Calaca Mamas Cantina is a popular spot near Disneyland, known for its friendly staff (especially bartenders James & Brittany, and server Christina), fun atmosphere, and large portions. Many find it a great alternative to Disneyland food. Some find the prices a bit high, but worth it.
Tip: A great place to eat after a day at Disneyland. Consider sitting on the patio to watch the fireworks.

I had a great experience at Calaca. I started off with guacamole and chips which was delicious. I decided to order the Tlayuda with a scrambled egg and carnitas. It was delicious and everything was fresh. I mostly enjoyed Yen and our servers Lily and Luz. They were all very professional and more than happy to answer all our questions. I enjoy going to a restaurant where you can connect with the staff and get to know them. I will definitely return when in the area again. The food was good.
This is our favorite spot to eat and grab drinks every time we come to Disneyland. We've been coming here ever since they opened. We just love them!
Came for drinks after disney (a stop before my hotel stay at Tropicana) thanks to James we had a great experience at the bar. Especially his signature Lemon drop! To die for! Definitely a must of you are in the area!
Recently spent a Disney Family Reunion about a week ago and stayed next door to this establishment. Food was amazing, especially the Birria Ramen! Staff was wonderful and great atmosphere to have drinks and appetizers and watch the Disney fireworks without staying in the park and fighting the crowds. Visited 3 times in a 3 day stay and it was always amazing!
Disneyland food is never the best, but after a long day at the park, we craved a solid meal—and wow, did we hit the jackpot at Calaca Mamas Cantina! I was with my daughter and her friend, and they both raved about the horchata (assuming that’s the “Orchata”—it was refreshing, and downright incredible. We dove into a spread of appetizers since we knew we’d be stuffed: the ceviche was fresh and zesty, the queso fundido was gooey perfection, and the tlayuda? Oh boy, that crispy, loaded tortilla stole the show. Every bite was spot-on delicious; nothing disappointed. Our waiter, Alex, deserves a huge shoutout. He was super attentive and speedy, even though the place was absolutely slammed (it's a prime spot across from Disneyland!). The fun, upbeat music kept the vibe lively without overwhelming our chat. It was so good that we returned the next day for lunch. Manager Tanya (guessing the spelling) even recognized us and popped over to say hi—what a warm touch! This spot is an absolute must for anyone park-hopping. It offers fresh flavors, excellent service, and authentic cantina energy. We’ll be back!
I am so superbly impressed. The food is delicious and made from scratch. Oxacan inspired and probably some of the best Mexican food I've had up and down the Californian Coast. All organic and well-made. Thanks to Caesar and Chef Yen. Service was amazing as well. The atmosphere was very comfortable and inviting. Wonderful Cantina to enjoy the Disney Fireworks with a nice cocktail!
Such a cool place right across the street from Disneyland. It has lots of Disney Coco Vibes in the decor. It's super cute! If you need any Disney souvenirs they've got that too! The drinks are A-MAZING!! You must try the Churro margarita. So good. All of the drinks are good really. Also try the tots, any of the bowls, the Carne asada and MUST have the churros for dessert!!! (We all agreed, their churros were BETTER than Disneyland churros...but shhh don't tell the mouse that!!! 🤫😂) It comes in the cutest churro cart and it's ON FIRE, shooting off fireworks. The churros were perfect. And it comes with two different sauces to dip in. The dulce de Leche was hands down our favorite one to dip them in. I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to go back! If you're going to Disneyland and were unable to get reservations at one of the Disney restaurants, come here instead. You'll be so glad you did.
