We had lunch at Tomo Atlanta, and it truly lived up to its Michelin Select recognition. The sushi was high-quality and incredibly fresh, and the lunch menu offered excellent value for the price. The restaurant had a bright and welcoming atmosphere, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally kind and polite, adding to the overall positive experience. The bento box included tempura, noodles, salad, and more, making it fun to enjoy a variety of dishes in one meal. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish — definitely a place I would love to visit again.
An amazing time at a great sushi spot. The staff was absolutely amazing and the food was even better. Loved the passion fruit dessert and the rolls. Was a great recommendation that I’m glad we tried out.
A few friends and myself came early before our reservation. As soon as we walked in, we were seated. The waitress was very informative, polite, and attentive to our needs. She answered every question, despite the amount of them we had, and I already knew that I wasn't going to regret my decision when the food came out. The food didn't take but a few minutes. My Lobster Ritz Roll was without flaw. It had a creamy egg sauce, thick roll size, and the best quality lobster I have ever had in my life. The Ocean 6 Roll had a strong kick with the drop of Serrano sauce on the jalapeno slice; just the way I like. The variety of fish in that roll complimented each other. I ordered the lamb entrée as well. The rare chops were as juicy and tender as a sirloin, and the edemame went well with their complimentary soy sauce. The passion fruit cheesecake took the cake of all cheesecakes. They were two small cubes, but the passion fruit were expressed well without overpowering the taste of the cheesecake. Thank you Lesley for amazing customer service, Tomo's chefs and cooks for an amazing meal, and Tomo for an amazing experience.
Had an amazing time at Tomo for dinner! The sushi was fantastic, and Hannah at bar made my night so much more enjoyable with her friendly conversation, inviting energy, and impressive knowledge of the menu. Will definitely come back!
Intimate space. Not too large. Beautiful full bar area. Expansive and creative sushi menu. Excellent service. Reservations are recommended if you’re visiting during peak periods. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Paid parking adjacent. It has become one of my ATL favorites.
We booked a last-minute birthday dinner for my wife here and left genuinely impressed. I'd always assumed this place was just another fancy restaurant in The Ritz-Carlton Residences, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The space is elegant but not all that pretentious, and the service was warm and attentive. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. Every dish we ordered brought something unique—nothing felt standard or predictable. All in all, a memorable evening. We'll definitely be back.
I had lunch at Tomo. We got the fried oysters, seared tuna salad, dashi, and fried veggie tempura as appetizers. The melon tempura was wonderful. We also got several pieces of sashimi, but that tuna was the best of them all. The dessert selection was what truly surprised me. The matcha tiramisu and passion fruit cheesecake were bomb. The yuzu sorbet was perfectly tangy. Also, here are menu prices because I kept looking before visiting and even called and could not get actual numbers. My curiosity got the better of me and I went anyway. I am glad I did!
We can for tuna Tuesday and we were so impressed!!!! This was truly a one of a kind experience and our server hannah made our night so special. I would definitely suggest sitting at the bar she is an absolute hoot to talk to ❤️😍
The portions are small and pricey but very very good. It is an experience to go and have such wonderful food prepared. We went with mostly fish and it was all delicious. We did try the lamb chop and it was amazing. Because we were there for the first time, we wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we concentrated on appetizers. The meal would have been far less expensive if we had had more main dishes, but it was a great dining experience and I would not change any of our decisions.
Attended the Tuesday Tuna cutting ceremony with a party of 12. The staff was friendly and accommodating. From beginning to end, everything we ordered tasted delicious. We had the special tuna cuts, cocktails, appetizers, sushi rolls, and dessert. I would love to come back for happy hour or lunch to try more of their delicious menu.
Best sushi I’ve ever had! It is not too expensive and totally worth! The service was great from the reception to leave, the only upside is say is the parking (which is paid) and the lack of signs indicating the restaurant, other than that, 5⭐️
I visited Tomo for girls night out and I was not disappointed. First, the service was AMAZING! The service topped everything outside of the lamp chops (delicious). The environment was upscale casual and comfortable. I would visit again for sure. The only down side, this could've been poor reading on my part, but only valet parking was validated. If you parked in the adjacent deck, it is not validated by the restaurant.
Really an amazing experience. The sushi chefs were friendly and knowledgeable. I said at the sushi bar and was not disappointed. I had the sushi sashimi combo which you see in the picture posted here. The fish was fresh tender and it was a fairly good selection. I recommend anyone in the Buckhead area check it out.
