Got my food immediately. It was fresh, delicious, and filling! I don't usually like fried food or unsweetened tea but tonight I devoured every bit of my meal! 5 out 5 for this particular location!

Chicken strips or hot and juicy, mashed potatoes gravy delicious, fried okra good and crisp! Every time I've been there the food has been great!

I have been to quite a few Chicken Express restaurants but this one just happened to be the best one I've been in! Fast service knowledgeable employees and management, and very clean restaurant and dining area

I'm very impressed by this Chicken Express. The employees there are the most polite people I have came in contact with. I'm handicapped, they carried my drink and order to the table for me. I require a Service Dog to help me walk, They respected him and myself. I always order the Catfish. Its always cooked perfect and is seasoned to my taste or liking. The only thing I would like, is cups of ketchup for my fries, not little packets.

We really enjoy the spicy chicken #25 family pack with 2 sides & the rolls are soooo good. Customer Service in Alvarado is always excellent. The staff comes outside to keep the line moving, and very friendly. Hats off to management for hiring & training so many good employees. I'll definitely be back again soon.

This place is always on point. Always ready with the correct order and I have never had a bad experience. The workers are ways friendly and seem to enjoy their job. I always say where there are happy employees their is usually good management. Keep it up Y"all.

I have eaten meals from here many times. My favorites are the thighs and chicken livers. All food has been great with the exception of the green beans, they need more flavor. High score overall for delicious, consistency in product and customer service. Best chicken in Alvarado, Texas so far.

This location has always been great to us. The owner is always pleasant and helpful. They have helped out our ministry quite a few times with tea, plates, napkins and silverware. The restaurant is always clean and it is service with a smile!

Today was my first time ever eating at this location . One of the very best I have been too the lobby is clean workers where very deliteful and the food was very good. It was hot and just right and the sweet tea is the best will have to visit this location more.

For 30 years its been the same. Of course prices have gone way up, though chickens still work for scratch.

I only got tea but it taste good.....the boy at the drive threw was nice. He has manors. He apologized for the wait tho it wasnt to bad of a wait being they was busy with alot of customers.

I didn't go in but the drive-thru guy helped me pick the best deal for what I wanted. I just wanted a couple of tenders and some fries plus try the new sweet corn. Their chicken is really good. Never dry, crispy breading and nice seasonings.

Food was great! Spicy tenders were fresher than usual, which was great. the guy working the counter was strange and the TV was playing Regular Show a bit too loud but it wasn't a big deal.

Very nice older woman at the register. I think she threw in some extra stuff for my kids. She was very attentive in seeing if we needed anything. The other employees during the afternoon shift were also very nice and attentive. Very clean and very quick service!

The manager on duty tonight is excellent!! He knows what he is doing on the drive thru and is a good salesman. He was in the kitchen working alongside his employees. His team members seemed to be happy working there. The food was wonderful, hot and tasty. A good store starts with a great manager and you certainly have one. Keep up the good work, sorry i didn't catch his name!

My favorite fast food chicken place. This particular location was very clean! The service was great and speedy! Love their spicy seasoning!! I can't get enough of it. Love all of their sides and of course chicken. Their rolls are my favorite.

Definitely one of my go to's for quick chicken! But be prepared to wait for certain side items. If you order corn nuggets you might as well pull to the side. But overall it's a good quick fix.

The food was good "for being fast food chicken". What really makes this location stand out is the staff and how friendly they are. Orders came out fast and just as I asked. If you ask for 4 bbq sauces, then you get 4 bbq sauces.

I come here every week and Doug provides the most consistently positive customer service I have ever seen in a food service professional. He is invested in ensuring the customers are happy every. single. time.

Place is SO busy. It's gotten to be a 30 min or longer wait for fast food. But it's ALWAYS GOOD and they are ALWAYS NICE!

Good food, but they always seem to leave something out of our order. They weren't even busy during this particular visit (inside or out), and they still forgot part of our order. With the prices of things nowadays (which I know is outside of their control), now more so than ever we should get what we pay for.

Excellent food! However, we had to change our order to dine-out due to their dining area temperature was 80°. Way too hot for dine in orders on a hot summer day. Hopefully management there will take care of this issue soon.

