Amazing dining experience! The atmosphere is warm and inviting with an upscale vibe and beautiful view! It was so cool seeing how the restaurant incorporated the building’s history into Canoe today. The service was top notch, specifically Carrie and Hartman were phenomenal very informed about their menu and made great detailed suggestions! The cold smoked salmon was recommended by Carrie, Hartman, and the valet and it did not disappoint, the kangaroo was a standout as well! To finish it off Hartman told us about the popcorn sundae and it was the perfect finishing. 10/10 for Carrie and Hartman and we will definitely be back!

A friend was in town and visiting so I decided to come here and have a meal. And what a great experience this was! All the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. One my friends mentioned the portions were reasonable so everyone could try a variety of items. Another one said that she felt very well taken care of as everyone was helping out making sure we had a good time. I personally love how attentive our server Dalano was; he course out all of our food so everything came to our table in due fashion and we never felt rushed. This was a great memorable experience that I feel everyone should try at least once. Be it for pleasure or a special occasion, Canoe is a restaurant that truly cares about doing things right to keep the outstanding reputation they've held for over 30 years. Absolutely recommend!

This was the most wonderful brunch experience. Julia was probably the best server we'd ever had. The pastries were splendid, the salmon appetizer could not have been better. Everything we ate was absolutely amazing. Then, we were able to sit outside in the Adirondack chairs in the sunshine for a while. A wonderful afternoon.

Had a beautiful anniversary brunch. The staff were wonderful. Everyone wishing us a happy anniversary made the experience even more special. Steve was our server. He was knowledgeable, quick and truly a joy. We decided right then we would come back another night for dinner.

Lived in metro Atl gor over 25+ years and this was the 1st I had the pleasure of dining at Canoe. My expectations were very high and to be honest, they were exceeded. The food, the serves, and the atmosphere all were amazing. I started off with the kangaroo for an appetizer, the duck burger for my meal, and spiced apple sorbet for desert. Everything was outstanding! Can't wait to return.

We made a last minute decision to eat dinner here during our quick trip to ATL and we are so glad we did. We did not have a reservation but the manager found us a table. It was a lovely atmosphere and delicious food! Hubby ordered the steak which was delectable! I had the burger which was pretty good- not the best I’ve had, but the fries were fantastic! Our server was Karen and she was an absolute gem! Very attentive, informative and sweet. We enjoyed our walk around the gardens after dinner and what a beautiful venue it is! There was a wedding reception happening and what a great venue to get married at! We would definitely return.

First visit and it was definitely worthwhile! The food and service is beyond amazing! Our server was very sweet and the food was really love at first bite. The menu has many options and things that may be new to try, I really enjoyed it! We plan to go back for Brunch one day to try more delicious dishes.

Proposed to my (now) Fiancé here just a few weeks ago and the experience lingered with me. The food was absolutely phenomenal and everyone was so friendly! I can’t recommend sitting on the patio enough. Canoe did a killer job with both atmosphere and quality of food. I can’t wait to be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Dining Experience! Canoe is hands-down one of the best restaurants in Atlanta and not just for the food (which is exceptional), but for the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, the riverside setting felt like a hidden oasis, with lush greenery and a serene atmosphere that made dinner feel like an escape from the city. The menu is creative yet rooted in Southern-inspired flavors. We started with the kangaroo and salmon canoes as appetizers (a must-try!) and the duck for main course bursting with freshness and balance.. And save room for dessert was heavenly! What truly sets Canoe apart is the impeccable service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made fantastic recommendations without being intrusive. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to savor each course. Whether it’s a special occasion or a romantic date night, Canoe delivers on every level. The combination of stellar food, ambiance, and hospitality makes it worth every penny. Can’t wait to return!

So are we in a huge canoe or no? If I drink enough, I’m going with YES! This spot has the whole enchanted forest with a river running through it vibe. Pretty neat. We got the oysters because oysters are vitamins. If they are on the menu, I am ordering them. They were perfectly cold and briny. The bread basket is a huge show here. Go for it and get one of each. There’s servers are good about convincing you anyway! My main was a shrimp pasta dish that was creamy, garlicky, and inhaled way too fast. Canoe always gets it right. Well done!

