Opinions de Hei Tiki Astoria
Came here last night for my birthday. Everything here was absolutely so amazing the music the ambiance the vibes the service but THE FOOD WAS 100000/10 AMAZING SUSHI so fresh so tasteful. I can not wait to go back.
Top notch food and drinks. Music is groovy
As someone who is picky with my sushi, this place blew me away. If you’re looking for fish that is fresh, light, and simply melts in your mouth, you have to come here. There are so many options to choose from (especially for those who don’t eat fish) and is perfect to have a good vibe and food with friends and family. The workers here are so kind and make sure everything is great. 100/10 recommend!!
The atmosphere was fun, the drinks were yummy and the fish was fresh and cut well! We got the Tiki Love Boat and it was delicious. A awesome date or dinner spot.
Always love going to happy hour before work and on my day off here. Great appetizers and drinks for the low. Ernest is the best, funny guy and always on point as a bartender. Definitely a great place to spend your day or start your night.
Excellent food and awesome service! Wonderful energy and very welcoming. Will be back again. Got bappu and avocado cucumber rolls. Partner got spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Very fresh and delicious. Also, very clean. 👍
We love this place! Great date night and happy hour. Food is amazing and drinks are creative and delicious. Also fish is very fresh which is a must with sushi but isn’t always the case!
Came here for dinner and loved it all. Not only was the food really good, you can see that the servers are attentive, friendly, and provide good service. We ordered some nigiri, specialty rolls, mentaiko pasta, and other things and everything was fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place!
Great food in a fun atmosphere. Love the chicken karaage!
Is it pricey? A bit yeah, but everywhere is pricey. This place at least delivers the experience you want when you pay that much. Great drinks, great atmosphere, great food. Very cool fusion restaurant, will definitely go again when I'm in the area.
This place is the best. The bartender is awesome, food is fantastic, decor is Disneyland level and the drinks are an adventure. Happy hour is a great value too.
Fresh fish, creative and delicious rolls, great apps and hot food. Service is always attentive. An Astoria favorite.
I love this place! I have gotten food here several times. As well as the food and drinks always being fantastic, the staff is always very kind.
Everything about this place is amazing. The food, the drinks, the mocktails, and the service (Ernest was awesome!). Exceptional in every way and such a vibe overall. Can’t wait to go back!
Absolutely incredible!!! Stopped in with my boyfriend on a Friday night - he decided we would get the “boat” of sushi. We both agreed that it’s the best sushi we’ve ever had, and the price is super reasonable! The menu is well-curated and the ingredients are the freshest. Ernest made sure we had the best time and was super knowledgeable about everything. Can’t wait to come back!!
Hei Tiki & Sushi Bar in Astoria is a cool spot for Japanese eats with some great twists. Their Hotate Kayiaki and chicken dumplings are amazing option for appetizers, completely delicious. Now, onto the mains. The sushi here is on point, especially that trio sushi taco. It's like sushi meets taco—crunchy shell with fresh fish inside. About the drinks, they've got you covered. They've got a good range, from dry to smooth. We had Caribbean Cafe and Puerto Escondido. Cocktails are inventive too, mixing up Japanese and NYC Queens flavors. For dessert, green tea cheesecake is amazing so magical and yummy. The vibe and staff energy let us totally comfortable. It's cozy, got that modern Japanese vibe going. Whether you're chilling at the bar or kicking back at a table, it's a vibe. Hei Tiki's a winner if you're up for Japanese with a twist. Good food, good drinks, good prices, good times.
Fantastic place for happy hour. The service was warm, the happy hour menu is incredible, and the frozen chichi hits the spot after a long week.
Really nice drinks. The special rolls are fresh and really good! Highly recommend the crispy rice salmon appt and the taco sushi.