Good food = good mood! I loved how their represent the food, and all that i ordered come out fresh, would like to try the omakase for next! 🥰
I was out and about looking for delicious sushi and a friend who lives nearby recommended Tomo. By far, my favorite sushi place in Buckhead. The service was great; I sat at the bar and Olivia and May helped me decide on my roll (Ocean 6). So good - healthy and fresh - great recommendation for the roll given that I was going for a healthier roll and leaner fish. For apps, I also ordered the crab jalapeño roll and the tuna roll. The crab jalapeño roll has huge pieces of fresh crab and was delicious! The tuna roll was simple yet tasty; you could tell the tuna was fresh. For sake, Olivia let me sample the Otokoyama sake which I ended up ordering it hot. Loved the atmosphere, the food and service. Also, valet is validated. Highly recommend and I’ll be back soon
Woooh wow. The food was super tasty and I had really great time there. The price was super expensive of course because I guess that’s the hype of fusion Japanese food. However, the servers, food performance, cleanness, and taste was so good. Just be aware, it’s very expensive! But it’s definitely worth it for some celebration.
Took my wife for omikase this past weekend for a nice dinner date. And boy did Tomo deliver! The sushi chef San and server Tommy were a splendid team! We felt like royalty with the delicious food and amazing service. We would highly recommend for omikase!
Went for Omakase twice! You can pick tiers on how expensive the ingredients will be ~ chef tomo is very charismatic and fun to host too! I enjoyed sharing drinks and our fun conversations! My group enjoyed the events both times~ booking the reservation was easy. I emailed them and they ask for allergies or food sensitivities~ there’s valet parking or just pass them for self parking in the deck ~
We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here and had the best omakase dinner! Thank you chef Soemali and Tomo staff for an exceptional experience. They tailor your omakase according to your budget. One of the best culinary experience we had in Georgia.
Went to Tomo for a weeknight dinner with some friends. Wasn’t crowded when we arrived and we were served quickly. Our server was very helpful, recommending a variety of items on the menu. We had tempura and the crab jalepeno for appetizers. The crab jalepeno was less spicy than we thought it would be. We ordered a variety of rolls and all of them were exceptionally delicious. 24K roll and Ocean 6 were are favorites. We also did the table top scallops toban yaki which was quite flavorful. The Okinawa sunrise cocktail was also very tasty. Overall, we left full and happy.
Great place for delicious sushi with down to earth services. Their omakase is an experience and so good; seating is limited, so you'll need to reserve much in advance.
Joined some friends for Omakase last month, Cliff and the waitresses were very kind and patient on our arrival! Chef Tomo was wonderful at his presentations and it was awesome to watch him put everything together. Every part of this meal was delicious and unique. What a fun experience!
Right from walking in, I had a great experience. Mae was really sweet and funny. She helped us pick some great rolls and nigiri. I really loved the ritz roll and the garlic otoro roll. Each bite is fresh, flavorful and delicate. Really great cocktails too!
Absolutely amazing experience. I did the chefs omakase which means chefs choice. You must call ahead to reserve and set a budget, but worth every penny. This was by far the top Japanese meal I have ever had. Chef Tomo is very personable and is great to have a conversation with. Tried many things I have never tried before. I will definately be back to do it again.
The brunch was a great deal. All you can drink and eat. It was pricey but the fact that you can order as much good quality sushi as you would like made it worth it. The unagi and teriyaki salmon also had amazing flavor. Very smoky and charred. The unagi did have an interesting numbing sensation afterwards (Sichuan peppercorns?). My favorite thing that was offered was the seared fatty tuna. I would recommend going with mainly the seafood and not really going with things that would fill you up (eg. ramen, fried rice, etc…) I see myself coming back and having the sushi again (the sushi was better than the maki in my opinion).
Went for Omakase, and had one of the best meals of my life. Manager Cliff was excellent in setting up the reservation, and was prompt in returning emails. Chef Tomo was an amazing host and described each course wonderfully! Will be back again for sure
I gave Tomo five stars because the sushi is fresh and their dishes/rolls are delicious. But I feel that I can find other sushi places in Atlanta of the same quality but with out the high premium cost to eat there.
Tomo is top level Japanese. Their model is similar to Nobu, but their prices and the quality of the food are noticeably better.
hannah was truly the highlight of our experience! definitely recommend sitting at the bar to have her as your very knowledgeable bartender and server for tuna tuesday and got to enjoy the live show and enjoy the delicious fatty tuna. 10/10 recommend
Our experience is always perfect at Tomo. The menu has many options and everything is delicious. The service is unmatched! We drive two hours to Atlanta to have a date night at Tomo, it’s that good! May is always ready to assist us in making the best selections for our diverse palates. She is amazing!
Came here for the tuna tuesday experience and were blown away with the food and service. Our server and bartender, Hannah, was so welcoming and knowledgeable. We can’t wait to come back!
Amazing experience for Tuna Tuesday! The food was great, and Hannah made my night so much more enjoyable and fun. Definitely recommend this experience!