It was a phenomenal experience ♥️ My husband treated me to a beautiful breakfast for our anniversary & this place was perfect. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect with a beautiful view of the Chattahoochee River, & the service was impeccable. I wish I would’ve taken more pictures.

I was hoping for outdoors dining with a campfire or fireplace but it wasn't available during our visit. Staff was nice, food was good and atmosphere was pleasant (fairly light and quiet) despite being busy.

We came in for our anniversary dinner and sat on the patio with Jessica. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about all the food and wine to help guide us through our choices throughout the evening. We didn’t just go out to eat for a meal, Jessica created a full experience for us! 10/10 evening!

Second time coming here to Canoe and it was better than the last! Staff is very professional and friendly. Being right next to the river really elevates the experience here. The food was delicious and met my expectations. Definitely recommend the smoked salmon on potato cakes. Such an interesting way to serve such a tasty fish. I got the Cod and it was phenomenal. The grilled rapini and purple sweet potato were seasoned to perfection. We finished out the meal with the popcorn ice cream since it’s their specialty and it was worth the hype. It was perfectly sweet and the popcorn gave it a great balance of flavor. Hopefully get to come back again soon!

I recently hosted a 70th Birthday Celebration for about 50 guests at the River Garden Tent at Canoe Restaurant, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and care. Kelly and Dolly, the Special Event Coordinators, were incredibly helpful throughout the planning process—attentive to every detail and always available to answer questions or offer guidance. On the night of the event, Vanessa and Kyle led the onsite coordination, and thanks to their attentiveness and seamless execution, the evening was absolutely flawless. The food was outstanding—from the beautifully presented canapés to the delicious entrées, every bite was top-notch. However, what truly set the night apart was the impeccable service. The entire staff, from the bartenders to the servers, were not only highly professional but also genuinely friendly and welcoming. It was 5-star service in every sense. If you’re considering hosting an event in Atlanta, look no further than Canoe. The setting is stunning, the food is fantastic, and the service is world-class. I couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to help celebrate such a special milestone.

Our server Herschel was delightful, the food was delicious, and the view was amazing! We saw a few hummingbirds and had a baby frog visit our table. Save room for the peach cobbler and popcorn ice cream! Can't wait to go back again!

I took the person I love out here and we had a fantastic time. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was truly divine. If you want a romantic dinner, it would be very hard to go wrong here.

Hands down this restaurant has the most courteous staff and service is just outstanding. We want for lunch and absolutely loved it. Highly recommend to sit outside. Beautiful view. Food came out perfect. We were stuffed and happy. Tracee was awesome, one of the best servers.

Wow! Canoe always rises to the top. I’ve been loving the experience at Canoe since the restaurant on the riverbank opened and celebrated decades of birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, business lunches, family gatherings and date nights. Thank you Canoe, for an amazing 50th Birthday with family.

Came here for a birthday celebration brunch. This restaurant is right in the Chattahoochee River with an incredible view and grounds! They have a unique menu of both breakfast and lunch items for brunch. The food was top notch! But standout above all else was definitely the service.

Visited Canoe to celebrate a birthday and everything turned out great! The service as soon as we walked in with the hostess was on point. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, especially with the pairing of wines with our apps and dinner. We had kangaroo for the 1st time... exquisite. I ordered the duck breast and he had a duck/beef burger. Everything was cooked perfectly. They brought him a birthday ice cream which was popcorn flavored... omg... it almost made me cry how good it was lol I thank Canoe for helping me celebrate a very special birthday.

I always love eating here!! The location is phenomenal and so is the food. Such a creative interesting menu and I love how it’s different every time I come back. We’ve been coming for our anniversary for a few years now and they do a nice job of celebrating us! Honorable mention to the smoked salmon appetizer which we must get everytime!