This place is consistently amazing! Their drinks are all delicious and so fun. My boyfriend and I have been here several times, and EVERYTHING is always outstanding and we have the best time. Highlights have been the cranberry crab rangoons, blue crab roll, chicken katsu curry, and spicy salmon crackers. YUM! The seafood is super fresh. Do NOT miss this place, they’re a hidden gem! Can’t wait to come back and try their ramen and udon. 😋 Great music and vibe, decor… all of it!
The staffs are friendly and kind. They continue to develop new menus with great happy hour pricing as well. This is my favorite spot.
This was my first time here, I ordered the In Love Salmon special and the Mentaiko pasta. Both fabulous and a great price point. I recommend sitting at the bar and meeting your bartender! Jackie made some fabulous drinks and made me feel super comfortable. Everyone here is sociable and friendly and the atmosphere leaves you wanting to stay here all night.
I had an amazing time at this sushi spot with friends! The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a fun night out. The sushi was fresh and delicious—every roll we tried was a hit. The service was friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone looking for great food and good vibes with friends!
I absolutely love this place. I’ve been multiple times and have yet to have a bad food item. Between the sushi, the noodle bowls and the katsu curry, every dish they offer is amazing. The service is so friendly and kind, the drinks are incredible and the prices are VERY reasonable. My girlfriend and I have had many date nights here, it’s perfect for the two of us to get some delicious food or some very fun (and STRONG!) tiki concoctions.
Summary vacation vibe in this place, with a very creative cocktail menu! Sushi rolls are super fresh and you can sit at the small sushi counter if you want to watch the chefs do their work. We also tried the spicy miso ramen and the miso soup, both had great flavor. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. You will enjoy the menu if you like Japanese food!
great spot with good drinks and amazing food. the vibe rocks too, you feel like you’re on the beach in hawaii and forget that you’re in new york city
✨ Just discovered Hei Tiki , the restaurant and bar with a Polynesian theme that serves exotic cocktails and sushi haven in Astoria, and it did not disappoint! The place is beautifully decorated, creating a perfect ambiance for an enjoyable meal. The sushi here is incredibly fresh! I’m especially obsessed with their Kobe roll and Hotate Kaiyaki-it’s a must-try! The staff are super friendly, making the dining experience even more pleasant. If you’re a sushi lover in Astoria, Hei Tiki is definitely worth a visit! 🍣✨ Featured: Kobe Roll 16 Salmon mango 18 Hotate Kaiyaki 19 Sushi Reguler 23 Steak Donburi 30 The virgin 10 Mai tai 16 Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
My boyfriend and I had plans to go somewhere else but it ended up being closed. I suggested Hei tiki because I had been wanting to try it and it FAR exceeded our expectations!!! Honestly everything was delicious but the crispy rice was absolutely delicious! The sushi deluxe was also very good and fresh. But the sushi taco special with salmon tuna and yellowtail was out of this WORLD!! If they have this on the specials do not miss it! All around incredible experience and we left already wanting to go back! Staff was attentive and the chef even came over to ask us how we liked the special and what was our favorite component. 10/10 check it out! We had a lovely date night!
Hei Tiki Sushi & Bar has a cool, tropical vibe that sets the perfect backdrop for a unique dining experience. Started off with some refreshing mocktails: the Virgin was a delightful mix of lime, pineapple, and coconut, and the Mai Mai Mai added a nice nutty twist with pistachio orgeat. The Chicken Karaage was crispy and flavorful, but the Crispy Sushi Taco Trio really stole the show with its creative presentation and delicious combinations of spicy tuna, aburi salmon, and yellowtail. The Sushi & Sashimi Combo offered a generous and tasty assortment, but the Unagi Don was the standout with its perfectly grilled BBQ eel over rice. Wrapped up the meal with a slice of Green Tea Cheesecake, subtly sweet and packed with flavor.
