Had lunch at Luby’s and we enjoyed ourselves. Fried fish w/tartar sauce, fried okra, mashed potatoes w/gravy, macaroni augratin were great! Community brand sweet tea was refreshing. Our waitress Tasha was helpful and attentive! Thank you Luby’s for a good meal, so many choices and a great price! Growing up with Luby’s (6 generations in my family now) it’s been a lifelong treat! I grew up on Luby’s but my wife and kids have never been before. We just moved back to SA. I brought my wife and kids to this location and it was great. Tasha did an amazing job taking care of our family and the food was great. 10/10

Yummy cafeteria style food. Its gotten a little pricy over the years but the taste remains the same! Pictured is the luann of fries fish with double macaroni and a soft roll.

My wife has been wanting this for months now, she finally got some today. Fish with double Mac. And my daughter got the fried chicken with mac & mash potatoes. It was ready in 2 minutes and I went threw the drive-threw to get it. They said it tasted very good and no complaints.

First time there and the selection was amazing and the food tasted great. Quick service and clean place.

This place has been around for a while if you feel like home cooked meals/comfort food this is your go to place. They also serve great desserts add salads.

We had a small complaint about the macaroni and the waiter was very happy to replace it and then the manager came out to apologize and make sure everything else was good. They really do care about the quality of their food there!

The food was so very delishes.full of flavor. And great spices. Was happy this place gets your order fast as also your drinks or COFFEE just like you like.Very helpful persons especially the very nice waitress who helped. accommodate all of us especially my mom.

I just loved Luby's food from the first time I was in one of their restaurants. That said, this location is now the closest to me on this side of the city; it's sad to have seen several Luby's locations closed. Here, they haven't disappointed me, either; good service, excellent always fresh food kept -as needed- at a good hot/warm or cold temperature, attractive side dishes, salads, etc. And I also like their unsweetened iced tea. The usual Luby's atmosphere that pleases me. Thanks!

Went through the drive thru on a Staurday afternoon. Service was quick and I have to give 5 stars for the size of the tilapia and presentation of the food. I love big portions and they gave me a good sized filet. Mashed potatoes and broccoli were both great. I will be going to this location often!

I traveled across town for the food and was not disappointed. There used to be a couple of stores on the east side that were my staples, but sadly they've been closed. I like the selection, the presentation and the service in general. I plan to make this cross town pilgrimage frequently.

I love the new salad set up. Looks nice and appealing. Besides, there is no extra charge when you make the salad one of your 2 sides that come with your meal. Love it more than before.

We enjoyed this meal soooo much. We hadn't been to Lubys in over 10 years... We just moved back to Texas. It took us a month to get there but we had a ball... We ate and ate and ate til we couldn't eat anymore... We can't wait to go back..

** Experience** I noticed the food from the parking lot. I was only driving to see If it was busy. I saw the food and it looked like a buffet so I went in. I was greeted and smiles were everywhere. ** Customer Service** Once I got my food and sat down a waitress came to my table and told me that she would take care of me and get me anything I needed. My cup was never empty. Nuff said ** Food ** I walked out holding my belly, assuming the worst. I felt like I was going to pop. The food was tasty and I enjoyed it. ** Overall** They're not that many luby's around anymore. But this place had some good food and the environment was awesome. I would recommend coming here to support local businesses and family gatherings.

Absolutely the best dinning experience iv ever had. I would start off with the food, but the service was just impeccable, so i have to make commentary on that first. Each and every staff member i encountered was genuine in their services from the servers to the wonderful lady that charges you for your meal. Some could say that its their job to conduct themselves that way but i can reassure you, they were very genuine in their actions and that stood out for me very much so. It was very clean, its obvious they take pride in their establishment and work. Now the Food was just delicious, i ordered the chicken fried steak dinner and was so glad i did. The food was fresh, hearty and filling, good portions. The young lady serving my table was nothing less then delightful, very attentive, my glass was always full and she made sure i had everything i needed. There was even a point where i needed assistance learning how to leave a tip (I hadn't been to a Luby's in years and their method had changed And a very convenient method it is i might add) so my amazing server walked me through the process and made sure i received the help i need and they were very patient with doing so. All around a fantastic experience!

Have been going to Luby's since arriving in San Antonio in the mid 70's and continue to enjoy their food and family atmosphere. Ate the beef liver with grilled onions and it was delicious. The staff are always friendly and I will keep going back to their comfort food.

We had to stop for lunch and enjoy their fried fish and veggies. I love the hot dinner rolls and wait staff are on point during the rush hour. It was very nice that the lineman made a fresh batch of okra so that was definitely nice. Today was busy but our visit was pleasant.