It was our anniversary date and we put a lot of time and effort into finding a fine dine restaurant in Atlanta. This place surely lived up to our expectations. Customer service was great, from the moment of walking through the door they knew our name and treated us kindly with attention to our needs. We tried the butternut squash soup with coconut water, which made it a light appetizer with exotic flavors. One of my favorites was the other appetizer, the kangaroo. I was early excited to try it, and the mix of sweet and spiced flavors created a great balance in my mouth. Our entrees were the lamb with mushroom stroganoff and rabbit with the risotto and pears on top(I loved that one), which were also greatly made. The popcorn ice cream sundae was slightly overhyped for me but it was still delicious and of course sweet. Thank you for the experience! :)

Canoe has cemented itself as one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. The front desk staff on entrance seemed very excited, and once our water got to the table we realized that all of the staff are very cheery and seem legitimately excited to be there. Our waiter was not in a hurry, seemed to really want to explain every detail of every dish to us, and really seemed to care about what he was doing. The pacing was great, the server worked around what we wanted, overall the most personable and best service I have ever had in a restaurant. As for the food, it was quite good. All of the dishes were very well thought out, well seasoned, and showed good use of the core ingredients and flavors at hand. The pork chop was good, and the rabbit dish used the flavors of the meat excellently. As for drinks, the cocktails were some of the best I have had. If you are a gin drinker, I highly suggest trying the Mint to Bee on your next visit. Canoe will absolutely be on my must return to list for my next special occasion, and I highly recommend it!

I've been to Canoe a number of times over the years, and they have consistently delivered on, or exceeded expectations - enough so, that we have committed to hosting our wedding with them. Last night, in particular, I wanted to highlight my outstanding experience with Della as our server during our tasting. She is clearly very experienced and well-organized in her role. As a business owner, myself, I understand that having the right people on your team is what truly makes or breaks the experience for your clients. Della is one of those people that takes her role seriously, and understands how important every touchpoint is. I can't say enough about the professionalism, the experience, and of course, the quality of the food. My fiance and I are very much looking forward to our upcoming wedding here.

Off the chain! I took my fiancée here and it was an incredible meal. First time trying Kangaroo & Rabbit and both exceeded my expectations. The buttery popcorn dessert + the sweet potatoe crème brûlée was amazing. Shout out to Steve for the superb service. He was so awesome and will remember this meal and his service! We will definitely be visiting again!

It is by far my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. It's in a lovely setting with exemplary service and knowledgeable staff who are customer focused. The food is always delicious - you can tell the chef knows what he's doing and the ingredients are always fresh

Today will go down as an experience like no other! A friend and associates of Canoe suggested that myself and family members should try a different and unique style of dining. Kason Glenn I give you 5 Star ⭐ for that suggestion. Our server was named Brook, which was very knowledgeable of every entree, and appetizers on the menu. Our seating arrangement and view for the six of us was excellent. We were celebrating a birthday and pre-Christmas brunch. I can assure the managerial staff and Mr. Glenn that we will return in the very near future. Our first experience were outstanding. Thanks Canoe for making our day and Christmas celebration a grand experience. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I was in town visiting, and this was hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. I tried the lamb (my first time ever having it), and it was cooked to perfection so tender and easily one of the best entrées I’ve had. The ambiance was great, and our server was wonderful, too. And I have food allergies, and they were incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable. They clearly explained what ingredients were in each dish and helped me navigate the menu with confidence.

Overall, a great lunch option with incredible service, and a beautiful location. Great for a business lunch, but the food is really at expectation, and did not exceed. The service was truly top-notch! We ordered the truffle fries, which are very good, and then two cod sandwiches, which I thought was solid, but not exceptional. The desserts were great, we got the sweet potato crème brûlée and the soufflé cake.

Came here with my Girlfriend to enjoy a unique menu. Started out with kangaroo. It was quite nice. Lightly seasoned, pepery, very tender, but only lukewarm. It was a nice started and would recommend however for four small bites at $20 the temperature and/or quantity could have been elevated. For the mains I ordered the rabbit which was tender, flavor profile of a hen but a little firmer, and not too gamey. The rabbit was cooked well, and quite flavorful. Portions were decent in size and I thoroughly enjoyed. My Girlfriend ordered the duroc porkchop which was nice aswell. Everything was quite nice. I do think there is room for slight improvement on the flavor profile and temperature of the food served. 2 small comes for $10 4/5 stars for everything