A very nice place with a great atmosphere. We come here often with my family, and all the dishes we’ve tried have been delicious. The cocktails are also excellent. Highly recommended
[ invited ] Truly a tiki bar in the heart of Astoria! The cocktails are delish & strong enough to get me a little buzzed. You definitely need to try Chef’s Specialty appetizer Tokyo Bomb!!!! How cute are the Nagoya rolls in hearts?! Katsu Don Chicken Donburi was creamy goodness! My friend & I shared everything & we were stuffed, but there’s always room for dessert! The matcha ice cream & cheesecake were the perfect amount of sweetness for us! Definitely coming back!!
Sushi, tiki vibes, and tropical cocktails 🍣🌴 This is the cutest spot with laid-back Hawaiian vibes—perfect for both a chill meal or a fun night out. 🌺 We started with the Tako Wasabi and Hamachi Carpaccio. For mains, the Hotate Kaiyaki was an umami packed dream-baked blue crab, crabstick, tako, scallop, and tobiko served in a scallop shell. The Sushi & Sashimi Combo was super fresh, and the Crispy Sushi Taco Trio (spicy tuna, aburi salmon, blue crab) was an addictively tasty twist. The cocktails here are as good as they look! 🍹 The Baby Shark was refreshing with a spicy edge, and the Frozen Daiquiri was a tropical delight. Plus, their adorable tiki mugs add that extra island vibe. 🌴 We ended with the Yuzu Cheesecake. The vibe, service, and food here are all on point—an absolute must-visit for sushi and tiki lovers alike! 🌸
This is a place you walk past and think, nothing special. But let me tell you, the sushi is absolutely Amazing! I had the Kobe role a few hours ago and already want to go back. The cocktail I had was Also special. If you’re in the mood for sushi and maybe a drink, deff give them a try.
Great spot I drop one star off because they had the door wide open and I was freezing. The food was great and so was the drink. I ordered 2 but only got one. I think the waiter forgot.
Just celebrated my birthday here. Food (sushi boat) and drinks were wonderful. Our server, Zine, was spectacular. We will definitely be back soon.
Great experience at this sushi restaurant and bar! 🍣🔥 The tuna tartar was amazing…very fresh and full of flavor. I also tried the chef’s special with octopus, served in a beautiful casserole-style dish with a small flame underneath, which made the presentation really unique and kept it warm. The happy hour drink was also really good. Special thanks to my waitress, Zine, who was super attentive and sweet and always checking if I needed anything. Overall, I give this place 10 stars! ⭐️
If you are ever at Koppel Hyundai waiting for your car, you will thank yourself for stopping here. What an unexpected full food experience. I was "extra hungry" and they fed me. Edamame, shishito peppers, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, miso soup, dumplings, mochi ice cream, yuzu cheesecake. Seriously fed me. Favorites-peppers wow! Tempura roll(not even a favorite of mine and only ordered because of the lunch special but turned out to be a winner) dumplings were crispy outside and tender inside with a filling to dumpling ratio of 60-40;perfect, and lastly the yuzu cheesecake was small, but every bite delivered. I would pay tolls and sit in traffic just to eat here again.
I had an unforgettable experience at this restaurant, thanks to the outstanding service from start to finish. Minnie struck the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, making me feel welcome the moment I walked in. She was attentive without being intrusive, always anticipating what I needed before I even had to ask.
If I can give 10 ⭐️’s, I would. In our current economic state, I could NOT believe how affordable their menu was (in consideration as well of the portions). And of course, more importantly, how it tasted. Everything was well-seasoned and plated. Most notable though? The torched salmon. Melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The staff — the sweetest bunch. I didn’t get to catch their names, but they were so welcoming from the get-go. I celebrated my birthday here with a couple of friends and they prepared so well. From the surprise cake to taking photos & singing. Lastly, beautiful place. I didn’t get to take pictures of the interior, but it was nicely decorated and you know they maintain the place seriously. Clean and fun. Will soooo come back again and again to finish off everything on their menu!
Love it here! The sushi is definitely among the freshest and overall best that I’ve had in the area. The deign is beautiful and extremely comfortable. Perfect for a date night. The drinks are amazing! They have a crazy selection of rums. The staff are all friendly and super accommodating.
