Madame Ushi is an experience. Highly recommend for a fun night out. Feels like the it place in Aspen right now. Unique mix of Michelin star level food, cool restaurant/club nightlife vibe, and upscale younger Aspen crowd. The decor and vibe are perfect - artsy but cozy, with music spot on for the nightlife vibe. The food was spectacular - way above our expectations. Best food we had on this trip to Aspen and some of best sushi we’ve had. Highly recommend the tuna sashimi, surf and turf roll, cabbage Caesar, and baked scallop. Service was exceptional to match. The atmosphere leans towards club, especially as the night goes on and the music lounge opens in the adjacent space. They hit it out of the park - best experience we had the entire week in Aspen. Amazing.
I loved this place vibe ..food and service so great
Best Dining Experience in Aspen-was there for 4 days and ate there twice because we couldn’t get enough!!! The food is so good here you briefly consider proposing to the chef. I don’t know what’s the most impressive the food the vibe or the service but if you want an Aspen chic meal to be the highlight of your trip this is the place!!!!
Since the arrival of the new chef Jake (previously from Nobu in Miami) the food has blown me away. Everything on the menu is incredible. I could eat there every night. The ambience is sexy, unique and vibrant. The food is flavorful and beautifully plated. The hostesses, waiters and waitresses are kind, caring and attentive. 10/10
From the minute I walked in I was extremely impressed with the attention to detail with the decor and atmosphere that gives this place an identity of its own. I’ve eaten here many times and really enjoy everything which is impressive considering how diverse their menu is. The food itself is on another level! This is by far my favorite restaurant in Aspen and I will continue recommending it to all my friends.
Do yourself a favor and eat here. The food and services are exceptional. Best sushi in aspen hands down. The nigiri melts in your mouth and the vibe is classy. I all around love this place. I have eaten at a lot of sushi spots all around the world and this one really satisfied everything I look for.
Perfection! Love Madame Ushi’s menu, food, interior design & service! You wouldn’t dare order carry out with this ambiance. Grateful to have you here in Aspen! Thank you for an excellent night!
This restaurant has a great energy and feel. The food was amazing with top notch presentation. My new favorite spot in aspen!
Delicious food, incredible service! Wow! A must go when in Aspen. Followed by drinks at Gala.
Went in this place a few times. Food is great. Crispy rice with salmon and uni is my fav
Amazing place food was great and the ambiance cool!
If you were to pick one restaurant in Aspen to dine at, this is it. The food is another level; an array of flavors to please every palate. Step inside and let the ambiance embrace all five senses. Above and beyond customer service providing an experience you will want over and over again.
Wonderful vibe ! Dinner was incredible tasty, modern and well executed. Top food quality surrounded of amazing flavors.
A new restaurant on the Aspen scene, Madame Ushi raises the bar for Japanese fusion in a town full of great dining options. The incredibly imaginative menu brings flavor combinations not typical of other establishments that delight and surprise diners. From the creative cocktail menu to the delectable menu choices, the unique and yet approachable menu choices will delight all. The very friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff make dining a pleasure, and guide guests through menu with gracious ease. An added bonus, the eclectic and comfortable decor invites the diner to relax and to enjoy a wonderful trip thru a talented chef’s mind as the dishes build to a wonderful crescendo. The professional and talented sommelier who many will recognize from his many years on the Aspen restaurant scene caps off the meal with his wonderful suggestions spot on to compliment every dish. Our new favorite place!!!
Phenomenal experience at this gorgeously decorated restaurant in Aspen. Less than a year young, we weren't sure what to expect. Wow, were we blown away! A quiet night, due to it's age amidst the buzz of local Aspen favorites, it did not stop Madame Ushi from ticking all the boxes. Service was amiable and attentive, the dining room alluring and moody, and the food was exceptional. Wouldn't have changed anything about our dinner choices. From the shumai and blistered shishitos, to the branzino and pork belly, temaki and sashimi, finishing with the matcha panna cotta and espresso ice cream, all were delicious! You will not be disappointed with this place! Can't wait to return.
Went there this summer 2023 and I was absolutely amazed with the professionalism, environment and food. Everyone was very professional and fast with the order. Trust me, because I was starving this was the first thing I paid attention to lol.The food was fresh, tasty and well presented. The chef was very kind and despite him being very busy that night he still found a minute to come say hi. It was absolutely an amazing experience and I will do it again every opportunity I have and if I were you I would too.