James & Brittany, the bartenders, were awesome! The wet green asada burrito was insanely delicious definitely a must-stop spot after Disneyland! Big thanks to the host & rest of the friendly staff. Merry Christmas 🎄
A great spot for our large party at lunch. Food was excellent and Kane, our server, was phenomenal, despite our large group, many requests and separate checks! Highly recommendn remember to ask for Kane. :-)
This was the best Mexican restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Our server was absolutely amazing- constantly waiting on us hand and foot no matter what even if we asked for too much lol. His name was Juan Alcala, and he truly surpassed every expectation of eating at the restaurant. We got multiple dishes, drinks and desserts and everything was phenomenal. If you go, you must try the housemaid horchata, the queso fundido, the churro cart, and the quesabirria tacos were the best that we’ve ever had in our entire life. I can’t say it enough that we had such an amazing experience and appreciate all of the hospitality and gratitude our server and all of the workers gave us. Atmosphere was also stunning we loved the Dia de los muertos decor. And for some reason, everything about the restaurant made us feel like we were at home. This is officially our date night spot after a busy Disney day or Anaheim trip. Absolutely DELICIOUS.
We came to Disneyland for a four-day trip to celebrate my 40th birthday and happened to come across Calaca Mamas Cantina on our very first night. I’m so glad we did. We sat at the bar, and James immediately made us feel welcome and taken care of. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for after a long day at the parks. We ended up stopping in every night after Disneyland for drinks—and sometimes appetizers—and it quickly became our go-to spot. Every time we walked in, we were happy to see James. He even remembered that we had told him it was my birthday and wished me a happy birthday when we came back, which truly made me feel special. The service, food, and genuine hospitality make this place a true gem.
I am SO very happy we gave this place a try. Call me crazy but Disney food is so disappointing. When we were ready to park hop around lunchtime we took a very short detour here. It is just directly across Harbor. We sat on the patio to take advantage of the happy hour menu. I had the Tell Me I’m Pretty Taco trio. It was delicious! So much taster and filling for pretty much the same price we would’ve paid for a quick serve meal inside the parks (even with tip factored in) We will be back.
What’s up fam. If you’re looking for a place for some good Mexican food. Then you wanna check out Calaca Mamas. This place is the bomb. Let them know that Pastor Dre sent you talk to James Joseph.
This is a nice place for Mexican food just opposite Disneyland. The price was higher because it’s the Disneyland area but the portion was pretty large. It’s definitely more worth it than buying things inside the park. Every dish we tried was delicious. They also have a long menu of cocktails. Parking is free (for 2 hours I think) if validated by the restaurant.
I came in around 9:30 after a great day at Disneyland. Had an overall great experience. A bit of drama when another patron got out of hand, but the staff handled it perfectly. Alex (bartender) and the manager (whose name I unfortunately failed to get) took care of everyone, and kept the evening light & happy. I had a Cadillac margarita and the steak tacos, and I thought both were awesome. Total 10/10 experience.
Just outside of Disneyland, this Mexican Cantina is AMAZING! I would venture to say the food is on the fancier side. They garnished our Tropical Slush mocktail with dehydrated pineapple made in-house! The dried pineapple is like a potato chip, super thin and crispy. We asked our server for more and she brought us a small plate. This place feels like it would be a large chain, but this is the one and only!
What a gem of a restaurant. The staff is AWESOME. The food is excellent. My family was on our way back to the car from the NAMM show, and we literally stumbled across this place. Right away, the staff was warm, inviting, and was willing to take time and answer my wife's questions. My wife has allergies to wheat and dairy, which makes it extremely difficult and risky when we do decide to venture out. The staff was so patient and understanding I can not convey how much we appreciated that because it meant her food did not make her sick. So a huge thank you! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Everything I want and more in a Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff was super friendly. I recommend trying the flautas appetizer. SO good! It's probably the best I've ever had! Warning, though, the habanero dipping sauce it comes with is insanely spicy!! My enchiladas were also spicier than I'd like. The waitress told me no spice, but there definitely was. It was still delicious, I just needed some extra sour cream to get through it. I appreciated that they had some non-alcoholic drink options. We really enjoyed our mocktails. Especially the Blushing Maria! SO GOOD! The deep fried ice cream was also very delicious. A bit more sweet than expected, but the perfect thing to finish the meal. It's about as expensive as everything else in the area trying to compete with Disneyland across the street, but it was worth it for us.