Canoe is a feast for the senses before you ever take a bite. The setting is absolutely stunning — nestled right on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the restaurant takes full advantage of its location with panoramic views and beautifully maintained gardens that feel like a hidden retreat. Whether you're enjoying golden hour on the terrace or wandering through the grounds before your meal, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. The menu offers a fabulous selection, clearly crafted with care and seasonal influence. There’s a sense of sophistication without being overly fussy, and the variety should appeal to a wide range of palates. Unfortunately, the execution on the night we visited didn’t quite match the promise. Our appetizer didn’t arrive until after our entrees — a noticeable lapse in timing. To their credit, the staff was gracious and comped the dish without hesitation, handling it professionally. The main course, however, missed the mark. The fish was dry, and the accompanying risotto lacked the creaminess and texture one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber — both slightly overcooked and underwhelming. While the service was kind and attentive throughout, the kitchen seemed to have an off night. Despite the hiccups, the charm and beauty of Chattahoochee River make it a destination worth returning to — hopefully next time, with food that lives up to the breathtaking setting.

First time at Canoe, and I was so underwhelmed. The food sounded great on paper, but the flavor was lacking. I will give it another try though. Maybe dinner is better than brunch.

Not a lot of variety. Chicken tacos were bland. Would not order again. Squash soup was phenomenal! Next time I may order 2 bowls of soup! :)

Location and decor were great and the service was fantastic. Food was a little hit or miss. Some dishes were tasty but others lacked flavor. Velvet cake tasted freezer burnt and a bit dry. Best part was the service and the attention to detail was one of the best I've experienced.

Came to celebrate my daughter birthday on 6/19 around lunch time. Our waiter Julie was nice and attentive. The egg rolls appetizer was delicious. The white beans under the tacos did not have the same consistency. There were some that were very under cooked and some that were cooked just right but not smushy. I did note it to Julie but apparently it's done like that on purpose she said to me so maybe that's why no accommodations were offered to me. That part wasn't good to eat for me. The beans that were hard were too crunchy but then there were a few soft ones that were cooked well in the mix. I didn't feel like having to pick out the ones that were cooked thoroughly so I just didn't eat them at all. My daughter had the pasta and she liked it. Dessert was ok. I purchased the popcorn one for my daughter and I had the creme brulee. Such a big plate for a very small dessert that wasn't centered. A good amount of money so expected a little better presentation.

Had dinner at Canoe. The service was exceptional. 3 to 4 appetizers. The only disappointment was the pate. Canoe if your reading this your pate needs seasoning and needs to taste like a pate. Use duck liver or goose. Something to give it a good flavor. The monk fish, lamb, venison were all very good. My critic on the entrees. The sauces used on the venison, kangaroo app, and lamb are all very similar. I would work on some variation on this. Finally the popcorn 🍿 desert is excellent. Its just to big... put it in a tall thin or short glass. Its just to much and doesn't follow the canoe theme of small and tasteful. Again the service was stepping back in time and was 5 star..

We ate brunch here Sunday. Everything about this place was perfect except for the entrees. The rose, the she-crab soup, & the pastries were all amazing. The service was top-notch & the atmosphere/physical space was perfection. We were so disappointed in our main dishes though. We are going to try again for dinner soon. Maybe we will have a better food experience.

Went for an informal birthday brunch. Sat outside in the patio as the inside was fairly cold and loud. The patio did provide a reprieve from the heat of the sun but was warmer - for me it was bearable. Plus the view from outside of the river is calming. Had a duck-beef burger that was kind of dry and lacked taste; used a lot of ketchup to get it down. However the truffle fries that came with it were AMAZING! Ordered a side of the French toast - bread is thick but didn’t seem to have a lot of an egg mixture common for French toast. The maple syrup is good. The roasted chicken is a large portion of meat. Service on the patio was a bit spotty - kept having to ask for my water glass to be refilled. They did a nice mini dessert with a candle for the celebration. Parking / valet gets really busy during peak times so be prepared to wait. Had to tell the hostess the bathroom was out of paper towels. The Andes mints provided with the check were kind of stale. Took some from the container by the hostess stand - also stale. Overall, great location with a calming view (can’t say beautiful because the river is very cloudy/muddy). There is an outdoor bar near the river and spots for lounging after your meal. Seems to need more attention to detail. Although appears to be very popular with the senior crowd.