Well you see..... I thought chicken express meant you got good chicken and FAST! Which is an accurate description of this wonderful establishment. I ate a family piece with 2 sides in about 15 minutes and when I looked around for napkins 2 of those wonderful employees had their jaws about on the floor. Well.... I was hungry. And it hit the spot. Good chicken, I highly recommend it. And remember, everything is better with gravy!

I saw all the bad reviews and decided I had to try it for myself. 1st ever time eating chicken e. Here's my honest opinion... service was great. Wait time from in the door to back out was about 8 minutes (I timed it to see). The inside needs a face lift as it just seems dingy and outdated, although it seemed clean enough. I ordered a #4 (2 PC chicken, side, roll and soda). The sprite was sprite and the ice looked clean. The roll is good but pretty sweet and I really cant decide if it's too sweet maybe. I got okra as a side and it was good, fried well and barely salted, which I actually appreciated. I also got a side of fried pickles but they weren't fried enough and seemed kind of mushy. I ate 2 and put them aside. I got a leg and thigh and they were really moist and cooked well. My only complaints are that it wasn't hot, just a little warm... and I wish the breading had seasoning. While it was crisp enough it was just lacking some flavor. But overall it was a good experience and I would eat here again despite other reviews. This was just after 12pm on a Thursday. It wasn't crowded inside and there was plenty of seating. There were quite a few vehicles in the drive thru but it seemed to move pretty quickly.

Great place but need more employees so they can get there orders out quicker! And then they would get 5 stars! Just FYI they've raised their prices.

We bought the 2 can dine which includes 10 tenders 1 small mashed potatoes 1 small macaroni and cheese 1 roll each 2 small gravies and 2 drinks now the only problem is 2 cannot dine on 2 small sides so hubby got sides you need 2 sides for each person for the 22 dollars please. Food was hot and delicious just not enough sides I won't be back.

Not a great Chicken E location. It's dated and not the cleanest. Was also not very cool in the heat of the late afternoon/early evening. Overall, the value is not great for a family of 4 with meal pricing increasing. There are better options. No specific issues.

Great food but way to expensive for chicken

The girl who took my order was really nice and efficient. However the young dark haired boy who was boxing up the orders just skipped mine altogether. I ordered fish which I know takes 10 minutes to cook. I saw it come out of the fryer and he was making drive thru orders. I heard the cook say he forgot the hush puppies but they would be up soon. The boy continued to fill all orders except mine. After 20 minutes of waiting I approached the counter and requested that my fish( which I could see under the heat light) be boxed up. Instead of doing that for the cashier, he argued that she didn’t put the order on the screen. Well, since it had been sometime, he had filled all of the other orders pushing mine entirely off the screen (several screens back). The argument continued until he got several pages back and saw for his self that she had done her job and he had not. He still did not box my order, instead he just went to the back of the store! The girl working the drive thru had to box up my order and find out what sides I had ordered. Everyone else in the store was great. Just the one intitled kid ruined the entire experience. I guess he just doesn’t like Being WRONG!

Usually visit one to two times a month with fairly consistent food. Yesterday was different. It was just after 5pm, but, rolls were cold and fried chicken tenders were stale like they were leftovers from the day before.

Bought (2)7 piece tender combs & didn’t get gravy had to purchase the gravy separate which is crazy when the 7 piece express combs suppose to come with both a gravy & a side of your choice & a biscuit or a roll of your choice. So not worth the value. Tried to buy a family gravy & was told they couldn’t sell a family side with out a purchase of a family meal. Wow really 🤔🤨

We eat there from time to time and today I decided to order fish they said it was a 9 min cook time I said ok I order at 5 23pm and didn't get it until 5 40 PM it should have been dropped when ordered or told it was going to take 20 or so minutes before it would be ready.

I usually stop and get the fish and was always pleased. However, when I stopped by today 6/30/22 late afternoon, the fish was not as good as before. It was actually rubbery from sitting under the hot light . So disappointing 😟 I would have waited for some fresh fish if asked .

Ordered 2 piece catfish. Told me it would take 6 minutes I sat my car for 25 minutes waiting for for them to bring it out to me. I finally had to call them and asked where my food was. And it's too spicy I didn't ask for spicy

Always check your order before pulling away!!! My family orders from here almost weekly the food is good, they just don't pay attention or try to get the orders right. We always have to go in or back through the drive thru to get the missed items, and never get the condiments requested.