Hei Tiki & Sushi’s Bar is a wonderful place to be. I came here with a friend, caught their happy hour. We tried the tacos and the sushi rolls & everything was perfect! The drinks & Ernest, the bartender was accommodating & kind. I definitely want to come back with more friends. Positive vibes ~
Super fun restaurant with beautiful tropical inspired decor! Their drinks and food are stunning! We really enjoyed the virgin mocktail we ordered which features pineapple juice, coconut milk and lime! Also really enjoyed the fried baby octopus and hotate kaiyaki which had such beautiful presentation! The service was wonderful and the bartender was super attentive! Come here if you’re ever looking for a fun and nice spot to dine at in Astoria!
Everything about this cocktail bar/restaurant is fantastic! I came here with a friend and we loved the vibe and aesthetic of the place—it was very summer-y. It reminds me of beach bars in tropical islands! I LOVE Japanese food, so being here was a treat! They also have a sushi counter/bar where you can see the sashimi and sushi being prepared, so you know they’re legit. My friend and I had a hard time picking what we wanted to eat because everything sounded so delicious! We started off with cocktails—they have a ton of drinks in their menu that had cute glasses/containers, and they were all very in line with their summer tiki branding. I ended up getting the Frozen Daiquiri (mango flavored) to cool off, and it was delicious! As for our food, we ended up ordering the Hotate Kaiyaki, Crispy Sushi Taco Trio (spicy tuna, aburi salmon, spicy blue crab), Spicy Combo Platter (spicy salmon, tuna, and yellowtail roll) , and Sushi Deluxe Platter (10pcs chef’s choice nigiri and spicy tuna roll). All of them were presented so nicely, and they all tasted really good! The servings are actually really generous, and the resto did not skimp on any flavors or ingredients. The sushi platters come with miso soup. The Hotate Kaiyaki and Crispy Sushi Taco trio are very interesting dishes, I would recommend those if it’s your first time dining there! As for the sushi & sashimi, they were so fresh and they hit the spot! It’s authentic Japanese food in this restaurant for sure! And finally For dessert, we had the green tea cheesecake which was light and delicious—it was the perfect dessert to have after all the sushi! I also liked how the servers were extremely attentive and nice—they made sure they accommodated us the entire time. Our server gave us his recommendations on the dishes, which helped our decision making process. Overall i am very happy about the quality, taste, and presentation of the food. This is such an underrated gem in Astoria! I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a restaurant/bar to eat at with friends/family to catch up! Given that servings are plenty and there are lots of dishes to try. Prices aren’t so bad either. But in general, this is a must-visit place if you’re into authentic japanese food and fun/delicious cocktails!
This place would normally be 5 stars if it wasn’t for their bartender, Ernest. I have never received such consistently bad and rude service in my life. Otherwise, the other bartender is fantastic and it’s a wonderful place in Astoria. But save yourself and don’t go when Ernest is working.
Great drinks and service sushi is pretty good but not the best at this price point. They have a fun happy hour too! The cocktail menu is very good, with innovative drinks and some classic tiki drinks. Really like their ube pina colada
This place should be 5 stars if it wasn’t for their bartender. I have never received such uncomfortable and rude service in my life. Otherwise, the food and prices are fantastic and it’s a wonderful place in Astoria. But save yourself and don’t sit at bar when Ernest is working.
I loveeeeee the place. I think one of the best restaurant I ever been to. Reminds me of where I came from. Very summer-y and beach-y. Love it. Ordered pork katsu, it was good. Sushi, I cant judge since am not really into sushi, but my friend said it was good too. Ordered chicken karaage as appetizer, it was okay. I had better one before in another place with better sauce/mayo too. Their dessert green tea tiramisu quite good. I like because its small size which is perfect for dessert. A very recommended place. -------------- Went back again there 10/19/25. I ordered their unagi bowl this time, karaage and cranberry crab rangoon. I love their cranberry crab rangoon n karaage, but their unagi, I don't know. I had much better one in Providence. This my second time having unagi in the US. I feel like the one in Providence much better.
