Went to the opening night of the newly improved Malcolms and it was a 10 out of 10. Loved the remodel and the food is delicious. The chicken friend steak sandwich is out of this world. Great place to take your family for lunch and dinner. Great Job to the new owners for keeping the dinner feel and enhancing the experience.

The hamburgers and sandwiches were fantastic, followed up with old fashioned shakes and sundaes! Malcom's is generous with their food and shakes which makes it even more enjoyable. Our waiter was fantastic and our experience was even more enjoyable because he seemed like he really enjoyed being there. It made for a very relaxing afternoon lunch and we will definitely be back!

Reliably good. Chicken fried steak always a good choice here. Reasonably sized portion with cream gravy and fries. Side salad of fresh crisp iceberg with tomatoes and cucumbers. Fast, friendly service. One of the first places I eat when in Amarillo.

The waitstaff is alwayd very friendly, the food is very delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming and homey. The vintage signs and decoration looks very nice. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this lovely diner. I would definitely recommend to anyone in Amarillo or passing through!

The small town diner feel with an excellent selection of flavorful sandwiches and comfort food is complimented by the friendly, professional staff. I usually get the Reuben since it's one of the best in Amarillo. I've never gotten an ice cream treat but they've got to be good with the selection they have. They accommodated our larger group by rearranging tables.

Heard about this place thru friends so thought we'd give it a try. I was really glad we did. Our waitress was super friendly, and the food was excellent. These guys really make a great good old fashion hamburger! Don't waste your time going anywhere else if that's what you're looking for. They have amazing sandwiches as well. As far as the ice cream goes, they have a very good selection of choices and have the big name franchises beat hands down in that department. Give em a try!

This place is amazing! The food was excellent, the service outstanding, and the prices were great, too. We were celebrating my kid's birthday and she wanted ice cream. I was informed that Malcolm's was the best place in town. They were correct. During one of her many trips back to us, the server said,"alright, I'll just be back there making ice cream." It was so good. I definitely will want to come back here again.

I would give them ten stars, the best burger I have ever had and I am 63 years young. My husband also says it's the best he has had and he is 78 years young. The burgers are had made not frozen patties. Great ice cream made in house, must try the moose tracks ice cream. Great service and we will definitely be back soon.

I've lived within 0.2 miles of this place for three years.... Never had any reason not to go there, they keep a very exceptional establishment and parking area. Went there today, and not only was the staff available and accommodating but they went above and beyond the social requirements of an exceptional burger! I would bet that the steak fingers had never seen the inside of a freezer!! The gravy was like my great grandma made it from heaven and I think now I'm addicted!! 🥰 I haven't even tried the ice cream 🍨🍧 There was a homeless man that I wanted to approach and they assured me they would feed him. Beautiful people, clean environment, excellent prices. I recommend you try this place!!

Absolutely fantastic service AND food. Went with the whole family. Everyone was delighted with the cost and quality of the food. I had the most amazing Patty Melt with bacon and jalapeños, I just HAD to go to the grill, and Lauren was just amazingly nice and didn't smell like a greasy spoon! She smelt like fresh cut lilacs and brand new leather shoes. The fries were "bomb-diggity". I will definitely come back here again.

The service was excellent. Our server anticipated the need for a menu to stay at the table for desert options. My girlfriends burger was a little pink in the middle so ask to have it well done. Will be returning soon.

I have never had a bad experience here! Food has always been great, and the portions are large! And the waitresses have always been very friendly! I have even had dinner someplace else, and came here after just for dessert! Their ice cream options are amazing, and cover one entire side of their menu! One of my favorite places to eat! We went to Malcom's Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised and their remodel of the place since it had been quite awhile since we had been there. VERY nice! Such a nice clean restaurant, excellent waitress staff. The menu appeared to be the same but the food we got was outstanding and delicious. We then tried the Butterscotch Sunday to see if it still had the coldest ice cream in town and it DID! Malcom's is the only place it town that has butterscotch! We are so pleased that Malcom's has reopened!

Tonight was my wife's and I first time to eat here. I immediately fell in love as soon as I walked through the door. With all the hustle and bustle and fast pace life we live, you walk in and everything slows down. The classic oldies Temptations, Beach Boys, Dean Martin, ect transports you to another time. The salad was bomb. The lettuce was fresh. I myself had the bacon cheeseburger and you could taste the love and homemade old fashioned flavor. The pinball machines is the perfect way to end a date night. Don't sleep on this place it is definitely going to become a new favorite

This place is great! The sandwich was great! The server was on point, but the GM Christina is phenomenal. She was so friendly and really had this place running like a well oiled machine. I don't know what she gets paid, but it's definitely not enough.

