Crawfish & Shrimp Etouffee and Diablo Shrimp was fantastic! Service was great! Will return next time in town.
Lovely place, great food, great service. The owner is super sweet as well. Will be back soon!
EXCELLENT service, foods and drinks! It’s been a while since we visited and Freda’s did not disappoint! They served our large dinner party with accuracy, friendliness and so much more. Thank you. We will be back!!!
It’s basically a tradition for me to visit Freda’s once a year, for my birthday! Every time has never disappointed. Love the decor and low lighting. I’ve only ever ordered the rib-eye here because that’s how good it is! Always juicy, tender and the perfect temp. I also always get the crawfish mac and cheese, shrimp Diablo and Godiva chocolate martini. I’ve tried the crab stuffed salmon from a my partner’s plate and that was also yummy. I keep coming back for a reason—Consistent quality and delicious food and friendly staff. There’s also been live music when I visited on the weekend. Love this place!
We had our first experience with Freda's in July 2025. All four of us agreed our food was wonderful. No complaints at all. Service was attentive and polite. Gentle live music was a nice bonus. Upscale feel with mid-level prices. Highly recommended.
Traveling this week on business. This restaurant was next-door to my Homewood Suites in Austin. I had the salmon and stuffed with crab and it was absolutely delicious. Extremely fresh piece of fish. The crab was wonderful and the sauce was very nice. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I’m sure I will be back again during my stay.
We had a bacon cheeseburger, steak, bourbon street pasta and pecan crusted tilapia. Also fried pickles and of course the cornbread. It was all delicious but I throughly enjoyed the pasta and it wasn't even the dish I ordered! 🤣 We also enjoyed the mint lemonade! Our waiter, King, was exceptional and kept our drinks full.
A nice restaurant to take a date or a friend for some delicious seafood. The menu has several options to satisfy your pallet. Freda's is clean and organized. The hostess and servers were professional and friendly. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as around the bar. It even has seating for small groups. There is plenty of parking too. If you like seafood, then book a reservation and try Freda's. I enjoyed my experience, and I believe you will, too!
We had an amazing time with friends at the wine pairing dinner this week. The ambiance is great and the bar service while waiting for the dinner to begin was awesome. The host and staff did a great job personally greeting everyone who attended and learned names in short order. While it was apparent many had done this event before they treated new comers like family as well. The wine descriptions and winery history were informative and interesting. The wines were absolutely phenomenal. The entire meal was absolutely incredible. There was a seafood or steak option and on this evening we did the steaks which were delicious and perfectly done. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizers were so good I almost wanted to drive back to Austin tonight for more. We will be back for a regular dinner setting but also plan on attending another wine pairing dinner event in the future. Do yourself a favor and plan an evening at Freda’s it’s a 10!
We had to wait for extra 10 min on top of our booking time, maybe it was New Year Eve and they are short of staff. However, the front desk and our waiter were very nice. Food was amazing. It is hard to choose but our favorites were the prime rib, filet mignon, and homemade cheesecake. Everything else were also great too, they are serious about their food. We are bring our family back for sure!
Possibly the best dine in restaurant in Austin. The atmosphere was well lit and intimate. The food was phenomenal. They start you off with sweet cornbread. It was great, especially with the butter they provide. I tried the Trout Alexander. Everything was cooked to perfection and came out in a timely manner. My server Rob was amazing. I will definitely be back.
Family. Freda treats you like family. Food is amazing and their wine night is a staple. Definitely a must go for a date or drinks.
I feel like OMG should summarize the review, but I am going to actually tell you more about it. To begin Jack ( waiter) was just great. So customer service always matters, in my opinion. Second, the food was just irresistible. It was our first time here and I am definitely coming back. I am NOT a fan of tilapia, but I want to say this was the best tilapia EVER or maybe of the year. Service was great. Maruja( I hope I spelled her name correctly), receives you with a smile and she told us the “ secret” about keeping up with the orchids I actually went to the kitchen and personally thanked the chef. Great job Frieda’s. It was our first time and definitely coming back. Hubby ordered a brisket sandwich and I order the pecan tilapia. I recommend it 100%. That salad was the BOMB!!