Went for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend for the first time and was blown away by how good the food was. The appetizers and Signature Chef Rolls were out of this world and genuinely some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Our server Tommy was awesome and Keith was very helpful too. Will definately be coming back soon!
For starters. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Simple classy with relaxing music playing. We came on a Thursday night and the energy was so still and I really have to say this is one of my favorite dining experiences in ATL. Best Japanese food in atlanta. Very fresh and authentic menu options. Our wonderful server Keith delivered a professional and enjoyable experience and even recommend some yummy rolls! The manager was also very friendly and personable. The matcha tiramisu was a DREAM! A must have before you go. I will definitely be back and this place is ranked very high in my personal favorites. Amazing staff, amazing food, amazing hospitality. Thank you <3
I was here last Saturday and wow. My waitress, Lesley, was amazing. Not only was she super nice, she was very attentive about my Allium allergy. I was able to relax with my partner and have a nice, worry-free meal. If you decide to eat here, make sure to ask for Lesley.
never did i think i would experience a live tuna carving in atlanta but lo and behold tomo delivered. my friend recommended this place especially on their tuna tuesdays and im so glad i was able to go. this is a truly one of a kind service and im so glad we were able to have hannah as our server. she was a blast and so knowledgeable about the tuna and all the drinks. would highly suggest getting the otoro and the rib meat scraping.
We had the Chef’s Omakase and it was absolutely amazing! Every course was beautifully prepared and full of flavor — a true culinary experience. Our waitress, May, was wonderful and made the evening even better with her great suggestions and warm personality. The atmosphere was intimate and elegant, perfect for a special night out. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in Atlanta.
I ate at this place last year while on business. From the time I walked in the door until the time we walked out we were treated like royalty. The service was unbelievable as well as the food. I ended up taking clients back a few nights later for the Omakase Experience. They knocked it out of the park. I am happy to say I am traveling back this week and will be dining again!!
We recently dined at Tomo Japanese Restaurant and had a great experience overall. We tried the Japanese snapper nigiri, fatty tuna nigiri, 24K roll, and jalapeño crab. Most of the items were fresh and well-prepared, with the fatty tuna being our favorite—melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The presentation was top-notch, and the service was friendly and attentive. However, the nigiri pieces were smaller than expected, and the rice-to-fish ratio felt off, making the flavor less balanced. Some dishes, like the 24K roll, looked stunning but lacked depth in taste. Also, while the ambiance was nice, the seating felt a bit cramped during peak hours. That said, it's still a solid spot for sushi lovers, and we would definitely come back to try more dishes.
I came here with some friends for my birthday and decided to go with the tasting menu which included a wide chef's selection of small plates that added up to about 6-8 courses, we enjoyed a variety of things including waygu, raw oysters, salad, dessert, sashimi selection, and sushi. Everything was very good but I only wish that there was less time between courses as it felt like there was often a lot of down time between one plate and the next, I also wish there was more sushi incorporated into the tasting menu. Regardless, it was all very delicious and found the fatty tuna to be my favorite, even more than waygu.
I went here for Mother’s Day and it was decent. They offered a AYCE sushi from the selected menu for $125 but opted to just get the chirashi. The fish was pretty good and overall dish was good. Only thing is the group gratuity added was 23% which is pretty high but since it’s a nicer spot okay.. but they added a credit card surcharge of 3% which I wasn’t aware of until I got the bill after paying. I can’t think of the last place I went to that charged that.
During our recent trip to Atlanta, one of my weekly sushi cravings hit hard, so we decided to try Tomo. My husband and I categorize sushi spots depending on our mood: super casual, mid-range chic, and Really Fancy™ (this is usually when we're doing omakase). Tomo definitely falls in the mid-range chic category, in my opinion. It was bright and fairly busy with the first shift dinner crowd. We were seated at a nice window table towards the back of the restaurant. To start, we ordered the Kampachi Serrano (kampachi sashimi, garlic, Serrano pepper, and yuzu soy sauce) and the Hanabi, which was a crispy rice topped with spicy tuna, crunchy garlic and Serrano pepper). For our mains, we decided to get two of the Chef's Signature Rolls: the Oceans 6 and the Garlic Pepper Toro Roll. Everything was DELICIOUS. So fresh, interesting flavour profiles that I haven't really experienced with sushi rolls. I don't think the food stayed on our table for longer than 10 minutes, we absolutely inhaled it, it was that good. The service was great, too. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and very patient with us when we changed our mind a few times (it's so hard to choose sometimes!). If you're looking for quality, fresh fish with dynamic and bold flavours that won't cost an arm and leg, then I'd recommend checking out Tomo. We will definitely be going back to Tomo the next time we're in Atlanta!