Honestly, I'm to the point that I'm just going to quit going here and go all the way to Cleburne to Popeye's Chicken, and my food just be cold. every time I go they mess my order up the last time I went there was only one roll in the whole order the time before that I told the person taking the order five different times what I needed I finally just said you know what it's fine when I got to the drive-thru window the person there wanted to repeat my order make sure it was right I told him no it's not right it wasn't right when I ordered it when I told the person five times I'm tired I'm hungry it's right enough so every time I go to the Alvarado Chicken Express something is wrong with the order.

This new AI ordering system they’ve put in place at this location is Stupid and slows down what’s normally a pretty long wait anyway!!! Absolute worst decision they could’ve made!

Walk-in, 3rd time now bad experience. This time Family (2) Okra and (2) Mashed Potato was left out of order and was replaced with (3) Family gravy and (1) small gravies. Server: C Tuttle Ck#1044 11/16/24 @ 5:45p.m. We spend around $70. to $80.00 every time we go to Chicken Express- this is ridicilous for the service. Chicken, pies, and bread was good.

Well this Chicken Express has joined the ranks of the rest of the lousy fast food joints in Alvarado. Disorganized, not having what you want, not getting what you ordered and breaking promises. Asked for 8 piece family meal. Asked for all dark, again no legs and only 7 thighs, ended up with a wing because no breasts either. Comes with a family side, I asked for mashed potatoes and an extra side of potatoes. Only got one, didn't get charged for two but still. Didn't get the half dozen rolls that were supposed to be with the order. Disorganized as in the lack of mixed chicken pieces during dinner hours but had a full tray of chicken tenders that I am sure were being overcooked because the pieces were so close to the warming lights. Broken Promise, didn't get the military discount because the cashier couldn't get a manager to put in a code. If didn't have two bags of ice melting in the truck I would have waited. The excuse of not enough staff? I counted 8 stumbling and bumping into each other. Should have recorded for the laugh later. Sigh, Alvarado is so full of this type of food service it's getting harder to find a place in town.

Tenders are always dry and by the taste of them they have been sitting under heat lamp for some time. For the price I could get a fresh made to order pizza for $10.00. This store needs to take more pride in the quality of there food. I have no problem paying $13 for a #2. But I expect it to be fresh. Better yet edible!!

Went to chicken E tonight in Alvarado, TX. They forgot to give me my poppers and an order of French fries. I ordered a 18 piece gizzard and only got 12. Terrible service! Will not be back after this time. Happens too often.

Food was good. Taking of the order was awesome. Getting the order took 35 minutes. We were in the drive thru and 7 cars behind us were taken care of ( we were at the window) before they told us to pull over to spot 1. Yes I was not happy.

AVOID THIS LOCATION Someone spit in my fries last night. Manager was completely silent on the phone. Chicken Express is a franchise and does not have any corporate number or accountability of any kind for these situations. Keep yourself and your family safe and don't let some pathetic drive-through employee intentionally give you Covid.

That was our last visit at chicken E. Absolutely the worst. I ask for livers which the guy was standing right in front of them. He said they were too old to serve. Did they turn too old just as I ask for them?? They were old but still under the light until I asked and they went str8 to the trash. No gravy included in meal and the other meal had no roll. And the Cole slaw was warm! Never again

Poor Staffing! Management and Staff needs lots of improvement. I ordered food from them and had told them I wanted all biscuits with my orders and yet they put rolls instead of biscuits. Usually have good experiences here but this time I had to wait behind people ordering food and usually if you just border a tea they will bring it out. This time the kid working told me it was raining and when I said hey you have a covered walkway there... he just ignored me. Hope customer service isnt his future plans. Lol

They immediately break their own policies yet start badgering and calling hard working elderly bad names, makes up lies, then fires you if your sick even under a Dr care WITH Dr documentations. ABSOLUTELY WORSE COMPANY THIS VETERAN WORKER OF 42 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO MEET!

Just had take out from here and the rolls tasted like they sprayed cleaner on them I had a weird nasty taste in my mouth and felt like a cooling weird sensation. Will not be eating here again and I hope me and my family don't get sick or poisoned from this food.