ADA wheelchair compliant. Dog friendly patio that was so pretty. The pine nut trout over wild mushroom risotto was out of this world. Great bar....great and knowledgeable staff. Moderate pricing for everything you get. A mom and daughter run restaurant and bar...and precovid live music on the weekends. Have I mentioned I love this place? Coming back here with friends. Pics included.
Talk about fast and friendly service! Got in a few minutes before the end of the lunch menu but they honored it! The half and half (that's am entree!) was delicious! Definitely worth trying! (These might have been the best french fries I have had in a while). Lobster and shrimp bisque was delish. So many dessert choices too! Definitely stop by and enjoy!
Had dinner at Freda’s Seafood Grille and was thoroughly impressed — their Crab Stuffed Salmon was tender and flavorful, and the Gulf Coast Paella (loaded with shrimp, mussels, andouille, calamari) was vibrant and filling. The Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée and Seared Sea Scallops also stood out — rich, well seasoned, and cooked just right. The ambiance strikes a great balance — upscale but relaxed — and the staff were attentive and friendly. Plus, their wine list and live-music nights add a nice touch for a longer night out. Looking forward to trying dessert (their White Chocolate Bread Pudding sounds killer).
It had been way too long since I visited, an error I won't make again. This is a "new" weekly ritual.... awesome food, amazing drinks and a staff that is the best in the business as far as I am concerned. Thank you to the entire staff, owner and kitchen for being 5 star.
A serendipitous find. In town for only one day and this treasure appeared on a Google search for "restaurants near me". Everything about our experience exceeded expectations. My son is a picky eater and the chef was kind enough to go off the menu and make a dish my son actually loved. I ordered the seafood paella. There was seafood in every bite, and I ate the whole thing.... So good! A must when in the area!!!
My wife and I went to Freda’s for her birthday one early evening on a Saturday. From the time that we entered and were greeted cheerfully at the door by the two ladies at the front desk, I knew that I made the right choice of restaurant for her birthday dinner 😏. Our waitress was very attentive! 5 star service. My wife got the crab stuffed salmon meal, which she enjoyed (and I also stamped based off my couple bites). I got the gulf coast paella meal. As a man who grew up eating New Orleans food cooked by my native grandmother, aunts, and uncles, I would say it’s very true and authentic to its roots, with just enough spice on it, but not overpowering or uncomfortable. Compliments to the chef 👌🏾. The atmosphere was very quiet but inviting, and there was a live piano player adding to the ambiance. I imagine that this spot probably gets more bustling later on in the evening, but for my wife and I, we arrived at the right time to just sit down and enjoy a nice dinner together. We will be back again! And I recommend you go too.
Went today to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary and food was delicious, I order the Trout and hubby the paella from the gluten free menu. As a business owner we recognize that great service is what keeps repeat customers, thank you Jarrett for doing an excellent job, he was super sweet, quick, friendly, professional . Gosh.. I miss good customer service. We sure enjoyed our dessert. 😍
I loved the people at Freda’s. Not only the staff, but the people gathered around the bar. I may never be in that part of the country again. But if YOU are, I say you ignore any review lower than 4 stars (some of the reviews I could immediately see were ridiculous when I was checking the place out) and go there. It’s the only great place close to the several hotels in that area. The food was excellent. The happy hour menu is so good that is was all I ate. The White Wine Butter Mussels were blessed with a creamier sauce than I’ve had before and it was perfectly balanced. The mussels were perfectly in season, even in a month with no “R”. The crab cake you should not miss. The presentation is simple and unique (like a small, thin hockey puck), and the flavor will be better than most you have ever had. The Seafood Gumbo was so good that it inspired me to pull out my own gumbo recipe after I got home and make it for the first time in more than five years. I will drive an hour or more to go back to Freda’s if I am ever in the area again.