Overall, the experience was disappointing. I have reviewed over 500 restaurants on Google maps and I would put this in the bottom quartile of the price point. First, let me start with the positives. The kangaroo appetizer was delicious. It sat on a bed of chickpeas, I believe. The drinks were delicious. We were a group of eight and several of us agreed that the best dish was the bread. I especially loved the cranberry bread. This is a nice facility with lots of outdoor space, including a view of the river and an outdoor bar. The restaurant can get loud at times inside due to the acoustics. I gave the food four stars instead of five because the scallop gnocchi was underwhelming. The bacon overpowered any flavor you could get from the scallops. Four of us at the table ordered it and none was impressed. The plating for the dish was off, literally all the food sat in about 40% of the large plate leaving a very big void that could have been filled in with garnish or the dish could have been served on a smaller plate. I gave the service one star because they were borderline rude. Examples: (1) my chair was bumped at least five times last night, so often so that the person sitting next to me noticed (2) we ordered sparkling water and the person pouring ice water didn't want to hear it and basically said we would get it anyway. The main server had to bring us new glasses (3) The server roughly interrupted conversation flow several times and she even admittedly wanted to interrupt us. I can empathize that at some point you need to get the ordering going, but at this price point I would think there would be better training on how to gracefully interrupt. After all, good conversation is part of a great dining experience. Net net, this is a good restaurant. Perhaps on a bad night. If I were to come back I would sit outside.

Canoe has some great highlights, especially the pastries and smoked salmon appetizer — super fresh, flavorful, and really well done. The caramelized cream cheese with scones is a unique and tasty combo. The garden is also adorable and perfect for a lazy afternoon. Our waiter was also very friendly and attentive. But the entrees were very much a letdown. The crispy shrimp salad (essentially a deconstructed shrimp po’boy) is very heavy and has way too much sauce. The breakfast plates were underwhelming. The scrambled eggs came out cold on the first try, and while they were hot the second time, there was no seasoning whatsoever on the eggs. The bacon was inconsistent- some pieces crisp, others soft and greasy, and the potatoes were dry and simply forgettable

We love Canoe. We've been many times and we always look forward to eating here. The food and service and atmosphere is what we love it for. The last few times we have been to Canoe we are noticing that the DRESS CODE is not enforced which is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. There is a giant sign at the front door and it's on the website. Today, my entire family was dressed very nicely for a Sunday brunch as were the majority of the clientele in the restaurant. People dress to come to Canoe. It's a thing. I was seated next to a 4-top of two forty-something couples. All four were wearing (men and women) baseball hats, T-shirts, ratty sneakers, sunglasses on the brims on their hats. They looked like they got lost on the way to Cornhole tournament at a micro brewery somewhere. Maybe they were hitting Sam's Club on the way home? The rest of the restaurant, I see women and men dressed up elegantly but this 4-top stuck out like a sore thumb. We keep thinking it's a one off, but the last 3 times we've been to Canoe, it's happened where they just let anyone in looking like slobs. Canoe. Do better. If I'm going to pay $200+ for 3 people to eat brunch, I don't want to look at this. Enforce your dress code. I'm sure everyone will appreciate it. As you say... It's a form of respect to the other diners and you people dressed for Waffle House disrespected everyone in the restaurant today--including your staff.

After celebrating events in our lives at Canoe for 25 years, I was excited to take a friend to lunch to celebrate her birthday and retirement from the military base in Korea. When we arrived for our 11:45 reservation I let them know it was her birthday and that the website did not allow me to enter that information. “it’s my friends birthday and her first time to Canoe, please give her a great view” We were taken to the back of the restaurant to a tiny table (#107 on the bill) it had a view of the white warehouse tent in the back. While there were plenty of open tables on the river side. The tables were so close together we had to ask the lady to move her chair so my friend to stand up to leave. The service was ok. I had to ask for bread and remind them 3 times it was my friend’s birthday. I was so upset by the time we left I was shaking. I have never had such a horrible experience it was like we were at Shoney’s instead of Canoe. While I plan to never return, I do hope the drastic difference from my usual Canoe experience wasn’t because of my friend’s race. I really don’t know what else to think.