The fish patty plate I chose had medium spices, onion, red bell pepper, a mixture of similar fish. Atmosphere is at home everywhere you look & sit there's Large TV's on the walls, plenty big bathrooms accommodating several baby options, wide wheelchair accessible stall, pretty normal. The waitresses & staff are everyday people we see on the bus, friendly, caring - to me it's like home/family. For us it's convenient easy to get to on public transport Via bus 95 in SA, Tx. Nice family friendly place, various meal options - the LuAnn plate is a great special, they have seasonal plates - Thanksgiving was super, the desserts are ample and tasty - worth adding to your tray! Enjoy to-go option on their food & service as well.

Julian was wonderful. I listened to music while eating. It calms me after a long day. Julian was perfect and would catchy attention. I wasn't trying to be rude. He took it all in stride! Good young man! And, oh my gosh, I love Luby's fried chicken. It doesn't matter if it's dark, white or the whole shebang!! UPDATE Great service. Friendly faces. Still keep ordering those darn enchiladas. They will remind you of your school cafeteria enchiladas. And I'm saying that as a compliment. Comfort on a plate. Ask for chopped raw onions to sprinkle on top. This friend I went with ordered the chicken fried steak. They said they liked it. Even the sugar free tea is great. Thank goodness they don't charge by the glass lol The block of fish is a tradition as are the enchiladas..don't expect high-end dining..it's comfort food that you load on a tray!

While out with my brother, we decided we wanted to eat at Luby's. Went to the one on Fredericksburg Rd, and it was just a good as the last time we did this in 1984. While going through the line, we met some wonderful people, and the service was on spot! We ate baked fish, chicken fried steak, beats, loaded mash, bread, greenbeans, and yes, chocolate cake and pecan pie! We've been going to Luby's for over 50 years. There is always a terrific selection of entrées and sides. We had the fish filet which had a nice crispy crust. Also, the cheesecake is a "don't miss it" dessert.

We had a private party for Christmas with our ladies' high school alumni. The service was excellent. And we had great food, as always the fried fish was just as I remembered it. The Mac n cheese didn't have the cheesy crust on top as it used to, though. The green beans were good and so was the carrot cake!

I visited this Fredericksburg Rd location with my sister, today. I was quite impressed with the decor although the carpet needs replacing. This Luby’s was bright and the tables were well spaced creating a good ambiance. I had turkey, dressing, broccoli and green beans. My sister had a vegetable plate with jalapeño cornbread. Lubys is a childhood favorite , and my 91 year old moms as well. Its always a good feeling to eat here. Our server was kind , and quick. Food was hot , but the liver and onions was really tough. I was sad. Its one of my faves.

This Luby's & the one on main are the top ones for me to go to. The food is always on point just like when I was younger going with my parents. Hot fresh food. The server was very attentive. Made sure to check on us & refill our water & tea. Brought us our cake with plates forks & a knive without even needing to be told. The location is older & needing some attention but I love the old school vibe it adds. Plenty of dining area even though the line was long. The long line moved very quickly. Everyone was so sweet & not pushy considering the mid week line. I was also shocked for 8 full size combos & drinks the bill was only $180 plus tip of course. Amazing yummy food & portions for the price.

Always great service and food. But wish there were more stalls in women's restroom. For a HUGE restaurant one would think there would be more than 2 stalls. Hope all our money goes to some bathroom upgrade soon.

It has been awhile since my wife and I have eaten at Luby's. We were disappointed in the experience. I usually order Fried Chicken but had to settle for Pork Roast as there was no thighs available. The server cut a nice portion of pork, and passed my plate down to the next section without asking me if I wanted gravy. When I asked for the gravy, she had to bring back the plate she had passed down. She did not appear to be a happy camper. The food could have been better. The food was not as hot as it usually is. Sort of lukewarm. The pork could have been more tender. It was a little tough to cut and chew. My wife had liver and onions. She was looking forward to it since she has enjoyed it in the past. Luby's is one of the few places that serves Liver and Onions. She told me it was tough and not as good she remembered it in the past. I do not mind paying the price for a nice meal. Unfortunately, at this Luby's, on this particular day, we felt as if our money and time had been waisted.

This was pretty much as expected from a Luby's. A throwback, this Luby's is in Balcones Heights and is in the style of the original Luby's. The servers were a little overwhelmed, and I felt there are other Luby's with more sides I would prefer. They have jalapeno macaroni here, which was tasty. The food was very on Par for Luby's but nothing spectacular. Exactly what we were looking for, but still a bit much for the price point. Make sure you visit before the end of summer when these types of Cafeterias will close. While in the mode of a Cafeteria, it has lost the cafeteria vibe that was the original Luby’s. They have a ToGo kiosk. Masks encouraged, but no sanitizer or social distancing.

