Opinions de il Buco al Mare Amagansett
il Buco al Mare is a warm and inviting restaurant with fantastic food. Every dish we had a stellar. The charred prawns were super fresh and flavorful. The forest mushroom ancient grain focaccia was hearty and autumnal. The Chardonnay vinegar used with the Broccolini gave a really good tang to complement the char on the vegetable. We also ordered the spaghetti with clams special. It was an interesting version which included saffron threads. Super tasty. Would absolutely return to repeat several dishes and explore more of the menu.
I had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful dinner with a friend at this establishment. The ambiance and aesthetic of the restaurant were truly inviting and comfortable. Our waitress, Maria, was exceptionally welcoming, kind, and attentive throughout our visit. I began my meal with a Rob Roy, which was crafted to perfection. For an appetizer, I followed Maria's recommendation and tried the special Focaccia of the evening. It featured a delightful pesto sauce with pieces of andouille, and it was absolutely exquisite. For my main course, I selected the Black Garlic Skirt Steak, accompanied by a side of charred candied rainbow carrots. The steak was cooked to a flawless medium, and its flavors were utterly delicious. The carrots had an ideal char and were bursting with flavor. To conclude my meal, I ordered the panna cotta, which, unfortunately, was quite underwhelming, especially considering the superb quality and attention to detail evident in all our other dishes. Overall, the experience and the food here were amazing. I extend a huge thank you to Maria, who made our experience truly wonderful and enjoyable.
Excellent food, the chef knows what she’s doing. I recommend the burrata, carrots, corn, and steak. For dessert I tried the chocolate cake, it was deliciously sweet. Surprisingly great espresso, too. The service is great, very kind bartenders and servers. The manager is a great guy, very accommodating and kind. Il buco is my favorite place to visit every time I visit Amagansett.
I’ve enjoyed many wonderful meals at the original il Buco in Noho, Manhattan, and al Mare in Amagansett now has another piece of my heart. The verdant setting, the rustic modern interior design, the attentive and friendly service, and, WOW, the food all blended perfectly. Brava! We arrived hungry on a rainy Friday night and ordered a quarter of the menu, then returned the next day to enjoy brunch al fresco. The dinner standouts: local fluke crudo + oysters, mushroom focaccia, casarecce, crispy cannellini beans, seared duck, fruit pie. And, I could’ve dined solely on the gourmet tins and been happy; pick whichever sounds appetizing and you can’t go wrong. For lunch, more focaccia (!), Burrata, and their bucatini cacio e pepe is among the best pasta you’ll ever have. I have some dietary restrictions and the chef helped make it a incredible meal for us. Grazie mille!
We had a fantastic time here. The atmosphere was kind of edgy (in a fun way) compared to normal Italian places. They played 80s rock mostly and the waiters were lively and fun. The food was stellar. The tinned items were unique to try, and while they weren't a hit with the whole party, they were really interesting and enjoyable nonetheless. The pasta, small, and main plates were amazing and everyone loved everything we ordered. Each dish is well crafted with a stand out flavor profile. Even the veggies were exciting and delicious. And the cocktails were awesome as well. Overall our experience was exceptional. We would return in a heart beat.
Food was delicious, starting from prawns to the steak that was cooked to perfection, with that tomato salad and buckwheat bread to dip it in, OMG, it was an experience. Paired perfect with a carafe of red that Maria the bartender reccomended. Great spot, will be back for sure.
So many things to love about this place… the succulent grilled prawns, the burrata and cherries, the dog-friendliness inside and out, the fresh oysters, the mushroom focaccia, the chocolate cake, and the kindest servers. Totally coming back and can’t wait. 5 stars!!!!
Visited all the way from Texas and it was well worth it. The walk from the train station is absolutely adorable and then you get to il Buco and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The inside of the restaurant has a very warm and cozy feeling. The staff was incredible and so friendly and attentive. We sat in the garden area and it was also very beautiful and felt amazing outside. The food was just amazing. I thought it would be smaller portions so I was happily surprised to see the portion of some the meals ! The mussels in the tin were a personal favorite. I wish I could take this restaurant back to Dallas with me.
We had a fabulous lunch here two days ago. Melissa and Marianna welcomed us like we were old friend’s. We trusted Melissa with all her suggestions from the menu and boy we are so glad we did. Every dish was superb!!! My husband and I have been talking about going back this week again. It was that good!!! Please keep up the good work!
This place is quite popular in the area and for good reason. My favorite dish was the razor clams, which are hard to find and absolutely delicious. The service is excellent, and the ambiance is lovely. I visited during a quiet afternoon, which made the experience even better. Their coffee is also really good.⬤
Spectacular food and service. Razor clams and whole fluke were especially notable. Great vibe and location.
We had an excellent lunch at Il Buco.. the chicory salad was delicious and the margarita pizza on Foccacia was very good. It was a little more bready than I would have liked but it was yummy. The service was some of the best we had while visiting the area and they treated our service dog very kindly unlike other restaurants and shops in the area where people were very rude. Highly recommend. I didn’t get a picture of my salad but it was beautifullly presented.