Madame Ushi is an absolute must-try when coming to Aspen. The nigiri was fresh and delicious, and the wagyu meats were of extremely high quality… top-notch restaurant quality products make this place ELITE. The atmosphere was amazing, customer service was impeccable, and the overall attention-to-detail in the restaurant is unmatched by any other spot in Aspen. Definitely worth a visit!!
Incredible experience to be had from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. The service was as exceptional as the creative dishes, and the ambiance set the mood perfectly. Be sure to hit the intimate club after dinner. The music was amazing and so was the crowd.
Fabulous happy hour! The patio is nestled in the middle of the Aspen mall with plenty of shade. Highly recommend trying the spicy scallop hand roll and Happy sushi roll. Best sushi deal in town.
Came into ushi late night and was blown away, great music throughout the night! Tello was very informative about the menu and set our whole meal up! Then he suggested we go to gala where we met Kyle who is the manager and he took us for a night of fun! Great vibes, food and music.
Possibly the best restaurant in Aspen! I dined there with my work team and it was an amazing experience. Great food, ambiance and service. Jonathan, the sommelier was our server and he was the consummate professional. Highly recommended!
For Atmosphere, food and service there’s nowhere better in Aspen. Get treated like a celebrity and feast on their amazing dishes and if you get a chance have a dance afterwards we had so much fun. We’ll be back !!
Madame Ushi was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The decor sets the perfect ambiance for a memorable meal. By far, the most beautiful restaurant in Aspen! The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to offer recommendations. The highlight, of course, was the food. Madame Ushi offers a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, and every dish we tried was a masterpiece. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, and the ceviche was bursting with vibrant flavors. The signature rolls were innovative and delicious, each bite a delightful blend of textures and tastes. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, featuring creative concoctions that perfectly complemented our meal. The attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience, from the thoughtfully curated menu to the elegant presentation, made our evening truly special. Madame Ushi is a must-visit for anyone in Aspen looking for an extraordinary culinary adventure. I can't wait to return and explore more of their exquisite offerings.
We celebrated my wife's birthday last night at Madame Ushi and loved it. The food was a unique and creative twist on sushi with amazing dishes that were unlike anything I've seen or had before. The atmosphere inside was beautiful but it was too nice of a night so we sat out on the patio. The best part of our experience was our server, Boris who had great sense of humor and command of hospitality.
Incredible food, service and overall general experience. Came w/ friends recently while visiting and some of the best Japanese I’ve ever had. Cannot recommend enough !
I stopped by for brunch over the weekend and the new menu has turned my go-to brunch spot to an avid Ushi-goer. Their new happy hour is the best deal in town and also has something for everyone (even if you aren’t in a sushi mood). The service has improved significantly!! I highly recommend stopping by! All my best, Madame Taylor
We had such an amazing dinner. It was hands down the most delicious food we’ve ever had. Ambiance was perfect, and the service impeccable. Thank you for an absolute treat. Chicken and waffles were so different, and so delicious. My husband enjoyed the sushi, and we were still treated amazingly well despite having our 3.5 year old with us. What a great time.
Ask for Madison… I wanted to say thank you to Madison for a most memorable evening. Her effort to make our dinner so special (remarkable sushi) and being so attentive was so refreshing. I learned she was the one playing the fun and lively music that drew us to Madame Ushi in the first place. As part of our conversation about the music, I mentioned the band 53 Thieves and our connection to the band. To our surprise she played 53 Thieves music, not just one song but multiple songs. It is not very often you are made to feel like one in a million at a restaurant, Madison made us feel that way. Also, our thanks to the chef for a wonderful meal, some of the best sushi we have ever had. If you are looking for a fantastic vibe, remarkable food and best in class service go to Madame Ushi and ask for Madison.
Some of the BEST most well-balanced cocktails I have ever had. The food is absolutely superb and the staff was amazing, especially Madison! If you happen to be in late night, the local dj vibes are immaculate as well
What an awesome meal and service. We liked the look of the menu and decided to go in. Such a warm friendly greeting from Madison and got us seated in a nice booth. Had a really nice glass of Monterey Chardonnay, 3x rolls and some of the best sashimi ever. The highlight was the scallop sashimi. The overall experience was enhanced by our server Jelena super friendly and professional. Looking forward to going back
Incredibly good food and service. The white fish sashimi was so good we came back two nights in a row.