Oh my Gosh it was the nastiest restaurant I’ve ever been in, after getting out of church on Sunday I thought I’d stop to get everyone dinner, got there and had to run into the restroom before placing my order and thank God I did, working in fast food and restaurants I’ve learned that you can learn a lot about a kitchen by the looks of their bathroom, big strike one, trash all over the floors and the toilet was turning black, it was a yikes moment but I went a head and walked around the corner into the dinning area, that was all I needed to see and I turned around and left, I drove to burleson to the chicken express there, from the moment you walked through their doors you could see the difference immediately, it was clean from the door on and very welcoming, decorated and and clean the difference between the two restaurants was amazing, I will never step foot into the alverado restaurant again and I’ll warn anyone I know, I’m amazed the health department hasn’t closed them down, management should be ashamed.

It seems as if every time we go to this location, our experience is NOT good. Ordered gizzards..Waited 7-10 mins, ended up with livers. Manager said she would replace order. Go back a couple days later (today), wait the 7-10 minutes (which I am ok with waiting), and the gizzards are burnt. I'm sure they put chicken in box while waiting on gizzards, so chicken was cold. Highly disappointed and DO NOT RECOMMEND. Will not be returning to this location.

Went there about 6pm 4/5/23... Ordered 3 fish and tenders... Wife ask them to drop fish fresh.. not fresh last time there.. manager.. gave wife hard time about it. Waited 20 min for fresh fish.. got barely warm.. definitely not fresh fish.. felt like some kind of punishment 😳

20 tenders, 4 pcs chicken, 3 pcs fish, 1 corn on the cob...... $67. And the hired help is almost boasting about the outrageous prices. I've eaten my LAST chicken express.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!! I waited well over 30 minutes for chicken. The staff was nice, but come on! I can see hundreds of pieces of chicken but they can’t make it into the box?

Got to the counter to order and the older lady was talking over us guessing our order while we were trying to tell her what we wanted to order. We purchased a large family meal. Our total was about $70-$80. It’s been several times including today that we have mentioned “we would like serendipity sauce” today, they told us they ran out of spicy one, and that they had the mild sauce; and they did not put ANY serendipity sauce in with our to go order even after we requested it.

I called in an order for 2 catfish dinners because I knew it took a while to cook so 10 minutes before I got there I made the call then had to wait and 20 minutes in stall #1 finally I called them and a lady named Rose answered the phone and said it would be another 6.5 minutes then came out about 1 minute later and said it was under the heat lamp she was very nice and offered a gallon of sweet tea which was very nice of her and when I got home the fish was spicy so we couldn't eat it. 35.00 for 2 fish dinners and didn't order spicy but that was what we got. I won't ever return to this chicken express.

I went to Chicken Express and the manager tonight told me it would take forty minutes to fry up some dark meat. I asked if I can have what’s left of the dark meat and if they can replace the rest of the dark with white and was told no because the price wouldn’t be right. So I was essentially denied service more than a half an hour before closing. The employees were shaking their heads when the manager said it would take this long. In other words, he wanted me to go away and have the staff continue cleaning. Either change the hours or actually serve people until the stated time of closing.

This is the absolutely worst service I’ve ever seen. They took 45 min to get my order. I waited at the line for 20 min. Then when I got to the window they shed if my order was sos and so. I said no. Then they proceeded to take orders to 6 cars behind me while not even acknowledging me at the window. Then I watched as they picked up a box on top of a trash can that I had noticed was sitting there the whole time. I asked how in the world I had to wait all that time and they couldn’t even apologize. I said that food has been sitting there the whole time and now 20 min later you want to hand me cold food that has been sitting on a trash can? And she proceeded to lie to me about it. Saying it was just now there. I was there at the window the whole time! I watched it sit there the whole time they were walking out handing other vehicles behind me their orders! DO NOT GO HERE EVER!!!!!,!

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. We ordered a 7 piece tender box with fries. After having drove off, we realized they gave us a 4 piece box and no fries. We came back to get the right food, and when they gave it to us it was cold and the fries were stale. The manager made no effort in making things right or even an apology for giving us the wrong food, then cold food. They gave us our money back and we went elsewhere.