This place has some really great food! I chose the tuna sandwich fondue (I believe that’s what it was called) and my husband got the egg salad sandwich. They were fantastic! He said it’s probably the best egg salad sandwich he’s had so far. The tuna sandwich was perfectly toasted and all the ingredients just blended together. Then we all had their ice cream which was also delicious! Will definitely have to go back!

We had a fantastic lunch at Malcolm’s Ice Cream & Food, and it definitely lived up to the small-town diner charm we were hoping for. First off, shoutout to Erika—her service was exceptional! She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home, even as the place started to get busy. We tried a range of menu items, and everything hit the spot. The burgers were excellent—fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The fries were crisp and golden, exactly how you want diner-style fries to be. The country fried steak was tender and flavorful, though the gravy was a little heavy-handed—if you like it smothered, you’ll love it. The BLT was another standout—crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and perfectly toasted bread made it one of the best we’ve had on the trip. We wrapped up the meal with ice cream, which was a sweet finale—literally and figuratively. Be warned: one scoop is more like three! Rich, creamy, and served in a classic sundae glass, it’s hard to beat. Malcolm’s is the kind of place where locals eat, service shines, and the food makes you smile. Let me explain. The new owners have brought this. Has taken it back to the original owner ways with his ways sprinkled in. Was not impressed with the old owner. This new owner has made the food an amazing experience. I have come when they were so busy I didn’t mind waiting. Yes you wait a bit for your food. But this is not fast food. This is 50 style. They just changed their fries. That’s a winner. We even added a sundae. I enjoyed this so much. My new go to place. Even if you have to wait please be patient. The quality is so worth the wait I would have taken a picture of my food but it was so delicious I couldn’t wait for a picture

Plus you have to try the jalapeño chicken bites, not spicy but the flavor is delicious. The mini ice creams come in different flavors and they have a large selection of your favorite ice cream to choice from.

The service was excellent and the ice cream was delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors. I got a cherry soda with a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream on top called a sidecar. It was a delicious chocolate cherry combination and completely satisfied my ice cream and Sweet Tooth craving. The atmosphere is very interesting with lots of antiques all over the walls. I'm not from the area but I understand this place has been here for many years and gone through generations of families that have come here for ice cream. I hope to make it back to try the food before I leave town.

My wife and I ate here for lunch. Service was great and the food as well. I had the spicy chicken bites and she had the Patty melt. Ice cream is always great but today we didn't have any.

I have a review over Calico county and it is essentially the same aspect there as well as with here. It gives you a very unique and personal vibe this one being less homey and southern and being more of a 40's to 50's feeling. The people tend to be very kind here and unlike Calico county the food quality has not diminished over time. The ice cream is all fantastic and the actual food is wide in variety. If you want classic true American food then this is your stop no doubt.

The steak fingers, chicken strips and chicken bits are all excellent! So are the burgers and they have a huge selection of sandwiches to boot. Their chocolate malts are super good. Served old fashioned style with refill in metal containers like the old drug store soda fountains. Service is friendly and always helpful. Try it, you'll love it and will want to return!

Wow! I been providing Google reviews for about five years and this place is in my top 10. Our server John was very attentive which is a joy in this Covid age. The kitchen was a tad slow, but I am good with that when my food is being freshly made. Everything came to the table as ordered and hot! Supposedly Malcolm's is known for its ice cream so my wife and son opted for the "Hot fudge cake" and I'm glad they decided to share because this thing covered every bit of a 8" plate. Only advice chill plates or cups you place ice cream or whipped cream in so it holds up better on the serving plate. Good food. Nice people. We are here most Sundays for lunch. The building could use a good scrubbing. Update 06-25-2017. My family likes this place. We usually go out for lunch after church. The service has gone downhill. Waited for quite a while to get a table for 5. No one was paying attention. They leave it up to the wait staff to get you a table. Several groups got a table. We finally had to leave. Don't go if you have more than 4 people. The place still needs a good scrubbing. I plan to find other places to get lunch on Sunday afternoon.

The food was good, but the ice cream was small compared to the prices. I ordered to go and I was missing the kids meal so I had to drive all the way back for it and the manager offered nothing for the trouble. So check your To go bags carefully, and skip the ice cream and go to Braum's. You'll get more bang for your buck.