My mom and I decided to have a girls day and go to the Hamptons. We stop by II Buco al Mare for lunch and it was well worth it. We sit near the bar it was such a cozy, classy atmosphere throughout the whole restaurant. The burrata, carrots, corn, and steak that I had was delicious and so was chocolate cake. My mom and I can't wait to go back!

Amazing food. So much so we came back twice during our trip to the area. Service was a bit impersonal and slow the first night, but the second night our server Max took care of us and we had a great experience. Get the margherita focaccia, crispy canellini beans, and skirt steak. You won’t be disappointed. Seating is a bit tight, but the ambiance is lovely. We will definitely be back!
Really delicious- the atmosphere and food quality was amazing. My favorite was either the octopus or the steak but overall well done. A little hectic on the service at first but chad stepped up and was wonderful. Overall very nice and delicious
Quality of food and ambiance is up to il Buco standard, with nicely curated menu and balanced flavors highlighting fresh, seasonal ingredients. The focaccia pizza, burrata appetizer and the prawns are great, and save room for the signature panne cotta with balsamic vinegar. Unfortunately, service during lunch was a bit slow and careless.
The only reason this is not a five star review is that after mouth watering starters (grilled shrimp, steamed clams, tomatoes and peach salad), our main (fluke in anchovy butter) was overly salty. This is a classic dish and anchovies are salty, but this one promised to be amazing on being served, but it was not edible without scrapping off the skin and sauce. Aside from this one failure, everything was perfect. Delicious food, clams and shrimp had such tasty broth and sauce, both were fully mopped up with toasted baguette.

This is a fabulous restaurant. The whole fish is so delicious...very flavorful and flaky. The prawns are to die for as are the cannelli beans. We were not crazy about the steak. It was very thin and dry even though we ordered it medium and there wasn't much of it. Excellent service...we felt very taken care of. Atmosphere is lovely. Bustling but not too loud. We had a wonderful evening!

Il Buco is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a charming outdoor terrace at the back. Unfortunately, our visit on September 19th around 1pm was not as enjoyable as we had hoped. Inside, it was simply too loud due to a large group celebrating, which made it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. Service was mixed, Alejandra took care of us politely, though nothing stood out as exceptional. This was still better than the other server working that day, who sadly did not seem suited for the role. The food was good, but again, not outstanding. For the Long Island prices charged, I expected a bit more in both quality and service. Overall, it was an average experience, falling short of the high expectations set by the restaurant’s beautiful setting.

Overhyped, overcrowded place (everyone is on top of each other, constantly pushed or touched). All the food we ordered was too salty or too spicy or overcooked. Couldn’t even taste the steak , it was all covered with spices , sauce and unchewable. Usually when something is bad you try to cover it with spices/sauces. Had 3 bites and sent it back. We were missing 2 steaks, burrata , drinks constantly. Do not recommend for a dinner, maybe just drinks at the bar.
I’ll preface my review by noting the food was Really good. We decided to have our NYE meal here because we heard great reviews about the spot in NYC. Generally, the food and the service were fine; however, because we arrived 30 min late, the manager pushed our food out (set menu) before we got our drinks. It was obvious he wanted us out as quickly as possible since the time was nearing midnight. The waiter tried to make up for it by giving us a bottle of bubbly, but the mood was already off. Finally, when we asked where we could go to spend New Years, the waiter said he just received a text message saying the pizza spot on the stretch was “packed.” After the check was brought out - before finishing our dessert - we rushed to the pizza spot. When we arrived we immediately realized the waiter LIED. The pizza spot was closed; we ended spending New Years in the car. Woohoo. ***This review reflects my opinion and not that of the people I was with.***