Great if you want a large meal. Great menu. Like their chili relleno.
Dinner was exquisite! Christina was excellent, friendly and great customer service. The restaurant is spotless let’s not mention the restrooms……spotless! I will say the caldo de pollo was THE best! The birria ramen was THE best! We live around the corner and this will be our place to come for the weekend. Next stop this coming weekend for breakfast!!!!!!
We ended up here for dinner twice in a week while we were in town for a conference. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very fun. Prices were very reasonable and the service staff was friendly, I just wish they checked in a bit more.
The food was awesome. Great fresh guacamole, yummy chips & salsa, scrumptious tacos, perfect rice & pinto beans, totally delicious steak... The service was awesome. The chef introduced himself and was nice. The waiter, Juan was great to, always checking to see if we needed drink refills and any other needs. The restaurant was clean and perfectly located across Disneyland. Super authentic Mexican food... IHOP and Dennys is yucky. Tony Romas (?) Is no comparison.. This is now our place to eat. I HIGHLY recommend it....
The service was top notch. Kyra(our server) checked on us regularly throughout the meal. All staff were very attentive and did a fantastic job. The food was also amazing. I had the Chile relleno. It was the best I've ever had.

Was glad to find a spot that was open late. Definitely overpriced. I guess they can get away with it since it's close to Disney. $18 for Guacamole is ridiculous. Which the guacamole needed some onions. 2 entrees, a appetizer, and 2 margaritas, plus tip was $150. Food was good and service was good though, but Guacamole wasn't worth $18 though
Our waiter Julian was a gem! Very friendly and accommodating. The food was fresh and flavorful. Only downside is the food is kind of pricey.
I was in town for Blizzcon November 3rd to the 4th. I always look to find establishments I couldn't find at home. I'm glad I found this one! The food was EXCELLENT! The quesebarria tacos were crunchy and bursting with flavor. The salsa and queso was fresh. The rice and beans were spot-on. I had my meal with a local beer as well. It was a very nice, chill atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a strong sense of familia and friendship here. If there is one thing I could change, probably the pricing. It's a little expensive and perhaps larger portions should come with the pricing. However, you can't beat the taste. Additionally, it's literally right across from the Disneyland entrance. It is family friendly so I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a great bite after a day in the parks. Definitely glad I came here. I'll have to go again when I'm in town.
Cute place with a little gift shop area included (to be expected in a touristy area for sure). The burrito I got was fantastic. They customized it a bit for me, adding peppers and onions. It was huge and delicious. Oddly enough I did get pretty sick later that night but I am not implying their food was the culprit...it could be wild coincidence. The food was served hot and fresh, but I also used the cold dips. If there were multiple accounts, I'd worry, but if not highly recommend.
I loved the chilaquiles- not too spicy as its base is chile guajillo. I would highly recommend trying it with the housemade chicken chorizo as it was flavorful and not at all greasy. The only appetizer we shared was the elote and I would definitely want to try the queso fundido next time. As for desserts, your eyes are definitely bigger than your hunger! Be sure to share any dessert because they are very sweet and come in big portions. The deep fried ice cream comes in a generous portion of 3 pieces and super sweet because it’s coated with perhaps raw sugar. The flan is just right, but definitely a shareable. The ice cream with churros is very heavy on the sweets. Mexicans are known to have a high sweet tooth, but be careful because they can lead to diabetes 😂
We dined again at Calaca Mama's Cantina. I'm determined to try everything off their menu. This time we had the Enchiladas Verde and Quesabirria tacos with consome on the side. Both dishes come with rice and beans. But for starters we had chips and salsa, which are on the house, then we ordered the Under the Sea Duo which is Aguas Chile's and Ceviche and we also ordered the Flautas de Pollo, which if you have ever had this are a must to order everytime you go. I also had 2 of their signature cocktails.