We loved our experience at Freda's! We went for a very early dinner (so we could bring our newborn) to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the start, they wished him a happy birthday, were so friendly asking about our baby girl, and did an excellent job telling us about the menu. Freda herself even came by the table to say hello - our waitress told us Freda comes in every single day. Our food was also incredible. We had the shrimp Diablo appetizer with their housemade cornbread, and I ordered the sea scallops while my husband ordered the NY strip and shrimp. We are already talking about when to go back!
I have a friend who has a gift of finding new gems for us to dine. She really scored on Freda's. We made reservations. You can select inside or outside seating. Due to the 3 digit temperature in TX right now, we chose to sit inside. We've vowed to return when it's cooler to sit outside. The menu is one that everything sounds delicious and to choose was difficult. Our waitress, Nicole, was phenomenal. The food was delicious. Freda's is a gem.
Wow! Fredas Seafood Bar and Grill truly blew me away with their wine and food pairing experience! 🍷The flavors were impeccable, and the ambiance was delightful. Shoutout to Nicole, our outstanding server, who made the night even more enjoyable. Kudos to the entire team for a memorable dining experience! Can't wait to go back for more delicious moments. Highly recommend! 😍👏
This review is a long time coming. Our first time visiting Austin, we had an unforgettable dining experience at this seafood restaurant! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The crab cakes were amazing—each bite had tender pieces of crab, showcasing Fedra’s dedication to quality ingredients. Our server was great, super friendly and attentive. We were already satisfied with the delicious meal, but the desserts were a delightful bonus. They were beautiful and indulgently rich and creamy. The crème brûlée had a perfectly caramelized top and a velvety smooth custard beneath. This restaurant is a gem!
We had a wonderful pre-Valentine’s Dinner at Freda’s seafood. We were opting for healthier foods to fill our gills. Plenty of nice wine choices. The Shrimp Diablo, was a favorite, bacon cooked to perfection, and wasn’t spicy. The crab stuffed salmon and crab legs were tasty and not over cooked. Everything is worth coming back for. Dani, our waiter was amazing! I am part camel, my water glass was never neglected. She gave great food recommendations and even offered to take a picture for us. We truly appreciate the quality of service Dani provided. It was a busy night, reservations are always helpful. We have visited in the past, there is a pianist that plays on certain nights.
This place is amazing the food and the atmosphere was so great. Our waiter Paul was on point. His service was Great. Me and wife dined in to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was perfect man the blackened reds snapper was perfect. Man just a clean place with good food. Derrick.R
Ate here tonight for my first time and all I can say is get here fast if you want good seafood in Central Texas. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff super friendly and helpful, my waiter Rob was always around with a drink refill, awesome suggestions on food and just all around nice guy. I had the shrimp diablos appetizer- Best I have ever had, not sure if it was the shrimp or the remoulade sauce either way best ever. I had the Bourbon Street Pasta for dinner and it was great. It had the perfect amount of spice, lots of crawfish and shrimp. I will definitely return next time I am in town.
Freda's is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is delicious and the service is always great! I reserved their private room for a small dinner after my wedding. It was easy to book and the dinner went perfectly.
Our family of 3 had a phenomenal experience at Freda's on Christmas Eve. Every single item we ordered was superb and exceeded expectations. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked and had the precise amount of smokey flavor to enhance but not overwhelm it. The filet was one of the best my son has ever had, and he's picky. My snapper dish was perfectly prepared as well. The appetizers were both amazing. We even had the chef come out and discuss the Prime Rib's temperature to set expectations, which he then proceeded to exceed! Our server was wonderful as well. We highly recommend Freda's for special occasions.
