parking is tricky, it's in the Square in downtown McKinney so come prepared to circle a few times or walk a ways. Once inside, you'll find this place is bigger than it looks from the outside. The interior is exposed brick with plenty of tables. The hostess kindly showed me to our table even though I was early and the first in my party to arrive. I was offered a menu, wine menu and I believe a happy hour menu as well. I was trying to decide between two Chardonnays and after some help from our waitress chose the Crossbarn Chardonnay - it was divine!! The rest of our party arrived and they started with the Burrata. The portion was decent and the other five in our party thoroughly enjoyed it (I'm dairy free so I didn't partake). I chose the Seared #1 Grade Ahi and was delighted to find the dish was already dairy free (except a little butter, which was fine). The presentation was beautiful, the portion size filling and the taste - WOW!!! It did NOT disappoint. I was so delighted with my choice. My friends ordered the Beet Salad with Ahi, which looked incredible & the beets were so fresh and tasty. The friend who ordered the fresh pasta said it was incredible and the portion so large she had enough for lunch the next day! We were all very happy with both our drink and entree choices. The price point was reasonable too. I will definitely be back!
This place is a hidden gem inside of the downtown of McKinney. We came here on our anniversary day. They offered us a complimentary dessert. I love it! They offer a plenty choices of foods. You should try their seafood options. Service is very good. Staff is nice and attentive. Will be back here next time when I have a chance!
Food was Delicious (Fantastic Flavor Profiles), service was adequate, and a dimly lite dining room (had to use cell phone lite to read the menu). Also the tables for two are extremely undersized for dining. To accommodate our beverages, appetizer, and entree's we had to ask for an add'l table to provide us room for our dinner choices.
The place is really cute, specially the outside sitting. I ordered the fish and chips and I was disappointed. The fish and batter had no seasoning, very bland. My son got the pasta and it was bland as well. Maybe their cook doesn’t know the food has no seasoning. The pear 🍐 drink was really good!
This place was lovely! Very cozy and perfect for a date night. The food was decent- the meatloaf wasn't my favorite but the Lamb chops were pretty good! And the drinks were amazing! It's worth the visit, overall. Gave the place 3 stars only because the food doesn't meet the quality of the atmosphere and service.
Y’all. I don’t know what restaurant these “5 star” reviews went to. We went last night and were seated in the bar. I was excited for a nice date night, and the menu looked awesome. It’s kind of dingy and dark. It seems like a dive bar, not a nice restaurant bar. Bar service was also a little slow. We ate the lamb appetizer like the reviews showed. Our lamb? I think it was from WW2. It was chewy! It seemed like it had been microwaved. We also had the burrata and it was ok…but then I got the duck special. It was over cooked! Seriously. Even the restrooms are tired. Look at my other reviews. We don’t have super high expectations. I vacillated on even writing this… but thought I’d save someone from a bad night out. Was it just an off night? Don’t know, but even the bar seemed like it needed a complete makeover and a good scrubbing. Good luck!
I had high expectations for this restaurant based on the reviews, and perhaps it was a bad night, but I suspect I will never go back. My wife and I wanted a casual anniversary dinner, so I selected this restaurant and informed them that this was for my anniversary. When we arrived, there was no acknowledgement and we were seated at a table that was extremely tight. I shared my concern about the table spacing and was met with a blank stare and a shrug. That should have been my signal to leave. I moved the table myself to ensure we could fit. The customer behind actually apologized for things being so tight and I shared with him that it wasn't his fault...the seating was just not comfortable at all. What was most disturbing was there was an empty booth that could seat 4 right across from us but that wasn't offered as an option. A few minutes after we were seated, another party of 2 was seated there. The second problem was the food itself. We started with the chicken lettuce wraps and were disappointed. The entire dish had been overcooked and didn't have much flavor. The best way to describe it was 'one note.' We decided at that point that it was time for us to leave. I will note that the waitress did a fine job, although I didn't get her name. My rating for the service was purely based on the young man that seated us and seemed to have an issue with me saying something about the poor seating choice. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone and am glad that my wife and I didn't let this experience ruin our evening.
We went to Urban Grill on Saturday evening for dinner. The service started out good but, we after waiting over 30 minutes for our appetizer we started to wonder if our server had gone home for the evening. When he finally came to check on us he was shocked that we didnt have our food. He came back a couple of minutes later to explain our appetizer had been delivered to the wrong table but, "we are remaking another one fresh for you and the manager is going to comp the appetizer". When we finally got the appetizer it was cold and not fresh which is important when ordering seafood. The jumbo shrimp were very small, not jumbo at all. I didnt complain at the time because they were already comping it. When the server brought the bill he said "the manager said he cant comp the appetizer because there were other tables that had to wait a really long time too" Excuse me, what?!? I could care less about getting a $15 app for free but, its the principle. We spent $165 on dinner (before tip) the least he could do is follow through on his previous commitment. When I explained this to the server he offered to bring the manager to our table which I asked him not to say anything until we left. So Mr. Manager, this review is for you buddy. You lost a loyal, long time customer who has reffered countless people to your establishment. I will now tell everyone where NOT to go when dining in downtown McKinney. The true measure of a persons character is their ability to do as they say they will do. You left a bad taste in our mouth in more ways than one. If you want a next level dining experience in downtown McKinney avoid Urban Grill. The service, value and quality has deteriorated recently. They have packed so many tables inside that it is extremely loud and hard to move through the restraunt. Urban Grill needs to step up their game if they want to stay in business. We wont be back!
Dinner was great, waitress was amazing, but the valet service is lacking responsibility. Took my wife out on a nice date and we enjoyed everything til we got back to our truck where we found a drill bit in our tire. When I called the restaurant they had a manager step out who told me “this is the guy you want to talk to” as he points to the valet man. Neither party has taken responsibility. I drove 12 min to the restaurant without low tire pressure. I couldn’t even make it down the road without the low tire pressure sign turning out.
I don't normally leave reviews and I have hesitated posting this for some time. But I feel that I should share our experience. My husband and I went here last year for a special occasion. The waitress was so rude that I actually cried. She never told us the specials, yet I heard the waiter at the next table explaining the specials. They do not offer bread. The salad was subpar. And the puree under my fish could barely be found.
