The food and the service were amazing. We tried their breakfast special of egg, cheese, & bacon on a croissant with hot honey butter and home fried, which is delicious and I would highly recommend. I hope it becomes a regular part of their menu. We will be back for sure.

i always look forward to visiting the cafe whenever i'm running in the altamont area. main street is the only place that serves authentic southern grits that i have found 😋. other places serve packaged grits 🙄. not remotely the same. with a toasted corn muffin 🧁 you have the perfect breakfast !

Main Street Cafe a gem in the village of Altamont. All of the food offerings are delicious, the breakfast croissant with hot honey being my favorite. In addition, Jen and the entire team is pleasant and welcoming!

This is one of those places that you find on a whim and blows you away. Spending a Lunch or dinner here does not disappoint. The home made lemonade is the best Ive ever had, and I will be returning when visiting Thatcher Park.

Food was excellent. The kid’s meals had the perfect amount of food and the kids were happy. The Benedict and the chicken and waffles were very tasty and well made. Breakfast potatoes were very well done too :). My only con really is that it’s an older building and drafty, so dress for that. Great experience!

We stopped in once while visiting friends in Albany, and the fried chicken and waffles was divine—crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with waffles that were light and golden. Total comfort food and worth the detour. The food is fresh, portions are generous, and prices are super reasonable. Service is warm and friendly, the kind where they make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. If you’re in the area and want a solid, no-fuss meal in a comfy spot, Main Street Café is the place to go!

I had the stuffed pancake meal, and I could only eat 1/3 of it. It was absolutely delicious and had the rest of it for dinner. I won't order that again, but I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is an "eater". All the meals I saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Looking forward to having time to sit down and have another go at something new.

I came to the cafe for lunch. I had the turkey and goat specialty sandwich with fries. Tasty! Everything was fresh. The cranberries in my sandwich were a creative touch and elevated the entire dish! The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. The food is AMAZING! It's definitely a hidden gem in Altamont! Don't judge a book by the cover! This place is small, but it's always busy for good reason! The hostess, Nancy, is so friendly. She went out of her way to remember mine and my family members' names, and Jules, our waitress, remembered us as well! We come here every chance we can for a good, home cooked breakfast or lunch! It's definitely one of the best stops for great food in Altamont!

We went there because we were visiting from out of state, staying at an AirBNB and needed breakfast. One review that I saw stated that it was their best breakfast ever. Now, I enjoy breakfast and have had some poor ones at various restaurants, but couldn't look back and identify a 'best breakfast ever.' Now I can! I had 2 over easy eggs, corned beef hash, potatoes and toast. My wife and I split a Very Berry Belgian waffle. The eggs and toast were just eggs and toast. The potatoes were very well seasoned, freshly cut, and fried to perfection. The corned beef hash was fresh and the best I've had. That alone was a reason to return. The half waffle with fresh berries and syrup was outstanding. The batter had a great flavor. Two important exceptions were that due to physical building space, plastic ware is used and the prices are higher than a typical breakfast. For our circumstance, neither of these were a negative. We are on vacation and wanted an experience more than a cheap meal. The atmosphere is small town Cheers like. Very friendly and casual. I highly recommend Main Street Cafe. You won't regret it! John

Would definitely eat there again ... the only reason I have it a 3 star on the food was because the hamburgers were a little under cooked ... they were thick and juicy, so if you order the hamburgers, order them medium well. Great atmosphere and even better people!

A quaint place right in the heart of Altamont. Not over-crowded or loud, greeted as soon as we opened the door, menus and coffee within seconds. A very comfortable atmosphere, with seating spaced perfectly and enough room if I wanted to bring all the kids out for a meal. The menu was amazing. They have your regular breakfast items and then they have spruce up versions. They have an eggs Benedict section on the menu and I plan on bringing my husband for our anniversary. I had a great time visiting with my friend, we didn't feel rushed, we had an abundance of food, the price was worth the quality. Overall, I feel like this might become a monthly meal out.

Great breakfast place with some interesting specials. They make their own bagels which are worth a try. Same with the biscuits and gravy which had their own twist to them.

Mac salad was delicious, service was super fast and friendly - turkey sandwich was so dry I couldn’t eat it.

Food was quite tasty (especially the home fries) however the plastic utensils, paper cups and plastic cups were not at all what I expected. I would think it would be more cost effective to use regular silverware and cups and wash them. The price was steep for what I ordered. $18 + without tip for a 2 ingredient omelet and a coffee. That's just too much for a simple breakfast. I would go back but only once in awhile.

Food was good. Plastic silverware, paper cups and metal trays. BOOOO!

Food is delicious but it should not take over an hour for a plate of pancakes and scrambled eggs. No apologies or acknowledgment of the ridiculous wait time either.

Bagel seems to have been sitting out for some time as it is hard as a rock, everything else is tasty tho