My friend Frank first introduced me to Tomo three years ago. It’s truly sad I didn’t know about it earlier. Consistency and quality is the bread and butter of this restaurant. Every piece of sashimi and nigri is fresh and the beat cut of the fish. Presentation also adds to the appeal. We started with one of my favorite appetizers the soft shell crab. Our second dish was a new Usuzuki, the presentation of this particular dish was thoughtful and helpful. You only need a sliver of the gelatinized ponzu sauce as the fish is delicate and to get the right combination of fish, spice and salty a sliver is more than enough. My boyfriend’s salmon in Teriyaki was cooked to perfection however the Teriayaki glaze was very generous. Less is more in this case. However as teriyaki sauces go, it was sweet in proportion to the salty. My nigri was very good, the Toro was just the right amount of light oily fishy taste one dreams of. Despite our server’s impatience with us and forgetting my boyfriend’s roll which we didn’t mind because he was full, we had a wonderful time. All in all we came for the food so every dish was good.
Occasion: Birthday Dinner on a weeknight Service: Excellent- we were sat at a table next to the sushi bar. Our server gave a great explanation of the menu and crowd favorites Food: Great! While it was not the best fish we’ve ever eaten, the freshness was slightly better than other sushi restaurants in the area. The menu clearly indicates imported fish, and it was great to try fish we don’t typically eat. Our favorite was the tuna tartar appetizer, for the combination of flavors. Portions are on the smaller side, so I would advise saving this for more special occasions if you’re used to putting away large amounts of food. Would come back again
Normally I wouldn’t visit such a luxurious restaurant, however, I just finished finals for the semester and wanted to try something new! The food was alright. It was good but left me dissatisfied. The atmosphere was as you would expect from a higher-end restaurant. So things are pretty average here, but what really made my whole night was Hannah! She was super sweet and such a joy to chat with! I would definitely come here again just to chat with her!
A bit uninspired and the fish didn’t really shine. We enjoyed our miso soup and the bite of eel. Disappointed with the quality for the price point.
We like to come to Atlanta and try new restaurants so we were excited to try another Michelin recommended restaurant. It was lackluster in our opinion. We may have ordered the wrong things, but I would expect everything to be done well for the price, even if it did not have a Michelin star. Shishito peppers are something we love to order at Asian restaurants, we don’t expect anything over the top about them, but these were barely cooked (still very crunchy and raw) and no sauce to accompany. The lobster roll my husband ordered was fresh but very bland and the lobster was a bit oversteamed. We have loved the lobster preparations at Umi just down the road as a comparison. My chef specialty roll was fresh but something I could have gotten at any mid-sushi restaurant. One piece of my nigiri was an exceptional cut and the other had a thick stringy part that made in difficult to bite and chew.
Tomo has sold its sole to the devil. If you're going to be extraordinarily expensive, then you need to cut fish properly and serve an appropriate portion. Too many of the sashimi cuts were performed as if they were chopping a piece of liver. Yes, that iliminates waste, but its incorrect. Plus, I understand the trend is for sexy and imaginative sushi, but my goodness have some traditional offerings..... especially if you have Japanese trained suchi masters behind the counter, which I am assuming that's what I saw. Too expensive for what is served in a very noisy atmosphere.
UPDATE in April: I still cannot look at or eat sushi. The restaurant remains quiet on the debacle. We ordered dinner delivery on NYE on the earlier side. We wanted to treat ourselves to the "best sushi in town." Well, what we got was $100 of inedible, disgusting, and hazardous non- "sushi": hack job on the salmon and the yellowtail (did they have the dishwasher butcher sashimi-quality fish? because I have not seen this cut before at even gas station sushi selection); scale and bone found in salmon avocado roll (almost accidentally swallowed: again, who cleaned and butchered this fish at a top sushi restaurant)? Yellowtail cuts had connecting tissue on that. You can see photos. We were so disgusted by this that we could not touch the rest of our order, and we won't be able to enjoy sushi for a long time because of this unsavory experience. It used to be one of our favorite dishes, and this place ruined it for us. Door Dash immediately refunded our money on account of "food preparation issues," but we also informed the restaurant and were told to expect a call from the manager/chef. We have not received a call or an apology. I am not sure how this got through; I just wanted to make the restaurant aware of this. Very disappointing.
Very low quality place. 2 pcs of Uni were $26, but total quality was almost equal with to-go place. Service was horrible as well. At the time I ordered I asked to serve hot sake with Appetizer. But they served hot sake very first, appetizer second, Uni sushi third, and then finally gave us salad and soup very late… When she served our Uni, our uni was tumble down. And suddenly she picked up my spoon and tried to stand it up… what a glorious moment…