Love this place and not knocking it at all just i don't know how to tell the waiter to wash her hands. The finger nails are dark and she is touching everyone's plates after they eat as well as serving peoples plates as well.

This is a local restaurant that is very delicious and reasonably priced. I always love to support local businesses. Nice little old school mom & pop diner. I would say 5 stars but the previous owners recently retired and it lost most of the retro decor that made it special. The atmosphere isn't totally gone though and the food has thankfully remained largely the same. However, the ice cream took a hit - it's not bad but it doesn't have that 'homemade' taste anymore, kinda just tastes like blue bell.

Happened across this restaurant by chance. I was glad we stopped in as the food was good and the prices are great. Restaurant is decorated with nostalgic signs and antiques. Ordered a patty melt and chocolate malt. The malt was good and for a junior size it was pretty big. They have a full size in which they bring the metal mixing cup over with the leftover but it would've been way too much malt for me lol. The party melt was surprisingly good. We also ordered bacon cheese fries to go with our orders. Lots of bacon but not much cheese. Came with a side of ranch. Fries were good; regular size & not extra thick. Service was so-so and interior could use a fresh coat of paint. Still if you want good food at a great price I'd stop in. Next time I'm in the area I'll probably return (the chicken fried steak sounded good 😉).

New ownership! Really big improvement! Appears to be the same menu which made me happy. Had a cup of broccoli soup. Very Hot they way I like it. Perfect amount of broccoli and cheese making the taste superb. Also the club. Bacon cooked perfect. Meat fresh. Nice layer of mayo with the right slice of tomato. Bread toasted very evenly. Fries nice and fresh very tasty. The owner came by and checked on us. The server was on top of everything. Was like she was my big sister. She really cared. I think I'll go back tomorrow just because. And of course hot fudge cake. YUMMY!

I’ve always loved Malcolm’s! My family has been coming here since I was a kid. The service is always fantastic, and the staff is so nice. I know the restaurant came under new ownership some time ago, and it seems they’ve definitely made some positive improvements. However, in the past when I’ve gone, they had gluten free bread as an option for those of us who can’t have regular bread. Unfortunately, it seems they’ve gotten rid of it between then and the most recent time I’ve gone. There’s still other options available to me, but I sincerely hope ownership can reconsider adding gluten free bread back as an option, not just for me, but all the others I know live here in Amarillo with a gluten allergy. I want so badly to enjoy a club sandwich! Otherwise, I still definitely recommend giving Malcolm’s a try. Great food, and great ice cream!

Love the nostalgia of this place. From the views inside to the food served. The establishment was clean and busy. Service was okay. We went there specifically for steak fingers. We were a party of 5 and tables were limited. Me and the hubs had the steak fingers, soup, and salad. The kiddos had chicken fingers. Portions looked small but were actually quite filling. Plus we had to save room for dessert. Dessert was the cherry on top of a pleasant experience. We will definitely go again when the need for steak fingers or a banana split strikes again.

Simple food at decent prices. Fresh, good quailty products. The grilled ham and cheese was nice and hot. Could you more ham but otherwise good. French fries hot and fresh. Corn beef was hot and cheese was super melty. Tuna melt was ok. The bread and cheese were hot but they did not warm the tuna on it. Needs to be hot as well. The restaurant was very clean. Ranch definitely homemade. Very good.

Food is ok, service level has dropped off within the last year. Menu is classic American fare, sandwiches, burgers, and soup if they decide to make any. Employees see usually more concerned with tasks than service.

We love this place! It is a little different now that they were bought out and have a new owner. The food is good, the ice cream amazing. I would have rated them 5 stars...but then I recently got my ticket with the charges. If you get a burger, it comes with your choice of side (French fries or potato chips). I decided to ask for cottage cheese instead of my choice of potato product, as I'm watching my figure. On their menu, fries cost almost $3...whereas Cottage Cheese is only $2...so I'm saving them money by choosing something that cost less. When I got my ticket, I noticed a "Sub Fee" of $1. When I inquired, I was told it was for replacing fries with cottage cheese. I literally just saved them money...but being penalized for it. WOW, new owners...WOW! Can we at least be transparent about your hidden fees?!