Ate here after a day at Disney the staff was great ate at the bar he was very helpful picking out food and a drink food was average for me still had good flavor did get to see.the fireworks from the patio
Calaca Mamas Cantina – A Must-Try Dining Experience Across from Disneyland This past year, we’ve made two visits to Calaca Mamas Cantina, and each time the experience has been worth every penny. March 2024: Pre-Park Relaxation On our first visit, we stopped by on the night before heading into Disneyland after a long drive. We opted for some light snacks and drinks to tide us over. The mixed drinks were excellent—and slightly more affordable than what you’d find inside the parks. We also sampled a few appetizers, all of which were very good. With its outdoor seating featuring cozy fire pits, Calaca Mamas provided a perfect, relaxed setting to enjoy refreshments and even catch the park’s fireworks, a great option if you don’t have a park ticket. March 2025: Early Dinner Delight Our second visit was for an early dinner after a stroll through Downtown Disney. Having enjoyed our previous experience, we returned for more. My wife ordered a streak bowl paired with a specialty cocktail that she absolutely loved. I opted for the Beria Ramen and a craft Mexican lager; the ramen had a satisfying spicy kick that was perfectly balanced by the beer. Our daughter enjoyed the kids’ cheese quesadilla—a reliable, kid-friendly option. We started our meal with a serving of chips, salsa, and queso, with the queso being a standout hit. Although our bill came to around $145 with tip, which is on the higher side, the consistently excellent service made it worth it. Final Thoughts Calaca Mamas Cantina offers a unique and delightful dining option right across from the Disneyland entrance. Whether you’re looking for a pre-park snack, a place to enjoy the fireworks, or a memorable dinner after a day at the parks, this spot delivers on quality, service, and ambiance. We definitely recommend giving it a try!
We have walked by this place a dozen times and finally decided to try it. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The service was very helpful and attentive. The margaritas were good, but a bit pricey for the size. We enjoyed most of our food selections, but especially enjoyed the loaded tots. We would go again.

Food taste was AMAZING We had 2 waiters, most likely one training the other. We had ordered deep fried ice cream for after dinner. We were there around 5:30 pm. They sat is in a darker corner. At night they turn down the lights, for "ambiance" . It was way too dark we couldn't see to eat and had to ask them to turn the lights back on. It was still too dark for my liking. After dinner we waited and waited for our ice cream. The manager came and said somehow the cooks didn't see our order and so they were finally making it. They did not charge us for the ice cream.
What can I say about Calaca Mamas Cantina. This place is new and across the street from the main entrance into Disneyland. We went around late lunch, early dinner. It took about 8 min to sit down (it was not busy) as customers were leaving they told us they are short staffed. We sat ourselves and within 5min. the waitress came and gave us menus and took our drink orders. It has a nice little vibe to it. They do offer chips and salsa (first one free) Our food was really good and I would give 4 stars for that. The price of things and the amount of food everybody has a different interpretation of what they would get. I personally would like to have seen a little more food for the price. I would definitely try this place again. Enjoy! If this review helps put a 👍🏼
Zariah thank you for the warm, friendly welcome to your restaurant. I forgot my waitress's name but she was amazing with perfect hospitality skills! The drinks are delicious, pleasant to look at and get the job done. The entire staff gets 👍🏾👍🏾💞 The elote tasted a Lil different than the street vendors here in SoCal. That threw me off a bit. The shrimp platter I ordered went back to the kitchen. The shrimp wasn't flavorful, and the bell peppers were mushy and seemingly missing salt. The patio is right across the street from the Disneyland entrance so you have a great view, and the restaurant inside is very clean.