Madame Ushi Aspen: a well-executed experience from start to finish Madame Ushi delivers a contemporary Asian concept that’s thoughtfully put together. The atmosphere is elegant without feeling pretentious, the service is attentive, and the menu is well-curated — dishes are balanced, well-executed, and visually appealing without going over the top. One of the standout elements is the sushi bar. The quality of the ingredients and the precision in preparation are evident from the first bite. Jesús, who leads that section, brings a particularly refined touch — clean technique, steady pace, and a clear focus that keeps the standard consistently high. In a setting where style can sometimes overshadow substance, Madame Ushi manages to deliver both. Worth visiting — and revisiting.
I would say the best Japanese restaurant in Aspen these days (and there are a few). The food was excellent - we were 3 and sampled numerous dishes. The vibe is lively and music and sound system is great. (This can surely be attributed to the owner being in the music industry). I am a foodie, travel the world to eat, and actually have a very popular restaurant myself in Aspen. Madame Ushi I can highly recommend!
The best meal we had in Aspen! We went twice during our trip. Everything we ordered was delicious and really well executed. The cocktails were amazing, and the staff was so kind and welcoming. The club side was also great. The DJ sets were fun and the place had such good energy. Easily one of the better places to go out in Aspen.
This was my favorite meal in Aspen. Our family of 4 was warmly welcomed, and Sonni was our favorite server on our trip. Very attentive and friendly staff with food that was perfectly prepared, presented, and served. From the A5 Wagyu to the Ramen, to the grilled cabbage Caesar salad, which Sonni recommended, everything excellent! Nice ambience, too!
Nice place to hang out. We had drinks and shishito peppers which were good.
I’d recommend the king crab temaki(hand roll). Nigiris are not really good. Definitely not gourmet but overpriced.
Some items were yummy and we enjoyed the sushi. We enjoyed the Bonzai Garden cocktail too! The wagyu dumplings ($47!!) were awful. It was a tough piece of overcooked steak wrapped in dumpling. Then we ordered scallop maki, and recieved tuna maki. I informed a staff member and he insisted it was scallop. Then, he called over our server who also doubled down that it was scallop. It was red, obviously tuna, and I showed them with my flash light. Then they took it to the kitchen and corrected the roll. When they doubled down on the wrong fish it was telling. Either they are new to sushi or were reacting to this being our second issue after the dumplings were sent back. We are typically easy customers and have never sent a dish back before but the dumplings were unnacceptable. The staff did correct the errors and removed the dumplings from our tab. We were expecting great food but it was dissapointing. Either way, it was a mediocre experience at best.
Regrettably, my recent visit to Madame Ushi left me with a sense of unease, despite their evident efforts. While the staff tried hard to make us feel welcome, there was an underlying feeling of discomfort throughout our meal. The astronomical prices on the menu left us scratching our heads, as there seemed to be no logical explanation for such exorbitant pricing. Unfortunately, the food failed to justify these sky-high costs. Expecting culinary excellence to match the price tag, we were sorely disappointed by the subpar quality of the dishes. Each bite left much to be desired, further adding to our disappointment. In the end, while the restaurant's efforts were commendable, the overall experience fell short of expectations. For those seeking a satisfying dining experience in Aspen, I would recommend exploring other options that offer better value for money. P. S.: Nevertheless, for those seeking a visually stunning dining setting that transports them to the streets of Japan, Madame Ushi may still hold appeal.
Food and atmosphere were terrific. Service was lacking, servers seemed a little overwhelmed. Took a while for anyone to take a drink order and there were small miscues all night; bringing food to the wrong table; trying to take away sake glasses while we still had a half full bottle; forgetting items that were ordered. Cocktails, spicy edamame, and the jidori chicken were excellent though, and I would dine here again.
We generally enjoyed our dinner and the food was good. However we were super surprised when we were leaving and picking up our coats that manager stopped us and demanded higher tip (we originally left over $200 tip). It left super bad taste in our mouth. We won’t be going back there.
The tonkatsu was overcooked. The server is so pushy asking to clean up our plates while we're still eating. Terrible service and overpriced food. If you think that there's a necessity to upcharge because the food has to be imported to aspen, fine. But if you think you'll charge extra for the quality of food, service, or environment; think again. Don't come here it's terrible.