This is a very popular restaurant but after my experience I will not return. The restaurant is loud, so loud it is difficult to have a conversation. Although this is not the fault of the restaurant, there was someone at the table next to us who was vaping releasing an unpleasant odor and toxins into the air. We had the apple salad and the Kangaroo for appetizers. They were good, nothing special but they were good. The bread service is odd, you get one piece of bread per person brought to you by a server. For entrees we got the venison and the salmon. The venison dinner was on the cold side of lukewarm, maybe that is how this restaurant serves that particularly dish but I prefer my food warm or hot. The salmon entree was delicious, my wife really enjoyed it. Service was attentive although they were busy so there was some understandable delays with refilling water and with bringing the check. The restaurant was able to seat us right at our reservation time which was impressive given how busy they were. Overall it seems that many people like this restaurant and maybe it was just me that got them on a bad night.

Super disappointed. Went for Valentines day. Ordered beef tenderloin meal. Thinking tenderloin = filet. I recieved a teres major (fake tenderlion from the Chuck.....not actual tenderloin) that was on the verge on being spoiled. Also it came out closer to medium and even medium well in places as opposed to being medium rare. But center was mid rare, since its a lopsided cut. Honestly it was the worst piece of steak ive ever eaten in my life. And I cooked 20 years professionally Mashed potatoes were lumpy AND gummy which is honestly impressive. Labeled as truffle mashed. No discernible flavor other than potato starch and potato skin. Would've worked better as wall plaster than feeding actual paying guests. The tuna appetizer was solid. Had too much dill and was severely underportioned with 2-3 super thin slices, but flavor and presentation was good. I wasnt expecting huge portions or anything, just the ratio of fish to veg was too lopsided. Desserts were good, had popcorn sundae, which was whimsical and fun, but pretty pedestrian flavor wise. The chocolate cremiux presented well but brownies were hard and dry, the chocolate ganache had good texture but flavor was pretty muted and didnt wow. Also pedestrian flavor wise. Overall, maybe it was a bad night, maybe I didnt choice the best dishes. The place obviously knows what they are doing from a service and presentation standpoint. The food, which I had the highest of hopes for, failed miserably on execution. Everything looked great at least, but charging 70 for a tenderlion that isn't a tenderlion and it being of such poor quality is a shame. Ill give place another shot in the future but i suppose ill lower my expectations for the price points. Ill be paying for service and not necessarily the execution of the food

I visited the restaurant this afternoon for lunch with two friends. I had high expectations and had been wanting to dine here for some time because of the great reviews, atmosphere, and overall vibe. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the service, particularly from our server. He repeatedly brought bottles of sparkling water without asking us first, even when previous bottles were not finished. In total, three bottles were brought to the table without our consent, and we were later charged for them. One bottle was almost completely full when we finished our meal. We raised this concern, and the charge was eventually removed, but it was frustrating and disappointing to have to address this in the first place. For a restaurant of this caliber, bringing items without informing guests or receiving their consent is unacceptable. Another limitation was the lack of variety on the lunch menu. Additionally, the food quality was not impressive, particularly the ribeye (too dry) and the fried shrimp salad we ordered. Given our high expectations, the overall experience was somewhat disappointing. I hope the restaurant can improve its service practices so future customers do not have a similar experience.

We chose Canoe for Valentine’s Day because we wanted the night to feel special. Instead, we left feeling completely overlooked and honestly pretty hurt. We understand Valentine’s Day is busy. We weren’t expecting perfection. But our server, Alex J, checked on us once the entire night. Meanwhile, we watched her refill drinks at the tables next to us multiple times, check in on them repeatedly, and bring bread to every surrounding table except ours. We kept thinking she would come back, but she never did. It wasn’t just slow service, it felt like we were being ignored. Seeing other tables get attentive service while we sat there waiting was frustrating and honestly embarrassing. Valentine’s Day is supposed to feel special, and instead we felt like an afterthought. This experience really upset us. We expected much better from Canoe, especially on a night that means a lot to people. We hope this feedback is taken seriously, because no one should feel invisible while celebrating something important.