We've driven by a 100 times and we've read about this place for many years. We'll, tonight we tried it out. I decided to eat fish and should have gone with the prime rib. It all looked amazing and was yummy. It was a bit costly for our budget. The owner did say hello to everyone, but missed our table. She must have seen the frown on my face when I got the bill. If we go back, I'll try the steak. The shrimp was excellent. Atmosphere is romantic.
First visit to this restaurant today for lunch, decided to order the Rock Lobster (which is on the dinner menu). My meal was excellent, absolutely no complaints here. My waitress asked how everything was, I responded, “I’m in Heaven”. Customer service was excellent. Will definitely be back and will tell my friends and family. You must go if you desire excellence when you dine out. Also they have the tastiest mojito you will ever have the privilege to enjoy.
For starters we got the calamari and the shrimp diablo. Calamari tasted fresh and the prawns were quite large and cooked well. For entrees we got the ribeye and crab stuffed salmon. Both were delicious, my salmon was perfectly cooked and moist. My husband's salmon was bit cooked over medium rare, but it was fine because it was juicy and flavorful. For dessert we were recommended the bread pudding with ice cream, which was so delicious and decadent without being heavy. We walked away full and very satisfied. Our server was so nice, going into detail about the menu and was able to do our service quickly as we were going to a movie. We will definitely be back.
Took my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day & it was an incredible experience. Only had to wait 7 minutes for a seat. & they put us at the perfect table. We started off with a couple cocktails & calamari. You can tell this calamari is cut and breaded in house. Then for our main course I had the fillet & she had the salmon with a side of mushroom risotto. For dessert we had crème Brûlée & a couple espresso martinis. Everything was perfect & I couldn’t thank Sara enough & everyone that helped make our dining experience one to remember.
Freda's is the gift that keeps on giving. I have gone there for years for many different occasions and it's truly a beautiful well run and wonderful place for all your Seafood favorites. So glad they are still here. I had a Chocolate Mexican Martini made especially for me and loved it. The food goes without saying. I have to stay away because I feel like I can gain 5 lbs a visit!
Frieda's is amazing. The seafood and steak are always top notch. They, also, have wine dinners with perfectly crafted menus. I had the bacon wrapped scallops - delicious with a rich and flavorful mushroom sauce. My husband had the orange roughy which, again, was delicious. We split the fried pickles and spinach artichoke appetizers with friends - very good. And, also, they serve fresh cornbread which is delicious. Their drinks are well crafted.
First time here and had a great time. Our server, Brandon was very helpful with the menu and wine selection. The cornbread has a little kick to it, but not so spicy. Oysters Rockefeller are yummy and have lots of parmesan cheese. The salmon and scallops were perfect. Great atmosphere, good music playing but not so loud that you cant hear your companions.
Fred's became my #1 favorite restaurant since I moved to Austin. Food is fresh and delicious. Cool atmosphere, very diverse. Services amazing!!! I already recommend to anyone that ask where to eat.
My first visit to Freda’s Seafood as I was celebrating my Birthday. Our service was great from the way we were greeted to our Server, Audrey. The atmosphere was fire: The lighting, the live music, and the overall setting. Our food was delicious and they did not charge for a cutting fee for my cake. Plus I met Ms. Freda, the Owner, who is a real class act!! So, treat yourself and dine at Freda’s.
I just came here for the first time today. I kept seeing the Big Advertisement on 183 promotion for their Sunday brunch Buffett. The seafood restaurant offered many fresh grilled and fried fish selections and made to order Omelettes, French toast, carved meats!!! I didn't try the Snow crab this visit, next time for sure!! The hostess was very friendly and helpful!!! Wait staff excellent service
From the moment you walk in, this restaurant delivers an exceptional experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Perfect for a relaxed dinner or a special occasion. The food is absolutely outstanding. What sets this place apart also is the service. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made us feel valued throughout our visit. If you’re looking for great food, a wonderful atmosphere, and incredible service, this restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommended.