Searching for a simple outdoor eatery to accomodate the wife,Myself, daughter and her GoldenDoodle. Found corner eats which acts Japanese but serves Hawaiian dishes, large selections. it was difficult to decide. Loved our meals, Sapporo on Tap. Outside seating was ok with about 5-6 tables. Inside was fairly packed, with a full bar. Was served by 2 young pretty. Friendly young ladies. If the outdoor area was catered to a bit more and the presence of Irritating Flys was less of a bother I would given them 5 stars across. We stopped here after attending the Korean fair and wanted to cool ff somwhere. Will return, probably inside next time, lol
Great service. The drinks are weak. The menu is way too big, unclear if they are going for Japanese or Hawaiian, feels inauthentic. We had the tacos, fish did not taste fresh, low-mid quality. The bartender and server were amazing, top notch service. The food/drinks are not good. Wont go back.
Drinks and atmosphere are great, but bartender said no more than 6 words to us, accidently spilled water all over our stuff and clothes, gave us napkins to clean it up ourselves, and then just dropped the check in front of us without saying anything. Would love to go back for drinks and food, but not with current service.
Had a good time at Hei Tiki. The food was good, the drinks were fine but the service was dead slow. That combined with the fact that website said there was happy hour today but when I asked the waitress she said there wasn't, definitely put a damper on the mood and original plans. Also an outdoor vestibule would do wonders, sitting near the door was a frosty experience.
Had high hopes for this place given that it opened not that long ago. The food was good but the service and drinks were mediocre. The place wasn't busy when we arrived but we waited a while for our order. It seemed that delivery orders was prioritized since I saw a lot of delivery guys come and go. The sushi was fresh and good, but the drinks were a letdown. Considering it's a tiki place, the drinks should have been mind-blowing. They were super sweet and not well balanced. I don't think they necessarily lacked alcohol but they just didn't taste as exotic as I would have expected. Overall, it was an ok experience but probably won't be coming back because it wasn't really worth it overall 🫤
I got three rolls and a side salad. The salad was good but the fish did not taste or look fresh at all. I was disappointed as the atmosphere and other reviews looked very good. Hopefully I can return and try non seafood options.
Hoping this place will find its legs. The atmosphere is great, albeit confusing (tikki + Japanese + Caribbean tunes playing?) and the service is prompt and friendly. However the food itself leaves a lot to be desired. There's nothing wrong with it, but nothing really stands out as good. Everything I had, I easily thought of multiple places that I've had much better of the same dishes, sometimes at a cheaper price. The sushi rolls could use more finesse and seemed like something you'd see at a buffet rather than made to order. Given the prices, I was expecting better food.
This place used to be Highwater and it was one of our favorite spots in Astoria, then it became Hei Tiki. First time we went back it was great, then the next time we went for the happy hour deal and were served with the check before we were even finished. Not to mention the place was empty and nowhere near closing time. We went back more recently to hit up the great happy hour again and were incredibly disappointed with the edamame portion, which was obviously smaller. You get what you pay for I guess. Then I ordered chicken skewers, took a bite, and RAW. Raw cold chicken. Waiter took it back with no apology or any care. We ordered another drink and was met with annoyance by the bartender (Ernest) when a slight customization was requested. We were okay with paying extra, and still it was like pulling teeth. If you want to go for a cheap quick happy hour, save your time and money and go somewhere else.
Wish I could review food. But service was so bad that they didn’t even come to take my order. Had one drink. Would have had 2nd one if they didn’t take 20min to check on a customer with an empty drink. As a restaurant manager myself I am shocked. The guy refilling waters (busboy/barback?) is the only reliable. “Bartender” never at the bar. If good service could have been a good spot. But definitely not coming back.