The place is a joke out of mashed potatoes 20 minutes to wait for the chicken. I was like screw this and left. What’s the purpose of having a chicken restaurant if your customers have to wait in the drive-through for 20 minutes and you’re completely out out of a side…

I ask if the orka was fresh, and they said they just dropped it. What they did was refried what they had and burnt it, I returned it, got Mac and cheese and it was cold, ask for all dark meat and got a thigh and breast, it was a waste of my money and a horrible customer experience, I ask the manager why she would serve burnt orka (she dished it) and she said “I don’t know” ….really?

I have lived here in Alvarado for 5 years now, I fully want to support our local businesses. I cannot continue to support Chicken Express. My family and I usually have chicken twice monthly, at first I would just go thru the drive and they would get parts of my order wrong. I continued to use this establishment anyway, hoping it was just a bad day or a one off exception. I started to order online, giving hours of advance notice to prevent any miscues, still missing parts of my order. I chose to give them yet another chance, only to be horribly dissappointed yet again. We ordered a 16 piece family meal, when you order online, it gives you options for which pieces you would like, we chose mostly thighs and legs with a couple of breasts and wings to equal 16 pieces. When we get home and find that there are of 16 pieces almost half of them being wings. For the price we paid and almost half of our order is wings. Last straw, will not spend another dime with them.

So if you want chicken that tastes just ok, and sides without any flavor that take 40 minutes to get this is the best chicken express for that! They took so long without any line to speak of, they messed up my order forcing me to drive back to get my fries and I was a fool to not check my bank account info but they wrongly charged me too, I was only supposed to pay $16.14 but I was charged for $25 and im too far away right now to deal with it. Avoid this chicken express the best you can, don't let them being one of the only chicken restaurants around there trick you.

Second time I’ve been here hours before closing and the chicken has been sitting out dry as hell under a heat lamp for hours. I don’t understand if you are gonna drop fries consistently why not chicken too. Is it too much work for the staff? Get rid of the chicken express license if you’re gonna be trash. Also when I get up to order and you say regular or spicy and I say spicy then you say it’s gonna take 8 min to make spicy tenders why are we even offering it right now then!?!?!? Regular chicken sitting there for hours spicy chicken takes 8 min. A joke of a chicken express I see why it never has a line anymore.

If I could give no stars, I would. It first started with my drink. I finished my tea to only find a clump of hair in my cup. Then we finally get our food after waiting 30 minutes and my gizzards were undercooked. The manager then had the nerve to tell me that my husband lied to her about ordering a gallon of tea when it was sitting in front of her on the table. She began to ask me personal questions about my family in public. The entire visit was a disaster. Like come on have and some integrity for other people’s money when they are buy from you. Oh, and to top it all off. The skinny Caucasian chick working in the front counter Was extremely rude our entire visit she basically threw hot sauce at my husband.

This location has a problem. Today was the 5th visit in a row over the past month that the staff has left items off of my order. Every time, the receipt is correct, but the staff does not put what is listed in the bag. Each time, the orders have been through the drive-thru. Today, they did not give the 6 pack of tiles, the leg in the #3, and the okra. Last time, the wrong sides were given on all 4 combos ordered. I just don't understand the lack of QC before handing a bag of food to a customer. I understand mistakes happen. Once or twice, sure. But 5 times in a row? That has to be some kind of record.

It's been a few months since I've eaten here. The food is usually pretty good. However, today wasn't. I ordered the tenders and I was surprised when I opened the box. It looked like a kids' meal. The tenders were 3 inches long and scrawny. There were so few fries that I could count them. (16) Is this the new normal? Guess if I want chicken, I'll have to go to Burleson or Cleburne from now on.

I love the fried pickles at Chicken Express and this is the reason I go there. Sadly, anytime I go to the Alvarado location, they always tell me they don’t have pickles. It doesn’t matter what time I show up… Most times they say they don’t have any. Sometimes I leave without placing an order because the perfect side for my chicken is the pickles. Also, most times we don’t get napkins in our bag. Please fix this issue. Order more pickles or idk do something. Thanks

Dog hair on the food! DISGUSTING! I don’t know the young lady’s name. But I walked in to get a refund for my food that had dog hair on it as the picture shows below and the young white lady with a cardigan on while preparing the food yelled at one of her employees in the kitchen. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I would like to know why employees have their personal jackets or cardigans on while preparing peoples food!