We visited Freda's Seafood and Steak yesterday because my dad, who’s visiting from England, was craving seafood with a local twist, and Freda’s did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious. The Southern Fried Pickles were light, crunchy, and airy. The Shrimp and Crawfish Fondue (pictured) was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, served alongside light and fluffy garlic bread. The Crab Stuffed Salmon (pictured) was cooked to perfection, and the brussels were wonderfully decadent with just a hint of sweet spice. Everyone we interacted with was warm, helpful, and genuinely happy to be there, creating a truly welcoming atmosphere. We never felt rushed and were able to savor every bite. And the corn bread (pictured)… simply the most delectable we’ve had in a long time. There was plenty of food, even enough to satisfy my teenage son! Highly recommend Freda’s for anyone looking for incredible food and a great dining experience.
Our server, Erin, did a marvelous job informing us about the various entrees and keeping our glasses full. The food was incredibly flavor filled. Great seafood gumbo, the fondue appetizer itself was worth the trip. I had the paella and it was spiced to perfection. My wife had a swordfish special that was very tasty as well. We topped off the evening with bread pudding with ice cream. We took enough home for each of us to have another meal the next day. Definitely would recommend Freda's. Looking forward to taking our daughters and son in law here when they are in town next. Someone taught the help the value of customer service. Great experience.
I had such a great experience dining with you. The food was wonderful. We had Sasha as our server. She was so pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. We chose Orange Roughy with the Crab Oscar addition. She was spot on with that recomendation. We will definatelybe dining here in the future!
I recently dined at Freda's, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish we ordered was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The ambiance of the place is another highlight. It's beautifully designed, making it an inviting spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Overall, if you're looking for a great dining experience, Freda's should be at the top of your list!
Jack was our server on my mom’s birthday and my first time here. Im not a big fan of fish but wow!! Thanks to Jack’s recommendations - I will be CRAVING the red snapper and orange roughy. It was quite literally the best fish Ive ever had. Thank you Jack for your great service and advice! You made my mom’s birthday! We also highly highly recommend the oysters rockerfeller, cucumber martini, and the cornbread…mmmm chefs kiss! Mwuah!!
Y'all are missing out. Fredas is very good. It's pretty much a seafood and steak place but on Sunday. They have an excellent brunch with made to order eggs, including omelettes and made to order french toast along with many different seafood and breakfast types of items. Overall was very good. The servers were very attentive. Everybody was super friendly and seemed to be happy to be there..
The atmosphere is upbeat & happy if you're sitting at the bar with Quincey. She's the smart bartender/waitress. The crab legs here really hit the spot. They are quality. You get what you pay for. The restaurant has a cute outdoor area. The vibe is a little old school, but that's okay. Try taking your TIME at their happy hour & ordering some of their GREAT FOOD!!!
Freda’s Seafood in Austin is a total gem — especially if you’re looking for a high-quality lunch spot with great value. Their lunch specials are generous and delicious, making it easy to enjoy fresh seafood without breaking the bank. The clams were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared — a real standout for seafood lovers. The drinks and beer selection were equally impressive, with refreshing cocktails and a solid variety of local brews to choose from. If you’re heading there, do yourself a favor and order the paella — rich, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood. It’s easily one of the best in town.
We went here on a Friday Evening for dinner. I called at 6pm and was able to make a reservation for 7pm. We arrived a little early and expected to wait in the bar area but they seated us right away. Our server was very attentive. Brought us our drinks and took our starter order quickly. We got the spinach artichoke dip and my husband ordered the gumbo. The dip was good and the chips were freshly fried tortilla chips. My husband said the gumbo was ok. He gets this everywhere we go and compares them all. We ordered our dinners; I got the pecan crusted tilapia which was amazing! Not fishy tasting at all. The green pesto creme on top was flavorful. I took half of my fish home for leftovers but didn’t eat it until Monday, still tasted amazing! My husband ordered the fried seafood platter. He was not a fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms but I liked them. The matchstick fries were crispy just like he likes them! Our total bill was over $100 but with that we got drinks, starters and dinner with some leftovers for another day. Totally worth it in my book! We hadn’t been here in several years and I have to say it’s still a wonderful experience! Oh, and they had someone playing a piano and/or bass singing in the bar area. Which was a nice add to our dinner. Great place for a romantic evening with your loved one!