If I didn’t love the place so much, I would’ve probably gave them O stars. However, I just love this place. Please please please quit putting the french fries under the warmer until the sandwiches are ready. It’s disgusting. Especially when you touch the top of the fries with your hand to see if they’re still hot. I don’t like that. And please quit putting the cold fries back in the grease to re-warm them. It’s disgusting. It doesn’t taste good and I know that’s what happened to our food last night because I seen it with my own eyes.

Server was nice when she came over. People all around us were ordering and getting their food before she ever came to our table. Then forgot half our order so we had to wait again. Food was greasy, lukewarm, and nothing special.

I like to take my grandkids here for the ice cream selection, but the few times I have been there twice they got the sit down food wrong as well as the take out order. When I told the waitress the take out order was wrong, she argued with me about my order. Hello, I ordered a hamburger to go, how could I be wrong when there was a ham sandwich in there instead. On another occasion we sat and waited for like 15 minutes before we were waited on because they were to busy chatting at the pay out counter. Then just the other day we ordered the bacon cheese fries and we were very disappointed. It was a pile of fries with sandwich cheese sliced sporadically and it wasn't even melted. Our food was cold. The burger was good, but not hot, and I had already said something about the cheese fries so I didn't want to bring up the cold food. The tables are always sticky and dirty. The bathrooms smell. My girls did enjoyed their ice cream. I took a picture of the bacon, cheese fries because I was at ahhh about it, even after I mentioned it to them, they said they probably couldn't do anything about it. They brought out a different order, but it was still the same thing. Ugh! 🤦They need to to Hummers and take a look at their bacon cheese fries, now those are bacon cheese fries.

I've only tried Malcolm's twice, and it's been awhile since I have been there so maybe it has gotten better. But both times I went I had the same negative experience. Both times I ordered 2 cheese burgers and 2 fries. Both times I waited over 20 minutes to get the food even though it was 3pm on a weekday and I was the only one there. The dining room tables and floor were dirty and the waitress didn't say hello when I walked in or thank you when I left.

Went in last night ( Fri.6/14/19 ) a round 8:30 were told sit anywhere place wasn't really busy, my wife and I took a sit up front and waited, two waitresses were standing at the computer as you walk in not serving anyone another young waitress was serving 3 tables beside us off and on she walked by 4 times and never offered a menu or even spoke,another young waitress walked by and started refilling condiments at other tables never acknowledged us finally after 15 min. the young waitress serving the 3 tables beside us walked over to the table in front of us where a couple had already been served and had been enjoying their meal since we arrived she looked at us and said I'll be with you in a minute [ we got up and left ] worst service I have ever experienced.

Usually love this place but they really dropped the ball today. Waited on my to go order for almost 30 minutes at the restaurant. It was sitting on the shelf the whole time. Food was not warm and fresh. Instead cold and greasy! They offered to remake my order but I wasn’t about to wait any longer. I understand being busy but hire more help and take care of your customers. Order wasn’t even right when I got home. Very disappointed!!!

Service was not up to speed yet after reopening. Had to wait for them to clean a table for us, even though there were plenty of clean ones close by. Didn’t give us menus. Was dancing and chatting it up behind counter instead of waiting on us Needless to say we left after several minutes of waiting.1

I sat for 30 minutes with my family and was never waited on. There were 3 tables that came after us, and they were all waited on in a timely manner. And we were sitting there and the waitress were looking at us. And never once did they ask us if they could help us? I wouldn't recommend going there. Their service is very poorly.

We stopped to get ice cream to-go at 8:54pm and were told they close at 9pm, which we were aware of before we went. We were there with 5 minutes to spare they wouldn't serve us even though there were people eating in the restaurant. I could understand if we were trying to sit down and eat, but we weren't. But, I guess that's to be expected when kids are running the show.

Don't know how anything was. Sat 20 mins and people that came in right after already got there food and we couldn't even get a drink order. Not even a waitresses out of all 4 there wouldn't even come to the table but all would sit there and stare at us. All were just walking around. So asked for the manager and talked to Ericka and told her about it and all I could get was I am sorry about it. Come to find out our waitress was named maddie. So if you have a server named Maddie don't plan on being waited on. Had to end up leaving bc of no service. No point in just sitting there when I have a kid to feed.WORST SERVICE EVER IN AMARILLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the French dip, the meat look like I can buy it at the store (the lunch meat), no seasoning no cheese. It is so dry. It's sad to say but Arby's french dip sandwich is way better

had a patty melt, and chicken fried steak. the patty melt was subpar like it was made from a frozen patty. the chicken fried steak was tuff to cut subpar too 1$ up charge for a salad for the patty melt, salad did come with the chicken fried steak was just lettuce and tomato filled half the bowl had ice cream seemed to be soft serve in a tall glass with your toppings. was 50$ for all that with 2 drinks for that price i expected good old fashion portions and hand-crafted patties and chicken fried steak.