Ordered from Uber and they didn’t give my driver gravy for my chicken fried chicken or cheese sauce for my broccoli. So disappointing!!! I usually order from SW Military location and it’s amazing, huge portion of chicken and always get everything I order. My piece of chicken from here was tiny and missing gravy, huge disappointment. Smallest portion of broccoli with no cheese sauce. Not worth $20. Uber refunded me $5, still not worth it.

I ordered a baked chicken, stuffing, mash potatoes and a corn bread for my 93 year old dad and I don’t understand how they could have gotten his order wrong. No corn bread, no cranberry sauce, no baked chicken instead it was BBQ sauce. Only because my dad was hungry and grateful he ate SOME of his food. All I ask is to please confirm the correct order.

This place is old, tired, and doesn't look very clean. Dead roach by the restrooms. The food was not Luby's usual quality. The staff is very nice. Luby's needs to replace old carpet and power wash the entire place.

So let me say I am a lifelong Luby's guest. Unfortunately the last 3 visits to this location has been less than great. I thought it was fare to keep giving this Luby's the benefit of the doubt but I will not be visits this location for a long time The food is almost always great. I have had 2 instances when a side dish was not good. The first was receiving cold broccoli almost as if had been in the refrigerator cold. On a different occasion I received the iconic Mac and cheese with excessive salt. My daughter had gotten the Mac and cheese on the same date but here's was just fine. I don't know what happened but the area I was served from of the same pan was so salty it was not edible. At this location I was charged for sodas when we had waters on our trays. The check out person did refund us. If I hadn't look at thr receipt we would not have known. The final disappointment, I was so happy that ordering online was back, unfortunately the restaurant staff failed me. I walked in to the to go side to pick up my online order. I waited my turn there where two people working in the To Go area. The second person said they would be right with me.. Great yes thank you. Then a different customer came in and the same person who greated me processed to ask there name and if they had a order waiting or if they needed to order in person. I was so taken back as I was not asked anything. The person at the register finished with his guest and asked me if I needed to order. I explained I had ordered online a family order o fish and gave my name. The employee stated it was still being worked on. Now I do not know how the text message sytem works for them but prior to arriving I received a texted stating my order was ready. Apparently not. I patiently waited watched several people walk in and out. 45 minutes later I asked status on my order. The first person that greater me was going to check then asked how I ordered.I explained again that it was an online order. To her surprise my oder had been on the shelf the whole time. This is not acceptable 45 minutes sitting on a shelf. Her response to the situation was to offer me a free drink.. No thank you! I wanted my order fresh and hot. Instead the fish was soggy as it was in an aluminum togo pan without napkins to at least soak the condensation. I was unable to reach anyone by phone.i wanted to address this with the restraunt manager, but no luck. I love Luby's just not this location.i will now only be visiting the Main or Huebner locations.

The staff were very very friendly and courteous however the nice young lady on the line did not know how to cut the brisket I ordered so I just switched to the square fish, I had to eat near tables of dirty stacked plates, the mac and cheese tasted funny (like flour and rancid butter- I'm glad I got the mashed potatoes, they were good) and the restaurant seems older compared the one downtown. I won't be back -

Horrible to-go service. I came in at 1:05 and there was one person in front of me in line and nobody else waiting. I placed my to-go order and waited 30 minutes for a simple Luann plate. Other times I’ve used the drive through other time and have had similar wait times. Wouldn’t recommend this location.

I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was awful. It was falling apart. There's an odor in there that we couldn't stand. The bathroom was dirty and no paper for in any of the stalls. I need my FULL REFUND. This is unacceptable. I ordered around 4pm today and this little guy was swimming in my soup. The service was bad after repeating myself to the lady at the counter that I wasn't helped after she skipped me and my little one as she decided to ignore me while I am telling her using my inside voice that we weren't helped she goes and take 2 orders. I don't know if placing a bug 🐛 in my soup was a revenge for her but there's no way I would of kept silent about the bug being there. This was our dinner and it was ruined. Went and ordered chicken fried steak,drove home sat down to eat and found a piece of plastic in it! Notice it says poultry. Chicken fried steak doesn’t have chicken in it. Talk about cross contamination! So I went back for a refund and got it along with a NOT so sincere apology. The least they could have done was given me an entire refund for everything I purchased since the incident caused me to lose my appetite and I had to drive all the way back to return the food. Yeah think again if you’re planning on coming here.

