The food was sooo good! Even though I received syrup, I did not need it. The waffle had so much flavor. The chicken was seasoned to perfection!! Service was quick so no waiting. Definitely go by if you in the area.

I am in town for the weekend with my family and decided to try this restaurant after a disappointing experience at a nearby competitor. I'm so glad we did! The customer service was outstanding, and the food was even better. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, hot, and fresh. The side dishes were equally impressive, and the chicken was amazing—it’s so good you don’t need anything with it! I’ll definitely return whenever I’m in town and will happily recommend this place to my friends and family.

What a find! I've been to Austin a few times, and I was fortunate enough to stumble across this location in my endless search for good eats here in Texas. Boy did thet deliver on the soul. The oxtails were excellent, and the pudding for dessert is one of the best in the area, which is why they earn my coveted "Certified Mad Good" rating. Well done.

Got take out at this place, and the food was freshly prepared and out in 20 min. After driving back home for about 20 min, the fried fish and chicken are still crispy! The fish is on the salty side, but the dry rub is so flavorful! Same are the chicken wings. The slight acidity in the seasoning perfectly balances out the heavy flavor of deep-fried food. The fried gizzards are pretty good! Super crispy and chewy on the inside. I've not had gizzards cooked this way, but it's super fun and tasty. The waffle is also very delicious. I personally like my waffle crispy. Although this waffle is very soft in the texture, the little sweet crumbs (with a cheese taste) on the surface make it pretty unique. I like this place a lot! Definitely will be back to try more stuff on the menu!

My mom and I went today for the first time. And I am so happy we tried it out. Everything we tried was so delicious. the chicken tenders did not have heavy breading which was so nice and the Mac and cheese was delicious and had great flavor. We had the peach cobble after and my my my did we enjoy it. We will definitely be back.

Waiting for my daughter to come back into town and still had some time and I was hungry so I drove around in her area. There it was, I always heard of this place and was excited because I have always wanted to try it out. The place is a total vibe the minute you walk in. The food was good but that pork chop from that sampler OMG! It was deliciously juicy and flavored so well that the hot sauce that I poured on it was like the cherry on top! Service was a bit slow and could use more smiles but it was fair.

I didn't expect to receive my appetizer of jerk Lamb chops with no plates or utensils. I could have made it work, but there were no napkins. While waiting for the server to come back, it started getting cold. The Obama flight was tastey like kool-aid. Probably difficult to add much alcohol and keep the flavor balanced. Loved the gravy smothered oxtail over rice.

Soul food restaurant with extensive menu of combo options including chicken, fish, waffles, sides, and oxtail. They have a longbar as well, including specials. There are many tables, booths, and bar seats. I loved the 90s hip hop and rnb. The chicken tender option I got with the waffles were hearty enough the little plastic fork and knife had trouble cutting them. The hot sauce and syrup gave things the extra sweetness and spice they needed. They have a huge free parking lot shared with other businesses in the same strip.

First time here and overall it was quite decent with a few things I didn't care for. The wings were absolutely amazing! Next time I'll get more wings. I was actually disappointed in myself for only getting one. The rice and gravy. The gravy wAs fine but the rice had a weird taste to it, almost sour like. At first I thought it was the gravy, so I tried them separately and it was definitely the rice. The collard greens were good, but was expecting some of that smoked meat flavoring to it. There was none or if there was, wasn't remarkable. Mac and cheese...also wasn't that great, but still decent I guess. A bit dry and that sour taste was back. Yams were good. Pretty sure they were canned that was doctored up. Fish was actually good and well seasoned, and I'm not really a fish person, so the fact that I liked them said a lot. Pork chop, I had high hopes for this. I think the seasoning wasn't the best, and maybe a bit too salty, but still ok. Overall I would definitely order the greens, and chicken and fish and yams again.

The Rolling Rooster has good fried shrimp. The mac and cheese was to really good and I would recommend as a must try. The service was great. Unfortunately the table that we were going to be sat at was dirty and the host cleaned it for us by wiping it down. He did forget to dry it, but grateful it was cleaned. (I dried it myself with napkins). The waitress was friendly and helpful. They offer Happy Hour but I did not try any alcoholic beverages this time. The tables seem like they need an overhaul, a tad too tall and wobbly from wear and tear. But overall would definitely say give this place a try and of course order the mac and cheese!

This place was really well put together and had a great chill vibe when we arrived. Our server was nice and polite and took care of us and our unique needs. The food was cool to order which took a bit, but I don't mind waiting for hot food. And the plates were well put together and offered a good amount for the price. We ordered fish and wings, Mac and cheese, okra, rice and gravy along with some fried pickles. The pickles would slip out of the batter, but had a good flavor. Mac had a good flavor to it as well, with heavy pepper (for those picky eaters to beware!) rice and gravy had a amazing taste and was cooked to perfect. Chicken had a excellent crunch and flavor and size. Fish was very thinly sliced, could've had a tad more crunch to it in my opinion, but the flavor was good. Tarter sauce was good as well. Each plate was offered one slice of warm bread to go with the meal. Their cool aid is what you should order! It was chef's kiss to perfection! Food was about $25-$20 with a high priced drinks of over $3! We spent about $80 for our meal of 3.

The tenders, fries and chicken wings tasted like it was cooked it old grease and had a slightly burnt appearance. The chicken lacked flavor, likely due to the old grease they fried it in. However, they were crispy. The condiments might’ve helped but everything was off brand (ketchup & ranch). The macaroni…I feel like it was stove top and not oven baked. It tasted very bland and was barely sprinkled/cooked with any cheese. The yams were super mushy and sweet…not sure if they were canned or fresh. I also had shrimp that the menu said was large but they were extremely small. Overall, the food was not worth the price. BUT on high note, the customer service was great. I think $40 for 2 oxtails and a small side of rice is over charge.. you can get oxtails at other local restaurants in the area for $22 that comes with 3 & way bigger portions and sides.. the rice was gone in just a few bites.. & majority of the oxtail will have fat on it so what am I really getting for $40? If someone is going to pay almost $50 for a meal atleast make the portions larger.. smh