Not my kind of food, each to their own though. My sister and my mom loved what they got. I wish there were more options to the food, a wider variety in menu. There were only 2 burritos and service was iffy. The horchata was okay, rice and beans were above mediocre. Very expensive for little options. I’m not coming back but doesn’t hurt to try something new
My husband bought food here on a Friday night. The steak was cooked perfectly… but the shrimp.. Yikes. I’m a SHRIMP LOVER. But these did NOT taste good. They were very “oceany.” They were cooked well. They were Not like mushy or rubbery… just tasted spoiled.. We just arrived in Anaheim, I’m going to be PISSED if we get sick. Even my son ate them… I’m really worried for us.

Food is expensive for what you get. We ordered ceviche, had a couple pieces of shrimp on top and a whole cup of salad on the bottom(I've never had lettuce in ceviche)🤣, no lime, no salt(had to ask for lime). For $20 should have more shrimp. The carne asada tacos were good, fish tacos were ok. I wouldn't recommend this place for the price we paid food should have been alot better. There's other places near by with better food at a decent price.
This place was "meh" at best. The tacos ordered, although flavorful, were incredibly greasy and induced a burning stomach ache later. The breakfast burrito was not overly impressive. The fact that we got ONE bowl of complimentary chips and salsa for a table of 7 (additional for purchase at $5 a pop) rounded out the experience. The best part of the trip was the large sign inside reading "feed me tacos and tell me I'm pretty". Will not be back. Do not recommend.
Well I am shocked. This is an amazing themed restaurant. We have been here several times. I know, I know, what your thinking I should have gave a good review when it was good. But this time o have to review them to hopefully make them aware of what’s going on. The order: I orders the chile colorado, it came with charro beans and rice. My wife ordered the quesabirrias also with charro beans and rice. The waiter was super nice and attentive. He asked if we wanted any appetizers, we did not. The waiter ended up giving us some free chips and salsa. Look, I know what chile colorado should taste like, same goes with the beans and rice. My meal missed the mark completely. Salty and unpleasant. The quesabirrias were just ok. Chips and salsa although really great full, I got a diff of old oil. Look if you are spending money in labor, branding and environment make sure the food matches the quality of your brand. I will try again to give them a chance. Best of luck.

Worst food ever. I ordered a shrimp ceviche and very dry couldn’t taste any lemon. My kid ordered a carne asada plate over well and it was very tough. The chips tasted stale even though they were warm. Chipotle taste better and they not real Mexican restaurant. Never again. Save your money
Overpriced and Under quality!!! Where do I even start, oh yeah, first off, we asked for recommendations from our waitress, which was a bad decision on our part, she recommended the medium tacos / street tacos with chicken, steak and pork. We decide to get 5 orders of the medium tacos, we order 3 drinks and ask for a “side of guacamole” which ended up being an appetizer costing me 18.99 . (Seriously, a little bowl of guacamole and some chips for a grand total of………..wait for it, wait for it…… drum roll……. 192.70, and for the people in the back that didn’t hear me, yes I spent 192.70 for some tacos, 3 fountain drinks and a appetizer of guacamole. Damn, what a weekend, I could’ve spent half the amount at del taco or Taco Bell for the same quality of food and be left with enough money to buy some lottery tickets.
I took my family on Thanksgiving night for dinner and I regret it. The food was not authentic Mexican food. The enchiladas barely had any flavor (the salsa was not spicy at all) and the bean were overly salty. The kids meals are $15 (not worth it at all). They charge for chips and salsa. The service was not great either. This place is not worth the price tag. Just go to Downtown Disney where you can get more for your money.
Nice ambiance. Waited 20 minutes for a waiter or staff to acknowledge us. We saw many other tables be seated and get chips, salsa and drinks before we did. The odd thing is we were there when it was quite. They seemed to care more about cleaning than say hello. The manager passed by us many times and did not acknowledge us, but he had time to clean a table when there was no one waiting to be seated. They got our order completely wrong and didn't offer to correct it. They forgot things we ordered. The food is bland and not very good. Possibly if you don't know what good Mexican food tastes like this may be ok. This was a very disappointing experience. It's a really nice ambiance but if you're looking for good service, a good meal, Calaca Mamas is not the place.