Food wasn’t bad, it’s what you’d expect from a cafeteria. The price was astronomical for the regular cafeteria food. $60 for 2 people is ridiculous. I don’t think we will be going back anytime soon.

went in this evening around 6 with my family Our server Sasha or Tasha (african american) was nice she had a strong ordor of marijuana and perfume the smell was so strong I don't know how management didn't smell it,the table next to me made a comment as well. I got I thought was Angus steak but it was a turkey patty steak it was very dry

Horrible Thanksgiving catering experience. We arrived at the store around 5:30pm after receiving a text alert our order was ready for pickup. The line for pickup went out to the street and wrapped around the block. We spent around 1 hour in line just to be told our order was not ready (this at around 6:30pm). So the wife an I decided to go eat inside while they get the order ready. We finished eating in about 30 minutes. We ask for our order. Still not ready. We are informed by the manager it was being prepared now. So what the hell were you all doing for 30 minutes while we ate. Had to wait about 45 minutes to get our order. Meanwhile, other people with similar issues are coming in to complain. One lady whose order was supposed to be ready in the morning was told to come back 3 times and still her order was not ready. To make matters worse, we finally get home and the order is incomplete with numerous missing items. Luby's used to be a good place to order dinner for special occasions. Not anymore. This will be our last time doing any business with Luby's. Stay away folks.

I'm sure on any other day this Luby's food is good. However, the holiday order I bought for Thanksgiving was really bad. The food wasn't good and the value was terrible. $11.99 for 1 pound of sliced turkey breast was really 6 small slices. It wasn't worth 11.99. Also the 1 quart of yams is $12.49 and it didn't taste good either. Very small portions for the price. Not recommending Luby's holiday food.

Service lady was horrible and had an attitude. Told us there was no more roast and didn't bother to say when it would be out, mind you it was early (5pm). The dining area stinks as I took my boy to use the bathroom it stunk like old hotel. I'm very disappointed. We left and ate at Tip Top Cafe.

This location SUCKS!!! I dont know what they're puttingninntheir enchiladas, but they were ice cold and had different texture, and taste. This LUBYS IS GARBAGE!!!! LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE TOOK A DUMP ON THE PLATE AND SOLD IT like that!

Normally love going here. Placing an online order is normally quick and convenient. Today that was not the case. I waited over 10 minutes past getting an alert on my phone that my food was ready. The 3 to 4 workers in the to go appeared to be working against each other making then further behind. I got food only to get broccoli with cheese that was more water than anything. It made is so soggy I could not even eat it. Very disappointing.

So I went today drive thue was packed so decided to go in n take out order 2 combo of fried fish both was macaroni and fries.Then another combo with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fries ordered took about 20 minutes before I said how long is my order gonna take cause drive thue was already empty people inside long gone n am still there to b told I c have 2 mind to fries total wait time 35 mind went home n fries on my fish combos cold n old fresh fries only on chicken never said am sorry would u like some water or drink nothing never again

We picked up a holiday meal their middle of the road.$199. I've been eating at lubys for over 65 years since I was 6 years old. The food has always been exceptional and the service outstanding. Christmas Dinner. Today I arrived at the the house and the box all the holiday meal was in collapsed and all the food sides and all landed on the floor. Obviously Ill never order catering or family meals again.from Lubys. Tge gentleman in the back at the pickup was typical Lybys 1st class.

I ordered a Thanksgiving Dinner. Got here at 4:45 for my 4pm pickup. The line for curbside went around the store and even out into the main street Fredericksburg Rd and down Hillcrest. I called and and was unable to get a live person, but the automated service stated the dinners could be picked up inside as well as curbside. Parked and walked in, a gentleman at the register looked like a manager did not catch a name said..."no, dinners have to be outside." It is 5pm and I'm still in line. I just noticed a lady coming out of the store with her Thanksgiving dinner from inside the store. If I hadn't already paid i would definitely be gone. This is my first time to order at this location and last time too. I called in to the store and of course was sent to voicemail, left a voicemail asking if they could kindly get help for the people at the back of the store issuing dinners. Not to mention dealing with people cutting in line and having obscenities shouted, because I wouldn't let them in line. Very disappointing. Very poor management planning.

I come here pretty often and I have never had bad service until today. The waitress sat us and ignored us. My partner waited 30 min for his food when they told him 5 minutes. The waitress never even brought the food he had to go to the front and get his food. The waitress tended to the tables around us (barely) and we had to call to other waiters and get our refills.