Traveled to Austin for work and stayed outside downtown area due to excessive hotel rates. Courtyard Hotel is off the beaten track with minimal food options. Pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a family owned restaurant about a 6 minute walk. Ate at the bar with very attentive server. Had the cornbread, tomato basil soup, and orange roughy with shrimp, mushroom risotto, and asparagus. Enjoyed every bite! Would definitely come back if I stay out this way again.
I would like to extend my gratitude to my friend for inviting me to Freda’s Sunday Brunch. A well-organized brunch buffet is always a pleasure, and Freda’s exceeds expectations. The buffet offers a wide variety of choices, including fresh salmon, tilapia, peel and eat shrimp, Cajun pasta, gumbo, delicious brisket, and freshly prepared eggs and omelets. Additionally, a salad bar and dessert options are available for those who still have room. The mimosas were exceptionally large and generously filled with champagne. The crowd was small, which I appreciated, and I highly recommend Freda’s for Sunday brunch. The service was great, as the staff were all friendly.

As always great food nice atmosphere and excellent service. Consistently great experiences and value.
I frequent this restaurant when at Austin and prefer to sit at bar area. Its great when piano player is present, which I believe is on Friday evenings. Food is prepared well and wines are good.
We ordered the red snapper with etouffe and Cajun rice, and the NY Strip steak Oscar style. My favorite part of the snapper dish was actually the etouffe on top. The steak had great grill flavor. The asparagus in the Oscar sauce were cooked perfectly, with great nutty flavor. The vibe inside is low-lighting and leather. Good for dates or small groups. The bar area is separate and more casual.
Made a reservation. Promptly seated and our server was Chance. My Amaretto sour was perfect. The cornbread is always on point. Sooo good. Appetizer was Shrimp Diablo- yes please..Delicious. I had the special which was the red snapper and Oscar crab on top on a bed of my substitute(mushroom risotto). Absolutely delicious! My friend had the Fried Seafood Platter, sadly he wasn't too impressed by it..Wanna thank Chance for taking good care of us.
Great service, good food, a bit more is needed to take the food to the next level, that said, definitely worth visiting. We had the fresh oysters, gumbo, bisque, seabass and my favorite Paella sans Yardbird (more to come) First and foremost everything tasted and appeared well prepared. Even the items which, to me were a bit weak. All had the the necessary ingredients, just needed seasoning adjustments or more time on the fire for flavor maturation. So, the Paella has chicken in it...why, not sure, but chickens do reproduce quickly (which contributes to their tastelessness). I completely missed this on the menu, as I would prefer baked mud pie to the bird...! Nonetheless, the Staff graciously offered to make me bird free Paella, Kudos! Taste, the freaking rice is Fire, will definitely return!
This was our first time visiting. The food was really good (Except for the portion is on the smaller side). But our waiter seemed like he was in a hurry, he took my husband’s plate while he was still eating his fries, and brought the check directly instead of asking if we wanted dessert. Other than that everything was great, will come back again.
Just moved in this area recently and heard a lot of great things about Freda’s. Believe everything you hear because this place was pretty great. After we were seated we had a waiter that just made the experience amazing. He was very attentive, made great suggestions and was really entertaining on every conversation we had. For appetizers we had the Caesar salad and crab and lobster bisque. The salad was great, and the bisque was OK. Wasn’t really a fan of the little bits of shrimp in the bisque as it didn’t go quite well with the lobster. Main course was incredible. The ribeye was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Sautéed spinach on the said was perfect and the paella was delicious. Loved the corn bread they gave us as well. As for desert the bread pudding... wow I think it was the best bread pudding I’ve had in awhile. Will totally be back here to try everything else on the menu!