We are frequent customers at this restaurant. That being said, it will definitely be a long time before we return. After being seated and given our drinks, our waitress never came back to take our order. After 15 mins, I asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave. The manager was not the friendliest. Told me they were never rung up and then kept making excuses. They were so "busy", the staff had time to have conversations and play on their phones. The manager even walked by multiple times without even checking on us. Never have I ever been so displeased with the staff at one of my favorite establishments. Customer service needs an upgrade.

I had never tried your restaurant, and when I saw your menu, I was excited. After sitting at our table for almost a half an hour without ANY service. We got up and left. I appreciate whoever chased us out into the parking lot to offer us a free meal, but you should have had that hustle when we walked in. Pretty disappointed going back to Malcolm’s once again after getting them a 2nd chance ! All the servers were just standing around not doing anything but 1 server she pretty tall she the only one that was doing anything ! The cooks were slammed back there with only 2 of them while the owner or whatever he is was just standing around on his phone leaning on the counters. Friday night should have been one of the good nights for great service but instead we got the opposite our server was rude and she was the same server we had last time she young and she just rude ! Do better guys the good was great so tasty and fresh and hot but poor guys back there doing everything while all the servers and boss was just standing around maybe I will be back who knows ! GET IT TO TOGETHER!!!!!! Lunch crew servers are more nicer and are actually doing stuff I will definitely come for lunch not dinner

Nasty food definitely not worth the price !!! Lady with blonde hair in the kitchen was rude to everyone yelling while the manager did nothing ! Won’t be back

Since the reopening the service and food is going downhill. One waitress should not have to do it all. Order wasnt made right, waited 20 minutes, yes 20 minutes for remake. Won't be back

I asked my father to get me the chef salad, used to be my favorite. Since the new owners took over, the food is NOT the same. The "chef salad" is not at all what a typical chef salad is. Just lettuce, grilled chicken, a boiled egg, and tomato. No cheese and runny ranch dressing. They have upped the prices and made everything "fancy". No longer the old fashioned joint it used to be.

I was excited when I learned new owners had saved Malcolm's from closure, but on my first visit under the new ownership I was very disappointed. The food (spicy chicken bits) was inedible - it tasted burnt. I only ate three bites and asked for my ticket. They didn't even apologize. What a shame.

Pretty sure the kid over charged us. We paid $50.00 for a salad and a club sandwich. The salad should have come with the fruit but we were charged separate for it. Max our ticket should have been$30.00. and everyone's order at our table came out wrong. They said they had a situation in the kitchen. Probably won't go back.

Took them 20 minutes longer to bring out my burger because the first one was messed up and my girlfriend was already done. I had asked to just cancel mine but the waitress reassured us that they had made everything fresh again so I took it to go. As soon as I got to the car the fries were already cold. They offered free icecream but not to comp anything from the meal. The waitresses service was excellent but I cannot say I will be back

Wife ordered a chicken salad and I ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich . Wife said her lettuce wasn’t fresh , crackers were old . Chicken had no flavor and dry , tea tasted like water . She didn’t eat her meal . That’s not like her to do this . My sandwich - the potato chips were all crumbs . Wasn’t one chip in my plate. Just crumbs . The chicken fried steak had no flavor . My tea had no flavor - the taste of the the tasted like dishwater soap . Malcolm’s isn’t the same . Won’t be going back !!!!!!

I just wanted to share my experience from lunch today. We waited at the host stand for a solid 5 minutes before a lady with blue hair finally helped us—while she was juggling running food and making ice cream! It was frustrating to see everyone else in the corner chatting it up while she was clearly working hard. To make matters worse, another girl in a black sweatshirt yelled at her to “grab the door!” Can you believe that? The girl with blue hair was busy and definitely didn’t deserve that kind of treatment, but yet the girl in the black sweatshirt went behind the register on her phone and sat down on the floor for a good 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the owner/manager was nowhere to be found. On a positive note, our server Melanie was fantastic! She provided great service, and the food was delicious. It’s a shame to see hard workers not getting the support they deserve. Just thought I’d share!