We came to Madame Ushi for Valentine’s Day dinner and had mixed feelings about the experience. The food itself was good and flavorful, so no complaints there. However, the overall service really took away from what was supposed to be a special night. We were in and out in about 35 minutes, which made the evening feel rushed rather than enjoyable. The timing of the dishes was also off — one appetizer came out, then an entrée, then another appetizer, and finally my partner’s entrée. It felt uncoordinated and chaotic instead of paced for a relaxed dinner. At one point, they attempted to clear my partner’s plate while he was still eating, which added to the rushed feeling. What was meant to be a romantic Valentine’s dinner ended up feeling like a quick turnover table service. The food was solid, but for the price and the occasion, we expected a more thoughtful and polished experience.
DO NOT GO… food was good not great. Highly recommend somewhere else to try. Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ I recently visited Madam ushi and was unfortunately very disappointed with my experience. Here are the main issues I encountered: The service was extremely slow. The staff seemed indifferent and inattentive. When we finally did get served, our order was incorrect and had to be sent back. The quality of the food was subpar. For the price, I expected much better. The ambiance was not pleasant. The front desk manager told me they were going to give away my table since we arrived 10 minutes late but the restaurant was only 40 percent occupied. For the prices charged, the experience did not match up. The portions were small, and the quality was not up to par with other similarly priced restaurants in the area. Overall, my experience at Madam was very disappointing.
This place has gone downhill since last year. Food: Awful. This restaurant felt like a place that copied a sushi restaurant. Fish was not fresh - smelled. The sauces were unbalanced for many dishes. The wagyu dumplings tasted as if someone dumped cinnamon. The salmon with crispy rice tasted more like herring slathered in mayo on top of latkes. Service: It was NYE. I get it - the restaurant is busy. However, after booking my table for 1 month in advance to celebrate an anniversary, they placed my husband and I on a high top by the entrance of the restaurant. We didn’t want to sit there. Frankly, it was a horrible seat. The hostess was incredibly rude about it when we inquired about being seated elsewhere. The manager found a way to accommodate us in the main dining room, but I was shocked by the service. The waiters were very pleasant, however, so nothing against the wait staff. My last thought is - this restaurant felt like one giant cultural appropriation of Japanese food and culture. Everything inside the restaurant, including the food, felt like imitation. Just wrong.
Inauthentic and not even tasty. Don't expect true, high-quality sushi or Asian food. The sushi was covered with ingredients that make no sense, and the fish smelled like it had turned. They also serve steaks that are ~$200, and while I didn't order them, they looked unappetizing and stale. The ambiance is fine but over-the-top and arguably a bit offensive. If you want a scene and to overpay for average food, this is your spot. If you want high-quality food and a good experience, look elsewhere.
The restaurant’s ambiences is tacky and the food is very disappointing for the price, service was good but definitely not the best option for sushi in Aspen
I leave a few reviews a year, usually if the restaurant was exceptional or if it was absolutely awful. This happens to be the latter of the two. First off, when we sat down we were told that we can't have sushi (at a sushi restaurant). Very odd, next when I ordered a nice bottle of sake, I tasted it, and then my girlfriend asked to taste it and the sake sommelier said "This isn't wine, and I am going to pour it anyway" and he proceeded to the other end of the table to pour the sake out. The side dishes we ordered came after all of the main courses had been finished for about 15 mins. Not to mention, the food was HORRIBLE. (The beef skewers were the worst I have had in my entire life). The shrimp dumplings came out and the shrimp was not cooked, and by this I mean not even close. The shrimp was purple and cold) Now I know why this was the only reservation in Aspen available over the holidays as the locals and other must know that this place is not it. If you are going to be the most expensive restaurant at least have good food to back up the prices. Go to Matsuisha or Kenichi If you want good Japanese. (they actually serve the sushi they promise). You have been warned! The reviews must be fake online.
Worst dinning ever experience I have ever had, which was shocking because almost all the restaurants in Aspen are so great. Hostess was extremely rude. Took 20 minutes to get water and 45 minutes we get a drink order. All the food came out wrong and at different times. I wouldn’t go back if they offered me a free meal. Avoid this place.
Would only come here for drinks. Atmosphere is cool but the food quality is extremely poor. Had wagyu crispy rice and skewers - was some of the worst food I’ve had. The chicken skewers were completely raw in the inside and the restaurant provided a 10% discount and took off a dessert… was really disappointed. Very overpriced and poor food quality overall