The food and service are fantastic. We stopped by during our weekend visit to Austin. No reservations but got seated immediately. A little disappointed in the portion of the calamari order. The crab cake portion was generous but not great. The corn bread is probably the best in town though. Overall a great experience would definitely come back and recommend to friends.
I've been wanting to try Freda's Seafood Restaurant for sometime. I will probably revisit. Their cornbread is sweet and probably can pass as a dessert. But really good with their butter. For an appetizer, we enjoyed their Cabernet Sauvignon marinated crab stuffed mushrooms. We opted not to have a salad, something I will have next time. We also ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for the evening. For dinner my wife ordered their Red Snapper Crab Oscar with Mushroom Risotto, blue lump crab Oscar style. I managed to steal a couple of bites. Wonderful flavor. I also ordered Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops with Mushroom butter, fried onion crisp, red potatoes. I was disappointed in the sea scallops. I don't know if they were frozen or if they didn't cook them long enough. The texture was a little mushy. We still ate them, but not what I was expecting. At the end of the meal, we were full and satisfied. We will return to try the lobster and other dishes.
The service her was Amazing. Our bartender, Dani, was a real gem!! She was attentive and welcoming. She made great suggestions and created a remarkable experience for us. The cornbread was so tasty and the tomato basil soup with crab was out of this world. I liked my dish but I was most pleased with the crawfish mac and cheese. This place was awesome and we really enjoyed it.
We really love this place. The food is always fresh and delicious and the decor and atmosphere are very pleasant. We love the calamari and sauces and they have the one of the best crab cakes in town. The service inside has always been excellent. Sometimes when busy the service outside is not as prompt. They have by far the best fried catfish in Austin. It has a non cornmeal crispy batter and never tastes fishy. It's a little pricey but well worth it.
My wife and I had date night. The meal was great! Here are a few pictures. I wish I had done this review a month ago. But I will tell you this. We found out they have a brunch service on Sundays! This is awesome! We will be back. Our meal, the service, the drinks, our deserts, the ambience, our night was special! We had a lot of fun. This was a new place for us. We will go again!
The main course was great, It just didnt quite hit that "wow" level for me to justify some of the prices. The grilled French bread and crayfish fondue and complimentary corn bread were perfect. Service and atmosphere were on point! Bar dealt a heavy handed old fashion, I appreciate that! Cheers!
Service was great (Brandon). Food is great I just wish they had brunch on Saturdays. Drink cocktails were very good. We were in a private dining room with at least seating for 20 people available and a large TV screen.
The crab cake was delicious, same with the complementary corn bread. The entrees were good, maybe missing a bit of an edge. However, we felt like our waitress was disappointed by how little we were ordering…. And we felt she was pushing us to order another drink, and another app… she could of just been having an off day but it was the last meal of our vacation and kind of hampered on us a bit
I took my husband here for his birthday and it was nice. Very dim lighted, however and definitely more of a fancy romantic vibe going on. The food was a little pricey for our taste. I got the shrimp scampi, which was very different flavored than I’ve ever had before but surprisingly good. My husband got the lobster and he didn’t complain which means it was probably really really good because he never compliments any food and when I asked him if he liked it, he actually said YES and not “it was all right”. Of course the husband likes to have beer with his meal and it wasn’t overpriced when I thought it probably would’ve been for as fancy of a little place as it seemed to be. That was so that was nice to not have to pay an outrageous amount for a beer. I’m sure in the future will probably go back sometime to take family or friends if they come to visit, but not as to stay frequent place to eat only because of the pricing.
I had a wonderful experience at this seafood restaurant. My drink was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced and refreshing. The appetizers were tasty and well-prepared, and the main course did not disappoint either. Everything was cooked just right and full of flavor. On top of that, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This place is no longer a great place to eat and drink. High-priced drinks (16.95 Grey goose martini filled half full) and small portion meals with high price.

Ordered a New York strip with shrimp and a baked potato. The plate looked great until I cut into the steak, which I ordered med-rare, but it was medium. Sent it back, 6 min later another steak arri…
We love going to Freda’s for lunch. The blackened catfish is excellent. We’ve also enjoyed the trout with shrimp, paella.... all delicious. We tried the raw oysters and crab stuffed mushrooms t…
My wife and I decided to stop in to check out Freda’s while we were in Austin for the weekend. It was quite busy and luckily, we had a reservation. Lovely ambiance inside the restaurant as we made our way to our table. When we received the menu, we were disappointed with how sparse the options were compared to what we had seen on google. We got a crab cake to start and my wife had decided on seafood gumbo. I decided on the seafood paella. The crab cake and gumbo were wonderful. My paella, however, was so salty, it’s as if someone spilled an entire bottle of salt during preparation of the dish. I was terribly disappointed and was left wishing we had gone elsewhere. Don’t make the same mistake I did and make sure you call and ensure the dishes you intend to try are on the menu.
We went for lunch, 4 people. We had two appetizers, the spinach dip had no flavors. We ordered 3 catfish lunches and it was terrible thick breading, weird square pieces and it didn’t look or taste like catfish, it all was mushy. I have been going for over 20 yrs And I was shocked. Nothing seemed fresh just frozen. Its a shame I always love going there but not now
One reviewer hit it on the head "Nothing special---Red Lobster food at Eddie V's prices." My wife and I no longer feel safe going downtown to dine, and were looking for a good seafood restaurant th…
Service was fine but food was lacking for the price point. A $50 steak ruined from being overcooked despite being requested medium and lacked flavor. The fish dishes were fine if your there for that.
Unfortunately, this was our first time and it will be our last. The filet was full of fat and gristle. And the seafood platter was overly breaded and greasy. The drinks were good as well as the service. And the corn bread was excellent, a unique flavor with corn and red pepper. I am sorry it wasn't better, as we were hoping it to be a favorite place to which we would reeturn.
If you're going for the food .you will be dussapointed .the atmosphere is nice tge staff was nice the food was so bad .I had the seafood platter I think the problem was tge bland catfish .the cornbread was the best thing out of my meal even the gumbo was off I will not be back
In regard to the manager's reply....1st of all, the picture shown isn't the picture of the man I'd spoken with. Secondly, you didn't refund me money. What you did do was give me a refund of $20 on …
*Edit in response to the owner* This is exactly the unprofessional behavior that I am calling attention too. If any of your staff was attacked why did you not intervene or have any conversation with the party? If you had a person who was too drunk why did you continue to serve them? Posting lies on your official page is appalling and reinforces why I will never again be a patron on your establishment. This sort of behavior is unbecoming and the public has the right to be aware. You gladly took all of my parties orders, you decided passive aggression was the best way to deal with us and you certainly wanted us to continue to spend as much money as possible before we left. Stop lying to save face and admit to your faults. I removed my previous review because you decided to attack my family personally in your response instead of being professional. Management and staff have an unprofessional, passive-aggressive way of handling common issues and will lie. Food is lacking especially for the price. Atmosphere is tacky and the service is the worst of all.
I was so disappointed with the Sunday brunch. Several years ago this brunch offered unique dishes that were delicious. Unfortunately, now they offer items clearly purchased in the frozen food section of Costco or Sam's club. Many items were bland and lacked effort to make it more appealing. I hate leaving a bad review, but this brunch was pretty awful.
The food was good. I was at your restaurant in Lakeline on Saturday for Valentines Day. The waitress that served my Girlfriend and I was named Quincy. My total was 163.81. I balanced it out with a tip to total 200$. Instead I was charged a total of 363.81. This needs to be corrected immediately. I have sent an email and have contacted you but there is no voicemail. Mind you, although I tipped her 36.19$, I wanted to withdraw it after I handed her the receipt and she leaned over to my guest and said Good Luck.
